Mr. William A. Slattery

WESTPARIS - William A. Slattery, 91, of Pioneer Street, West Paris, died Sunday, December 2, 2001 at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.
Born in South Paris on December 20, 1909, he was the son of Roscoe D. and Lilla S. Swift Slattery . He graduated from Paris High School in the class of 1927
He had been employed as a machinist, miner, railroad worker, at A. C. Lawrence Tannery and most recently as a foreman at Penleys in West Paris, retiring in 1971.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows, the West Paris Baptist Church, West Paris Senior Citizens, and Hunter's Camp.
He married the former Doris Richardson on June 29, 1929; she died November 21, 2001 .
He is survived by a sister, Mabelle S. Merrill, of South Paris, a son-in-law, Erwin Heath of Greene; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy R. Slattery of Waterford, CN; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Barbara S. Heath and a son Commander Francis A. Slattery, U.S.N. , Captain of the submarine USS Scorpion , lost off the Azores in May of 1968.
Funeral services were held at Wednesday December 5, at the Andrews Funeral Home in South Woodstock; burial in the family lot at the Riverside Annex Cemetery in South Paris.
Those who wish may make contributions in Mr. Slattery's memory to the West Paris Baptist Church , Church St. West Paris, ME 04289.

Mr. Curtis B. Chandler III

WEST PARIS - Curtis 'Buddy' B. Chandler III, 32, of West Paris died suddenly September 9 as a result of an automobile accident. He was born in Wareham, MA on July 1, 1972, the son of Curtis, Jr. and Alice Russell Chandler. He graduated from Wareham High School and was the owner of Chandler Trucking Company.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Scott Chandler of West Paris; his three children, Courtnie, age 11, Brittnie age eight and Curtis IV, age five; his father, Curtis Chandler, Jr. of Wareham, MA and two sisters, Joyce Chandler and Eunice Westgate both of Wareham, MA. He was predeceased by his mother.
Family and friends called at the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, South Paris on Saturday, September 11 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Mrs. Connie M. Jacobs

BUCKFIELD - Connie M. Jacobs, 59, wife of Lionel "Jerry" Jacobs, died at the Central Maine Medical Center on November 4, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born in California on November 25, 1944, the daughter of Noel and Rachel Engstrom. She lived her early life in North Dakota and moved to Maine after her marriage to Lionel Jacobs on December 20, 1974.
She loved stock car racing, NASCAR, the Maniacs and most of all her family.
Mrs. Jacobs is survived by her husband of 30 years, Jerry of Buckfield; one son, Clay Jacobs of Buckfield; her mother; two sisters, Judy Hunter and her husband Gary, Kim Rosbeag and her husband Dean and one brother, Marlan Engstrom all of North Dakota; brother-in-law, Lew Jacobs and his wife Nancy of Buckfield; sister-in-law Evelyn Burnham and her companion Ray Boissoneau of Buckfield; several nieces and nephews and special friends Judy Damon of Buckfield and Donna Jerry of Jay.
She was predeceased by her father, Noel and a brother, Renny.
Relatives and friends were invited to call at the Andrews Funeral Home, High Street, Buckfield on Saturday, November 6 from 2-3 p.m. with funeral services held at 3 p.m. Burial was in the Damon Cemetery, Buckfield.
Memorials in her memory may be made to the Buckfield Rescue, P.O. Box 99, Buckfield, ME 04220.

Mrs. Jeannette L. Tuttle

SOUTHPARIS - Jeannette L. Tuttle, 64, a longtime resident of Norway, died Sunday, October 21, 2001, at the Market Square Health Care Center, after a long illness.
Born in Canton, MA, on July 20, 1937, she was the daughter of Edward and Rita Powers Dailey.
She devoted her working life caring for others as a nurse from her start at the Massachusetts Hospital School for Crippled Children to her later career as a certified nurse's aide in Norway area homes and nursing homes.
She enjoyed bingo, traveling, reading and her family.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Donald, of Norway; a son, Donald, Jr. and his wife, Margaret, of Yarmouth; two daughters, Suzanne and Sandra of Norway; the finest grandson, Dereck, of Norway; two brothers, Edward Dailey, Jr. and his wife, June, of Canton, MA and William Dailey and his wife, Karen, of Norwood, MA; two sisters, Judy Marcone and her husband, John, of Canton, MA and Jill Gross and her husband, Mark, of Canton, MA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph, also of Canton, MA, husband of Alta Dailey.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, Norway.
Those who wish may make memorial gifts in her memory to Androscoggin Home Health, Pottle Road, Oxford, Maine.

Mr. George E. Brackett

LAKELAND, FL - George E. Brackett, formerly of Belfast, died following a brief illness at Lakeland Memorial Hospital in Lakeland, Fl on Sunday, March 20, 2005. He was 82.
He was born on June 13, 1922 in Searsport to Stuart and Hazel Brackett.
He served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theater in the U.S. Army. Mr. Brackett was a lifelong member of the Masons.
He was a 50-year member of the Tranquil Lodge # 29 in Auburn.
He spent 50 years working in the Maine shoe industry.
He was a long-time resident of the Crockett Ridge Road in Norway before retiring to Florida.
Mr. Brackett is survived by his wife, Shirley Brackett of Lakeland, FL; a sister, Margaret Merrithew of Searsport; brothers, Stuart Brackett of Hermon and Fred Brackett of Searsport; a son, Jeffrey Brackett of Poland; daughters, Kathryn Edwards of Brunswick and Beth Sullivan of Salem, CT; grandchildren, Jessica Brackett, Christopher Brackett, Kristina Edwards, Shawn Edwards, William Edwards and Taja Sullivan Slaughter and great-grandson, Hunter James Brackett.
Mr. Brackett will be cremated and interned at a small, private family service at the Bushnell Veterans Cemetery.

Mr. Clyde H. West, Sr.

OXFORD - Clyde H. West, Sr., 73, of Oxford died Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.
He was born in Cuptal on August 29, 1931, the son of Charles and Clara Brewer West. He attended Oxford schools and had been a woodsman all of his life. He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army in Korea. He enjoyed poker and beano. He married Joanne Baker on September 5, 2000.
Mr. West is survived by his wife of Oxford; two sons, Clyde West, Jr. and his wife Siobhan of South Paris and Michael West and his wife Debra of Oxford; two stepdaughters, Debbie Kasevich of Norway and Penny Mize of Georgia; three stepsons, Scott Strout of South Paris, Dean Strout of Massachusetts and Randy Rugg of St. Petersburg, FL.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and four sisters, Dorothy, Ellie, Theresa and Beryl. He was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth Smith West; a daughter, Cythia and two brothers, Charles and George.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 30 at 10 a.m. at Weston Chandler Funeral Home, 45 Main St., South Paris with Interment following at Riverside Cemetery in Oxford. Family and friends called at the funeral home on Friday evening, April 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. Remembrance donations can be made to the Stone-Smart American Legion Post #82, Main St., Norway, ME 04268.

Mr. Leroy S. (Bucky) Toothaker

OXFORD - Leroy S. (Bucky) Toothaker, 79, of Oxford, died early Friday morning, June 17, 2005 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Cundys Harbor on May 27, 1926, the son of Samuel and Wygonda Bennett Toothaker. On June 18, 1948, he married Barbara Field in South Paris.
Mr. Toothaker served his country in the United States Navy during World War ll. He was a member of the American Legion Post 112 of Oxford. He worked at Wilner Wood Heel for twenty-four years, later for SAD #17 as a school bus driver for 26 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, camping and was a jack of all trades. In the eyes of his grandchildren, Grampa could fix anything. He loved telling stories and reminiscing about past experiences; he was always entertaining his family and friends.
Mr. Toothaker is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Barbara; three children, Larry and his wife Judy Toothaker of Oxford, Peggy Kennison of Oxford and Richard and his wife Rebecca Toothaker of Oxford; a brother, Fred Toothaker of Monmouth; a sister, Roberta Wallace of Cundy's Harbor; two half brothers, David Toothaker of Hebron and Wayne Bennett; a half sister, Madonna Lowrey of Florida; six grandchildren, Tricia Johnson and husband Rodney, Becki Kimball and husband Douglas, Kyle Kennison and wife Kaylie, Christopher Kennison and wife Carolyn, Chad Toothaker and Kami Toothaker and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Walter Toothaker and Jim Toothaker.
Family and friends were invited to attend graveside services on Monday, June 20, at 11 a.m. at the Fore Street Cemetery in Oxford. Military Honors were by American Legion Post 112 Oxford. In lieu of flowers donations in Mr. Toothaker's memory may be sent to either the American Cancer Society, 1 Main Street, Suite 300 Topsham, ME 04086-1240 or to Androscoggin Home Health, 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, ME 04243. Arrangements under the care of Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main Street, Oxford.

Mr. Bertrand 'Bert' R. LaValliere

SOUTH PARIS - Bertrand "Bert" R. LaValliere died at the Maine Veterans' Home in South Paris early Tuesday morning, January 24, 2006.
He was born in Lewiston on January 12, 1933, the son of Romeo and Alice Giroux Lavalliere.
Mr. LaValliere served his country as a Sergeant in the Air Force in 1951.
He was a teacher and taught in Clinton, Oxford and Scarborough schoolsand he traveled all over the USA and Canada.
He loved to fish, hunt and go camping in the great Canadian Rockies and Alaska.
Surviving are his sister-in-law of Lewiston and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Paul and Gerard and a sister, Jeanne. At Mr. LaValliere's request there will be no visiting hours or services.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Maine Veterans' Home, 477 HIgh St., South Paris, ME 04281. Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home, Casco.
