Eileen C. Topper of Stevensville Md. formerly of Baltimore died on March 16, 2001.
She was the beloved wife of James W. Topper, Sr. mother of James W. Topper, Jr. of Burlington Ky., Mary Markosky of Ocean Pines MD, and Eileen Goode of Pasadena MD. Sister of John Arnold Coleman of Ocean Pines Md. also survived by 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester MD on Monday March 19,2001 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Christopher’s Catholic Church on Tuesday March 20, 2001 at 11:am. Interment in New Cathedral cemetery, Baltimore at 1:15 pm.
Katherine Virginia Benton Leaverton of Centreville died at Schyler House in Church Hill Md. on March 16, 2001. She was 91.
Born near Centreville on February 4, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Bessie Wood Benton. She graduated from Centreville High School in 1927 and began working as a secretary for an insurance company. On April 9, 1929 she married
Thomas Roe Leaverton of Queenstown, MD and together they started farming in Starkey's Corner, near Church Hill, MD. Mr. Leaverton died on February 10, 1980.
She was very active in the Homemaker's Clubs and held office at the County and State levels.Mrs. Leaverton worked with the 4-H program in Queen Anne's County, including teaching sewing, and cooking skills.She spent many years helping at the annual 4-H Fair. In addition, she was very active in the Centreville United Methodist Church where she was involved in the United Methodist Womens Circle. She served the Church as the secretary for three ministers.
Mrs. Leaverton is survived by two sons, Marion Leaverton of Queenstown and Reed Leaverton of Centreville; a daughter, Louise L. Barton of Queen Anne; eight grandchildren, Mariann L. Marston of Dover, DE, Bruce Leaverton of Cordova and Thomas G. Leaverton, of Easton, Nancy L. Chance of Easton, Linda J. Barton of New York, NY, James R. Barton, Jr. of Lexington, Park, MD, Keith Leaverton of Easton and Kevin Leaverton of Centreville, MD; and nine great-grandchildren, Katherine Marston, Joshua Leaverton, Kyle Leaverton, Jennifer Chance, Christopher Barton, Alex Barton, Duncan Barton, Andrew Leaverton and Erin Leaverton..
Funeral services will be held on Monday March 19, 2001 at 11:am in Centreville United Methodist Church, Centreville, MD where friends may call from 2 to 4 pm. On Sunday afternoon. Interment in Chesterfield cemetery
in Centreville MD.

Frederick "Captain Freddy" Allen Hunt, Jr. of St. Michaels, MD, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at his home. He was 51.
Born November 1, 1949 in Easton, he was the son of the late F. Allen Hunt, Sr. and Ethel Crockett Hunt Meehan. He was also close to his stepfather, the late Daniel F. Meehan. In 1968, he graduated from St. Michaels High School. He also attended Chesapeake College and the University of Maryland Fire School at College Park. He worked for the Bartley Corp. in Easton as a furniture manufacturer before getting his captain's license in 1988. He then started Harbor Shuttle, a water taxi company that he ran for 14 years before selling. He continued to work for the company until September 2000, when health reasons forced him to retire.
He was a member of the Chesapeake Area Professional Captain's Association and a former member of the St. Michaels Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Hunt is survived by his wife, the former Donna Prettyman; a sister, Lola Rose Ferguson, of Bena, Virginia; a brother, Ralph Edward Hunt, of Easton; a stepbrother, James E. Price, Jr., of Baltimore; a stepsister, Jean Price Wilson, of St. Michaels, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 20 at 3 PM at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Easton. Burial will be private.

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated for Dale Jackson Rauch of Trappe, MD. on Saturday, March 17, 2001 at 10:00AM at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Easton. Mr. Rauch died at the Memorial Hospital, Easton on Tuesday March 13, 2001. He was 70.
Born November 26, 1930 in Melrose, New Mexico he was the son of the late Lester R. and Goldie Westfall Rauch. After graduating from public school in Dunsmuir, Ca. he attended college for 2 years before joining the U.S. Navy where he served as a diver and with the Sea-Bee's in various places including Central America and Cuba. He also played for the Navy softball team and was highly respected for the positions he played.
In 1955 he married
the former Dorothy T. Cronin and they made their home on Long Island, New York where he worked briefly for Breyer's Ice Cream Co.and then began a career with the New York Telephone Company as a service technician. He retired in 1986 after 30 years of service. In 1997 they moved to Trappe, MD. Mrs. Rauch died in September 2000.
He was a member of the St. Ignatius Catholic Church of Long Beach, NY and a member of the Blessed Sacrament Parish of Jackson Heights, Queens, New York. He was also a member of the Men's Golf Club, Lido Beach, NY. and the Knights of Columbus of Queens NY.
Mr. Rauch is survived by two daughters, Alana C. Seebode and her husband Edmond, of Odenton, MD. and Laura Rauch Brownlee and her husband David, of South Belmar, NJ. A sister Retha Gray, of Coarsegold CA. 5 grandchildren, Anna, Katie, Erin, Lauren and Andrew and one niece Terry Seabury.
Friends may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home P.A., Easton, on Friday March 16TH from 7 to 9 PM. A prayer service will be held at 8:30PM. Burial will be private.
A funeral liturgy for Thomas F. Sullivan of Easton will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Easton on Saturday, March 17, 2000 at 1 PM. He died on March 13, 2001 following a long battle with prostate cancer. He was 69.
Born on October 4, 1931 in Flushing, New York, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Ellen Foley Sullivan. He graduated from Flushing High School in 1949, Fordham University in 1954 with a B.S. in Business Administration and Officer Candidate School at the Coast Guard Academy, New London, Connecticut, in 1957. His career in the water well contracting industry in New York, New Jersey and Maryland, began in 1954.
He was recognized as a leading expert in the construction and rehabilitation of large diameter, high capacity coastal plain wells for municipalities and industry. He retired in 1986 as Vice President and General Manager of Layne (NY), the second largest water well contracting company in the U.S. In 1988 he accepted a position as senior consultant with Earth Data Inc. of St. Michaels, MD, a ground water and environmental consulting firm. He was the Company's specialist for clients, municipal and industrial who used ground water as a primary source of water. He retired from full time consulting in 1995 but remained active with earth data on a part time basis until his death.
He held Master Well Drillers licenses in Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware and New York. He qualified as a Master Well Contractor in the National Ground Water Association. He was a member of the NGWA, Maryland/Delaware Well Drillers Association, past member of the AWWA Long Island Water Conference, serving as treasurer from 1975 to 1978 and the Ground Water Conference of Long Island, serving as President from 1976 to 1983.
He enlisted in the US Coast Guard in February 1951 and actively participated in the Reserve Program until he was called to active duty in August 1956. He was released from active duty in October 1957, returning to active Reserve participation at that time. Throughout his long career in the USCGR he served as Commanding Officer of several Reserve units on Long Island and was responsible for inspecting and reporting on operations between Burlington, Vermont and Sewars, Delaware. He retired from the Coast Guard Reserves with the rank of CAPT in May of 1979 after 28 years of active participation. He was a member of the Reserve Officers Association New York, Vice President for Navy from 1966 to 1967 and a member of the New York Coast Guard Chapter #70, serving as President from 1972-1973 and the Retired Officers Association. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Talbot Country Club serving on the Board of Governors from 1996 to 1999, and a member of the Knights of Columbus in New York and Maryland.
Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife, the former Catherine Drum, whom he married
April 28, 1956; two daughters, Coleen Sullivan Weissman of Colts Neck, New Jersey and Sheila Sullivan of Portland, Maine
; two grandchildren, Kevin and Meaghan Weissman; three sisters, Mary Krayer of Radford, Virginia, Joan Kosnik of Harrisonburg, Virginia and Sheila Stangel of South Hampton, New York. Another sister, Frances Sullivan is deceased.

Margaret “Peggy” Walls of Church Hill, Md. died Tuesday March 13th. In the Corsica Hills Nursing Home, Centreville, Md. of heart failure. She was 62.
Mrs. Walls was born in Easton, Md. the daughter of Edward Edge of Dover, De. and the late Mary Emma Smith Edge who died in 1979. Mrs. Walls was a homemaker. She was a very active member of the Liberty Lighthouse Church in Chestertown, Md. where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Mrs. Walls enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Walls is survived by her husband Thomas “Sonny” Walls Sr., 2- daughters, Mary Walls Pullen of Centreville, Md. and Brenda Walls Plummer of Chestertown, Md. 1- Son Thomas F. Walls Jr. of Sudlersville, Md. 4- Sisters Marylee Boyles of Chestertown, Md., Frances Osborne of Chesapeake City, Md., Darlene Alton of Henderson. Md., and Barbara Jonczak of Centreville, Md. 1- Brother, Thomas Edge of Worton, Md. and her step-mother Margaret Edge of Dover, De. And 8- Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 15, 2001 at 12, noon in the Liberty Lighthouse Church, MD> RT. 213 S. Chestertown, Md. where friends and family may call 1 hr. prior. Interment will be in the Church Hill cemetery, Church Hill, Md.

Irving Woodall of Millington, Md. died at his home on Tuesday March 13, 2001 of heart failure. He was 92.
Mr. Woodall was born in Queen Anne’s County, MD. The son of the late Grover and Delma Wallen Woodall. Mr. Woodall worked on the family farm until it was sold in the early 50’s. His family retired in Millington where he lived the balance of his life. Mr. Woodall loved the Baltimore Orioles, and enjoyed watching people. He could be seen on the corner in Millington watching people come and go or near the 301 interchange and all these stops were part of his daily routine.
Mr. Woodall is survived by 4- cousins, Sidney McGinnes of Chestertown, MD. and Ralph McGinnes also of Chestertown, MD. Helen Pardee of Church Hill, MD. and Elsie Trojak of Palo Alto, Ca.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 17th. at 11am from the Fellows Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home 370 W. Cypress St. Millington, MD. Where friends and family may call Friday Evening from 6-8pm. Interment will be in the Crumpton cemetery, Crumpton, Md.
