Ella L. Shinton

RANGELEY — Ella L. (Kitty) Shinton, 82, of Rangeley, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 6, 2000, in Rangeley.

She was born in Frankfurt, Germany, on March 24, 1918, the daughter of Nickalaus and Elisabeth (Seibel) Gaubatz. She attended schools in Germany, and graduated from the Lutheran School System in Frankfurt.

Mrs. Shinton married Jonah A. Shinton, in Frankfurt, on June 6, 1945. They lived in Philadelphia for 28 years, and, after vacationing in Rangeley for many years, moved to their Quimby Pond residence, after her husband's retirement, in 1983.

She was a member of Guides and Sportsmen's Association.

Ella attended Rangeley Congregational Church, and Old Log Church. She was a proud Lutheran until her death, and loved Rangeley.

She was predeceased by a brother, Hans Gaubatz.

Mrs. Shinton is survived her husband, Jonah A., of Rangeley; a son, Frank, of Holland, Pa.; and two grandsons, Hans A., and Herbert P., of Hamburg, Pa.

At the request of the family, there will be no visitation hours.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Main Street, Phillips.

Friends wishing, may make donations, in her memory, to American Heart Association, Maine Affiliate, Inc., 10 Bangor St., Suite F, Augusta 04330.

James A. Pratt

CORINNA — James A. Pratt, 94, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at Dover-Foxcroft, after a long illness.

He was born on May 29, 1906, in Corinna, the son of Elbridge and Mabel (Frost) Pratt.

He lived most of his life in Maine, New Mexico, and Massachusetts, and had worked as a dairy farm employee.

The family wishes to express its appreciation to Ira and Frances Mitchum, of Charleston, for the loving care James received while residing with them the past three years.

He is survived by a son, Rev. Levi Pratt, and his wife, Betti, of Harmony; a daughter, Doris Larrabee, of Exeter; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, June 8, and from 1 p.m. until a 2 p.m. funeral service, Friday, at Thompson Funeral Home, 30 St. Albans Road, Corinna, with Rev. Edward Jaworski officiating. Burial will be in North Newport Cemetery.

Those who wish, may make donations, in his memory, to Corinna Ambulance Service, c/o Corinna Town Office, RR 1, Box 2900, Corinna 04928-9757.

Gloria A. York

BELMONT — Gloria A. York, 63, of Belmont, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at a Portland hospital.

She was born in Waterville, on Feb. 19, 1937, the daughter of Onesime and Annie (Thomas) Desjardins.

Gloria was a volunteer at Waldo County General Hospital for many years.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and loved her family and her cat, Buffy.

Mrs. York is survived by her husband, Lionel York, of Belmont; a son, Lionel York Jr., of Winslow; a daughter, Theresa Boulos, of New Gloucester; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 9, at Rackliffe Funeral Home, 54 Church St., Belfast.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Belfast, with Fr. Chris Piselli officiating.

Friends who wish, may make donations to American Heart Association.

Robert P. Anderson

SUN CITY, Ariz. — Robert P. Anderson, 68, of Sun City, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Sun Health Care Center.

He was born in Cressona, Pa..

Mr. Anderson was a truck driver for Yellow Freight, in Lancaster, Pa., until he retired in 1988.

He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Robert moved to Arizona from Akron, Pa., in 1993.

He was a member of St. Joachim and St. Anne Catholic Church.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Karen Anderson, of Sun City; daughters, Terry Munroe, of Lititz, Pa., and Lori Anderson, of Nashville Tenn.; sons, Christopher Anderson, of Edgewater, Fla., Thomas R. Anderson, of Phoenix, Daniel Anderson, of Waterville, Maine, and Devin Anderson, of Lititz, Pa.; and 13 grandchildren.

A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, at St. Joachim and St. Anne Catholic Church, 11625 North 111th Ave., Sun City. Burial will be in Sunland Memorial Park, in Sun City.

Donations in his name may be made to Lupus Foundation of America, 1300 Picard Drive, Suite 200, Rockville, Md. 20850-4303.

Elfie E. Williamson

BRUNSWICK — Elfie E. Williamson, 75, of Kitt Street, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Mid Coast Hospital, in Brunswick.

She was born Jan. 15, 1925, in Chelsea, a daughter of Alton and Delia McKechinie Williamson, and attended schools there, graduating from Cony High School in 1943.

Elfie worked as an accountant for the state Department of Human Resources for 35 years, retiring in 1976.

She lived in Gardiner before moving to Brunswick two years ago.

Elfie was a member of the Nature Conservatory, Rockland Book Club, and Goodwill Circle in Chelsea.

She enjoyed gardening and was active in the community. She enjoyed spending time out with her friends.

Elfie was predeceased by a brother, Alton Williamson Jr., of Coopers Mills.

Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Nina) Robbins, of Bridgewater, Mass., Mrs. James (Edith) Boynton, of South Portland, and Mrs. Herbert (Vera) Harmon, of Milford, N.H.; a special niece, Elizabeth Lemon; and several other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital, 11 Blossom St., Boston MA 02215, or Arthritis Foundation, 930 Brighton Ave., Portland ME 04102.

Arrangements are by Demers-Desmond Funeral Home, 34 Cushing St., Brunswick.

Doris V.W. Moody

TROY — Doris Vestie Wingate Moody, 89, of Troy, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at a Belfast nursing home following a long illness.

She was born Aug. 28, 1910, in Troy, daughter of Fred and Ethel Meservey Wingate, and attended Unity High School.

Mrs. Moody was a member of Troy Ladies Auxiliary Senior Citizens Organization, and attended Troy Union Church.

She was well known for the baby sets she crocheted.

Mrs. Moody was a devoted mother and grandmother, and will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her husband of 72 years, Arthur K. Moody, died April 3 of this year. They were married Oct. 14, 1927.

She was also predeceased by a son, Kenneth, and a sister, Hazel Chase.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Beatrice) Thomas, of Brooks; two sons, George Moody, and his wife, Leola, of Pittsfield, and Carl Moody, and his wife, Donna, of Anaheim, Calif.; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, Main and Depot streets, Unity.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, at Troy Union Church. Burial will be made at Webster Cemetery.

Those who wish may make memorial donations to Troy Ladies Auxiliary, c/o Mrs. Jan Cropley, 515 Bangor Road, Troy ME 04987.

Justin T. Tracy

FARMINGTON — Justin "Judd" True Tracy, 86, of Farmington, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 8, 2000, at Sandy River Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born June 5, 1914, in Poland, a son of Harry and Jennie (Tripp) Tracy. He attended Poland and Auburn schools. While in Auburn, he resided with his uncle, Frank L. Tracy, and his family.

Mr. Tracy was a World War II veteran, having served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from July 1942 until January 1946.

He married the former Priscilla Lovejoy, of Farmington, on Dec. 5, 1942, in Newark, N.J.

Throughout his lifetime, he was employed in various fields, most notably in the construction business, where he was employed by K&H Foster. Later in his career, he worked at a variety of locations throughout Franklin County in building maintenance and custodial services.

He greatly enjoyed nature, trout fishing, woodworking and his garden.

Mr. Tracy's family was very special to him and was much loved.

He was predeceased by an infant son, Leon Brent Tracy; two sisters and two brothers.

Mr. Tracy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Priscilla, of Farmington; his children, Judith Haggerty, and her husband, Charles Haggerty, of Norman, Okla., Justin T. Tracy Jr., and his wife, Judith, of Wilton, and Michael A. Tracy, and his wife, Bette Jo, also of Wilton; a brother, John McCormack Jr., and his wife, Martha, of Oxford; four sisters, Leona Andrews, and her husband, Herbert, of North Waterford, Jessie Fletcher, of East Windsor, Conn., Ethel Heikkinen, of South Paris, and Rose Kelly, of Broad Brook, Conn.; grandchildren, Jessica Marie Tracy, Eben Michael Tracy, Ethan Paul Tracy, Wyatt Thomas Tracy, and Samuel James Tracy; and two step-grandchildren, Ashlee Cote and Andrew Cote.

Family and friends are invited to call one hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service, Friday, Aug. 11, at Wiles Funeral Home, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington. Burial will follow at Webster Cemetery, Farmington.

Those who desire may give gifts in his memory to Androscoggin Home Health Services, PO Box 797, Wilton ME 04294. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
