Warner T. Curtis, Jr.
Mr. Warner T. "Tommy" Curtis, Jr., 56, of Westminster, MD, died suddenly on Thursday March 26, 2009.
He was the husband of Donna K. Curtis.
Born on October 30, 1952 and raised in Rockville, MD he was the son of Margaret E. Curtis of Rockville and the late Warner T. Curtis, Sr.
Surviving besides his wife and mother are his children; Dawn M. of West Virginia, Kelly M. of Rockville, Warner T. III of Darnestown, Christian J. and Robert O. both of Westminster, David A. of Damascus; 9 grandchildren, Brittany, Kyle, Devin, Wesley, Bre, Brandon, Kaleb, Matthew, Kaylee; two brothers, Clarence and Timmy; 5 sisters, Patsy, Louise, Carol, Susan and Penny.
A special remembrance from his second family; Sherman, Sr., Janet, Worm, Mandy and Fred.
He was loved by all of his nieces and nephews.
Warner was preceded in death by one brother, Robert.
The family will receive friends on Monday March 30 from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD where funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 31 at 1pm.
Interment will be in Boyds Presbyterian Church cemetery, Boyds, MD.

Cinderella T. Butler
Mrs. Cinderella "Cindy" T. Butler, 96, of Poolesville, died peacefully at home on Saturday March 21, 2009.
She was the wife of the late George Butler who passed in 1979.
Born on February 7, 1913 in Whites Ferry, MD she was the daughter of the late Frank and Annie Frye Titus.
She was a devoted wife for 43 years, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who believed in God and led by example. She had a quiet strength which was felt by all who knew and loved her and it was that strength and love and her trust in God's mercy that carried her home.
Surviving are her children; Anne B. Hopkins, Mary N. Lambert (Jim), Harriet B. Magaha (Ron), Carol B. Lawson (Bob), George Butler, Jr. (Debbie), Frances B. Hoewing (Link), 19 grandchildren; Happy Hopkins (Penny), Chris Stowers (Chuck), Terri Winn (Larry), Matt Hopkins (Tonya), Maggie Leibrand (Roy), Cathy Bupp (Mike), Larry Neal, Andy Neal (Amy), Rinnie Magaha (Robin), Robin LeMarr (Donnie), Holly Henderson (Ryan), Jessica Bodmer (Jason), Michael Lawson, Leigh Ann, Rob and Tim Butler, Sara Hoewing, Emily Hoewing (fiancé Conor Devine), Justine Hoewing, 31 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Cindy was the last surviving of 12 children.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday March 24 from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD where the rosary will be recited at 8 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday March 25 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Road, Barnesville.
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.

Pleasant Jane Shoemaker
Mrs. Pleasant Jane Shoemaker, 76, of Jefferson, died suddenly at her residence on Wednesday March 18, 2009.
She was the wife of the late Lewis R. Shoemaker, Sr.
Born on March 17, 1933 in Bethesda, MD, she was the daughter of the late Thomas C. and Laura Shreve Bladen.
Surviving are her children; Thomas O. Shoemaker, Sr., Alan L. Shoemaker, Sr. and his fiancé Donna Remines, James L. Shoemaker and wife Janet; two brothers, Ronald Bladen, Curtis Bladen; one sister, Harriette Healand; grandchildren, Donald, Chad, Jason, Thomas, Jr., Alan Jr., Edward, Michael, Matthew, Sean, Hunter, Mandi, Christina S., Christina D., Amber, April; great grandchildren, Dustin, Leann, Carlee, Kylie, Chellsie, Joshua, Laurren, Faith, Breeanna, Nathan, Kayla, Megan and Alan III.
She was preceded in death by one son, Lewis Shoemaker, Jr.; three brothers, William, Thomas and Don Bladen; one sister, Margie Grebler and one granddaughter, Peggy Sue Shoemaker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday March 23 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD where the family will receive friends one hour prior.
Interment will be in Mt. Carmel cemetery, Sunshine.

Lewis R. Shoemaker, Jr.
Mr. Lewis R. Shoemaker, Jr., 57, of Hagerstown, died suddenly on Sunday March 15th, 2009 at his residence.
Born on June 10, 1951 in Olney, Maryland, he was the son of Pleasant Jane Shoemaker and the late Lewis R. Shoemaker, Sr.
Mr. Shoemaker proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Surviving besides his mother are four children, Donald Lawhorne, Chad, Jason and Mandi Shoemaker; three brothers, Thomas, Alan and James Shoemaker and his wife Janet; four grandchildren, Joshua Johnson, Jr., Chellsie Shoemaker, Carlee and Kylie Lawhorne; three nephews, Owen, Edward and Alan Shoemaker, Jr.; and one niece, Christina Shoemaker.
Lewis was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Sue Shoemaker.
The family will receive friends on Thursday March 19 from 5-7 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD where funeral services will follow at 7 pm.
Interment in Arlington National cemetery, Arlington, VA, will be held on Wednesday March 25th at 10 AM.information

A. Frances Shumaker
Mrs. A. Frances Shumaker, 94, of Frederick, MD and Gurnee, IL died at Homewood at Crumland Farm, Frederick, on Thursday June 10, 2010.
She was the wife of the late Alva "Al" V. Shumaker.
Born on March 23, 1916 in Zion, IL she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Abbie Bywater Ashton.
Surviving is one son, Gary Shumaker (Helen) of Charles Town, WV, and one granddaughter, Deanna Shumaker.
Frances was preceded in death by four brothers, Alfred, Jr., Daniel, George, Charles and one sister, Elizabeth Taylor.
Inurnment will take place later this summer in Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville, IL.

Ruth Virginia Thompson Lewis
Mrs. Ruth Virginia Thompson Lewis, 61, of Adamstown, died on Thursday June 10, 2010.
She was the wife of the late Jerry Lee Thompson, Sr..
Born on March 9, 1949 in Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Nichols Lewis, Sr..
Surviving are her children, Misti Lynn Lewis of Harpers Ferry, WV, Jerry Lee Thompson, Jr., of Adamstown, Charles Sedgewick Lewis III of Myrtle Beach, SC; three brothers, Charles Sedgewick Jr., of Hancock, Ben Lewis of Germantown, Harry Lewis of Hancock; two sisters, Della Morris Bucklin of Boyds, Dottie Stratton of Damascus; four grandchildren, Karianne Lesko Wresche of Adamstown, Terrance Lesko of NC, Katrina Lesko of Adamstown, Rachel Thompson of Poolesville; two great grandchildren, Julian Wresche of Adamstown, Davion Morris of Adamstown and many nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by one brother, Pete Lewis.

Roger D. Strippey
Mr. Roger Daniel Strippey, age 57, of Poolesville, MD. passed away at home on June 9, 2010. He was born on May 31, 1953 in Bethesda, MD, the oldest son of the late Eugene and Bonnie Strippey. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Janis, son Matthew and daughter Mary. He also leaves behind his brother Donald and wife Susan, and sisters Carolyn Moton, Nancy King and husband Melvin and sister-in-law Barbara Strippey. He is also survived by a large extended family and many friends. He had a 37 year career with MCPS. Roger was a founding member of the Poolesville Military Support Group. Mr. Michael A. Clements, 57, of Germantown, died on Monday June 7, 2010.
He was the fiancé of Linda Austin.
Born on May 6, 1953 in Maryland he was the son of the late William and Eleanor Clements.
Also surviving are his children Malissa, Michael and Regina Clements all of Poolesville, two brothers, Billy and Thomas Clements, one sister, Regina Payne, two grandchildren and his first wife, JoAnn Clements.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Robert and Joseph Clements.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday June 10 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior. directions
Interment will follow in Parklawn cemetery, Rockville.

Kathryn Anne Thaxton
Kathryn Anne Thaxton (Bishop) of Boyds, MD passed away early Sunday morning, June 6, 2010 after a long fight with cancer. She was 37.
Kate is survived by her husband Timothy Thaxton, her father Eugene Bishop and brother Steve Bishop.
She was preceded in death by her mother Joyce Bishop (Atkinson) and her grandfather Leonard Atkinson.

Mr. Enrico N. DeLeonibus, 81 of Dickerson died June 4, 2010.
He was the husband of Josephine DeLeonibus.

Janice M. Byrd
Mrs. Janice M. Byrd, 82 of Urbana, died June 1, 2010.
She was the wife of Philip Byrd.
Born on July 25, 1927 in Buck Run, PA she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Ann Haney.
Surviving besides her husband are her children, John Hodgson of SC, Patrick Hodgson of Damascus, Mary Blaisdell of CO, Kevin, Michael and Daniel Hodgson all of VA, Sandy Staruk of Middletown, Sharon Offutt of NC, 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The family received friends on Thursday June 3 from 7-9pm.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at 11am on Friday June 4 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Barnesville.
Interment was in Gate of Heaven cemetery, Silver Spring.
