Ms. D'Jaris Jenkins

D'Jaris Eileen Henderson Jenkins (Leenie), of Frederick, was called to be with the Lord at 2:30 a.m. Dec. 16, 2008, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Frederick on Aug. 18, 1948, as the daughter of the late Eugene and Clara Jane Hill Henderson of Libertytown.

Leenie was a graduate of Linganore High School and later a devoted servant and employee of Frederick County Head Start for more than 20 years as a family advocate and active influence in the community.

She is survived by four children, Charles L. Jenkins (Chuck) and wife, Priscilla Atchiah-Jenkins, Tamieka D. Atse and husband, J.B. Atse, Sayande L. Jenkins (Mort) and friend, Tina M. Johnson; devoted nephew, Jarvis Thompson who has been in her life since birth; nine grandchildren, Taylor L. Jenkins (16), Tyler R. Jenkins (13), Kaitlyn Baker (13), Caleigh Jones-Jenkins (10), Ethan C. Jenkins (9), Bryan Atse (9), Azzoria Bowie (6), Zabein T. Jenkins (4) and Jermyah A. Jenkins (1), all from Frederick.

She was also survived by two brothers and a sister, Eugene Henderson (Chubby), Raythorne Henderson (Ray) and Chantel Hoes (Tootsie); and preceded in death by her daughter, Deanna C. Jenkins, who died shortly after birth; brother, Wilbur Henderson (Will); brother, Andre Henderson (Friday) and Ann T. Thompson; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Leenie had many loving and devoted friends and expresses her love to appreciation to all. The family of Leenie would like to invite all to attend a celebration of her new life from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Gary L. Rollins Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Rollins Funeral Home.

Interment will be held at St. Peters Catholic Church, Libertytown.

Arrangements are by Gary L. Rollins Funeral Home, Frederick.

Mrs. Anne Barker

Anne Elizabeth (Harvey) Barker, 65, of Pacific Junction, Iowa, entered in to eternal rest at her home in Pacific Junction, Iowa, on Dec. 14, 2008.

She was born Dec. 2, 1943, in Frederick to Philip C. and Elizabeth J. Harvey.

Anne was raised in Frederick and relocated to Portland, Maine, returning to Frederick prior to moving to Pacific Junction, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Paul A. Barker March 6, 2004, in Tabor, Iowa.

Anne was employed as a medical transcriptionist until her retirement. She loved her pets and was an avid reader.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Paul A. Barker of Pacific Junction, Iowa.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at St. Barnabas Church, 129 N. 40th St., Omaha, Neb. A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Peterson Mortuary Inc., Glenwood, Iowa.

Memorial donations may be sent to Glenwood Public Library or St. Barnabas Church.

Mr. Miran Petrossian

Mr. Miran Petrossian, 83, of Clarksburg, passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2008. He was born Aug. 15, 1925, in a small village outside of Armenia. He was a loving husband to Amely Petrossian for 46 years before she passed away June 17, 1995.

Miran, known as "Pop" at Green Valley Convenient ,opened and ran the store in the mornings for 15 years. He always enjoyed being at the store and talking to all the customers.

He enjoyed gardening, being outdoors in the sun, playing backgammon, reading, politics and spending time with his family, but especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his four children, Ara Petrossian and wife, Hasmik, Armineh Madroosian and husband, Hrand, Petros Petrossian and wife, Mishele, Adrineh Abrahamian and husband Saro; nine grandchildren, Annie Heller and husband, Mark, Melan Bowerman and husband, Timothy, Helineh Madroosian, Artin Petrossian, Artem Petrossian, Petros Petrossian Jr., Arin Abrahamian, Krist Petrossian, Narineh Abrahamian; and one great-granddaughter, Kayelin Bowerman.

The viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at DeVol Funeral Home, Gaithersburg. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at Soorp Khatch Armenian Apostolic Church in Bethesda.

Mr. Thomas Black Sr.

Mr. Thomas C. Black Sr., 78, of Frederick, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at his home. He was the husband of the late Betty J. Brandenburg Black.

Born Oct. 22, 1930, in Gordo, Ala., he was the son of Cordie Dillard Black of Montana and the late Walter T. Black.

Mr. Black served his country in the U.S. Navy and after leaving the Navy, worked for many years in the medical field. He was a member of the Reformed United Church of Christ, Mount Pleasant Ruitan, American Legion Post #282, AMVETS Post #7 and the Mount Airy VFW Post #10076. He was a volunteer for many years with the Parkinson's Association in Mount Pleasant. He loved to play golf, bake, was an avid Redskin fan, and enjoyed spending time with good friends at the Woodsboro American Legion.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Sandy Arsola and husband, Mike, of Minnesota, Sharon Dicken of Cumberland, Thomas C. Black Jr. and wife, Dawn, of Salisbury, and Michael Black of Frederick; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sara Glascock of Montana.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at the funeral home.

By special request — of Mr. Black — his grandsons, Pastor Frank Dicken and Pastor Brian Dicken will officiate.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Alma Wehner

Mrs. Alma M. (Davey) Wehner, 102, of Frederick, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Citizens Care Center, Frederick. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin J. Wehner in 1978.

Born Aug. 30, 1906 in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late William W. and Ida (Wheeler) Davey. Mrs. Wehner was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She cherished devoting her life to her family and home.

In her youth, she was employed as a seamstress.

Surviving are her daughter, Doris T. Brennan and husband, John W., of Frederick; three grandchildren, Michael P. Brennan, Kevin F. Brennan and wife, Mindy K., John T. Brennan and wife, Annette L.; six great-grandchildren, Kristen N. Carmi, Lauren N. Brennan, Brooke M. Brennan, Ashley M. Brennan, Joseph P. Brennan and Daniel Q. Brennan.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wellington and Earl Davey and two sisters, Mabel Kuszmaul and Valerie Seibert.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Friday, Dec. 19, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 112 E. Second St., Frederick, MD 21702. Interment will be in Holy Redeemer cemetery, Baltimore.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Church.

Mrs. Janet Vasco

Janet Darcey Vasco, 80, of Point of Rocks, died of complications from pneumonia at Frederick Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008.

Born Oct. 31, 1928 in Washington, D.C., she was a seventh-generation Washingtonian. She was the daughter of the late Stanley Roderick Darcey and Hazel Pearl Harrison. She married Dominick Paul Vasco in June 1948.

Janet was a local artist. She was awarded a scholarship to the Corcoran Art School. After graduating, she worked as a commercial artist for Sears Roebuck.

Later, she taught ceramics and doll making for a local organization. She displayed and sold her art work at local community fairs.

Her husband of 55 years died Feb. 6, 2004. Her son, Paul, died July 1999 from pancreatic cancer.

Survivors include a daughter, Victoria Vasco Thompson; sister, Nancy Darcey Rudy; three grandsons; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Janet's family would like to thank all of Janet's caretakers.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at the Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be make in care of the family to Victoria Vasco, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701.

Mrs. Phyllis Denny

Phyllis Ann (Geisbert) Denny, 77, of Baltimore, died at her home Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008. She was the wife of the late Richard F. Denny.

Ann, as she was known to her friends, was born in Urbana on Sept. 18, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Allan Geisbert of Frederick and Lena Elizabeth (Lenhart) Geisbert Walker, of Germantown, and the granddaughter of the late Clayton C. and Effie E. (White) Lenhart.

Mrs. Denny worked for many years in the Baltimore County Public School system and then in private education. She retired from her position in College Counseling Services at Gilman School in the late 1990s. After, she continued to stay active in local duckpin bowling, which was her avid interest.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia G. Denny, of Baltimore; six of her 14 siblings, Sally Bolton, Gaithersburg, Mary (Peggy) Neal, Rockville, Barbara (Bobbi) Knoblock, Beverly Johnson, Harry Walker, Dick Walker and also her aunt, the youngest of her mother's siblings, Geraldine (Jo) Winpigler of Frederick; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Francis Scott Key Chapel at Mount Olivet cemetery, Frederick. Interment will follow. Rev. Joseph Skillman of Christus Victor Lutheran Church, Baltimore, will officiate.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Barbara Fritchie's Restaurant, located at 1513 W. Patrick St., following the services.

There will also be a memorial service held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Pappas' Restaurant, 1725 Taylor Ave., Parkville, Baltimore. The family invites friends to celebrate the life and times of Phyllis Ann Denny.

In lieu of flowers or prayer cards, the family respectfully requests contributions to the Phyllis Ann and Richard F. Denny memorial Fund, c/o Gilman School, 5407 Roland Ave., Baltimore, MD 21210.

Mr. Lee Roy Fink

Lee Roy Walter Fink, 82, of New Windsor and formerly of Fairfax, Va., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008 at Carroll Hospice Dove House.

Born Nov. 12, 1926, in Washington, he was the son of the late Walter Lee and Sallie Cooley Fink.

Mr. Fink had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, working on radio communications and airplanes. He was formerly employed with Capital Airlines at National Airport and later with United Airlines at Dulles.

He had been attending St. James Lutheran Church, Union Bridge. He enjoyed building ship models and electronics.

Lee Roy had been residing the last five years with his brother in New Windsor.

Surviving are four brothers, Milton Fink of Middletown, Walter Fink of Frederick, Roger Fink of Rockville and Mike Fink of New Windsor; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sister Doris Fink and brothers Donald and Phillip Fink.

A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 20, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge. Rev. Dave Bare will officiate.

Interment will be in Mountain View cemetery, Union Bridge. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 20, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1060, Union Bridge, MD 21791.

Mrs. Thelma Maught

Thelma Virginia Turner Maught, 84, of Jefferson, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at her son's home in Jefferson. She was the wife of Charles John Andrew "Jack" Maught, who died Oct. 12, 1984.

Born in Rohrersville Dec. 26, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Charles Turner and Lovetta Poffenberger Turner Miller.

She was a devoted mother and homemaker; enjoyed helping at her church and the Jefferson Community Center, the Ruritan Club and Fire Company.

She is survived by a son, Charles and wife, Daphne Maught, of Jefferson; a grandson, Matthew Maught; a granddaughter, Danielle Maught; one brother, Robert Miller of Hagerstown; and many nieces and nephews.

She will also be remembered by her second family, the Hagens.

She was predeceased by her grandson, Andy Maught; one sister, Ruby Miller; and two brothers, Harold Miller and Marvin Miller.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Jefferson.

There will also be a viewing one hour prior to the church service on Friday. Rev. Katrina Holland, her pastor, will officiate. Interment will be made in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Jefferson, MD 21755 or to Hospice of Frederick Co., P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21705.

Mr. Ralph Clabaugh

Mr. Ralph Eugene Clabaugh, 67, of Frederick, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, while surrounded by his loving family at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Shirley Ann Myers Clabaugh, his wife of 48 years.

Born June 15, 1941, in Frederick, he was the son of the late George Franklin and Nettie Alberta Hoffman Clabaugh.

Ralph worked for Black and Decker for 20 years. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his fish pond, cooking, playing games and making homemade greeting cards on his computer, and holiday decorating, but especially enjoyed his family and his Pomeranian, Spanky. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Tonya Lynn Fitzwater and husband, Richard, of Walkersville and Michelle Dawn Crawford and husband, Scott, of Brunswick; four grandchildren, Jenna Kenote, Erin Crawford, Michael Crawford, and Taylor Crawford; three sisters, Catherine Hoffman of Frederick, Evelyn Hale of Walkersville, and Margaret Wastler of Frederick; numerous nieces and nephews; and godniece, Jazmyn Anders.

He was preceded in death by Helen E. Clabaugh, James F. Clabaugh and Shirley T. Stull.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Rev. Walter P. Fogarty will officiate. Interment will be private.

Donations may be made to the Frederick County Animal Shelter, 1832 Rosemont Ave., Frederick, MD 21702, and/or to the Frederick County Humane Society, 217 W. Patrick St., Frederick, MD 21701.
