Blanche A. Haczynski

Blanche A. Haczynski, age 88 of Sanford Road, died Thursday, September 1, 2005 at York Hospital.

She was born in Sanford on November 22, 1916, a daughter of Fred and Mary Lavallie Wentworth.

Blanche attended Sanford schools and worked as an assembler in a heating element manufacturer.

Her two passions in life were buying and selling at yard sales and her dogs. She enjoyed Fox News car chases and CNN News, and was an avid basketball watcher.

Blanche was a member of the Wells Health Association with her friend, Sally.

She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Haczynski; a daughter Jean Kryszat; her brother, Wilbur Wentworth; and her sister, A. Margaret Donovan.

Surviving are her son, Harold Haczynski of Rocky Hill, CT; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

There will be private family services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to:

Carl S. Ricker

Berwick

Berwick- Carl S. Ricker, 72 years, of Route 4, passed away surrounded by family on September 9 after a short battle with cancer.

Carl was born in Berwick, ME on June 23, 1933 a son of the late Alice and Harry Ricker.

Carl attended Berwick schools, served two years in the U.S. Army, worked for General Electric, before working for E. R. Warren in Kennebunk for 38 years from which he retired.

Carl was a “Jack of all trades and a master of them all”.

Two sisters Lillian Ricker and Lucy Berry, and two brothers in law Maurice Berry and Arthur Vaillancourt predeceased him.

Surviving Carl are sisters Florence Hahn and husband Arthur of Glastonbury, CT, Alice Brissette and husband Ben of Wells, ME, and Nancy Vaillancourt of Berwick; brothers Harry of Berwick, Floyd and wife Beth of Lebanon, ME, Chester of Lebanon, and Herbert and wife Rita of Berwick; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

Upon Carl’s request there will be no services. Memorial donations may be made to:

Donald C. Paine
September 22, 2005
Ogunquit

Donald Sylvester Paine, 93, of Seaview Ave, died Thursday night, September 22, 2005 at York Hospital. He was born in North Anson, Maine on August 17, 1912, the first son of Perley and Ivy Jackson Paine. He was educated in North Anson, graduating from his alma mater of Anson Academy.

In 1936, he married Doris Clifford, daughter of Rev. Percy Clifford and Laida Porter. In 1983, he married Dorothy E. (Robinson) James.

Donald came to Ogunquit soon after his first marriage and worked at Russell P. Hutchins garage. During World War II, he was a machinist at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Thereafter, he owned the “Happy Cooking” Propane Gas Company in Wells, and later a successful Laundromat in Somersworth, New Hampshire.

He was a member of Clan Forbes, a life member of Clan Donald, and for many years faithfully served as deacon in the Ogunquit Baptist Church.

His Masonic affiliations are as follows:

Arrangements under the direction of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells.

Estelle F. Lavigne

Estelle Florence Lavigne, 79, of South Street, died Thursday evening at her residence.

She was born in Biddeford on April 27, 1926, a daughter of Joseph O. and Arsenea Richards Neault, and was educated locally.

Estelle worked as a machine operator for Co-Star plastics, and also the Maremont Corporation.

She loved bingo, playing horseshoes with the children, cards, and Yahtzee.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Paul A. Lavigne in 1995; one son: Daniel Lavigne; one brother: George Neault; and one sister: Albertha Sansoucy.

Survivors include:

5 sons: Richard Lavigne of Limington
David Lavigne of Saco
Daniel Lavigne of Tamworth, NH
Michael and Timothy Lavigne of Lyman
2 daughters: Lorraine Andrews of Biddeford
Jane Lavoie of Sanford
1 sister: Exilia Michaud of Massachusetts
15 grandchildren
12 great grandchildren

Visiting hours will be on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Elm Street, Biddeford.

Following cremation, burial will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to:

Gerald J. (Hunter) Chasse

Kennebunk

Gerald J. (Hunter) Chasse, 92, died Monday, September 12, 2005 at Kennebunk Nursing Center after a long illness.

He was born on June 24, 1913 in Skowhegan, ME, the son of Edward (Hunter) Chasse and Georgianna Labonte.

He attended St. Laurent Prep School and St. Laurent College in Montreal where he was a gifted athlete, lettering in hockey, baseball, track and tennis. He received the MVP Award his junior year. He was an athlete throughout his life.

He married Lillian Lessard on May, 30, 1937. They resided in Skowhegan, Kennebunk, Sanford and Wells, Maine and retired to Hollywood, Florida after wintering there for many years.
During WWII, Gerald built Liberty Ships as a welder and ship fitter at the South Portland Shipyard.

Throughout his life, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was happiest when helping others, whether one needed a lawn mowed or you needed a new roof. He loved his friends and family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years of Kennebunk; one son, James P. Chasse of Haverill, MA; two daughters, Patricia A. Chasse of Wells, ME and Carolyn Chasse Nieves of Huntingtown, MD; five grandchildren, Mark Chasse Olson of Dedham, MA, Jennifer Olson Hann of Millis, MA, James A. Chasse, Michael P. Chasse, and Nicole Chasse, all of Haverill, MA; and three great grandchildren, Casey Hann, and Jonathan and Sarah Chasse.

The family wishes to thank the Staff at the Kennebunk Nursing Center for their compassionate care and concern.

There will be no visiting hours.

There will be a celebration of his life with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Eldridge Road, Wells, Maine on Saturday, September 17, at 11:OOa.m., followed by a reception at St. Mary's Parish Hall.

Burial will be at Calvary cemetery in Skowhegan, Maine on Sunday at 11:OOa.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Mary's Church, 236 Eldridge Road, Wells, ME 04090, The Sisters of Mercy, 605 Stevens Avenue, Portland, ME 04103, or the charity of your choice.

Lorraine M. Smith

Lorraine M. Smith, 82, a resident of Ross Road, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005 at the Riverridge Nursing Home with family and friends at her side.

She was born in Connor on June 16, 1923, a daughter of Edward and Clara Thibodeau Lizotte and attended Caribou Schools.

During World War II, she worked as a welder. After the war, she was a chambermaid for several hotels including Norseman and the Lookout, both of Ogunquit, and the Nonantum Hotel of Kennebunkport for over twenty years.

Lorraine enjoyed sewing, cooking, spending time with her family, friends, and she loved gardening. People affectionately called her 'Beans.'

She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Leslie Smith Sr.; a brother, Ben Lizotte; and two sisters, Ida Parent and Irene Martin.

She is survived by her two sons, Leslie Smith and his wife, Gail of Saco, and Kenneth Smith and Meg Pease of Kennebunk; two brothers, Louis Lizotte of North Franklin, Conn., and Fred Lizotte of Lebanon, Conn.; five grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and also her dear friend, Jean Hopkins of Kennebunk.

Visiting hours will be held from 10-11 AM, Monday, Sept. 12, at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with the Reverend Father Laurent Laplante officiating.

Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.

In lieu of flower, friends who desire may make memorial donations to:
