Jacquez, John A., Dr., Ann Arbor, MI

Dr. John A. Jacquez (Doc) died at the University of Michigan Hospital on October 16, 1999. Born June 26, 1922 in Alsace, France, he immigrated to the United States in 1929 with his family and lived in New York. Doc attended Cornell University and Cornell Medical School on full academic scholarship, graduating with an M.D. in 1947. In 1948 he married Marianne Reibel, a childhood friend also of Alsatian descent. Following distinguished tenure in cancer research at the Sloan Kettering Institute in Rye, New York, Doc was asked to establish the Department of Biomedical Data Processing at the University of Michigan. He moved his family to Ann Arbor in 1962. Doc retired in 1990 as Professor Emeritus of Physiology, The University of Michigan Medical School and Professor Emeritus of Biostatistics, The University of Michigan School of Public Health. Dr. Jacquez leaves us a prodigious body of scientific work. He is recognized internationally as the leading authority in Compartmental Analysis, a highly specialized discipline of scientific method. Doc is survived by Marianne, his wife of 51 years and the love of his life, and his four sons, their wives and seven grandchildren. Doc will be remembered by his family and friend as a kind and wise man with deep love for his family and reverence for his roots. His cooking will not be forgotten, nor the wines that he crafted from his backyard vineyard outside of Ann Arbor. A memorial service is being planned early the week of October 18. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his name to Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley and the Hope Clinic in Yspilanti, MI.

Frantz, Charles J., Belleville, MI

Age 62, passed away Friday, October 15, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Frantz. In-state, DAVID C. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, Belleville from 12 Noon-9 p.m. Monday. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Cremation Rites to be accorded.

Field, David George, Ann Arbor, MI

Age 56, passed away at his home on Sunday morning, October 17, 1999, with his Ann Arbor family at his side. He was born on August 27, 1943 in Janesville, WI, the youngest son of Burton and Dorothy (Gosda) Field. He came to Ann Arbor to pursue a golf career in 1968. On December 9, 1978 he married Laurie Reynolds and she survives. He was a member of AnnArbor Elks Lodge #325, serving twice as exalted ruler. In addition to his wife other survivors include his mother, Dorothy; his brothers, Dick (Doris) Field of Whitefish, MT; Ken (Nancy) of Columbiana, OH, Doug (Sally) Field of Janesville, WI; in laws, J.P. Reynolds of Ann Arbor, Jody Reynolds of Ann Arbor; and Ray and Libby (Reynolds) Beall of Houston, TX; several cousins, nieces, nephews. Private graveside services will be Wednesday, October 20, 1999. A celebration of his life for family and friends will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the (temporary) Elks Lodge (477-0532) . In lieu of flowers, David would wish that you donate in his memory to a charity of choice. Arrangements by Muehlig Chapel.

Pratt, Darrel, Howell, MI

Age 67, died Saturday, October 16, 1999. Visitation will be held Monday from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service Tuesday 11 a.m. at MACDONALD'S FUNERAL HOME, Howell. (517-546-2800)

Glatz, Elva C., Saline, MI

Age 91, died Saturday, October 16, 1999 at the Saline Evangelical Home. Elva was born on February 26, 1908in Saline Township, the daughter of Daniel and Clara (Seckinger) Roehm. On October 23, 1947 in Saline, MI, she was married to Elmer L. Glatz and he preceded her in death on November 8, 1980. She was a member of St. James United Church of Christ, the Ladies Aid Society and Washtenaw County Farm Bureau. She is survived by one son, Kenneth (Jody) Glatz of Saline; three grandchildren, Kristen, Dana and Adam; two sisters, Wilma Wahl and Lila Luckhardt, both of Saline. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer; her parents; sister, Lucile Finkbeiner; brother, Clarence Roehm; and a sister and brother ininfancy, Annetta and Albert. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 1999 at St. James United Church of Christ in Saline Twp., with Rev. Judy Jahnke officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Envelopes will be available at the ROBISON-BAHNMILLER FUNERAL HOME, Saline, where friends may call Monday from 4-9 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from10 a.m. until the time of service.

Jones, Percy L., Kalamazoo, MI

(Formerly of Ann Arbor)
Age 46, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 1999. He was born March 19, 1953 in Sallis, MS. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Ida Mae and Willie Chumney; seven children, Percy L. Overstreet, Kenya, Jessica, Christopher L., Jerard, and Jerral Harrison, and Alyssa Jones; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mary, Barbara Ann, and Deanne Jones;seven brothers, Joe Lee, Eddie R., James Bobby, Steven and Jeffery Jones, Michael and Gregory Pee; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Lee Jones and one grandson, Darrick Williams. The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 21, 1999, at the Spiritual Israel Church And Its Army, 802 N. River Street, Ypsilanti. Burial to follow in Highland cemetery Ypsilanti. A family hour will be held 10-11:00 A.M. Thursday at the church. Arrangements by STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel.

Fullington, Eileen Reese, Lowell, MI

(Formerly of Ann Arbor)
Passed October 16, 1999. Survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Lyleof Lowell, MI; daughter, Ireta(Robert) Butler of Ann Arbor; step-son, Stanley (Dorothy) Reese of Manistee; step-daughter, Arlene (George) Harding of Pinckney; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Eileen worked for Chrysler for 36 years. She was preceded in death by a son, Herbert S. Reese of Ann Arbor; her parents, William and Hazel Putnam Nims of Weberville; three brothers; Arthur, Ernest, and Ormal Nims. Funeral by Roth Gurst Chapel, Lowell MI 49331, at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Age 65, died Sunday at her home. Born in Frankfort on December 3, 1933, daughter of Nelson and Karolina (Soucck) Holtrey. She is survived by her mother, aunts, uncles, cousins. Service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, October 21 at Frankfort Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes, Frankfort, MI

Craig, Michael Dennis, Ann Arbor, MI

Age 48, was discovered on Thursday, October 14, 1999, after having died of a heart attack. Michael is survived by his children, Breanne, 16, and Tanner, 14; his sister, Georganne Craig of Boulder, CO; and brothers, Gerald Skip (Sharon) Craig of Ann Arbor, Gordon (Kathy) Craig of Crown Point, IN, Rodney (Susan) Craig of Chelsea, Mark Craig of Ann Arbor; and several nieces, nephews. The son of Esther Gillespie Craig and Gerald Craig, Sr., he served honorably in the U.S. Army. He will be buried at Custer Veteran's cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan on Thursday, October 21 at 2 p.m., following a small family observance and celebration of life. Wilson, James A., East Lansing, MI

Beloved Father and Friend, age 75, passed away at home on October 17, 1999 surrounded by his family. He was born in Toledo, OH on October 2, 1924. His family moved to Ann Arbor, MI early in his childhood where he grew to become a licensed brick mason. He was an accomplished Journeyman in electrical, plumbing and carpentry. He enjoyed bowling, cooking, fishing, gardening, music and travel. He was a member of the Lansing, MI Masonic Lodge #33 F & AM. He was preceded in death by his sister, Irene Reimold. Surviving are his loving children, one daughter, Dr. Eileen M. Wilson; one son, James Gregory (Betsy) Wilson; grandchildren, David, Eric and Scott Wilson; brother-in-law, Alvin Reimold; and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 23 at Estes-Leadley Funeral Home in Lansing, MI. Those desiring may make contributions to Sparrow Hospice, Lansing, MI or the Capital Area Humane Society, Lansing, MI.

Joscelyn, Jennifer S., R.N., Arlington, TX

Age 26, died Sunday, October 17, 1999 at her home from complications of surgery for infectious bone disease. Her parents are Kent B. Joscelyn of Ann Arbor and Mary Komoroske Joscelyn of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Jennifer attended Newport School, Forsythe Middle School, and she graduated from Fr. Gabriel Richard High School in 1991. She had studied nursing at Washtenaw Community College and University of Michigan and graduated in 1995 with honors from the University of Michigan. She was an Angell Scholar and a member of the Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing honor society. At her graduation, she received the Hazel M. Avery Maternity Award for demonstrating a commitment to childbearing families. She was a registered nurse in Michigan and Texas. Following graduation, she completed an intensive residency program in neo-natal nursing at the Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas, resulting in certification as a neo-natal nurse. She worked as a neo-natal nurse and a pediatric nurse at Parkland and, at the Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. She was on leave from her position as a charge nurse at Our Children's House at Baylor Medical Center, a special chronic care unit for infants and children with serious illness.In 1990, Jennifer fractured her left ankle. Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) resulting in chronic pain complicated the healing process. Her left foot was in a cast or brace from 1990 until her death. She completed nursing school and her advanced training on crutches or in a wheelchair. She functioned very effectively as an intensive care nurse despite these disabilities. Jennifer was one of the founding members of the South Eastern Michigan RSD Support Group.Her love of children and animals was evident throughout her life. She particularly enjoyed volunteering at the Ann Arbor Hands On Museum where she worked with and taught children.Jennifer is also survived by her sister and her brother-in-law, Kathryn and Nelson Sheingold of Albany, New York, and their son, Jacob, who was Jennifer's favorite nephew; her Godparents, Roger and Lois Maickel of Lafayette, Indiana; her maternal grandparents, Alexander and Mary Komoroske of Alexandria, Virginia; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. She particularly enjoyed the celebration of her grandparent's sixtieth wedding anniversary last Thanksgiving with their family.A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 22, 1999 at 3:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Church of Ann Arbor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jennifer S. Joscelyn Memorial Fund at the University of Michigan School of Nursing, 400 North Ingalls, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48109.

Graves, William J., Brighton, MI

Age 85, died Monday, October 18, 1999 in Whitmore Lake, MI. Bill was born June 29, 1914 in Ionia, MI, the son of the late William and Myrtle (Jordan) Graves. On December 29, 1944 in Grand Rapids, MI he married his loving wife, Lucille. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by a son, William R. Graves of Livonia; two daughters, Judith Samuels of Munith, and Nancy Graves; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ester Schaner of Stone Mountain, GA. Bill retired after 20 years of service from the Chrysler Proving Grounds in Chelsea where he worked as a test driver.He was also a charter member of the Livingston County Wildlife and Conservation Club. Visitation will be held on October 21, 1999 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at BELL-BOREK FUNERAL HOME in Hamburg with Rev. Carl F. Wesler officiating. Interment will take place in Hamburg cemetery.

Bowdish, William F., Gregory, MI

Age 52, passed away October 19, 1999. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday October 21, 1999 from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge. Visitation will be Wednesday 7-9 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Stockbridge Area Ambulance.
