ROBERT J. "DOLLY" DuPLESSIS
GREENVILLE - Robert J. "Dolly" DuPlessis, 73, loving husband of Cheryl L. (Foster) DuPlessis for more than 30 years, died March 17, 2002, at C.A. Dean Hospital, Greenville, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 3, 1928, in Old Town, the son of Abel and Priscilla (Lanouette) DuPlessis. He worked for the A&P for 30 years, after which he owned and operated Dollys Supermarket in Jackman until 1984. He moved to Stuart, Fla., in 1984, and worked for Martin County Property Appraisers, until retirement in 1999, when he relocated to Greenville. He was an avid fly fisherman and a former member of the 195th Army Band in Bangor. He will be greatly remembered for his generosity, sense of humor and love of people.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; one son and his wife, Alan R. and Anne DuPlessis; one daughter and her husband, Donna M. and Dave Maynard; two granddaughters, Brandy L. DuPlessis and Krystal E. Dorr; one brother, Abel DuPlessis Jr.; and three sisters, Lorriane Cormier, Sr. Marie Gerarda and Sr. Angelina Lirette; several nieces and nephews, and one special companion, his dog, "Maggie". He was predeceased by his father and mother, one brother, Rudolph DuPlessis; and one sister, Janet Mansur.

A memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2002, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Greenville, with Fr. Ed Morin presiding. Burial will be in the spring in the family lot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Old Town. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dolly's memory to: C.A. Dean Hospital, P.O. Box 1129, Greenville, ME 04441. Arrangements by McCrory Funeral Home, Greenville.

JOSEPH A. NORMANDO
NEWPORT - Joseph Amedee Normando, 82, died March 19, 2002 at the USVA hospital in Togus. He was born June 19, 1919 at Mexico the son of Amedee Joseph and Anna (Granger) Normandeau. Joseph served in the 4th Armored Division, European Theatre, U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, and it's related organizations.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor (Hart) Normando of Newport; 3 daughters, Brenda and husband Henry Thompson of Friendship, Evelyn Normando of Newport, Nancy and husband Gary Ricker of North Yarmouth; grandchildren, Shannon and Michelle Blossom, Henry Thompson, Jr. and wife Carolyn, and Peni-Jo Reed and husband Jesse; great grandchildren Brianna and Abby Johnson, Travis and Taylah Reed, Henry III, Ashley, Caleb, and Trevor Thompson.

At the family's request, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held later in the spring at the family lot, Riverside Cemetery, Newport, with Father Raymond Morency officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport.

JOHN J. DOLPHIN
DOVER-FOXCROFT - John J. Dolphin, 86, husband of the late Gertrude (Clark) Dolphin, died March 19, 2002, at a local hospital. born Nov. 28, 1915, in Pittsfield, Mass., he was educated in Massachusetts schools, graduating from St. Joseph Central High School in 1933. Jack always worked serving the public. With his attention to detail, a strong sense of proper etiquette, and a delightful sense of humor, it is no wonder he made many friends and experienced success in several careers throughout his lifetime. He ended his first career at the Williams Inn, Williamstown, Mass., as the head desk clerk. He moved on to work as a manager in the shoe business for the Herbert Shoe Company, which eventually brought him and his family to Brewer in 1946. Still later, moving his family to Dover-Foxcroft, Jack will always be remembered for his success as a trusted Metropolitan Life insurance agent. He was honored to be a member of the President's Club, a group of agents who have achieved exceptional sales performance. A milestone in his life, Jack was always very proud that he was able to retire early at the age of 55 years, after 22 years with Metropolitan. He had established such a fine reputation that many people sought his advice concerning insurance needs throughout his entire life. Jack will always be remembered, by some as an ardent fisherman who loved to go fishing with his wife. To others, there was nothing like a good game of cards with a group of friends on a Saturday night. Many will recall some wonderful times out on the golf course. Jack will be remembered for many things, but first and foremost, for his many kind words and good deeds he performed for his many friends over the years. He was always willing to provide a ride to the doctor or a trip to the store; he was especially faithful to his visits to friends that were shut-in. Jack Dolphin loved life and had a wonderful habit of spreading that around.

Jack is survived by a son, John Jr. and his wife, Stephanie of Santa Cruz, Calif.; two daughters, Ruby and her husband, William Tarrant of Sangerville, and Cathryn and her husband, Alan Nelson of Sonora, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He will be remembered by his very devoted friends, Suzanne and Bruce Raymond and their family of Dover-Foxcroft.

Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, where funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, March 22, with the Rev. David McLeish officiating. Burial will be later in the spring in the family lot in Rural Grove Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to either Mayo Regional Hospital, 65 West Main St., Dover-Foxcroft 04426; or to Foxcroft Academy, 147 West Main St., Dover-Foxcroft 04426.

VIRGINIA S. WHITE
ATKINSON - Virginia S. White, 71, died peacefully March 21, 2002 at her home surrounded by family. She was born January 12, 1931, in Westboro, Mass., daughter of Warren and Inez (McCarty) Smith. She was a past Worthy Matron of Bethany Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Westboro, Mass., and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Dover-Foxcroft. Ginny worked at State Mutual Insurance Co. in Worcester, Mass. She enjoyed baking, gardening, traveling, and reading.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 53 years, Calvin White, of Atkinson; three sons and their wives, Donald and Nancy White of Atkinson, Kenneth and Irene White of Atkinson, and Douglas and Therese White of Minn.; a daughter and her husband Nancy and Karl Axelson of Georgetown; three sisters and their husbands, Marjorie and Ernest Bridges of Virginia, Donna Kluefer of Virginia, and Amanda and Robert Westgate of Florida; two special grandchildren, Colleen and Rita White of Minn., and many beloved friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Warren Smith of Virginia.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am, Saturday May 4, 2002 at the Atkinson cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Dale officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to the charity of their choice. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.

ALMA B. JENKINS
GUILFORD - Alma B. Jenkins, 82, died March 20, 2002 at a Skowhegan hospital. She was born November 10, 1919 in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of J. Frank and Pearl (Crozier) Roberts. She grew up on the family farm in Abbot where she was Valedictorian of the last class to graduate from Abbot High School in 1938. On March 26, 1939 she married Gus A. Jenkins who predeceased her in 1976. After retiring from Guilford of Maine in 1982, Alma enjoyed spending time at her Piper Pond camp. She was a very loyal, dedicated member of area organizations with Chiquita Temple of Pythian Sisters, the Rebekahs, American Legion Auxiliary, Garden Club, and the Guilford Historical Society being the ones where she was most active as long as her health permitted.

Survivors include a brother, Dr. Norman F. Roberts and wife Shoko of Pearl City, Hawaii; a sister, Katheryn E. Sakahara and husband Glenn, of Abbot; nieces Rusella (Mitchell) Johnson, Robin Roberts, and Kathryn (Roberts) Yamate; nephews Richard, Jon, Jay, Timothy, Norman Jr., and Kenneth Roberts; and many grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Myona G. Mitchell, a brother, Duane C. Roberts, and a nephew, Ronald L. Mitchell. She also will be remembered by her special caregivers at Somerset Rehab and Living Center in Bingham.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2002 from 2-4 pm at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. A committal service will be held at the Elmwood cemetery in Guilford later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to the Scholarship Fund of the Conner-Trafton American Legion Auxiliary, P.O. Box 215, Guilford, ME 04443.

EDWARD J. TULLY
MONSON - Edward J. Tully, 79, died March 20, 2002, at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Plainfield, New Jersey December 7, 1922, son of Henry and Lillian (Finnsey) Tully. Edward was a World War II Navy Veteran who received a Purple Heart in Africa and a Silver Star in Europe. He was a volunteer firemen in Mendham, New Jersey from 1954 to 1985, and served as Fire Chief in 1980 and 1981. Edward was a Designer and Methods Mechanic for Mepco Electra for 30 years. He was also a craftsman and wood worker in his own shop. He belonged to the Monson American Legion and the Fire Chief’s Association, and he served as the Willimantic Building Inspector.

Edward is survived by his wife, of 57 years, Norma (Major) Tully of Monson; his children: Sharon Smith of Monroe, Maine; Edward L. Tully of Walnut Creek, California; Marianne Patino of Englewood, New Jersey; Cynthia Tully of Walnut Creek, California; and John Tully of Concord, California. Edward has nine grandchildren. Ed was an active man who loved people, laughter, and most of all his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A Memorial service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, March 24, 2002, at the Monson Community Church in Monson, with Rev. Lloyd Rozelle officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside cemetery in Willimantic, later in the spring. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.

CHARLES W. WILSON
CORINTH - Charles W. Wilson, 92, husband of the late Eleanor (Chadwick) Wilson, died March 23, 2002, at a Bangor hospital, after a short illness. He was born Aug. 6, 1909, in Bangor, the son of Herbert and Lucy (Worster) Wilson. He was a member of the Water-Oak Gem and Mineral Club, and had been an avid rock hound for many years. He was a lifelong machinist and welder, working for Fayscott Machine Shop in Dexter and also owned and operated his own welding shop in Dexter for many years. He had been a former resident of Levant and Dexter, moving to Corinth about 20 years ago.

He is survived by a son, John Wilson and his wife, Ione of Dexter; two daughters, Anne Sinclair and her husband, Gary of Fallbrook, Calif., Paula Thompson and her husband, Raymond of Corinth; three sisters, Marion Clewley of Arizona, Ruby Campbell of Tennessee and Carolyn Ellis of Bangor; a brother-in-law, Carroll Oakes of Bangor; a dear friend, Dorothy Gosselin of Eddington; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by two brothers, Herbert and George; two sisters, Helen Oakes and Ruth Pearson.

Friends may call at the Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Rd., Corinth, from 12 noon until time of services at 1 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Michael Pike officiating. Burial will be in Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth.

PAUL E. LaBREE
SANGERVILLE - Paul E. LaBree, 86, died March 24, 2002, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. He was born August 27, 1915, in Guilford, son of Harry and Edith (Backus) LaBree. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Stott-Flanders American Legion Post in Sangerville. Paul worked at Guilford Industries and later for the Draper Corporation, now Pride’s Manufacturing in Guilford. For fifteen years prior to his retirement Paul worked in the maintenance department for S.A.D. #4 in Guilford.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lillian (Wilson) LaBree of Sangerville; a son, David H. LaBree of Brewer and Florida.

At his request there will be no public calling hours. Graveside services will be held 11 am Wednesday May 15, 2002 at the Lawn cemetery in Guilford. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.

ELIZABETH M. DUBATS
WILLIMANTIC - Elizabeth M. “Betty” Dubats, 74, died March 24, 2002 at her home in Willimantic following a long illness.She was born November 20, 1927 in Stratford, Conn., daughter of Bertram and Klara Olah. She worked for Avco Lycoming Company in Stratford, Conn. for many years retiring in 1986 when she moved to Maine. She was a member of Valley Grange #144, Piscataquis Pamona Grange #11, Piscataquis County Extension, and was a volunteer at Mayo Regional Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Dubats of Willimantic; a daughter, Susan Kenney and her husband David of Conn.; 2 sons, Robert Kaminski of NJ and Ricky Kaminski of Vermont; a granddaughter, Kyle Marie Fuller of Maryland; a sister, Pearl Ponchak of Conn.

Friends may call at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford, Monday 2-4 and 6-7 pm with funeral services following at 7 pm with Rev. Kenneth Dale officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Assn., P. O. Box 346 Augusta, Maine 04330.

MARY E. HEATH
PITTSFIELD & CORINNA - Mary Elizabeth Heath, 53, died unexpectedly March 25, 2002 at her Dexter Road residence. She was born November 13, 1948 at Milo the daughter of Llewellyn and Marion (Williams) Moulton. After graduating from Corinna Union Academy in 1966, she met and married Dale Heath in 1967. They raised three children in Pittsfield before divorcing in 1987. Mary was a hard worker who had several jobs during her lifetime, some concurrently. She was last employed as a police dispatcher for the Town of Pittsfield from 1985 to 1998. She enjoyed the beautiful Maine coastline, visiting her children, family and friends and taking care of Cheyenne. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard "Dickie" C. Moulton in 1986 and her mother, Marion L. Moulton in 1996.

She is survived by her father, Llewellyn W. Moulton of Corinna; 3 children, Michael D. Heath and Kerbon P. Heath, both of Falmouth, Amy L. and her husband, William F. Robinson of Topsham; a brother, Paul L. Moulton of Corinna; a sister, K. M. and her husband, James S. Hartsgrove of Newport; 2 nieces, 2 nephews, several aunts, uncles, and special friends, Tanya and her daughter Cheyenne Stewart of Dexter and Edie Poulin of Detroit.

Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Friday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, March 30th with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Spring burial will be in the Corinna Center Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception following the funeral at the Newport Church of God.

LOUISE E. RUMERY
GUILFORD - Louise Evelyn Rumery, 69, beloved wife of the late Alonzo Rumery, went home to be with the Lord, March 25, 2002. She died at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 17, 1932, in Oakland, the daughter of Douglas and Macy (Shaw) Ellis. She grew up in Abbot and lived there most of her life before moving to Guilford in 1993. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. When she was nine, she contracted polio, which virtually left her left arm useless, but this didn't stop her from raising three children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a mom, friend and confidant to everyone she knew.

She is survived by two sons and their children, Alonzo and his wife, Cathy Rumery of Westville, Okla. and their daughters, Lolita Rumery of Westville, Okla. and Cathy Hall and her children, Justin and Caleb, all of Wells, and Alonzo's son, Bill Rumery of Wells; Lester and his wife, Bonnie Rumery, and their children, Matthew and Jon, and grandchildren, Cullen, Jon Jr. and Savannah, all of Charlton, Mass.; a daughter, Macy and her husband, Butch Larrabee, and their children, Amy McGill and Amber Larrabee, all of Dover-Foxcroft; a sister, Constance and her husband, Stanley Carpenter of Abbot; a brother, Douglas and his wife, Marge Ellis of Monson. She was predeceased by two sisters, Maxine Patterson and Barbara Sprague; and a brother, Richard Ellis. She was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed by friends and family alike, especially her dear friends, Mary Smith, Beverly Dow, and Vicki Dyer; and an aunt, Gladys Gooding.

Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2002, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. Graveside memorial services at the family lot in Abbot Cemetery, will be announced later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Abbot Evangelical Free Church Food Cupboard, care of Keith and Debbie Batchelder, P.O. Box 14, Abbot 04406.

PHILIP J. KEEGAN
NEWPORT - Philip J. Keegan, 64, died March 26, 2002 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born January 8, 1938 at Bangor the son of William and Mabel (Parent) Keegan. After graduating from Newport High School, Phil served in the U. S. Air Force. He later worked with several area electrical contractors.

He is survived by a brother, Charles Keegan of Newport, and a sister, Rosalie Wyman of Augusta.

Services will be private. Burial will be later in the spring at Pittsfield Village Cemetery. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport.

WARREN L. PEARL, SR.
EXETER & DEXTER - Warren L. Pearl, Sr., 77, beloved husband of Leola (Woodard) Pearl went home to be with his Lord March 26, 2002 peacefully surrounded by his family at his Dexter residence. He was born June 28, 1924 at Orneville, the son of Everett Pearl and Mary (Herbest) Pearl Philpot. He was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in Europe. He resided in Exeter for 35 years before moving to Dexter in 1994. He was a long-time member of the Exeter Full Gospel Church and the Dexter American Legion. Warren worked in the dairy and logging industry before entering the area mills in 1960. He worked at the Irving Tannery in Hartland, FayScott in Dexter and retired from the Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Leola of Dexter; 5 children, Warren L. Pearl Jr. of Amesbury, MA, Loretta "Sue" and her husband, Gerald Lonesky of Worthington, OH, Rita and her husband, Richard Broad of Corinth, Deborah Pearl of Bangor and Arnold "Butch" and his wife, Jackie Thompson of Exeter; a brother, Charles Philpot of Clinton; 4 sisters, Charlene Jones of Bradford, Madeline Lancaster of Ft. Worth, TX, Helen Pierce and Judy Monroe both of Williston, VT; 9 grandchildren, Everette Pearl of MA, Regina and her husband, Jeff Wilson of Methuen, MA, Russell Warren Broad and his wife, Jennifer Broad of Corinth, Marie and her husband, Mark Pearlscott of Seattle, WA, Rhoda and her husband, Willie Underhill of Stetson, Joanna and her husband, Greg Traussi of Standish, Robert Thompson of Kenduskeag, Jeffrey Thompson and Valerie Thompson both of Exeter; 10 great grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews; and a special sister-in-law, Nancy Woodard of Dexter. Warren was predeceased by a brother, Lee Pearl.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, March 30th at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna with the Rev. Chris Faloon officiating. Friends may call from 1 P.M. until the time of the service. Spring burial will be in the Exeter Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Exeter Full Gospel Church, P. O. Box 24, Exeter, ME 04435. The family extends special thanks to Community Health & Counseling Hospice Services and Nurse Marcia.

JANE E. BUCKLEY
BROWNVILLE - Jane E. Buckley, 84, wife of the late Ballard Buckley, died March 26, 2002, at her residence. She was born July 17, 1917, in Brownville, the daughter of Harry and Catherine (Ellis) Stone. She was a member and past deaconess of the Brownville Community Church, where she served on the Social Committee and with the Ladies Circle. She was also a member of the Brownville Historical Society, the Brownville High School Alumni Association, and the Junior Welfare Club.

Mrs. Buckley is survived by a son, Gregory of Two Rivers, Wis.; two daughters, Helene Sanborn of Milo, and Diane Kirby of New Gloucester; a sister, Helen Pennington of Brownville; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by many dear friends. She was predeceased by two brothers, David and Edward.

Friends are invited to call 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2002, at the Lary Funeral Home, Milo. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at the Brownville Community Church, with the Rev. George Ganglfinger officiating. Burial in the family lot in Brownville Village cemetery will be later in the spring. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to either the Brownville Community Church, P.O. Box 682, Brownville 04414 or to Three Rivers Ambulance, P.O. Box 432, Milo 04463.
