Augusta

Constance Champagne Marson Age 65, of Duncan Road died Tuesday January 2, 2001 at her home following a long battle with cancer. She was born in Augusta June 25, 1935 the daughter of Adolph J. and Marie Anna (Lapointe) Champagne.

Mrs. Marson was a communicant of St Mary's Catholic Church. She was a 1954 graduate of Cony High School. For over 23 years, she had been employed by Government Employees Credit Union of Maine and retired as the Togus Branch Office Manager.

She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and was a 1964 Charter Member of Abnaki Council Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Natanis Golf Club.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years Brian R. Marson Jr. of Augusta; a son Brian R. Marson III and his wife Gail of Augusta; a daughter Ann Marie Marson of Augusta; four brothers: Rudolph J. Champagne of Augusta; Joseph C. Champagne and his wife Theresa of Lisbon; George Champagne and his wife Theresa of Ashland, Ore. and Robert J. Champagne of Augusta; three sisters: Jeannette Doyon and her husband Fern of Lewiston; Theresa Cote of Augusta and Lorraine Hopkins and her husband Ronald of Augusta; two grandchildren: Allyssa Marie Marson and Alaina Caylee Marson, an aunt Germaine Lieby of Montreal Canada, also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers Normand J. Champagne and Bertrand J. Champagne also two sisters Loretta Assid and Florence Doyon.

At her request, there will be no hours of visitation.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday morning at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be at a later date.

Those who desire, may make donations in her memory to HealthReach Hospice - P.O. Box 1568, Waterville, Maine - 04903-1568 or to St Augustine Catholic Education Trust 1 Kendall Street, Augusta, Maine - 04330 or to St Mary's Parish Memorial Fund 41 Western Avenue, Augusta, Maine - 04330 envelopes will be available at the Church.

HALLOWELL

Robert B. McLeary, Jr. - age 82 of Aspen Lane and formerly of Lakeview Dr., Readfield, died unexpectedly Monday, January 15, 2001 at MaineGeneral Medical Center - Augusta Campus. He was born in Strong on October 21, 1918 the son of Robert B. McLeary, Sr. and Marion (Johnson) McLeary.

Mr. McLeary was a graduate of Farmington High School had a post graduate year at Hebron Academy and graduated from the University of Maine in Orono, Class of 1942 where he received a Bachelors Degree in Education.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during WW II.

Mr. McLeary owned and operated his own clothing store, McLeary's Men's Store on Water St. in Augusta and more recently was a life insurance salesman for Jones - Hoxie Life Insurance Co.

He was a member of Readfield United Methodist Church, the Augusta Kiwanis Club where he received his "50 Year" pin and was a very active member of the Club Meeting/Program Committee, was a member of Lafayette Masonic Lodge #48 in Readfield, the Scottish Rite, and was a member and Past Potentate of Kora Temple Shrine in Lewiston, a member of Kennebec Valley Shrine Club, founding member and affectionately known as the "Godfather" of Mid-Coast Shrine Club, and was a former member of South Parish Congregational Church in which he had been very active.

Bob was a sports enthusiast and a gifted athlete, lettering in several sports during his high school and college days. He was a person who genuinely cared for others. His kindness and warmth touched the lives of many people. He will be sadly missed by those he touched.

Mr. McLeary was pre-deceased by his parents, a daughter, Janet McLeary Baxter and a brother, Fredrick McLeary.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gladys (Clark) McLeary of Hallowell; a brother, Wilfred L. McLeary of Stevensville, MD; a sister, Nan McLeary Stanek and her husband Bill of Hampton, NH; a granddaughter, Julie Baxter Bogart and her husband Matthew of Wells; an aunt, Maxine Ryan of Wilton; an uncle, Delmar Johnson of Farmington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday at 2 PM at Readfield United Methodist Church, Kents Hill with Rev. Karen Munson, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be held in the spring at the family lot in Fairview Cemetery, Farmington, ME.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's name may be made to: Readfield United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 286, Kents Hill, ME 04349, the Shriners Burn Center or Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, C/O Kora Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S., 11 Sabattus St., Lewiston, ME 04240.

AUGUSTA

Mary D. Murphy - age 91 of Westwood Rd., died Wednesday, September 27, 2000 at Stonegates Nursing Home in Wilmington, DE after a long illness. She was born in Waterville on January 5, 1909 the daughter of William and Hazel (Larkin) Dignam.

Mrs. Murphy was a homemaker for most of her life and had been a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Augusta.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, John J. Murphy in 1997.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by a son, Dr. John J. Murphy, Jr. of Wilmington, DE.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Augusta.

Burial and committal prayers will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Manchester.

Augusta

Michael A. Napolitano Sr. - 92 of 22 Elm Street died Wednesday morning at his home after a brief illness. He was born in Portland September 2, 1908 the son of Barbado and Concetta Napolitano.

Mr. Napolitano attended Portland Schools and graduated from Cheverus High School in 1927 and from Bentley School of Accounting and Finance in 1929.

He was a communicant of St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, a member of Abnaki Council # 334 - 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, Abnaki Assembly # 346 - 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and was a Past Faithful Navigator of the Assembly in 1949, a member of the Augusta Kiwanis Club and a past Treasurer having served in that capacity for over 25 years and a member of the Maine State Retirees Association.

He entered State Service with the State Department of Audit in 1934 and was State Deputy State Auditor 1951-1957 served as State Auditor 1957-1965 and was re-elected in 1969, served as State Treasurer for the State of Maine 1967-1968, the Maine Republican State Committee Treasurer 1958-1968, was Chairman of the Augusta Republican City Committee from 1955-1958, was on the Augusta City Government 1948-1954 and served as President of the Board of Alderman 1953-1954 and was Chairman of the Finance Committee.

During State Service, he served as Chairman of State Merit Award Board, Director of the Maine State Employees Association and President of the Vickery and Hill Chapter of M.S.E.A., following State Service, he was employed by the Bank of Maine (presently, Fleet Bank) as its first Internal Auditor, served as Internal Auditor for Dirigo Bank and Trust Co.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years Rose (Pelton) Napolitano of Augusta a son Michael A. Napolitano Jr. of Augusta and a daughter Connie Dunn of Augusta two grandsons: Peter E. Dunn Jr. and Jeffrey M. Napolitano and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may visit Friday October 13th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Plummer Funeral Home 16 Pleasant Street where Officers and members of Abnaki Council # 334- 3rd Degree Knights are asked to meet for their prayer service for their departed member. Officers and members of the Color Corps of Abnaki Assembly # 346 - 4th Degree Knights of Columbus are asked to meet at 6:30 P.M. in Full Regalia at the funeral home to prepare for the posting of the guard for their Sir Knight and for the presentation of the Chalice at the conclusion of the hours of visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 from St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Avenue, Augusta. Burial will follow in Old St Mary's cemetery Winthrop Street, Augusta.

PORTOLA VALLEY, CA

Lauren Shelby Neale-May - age 14 of Applewood Lane, died unexpectedly Wednesday, October 4, 2000 in Bethel, ME. She was born in Palo Alto, CA on June 9, 1986 the daughter of Donovan A. and Candace S. (Burley) Neale-May.

Miss Neale-May was a Freshman at New Hampton School in New Hampton, NH and had previously attended St. Joseph's School in Atherton, CA.

She attended Menlo Park Presbyterian Church.

Miss Neale-May enjoyed playing soccer, basketball, softball, skiing, golf and volleyball and loved cooking and art.

She was pre-deceased by her paternal grandparents, John E. and Phyllis E. Neale-May.

Miss Neale-May is survived by her parents, Donovan A. Neale-May of Los Altos, CA and Candace S. (Burley) Neale-May of Portola Valley, CA; a brother, Gregory R. Neale-May of Portola Valley, CA; a sister, Kimberly T. Neale-May of Los Angeles, CA; her maternal grandparents, Richard H. and Gertrude H. Burley of Hernado, FL; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins both in the United States and South Africa.

There will be no public visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Friday, October 13th at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church, Menlo Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: World Servants, 7130 Portland Ave. South, Minneapolis, MN 55423.

Miami, Florida

Stanley P. Ochmanski, Sr - age 80 of SW 146 Ave., Miami died Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at Mercy Hospital after a long illness. He was born on February 26, 1920 in Augusta, Maine, the son of the late Frank and Michelina (Popowich) Ochmanski.

Mr. Ochmanski served in the United States Air Force for 27 years and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO4). After retirement from the Air Force, Mr. Ochmanski worked for the National Safety Council, The Hartford Insurance Group, ARA Ground Services and the City of Hialeah in various management positions. Mr. Ochmanski was Manager, Corporate Ground Safety for Eastern Airlines in Miami, retiring in 1974.

Mr. Ochmanski obtained a Bachelor's and Masters Degree in Business Management from Florida International University. He was a Professional Safety Engineer.

Stanley was preceded in death by brothers Frank Ochmanski, Jr. and Louis Ochmanski.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret L. (McMonigle) Ochmanski of Miami; two sons, Stanley Ochmanski, Jr. and wife Susan of St. Cloud, FL, Thomas Ochmanski and wife Laurie of Miami; three daughters, Nancy Beames and husband William, Paula Bruce and husband James Jr. and Susan Vita and husband Michael all of Miami; two brothers, Charles Ochmanski of Vero Beach, FL and Edward Ochmanski of South Portland, ME; five sisters, Josephine Berry of Newport, RI, Helen Atkinson of Bath, ME, Emily Quinn of Exeter, NH, Rose Sipowicz of South Portland, ME and Betty Kidder of Farmingdale, ME; grandchildren Paul Ochmanski Renick, Matthew Ochmanski, Jennifer Beames, Caitlin Ochmanski, Ryan Ochmanski and James Bruce, III; great-granddaughters Hayley and Kayla Renick.

Family will receive friends Thursday from 7-9 PM at Alligood Carroll Funeral Home, 17345 So. Dixie Highway, Miami, Florida. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 11291 SW 142 Avenue, Miami, Florida. Family and friends will gather at the family home immediately following the Mass. Interment will be in Maine Veteran's Memorial cemetery in Augusta, ME on Dec. 18, 2000 at 11 AM.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.

AUGUSTA

Ivy S. Overlock – age 73, formerly of Cony Street Extension, died January 4, 2001 at Maine Veterans Home after a long illness. She was born in Jefferson, Maine on February 25, 1927 the daughter of Alexander Sayers and Martha (Fletcher) Sayers.

Mrs. Overlock was a graduate of Cony High School and had been employed as a bookkeeper by the Maine Dairy Council for 10 years.

She was a member of Green Street United Methodist Church of Augusta who enjoyed reading prayers with members of Jehovah Witnesses at Kingdom Hall in Chelsea.

Her husband, Loren Lee Overlock, died on Sept. 4, 1993.

Surviving are four sons, Alan Overlock of Scotsdale, Ariz., Jerry Overlock of Newport Richey, FL, James Overlock of Fairfield Center and Scott Overlock of Augusta; one daughter, Sandra Hutchings of Augusta; a sister-in-law, Ann Sayers of Augusta; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours. Committal prayers will be offered 1:00 pm Monday Jan. 8th in the Rev. Leonard Leclair Memorial Chapel, Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Volunteers of Kennebec Valley, MaineGeneral Medical Center, 150 Dresden Ave., Gardiner, ME 04345.

Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta.

Augusta

Margurite T. O'Brien - 71 of Townsend Road, died at her home Saturday, December 9, 2000 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Augusta, November 25, 1929 the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Cloutier) Gabourie.

Mrs. O'Brien was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society and the American Association of Retired Persons.

She had been employed for 15 years at R. P. Hazzard Shoe Company prior to the closing of that company.

Survivors include her husband, James O'Brien of Augusta; a son, John G. O'Brien and his wife Jennifer of Farmingdale; 2 daughters; Jean Marie Dostie and her husband Marc and Denise Marie Miller and her husband Christopher all of Augusta; 2 brothers; Gerard Gaboury and Edward E. Gabourie both of Augusta; 3 sisters; Rita Laliberte and Gabriel Poulin both of Augusta and Jeanne D'Arc Schricker of North Attleboro, MA, 7 grandchildren; Jessica Dostie, Aric Dostie, Sara Dostie, Colton Miller, Katherine O'Brien, Erin O'Brien and Lauren O'Brien, also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit today from 4-6 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta where officers and members of the Ladies of St. Anne Society are asked to meet today at 4 PM to recite prayers for their departed member and members of Abnaki Council # 334 - 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus are asked to meet today at 4:30 PM to recite prayers for Mrs. O'Brien, wife of Brother Knight James O'Brien.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday from St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta.

Spring burial will be in the family lot in Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Road, Augusta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: HealthReach Hospice, P.O. Box 1568, Waterville, ME 04903-1568.

AUGUSTA

Raymond F. Parent - age 52, of Windy Street, died December 3, 2000 at his home after a long illness. He was born in Augusta, Maine on June 24, 1948 the son of Norman Parent and Anita (Gilbert) Parent.

Ray was a graduate of Cony High School in the class of 1967. He was employed by Florida Power and Light, formerly Central Maine Power Company, for a total of 28 years. He was previously employed by the State of Maine for a short time.

Ray was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Calumet Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling.

Surviving is his wife of 30 years, Rosanne (Castonguay) Parent of Augusta; one son, Kyle A. Parent and his wife Denise of Portland; one daughter, Julie E. Parent of Portland; his mother, Anita Parent of Augusta; one sister, Therese Golden and her husband Gary of Augusta; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be on Monday December 4th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta, where members of the Calumet Club are asked to meet at 7:00 pm for a prayer service. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Volunteers of Kennebec Valley, MaineGeneral Medical Center, 150 Dresden Avenue, Gardiner, ME 04345 or HealthReach Hospice, P.O. Box 1568, Waterville, ME 04903-1568. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
