Marguerite J. Sculati

Iron Mountain - Marguerite J. Sculati, 86, of Iron Mountain, died Sat. April 21, 2007 at Freeman's Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. She was born on Aug, 12, 1920 in Garden, MI, the daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Cousineau) Pelletier.

Marguerite graduated from Kingsford High School in 1939. She was a bookkeeper at Summit Dairy in Kingsford for many years. She also worked at Elmer's Hardware and Rocconi's.

She married Albert 'snipe' Sculati on Feb. 11, 1950 at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. He preceded her in death in 1975.

Mrs. Sculati was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed her grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter Melody (Thomas) Yerge of Iron Mountain, one son David Sculati of Belleville, MI, four granddaughters Jacquelyn Weber of Kingsford, Sarah Weber of Iron Mountain, Jennifer Weber of Iron Mountain, and Jordan Sculati of Kingsford, one brother Neil Bruce Pelletier of Kingsford and a special niece Kathy Sacchetti of Iron Mountain, and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister Bernice Sacchetti.

Visitation will be Tues. from 11am-1pm at Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 1pm Tues. at the funeral home. Father Daniel Zaloga will officiate. Burial will be in cemetery Park

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.

The family has entrusted the Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home with arrangements.

Robert "Bob" C.W. Young

KINGSFORD - Robert 'Bob' C.W. Young, 61, of 520 Wilson Ave., Kingsford, died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 21, 2007, at his home.

Bob was born Dec. 11, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Robert P.T. Young and Harriet (Messernecht) Young. He graduated from Fletcher High School in Neptune Beach, Fla., in 1965.

Bob went on to attend the University of Florida where he started for the Gators as an offensive lineman and won the Orange Bowl in 1967.

Later that year, Bob voluntarily joined the U.S. Navy and served for two tours in Vietnam with the Navy Seabees. He graduated from the University of North Florida in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

He married Margaret Harper on Nov. 4, 1973, at Springhill Church in Ocilla, Ga.

Bob worked as a manager for the paper industry most of his adult life. He worked in paper plants in Georgia, Texas, Virginia, Louisiana, and Michigan.

In later years, he worked for the State of Michigan and most recently for United Abrasives.

Bob was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church where he and his son were altar servers. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Serra Club. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with family, and most of all his children and grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Aimee (Hans) Whitmer of Gladstone, Natalie (Michael) McWilliams Jr. of Janesville, Wis., Liz (Douglas) Black of Kingsford, and William Young of Kingsford; his mother, Harriet Young Thomson of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; sisters, Dr. Cy (Dr. Michael) Glasser of Potomac, Md. and Liz (Hayden) Abel of Port Aransas, Texas; and grandchildren, Madine, Cecilia and Nicholas and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert P.T. Young and a sister, Tina Weyenberg.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

A memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner will officiate.

Burial will be at Springhill Church cemetery in Ocilla, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with funeral arrangements.

Lydia Schurman

Iron Mountain - Lydia Schurman, 99, of 302 E. Margaret St. Iron Mountain, MI died Fri. April 20, 2007 at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford. She was born on Jan. 12, 1908 in Switzerland.

Lydia came to the United States at the age of 12.

She married Joseph Schurman in 1934 in Milwaukee. The couple had a farm in Delavan, WI and a cheese factory in Spring Green, WI. Joseph preceded her in death in 1982. In 2003 Lydia moved to Iron Mountain to live with her granddaughter, Sister Maria.

Lydia is survived by her grandchildren Steve Volp of New Berlin, WI and Sister Maria Volp of Iron Mountain, and two great grandchildren Brian and Eric Volp.

She was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law Evelyn and Raymond Volp and nine brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be Weds. from 10am-12noon at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral services will be at 12noon at the church. Father Dan Zaloga will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in the Pine Lawn cemetery in Milwaukee, WI.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash funeral home with the arrangements.

Ronald Clifford Hereau

NORWAY - Ronald Clifford Hereau, 54, of 704 Chestnut St. in Norway, died Friday, April 20, 2007, at his home.

He was born Jan. 15, 1953, in South Milwaukee, son of Joyce (Mortl) Hereau Breul and the late Clifford Hereau. He was raised in South Milwaukee and graduated from South Milwaukee High School. Ron had been a resident of the area for more than 30 years, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors.

He is survived by his loving mother and stepfather, Joyce and Marvin Breul of South Milwaukee; five stepbrothers and stepsisters, Linda (Maher) Kamel of Mequon, Wis., Robert (Von) Breul of Milwaukee, Kathleen (Robert) Dorfner of Oak Creek, Wis., Michael Breul of Milwaukee, and Barbara (Andy) Wheeler of Mequon; aunts and uncles, George Mortl of Kingsford, George and Beatrice Brozovich of Iron Mountain, Ronald and Gail Mortl and Ethel and Richard Tavonatti of Iron Mountain; many good friends including Gary and Sherry Bal of Norway and Paul Rice or Iron Mountain; his former wife, Jean Rae and her family; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Hereau and his brother, James Clifford Hereau.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date and will be announced by the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Kingsford Funeral Home of Kingsford.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Kingsford Funeral Home with arrangements.

Genevieve Trudell

IRON MOUNTAIN - Genevieve Trudell, 97, formerly of Iron Mountain, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2007, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.

Genevieve was born on Dec. 29, 1909, in Iron Mountain and was the daughter of the late James and Emily (Cowling) Hooper.

She married Maurice Trudell on June 21, 1940, in Iron Mountain and he preceded her in death on April 14, 1993.

Genevieve was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Genevieve is survived by her children, Dr. James (Weiqi) Trudell of California, Ronald (Belinda) Trudell of Waterford, Mich. and Cheryl (Robert) Todd of Milford, Mich. and a granddaughter, Emily Trudell.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Norman, Robert, Richard, William and James and three sisters, Alice, Mary and Margaret.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. David Snyder will officiate.

Burial will be in cemetery Park.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Jacob "Ken" Weber

HOMESTEAD, Wis. - Jacob "Ken" Weber, 69, of Homestead, passed away, Monday, April 16, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1937, in Chicago, son of the late Jacob and Nettie (Warush) Weber. Ken has been a resident of this area for the past 20 years. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army.

His duty included two years at the Pentagon. Ken was a member of the Goodman American Legion Post 325 and Bombers Golf Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening, bowling, cribbage, horseshoes and fishing.

Ken is survived by his children, Kenneth (Adrienne) Weber of Loveland, Colo., Christopher (Karen) Weber of Zionsville, Ind., and Suzanne Weber of Warrenville, Ill.; brothers, Richard (Marlea) Weber of Iron Mountain and Allan (Sharon) Weber of Homestead; a sister, Jean Bousley of Dunbar, Wis.; grandchildren, Rebecca, Alexandra, Samantha, Victoria, Benjamin and Evalyn Weber; an aunt, Florence Frith of Texas and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Leda Zabinski and a brother-in-law, Bob Bousley.

Memorial graveside services will be held at a later date.

Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora cemetery.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home with the arrangements.

Claude C. "Pat" Patterson

NIAGARA, Wis. - Claude C. "Pat" Patterson, 86, of Niagara, died Saturday, April 14, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

He was born on June 7, 1920, in Mason City, Ill., the son of the late Christopher and Maude (Miller) Patterson.

Pat graduated from Niagara High School in 1938. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941, serving in the European Theater as a cook during World War II. He was discharged in 1945. He then went back to work at the Niagara Paper Mill for 44 years, retiring in 1985.

When Pat returned from the war he took flying lessons and earned his pilot's license. He flew out of the Quinnesec airport. Flying was his passion. He was also a dedicated bowler, serving as the secretary-treasurer for his league for 32 years. In 1995, Pat was inducted into the Tri-City Bowling Hall of Fame.

Pat married Evelyn Edict on Aug. 10, 1946, at the Union Protestant Church in Niagara.

Pat and Evie built their home and cut pulp wood together. The couple also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling together. They loved spending time with their family and took their daughters and grandchildren on many camping trips.

Pat was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered as a great storyteller, sharing many stories, especially war stories with his family and friends. His favorite saying was "Nothing is ever simple." He was also an avid bird watcher.

Pat is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his daughter, Cheri (Roger) Hamilton of Iron Mountain; his son-in-law, Jerry (special friend, Donna Mansfield) Kuester of Niagara; four sisters-in-law, Doris Patterson of Pembine, Alice Welch of Phillips, Wis., Lillian (special friend, Bill Polomis) Leonard of Niagara, Wis., and Beth (Kenny) Goeden of Hot Springs Village, Ark; one brother-in-law, Ken Edict of Friendship, Wis.; four grandchildren, Angela (Nicholas) Gayan, Michael (Megan) Anderson, Dan (Heather) Kuester, and Steve (Sheila) Kuester, eight great-grandchildren, Kellen, Emma, Abigail, Liam, Preston, Gavin, Charles, and Brody and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Kuester and his brother, Herbert Patterson.

A gathering of friends will be held on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Riverside United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Rev. Pat Nolet will officiate.

Burial will be in the Niagara cemetery.

The Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Tressa A. DePotsie

CRYSTAL FALLS - Tressa A. DePotsie, 91, of Crystal Falls, passed away Friday, April 13, 2007, at Iron County Community Hospital.

She was born on Nov. 14, 1915, in Crystal Falls the daughter of the late Cresente and Rose Ann (Relievo) Rondon. She resided in Crystal Falls until 1977.

Tressa worked many years as a nurse's aide for the school district of Crystal Falls and Iron County Medical Facility.

She married Oliver DePotsie on July 30, 1977, and he preceded her in death in 2003. Tressa and Oliver were residents of the Iron Mountain-Kingsford area for many years.

Tressa was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary of Crystal Falls. She was also a member of the State Employee Retirement Association and Community Schools.

She is survived by her son, Roger (Charlotte) Grandahl of Crystal Falls; daughters, Iris Zimmerman of Iron River, Janet Legault of Iron Mountain, Kathleen (Neil) Bishop of Lodi, Wis. and Tessie Rae Grandahl of Henderson, Nev.; sisters, Ann Zanon of Caspian, Katherine Schiavo and Theresa Rose Bowman of Crystal Falls and Marion (Francis) Furno of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Lori Zimmerman and Raymond (Jamie) Zimmerman of Iron River, Roger Jr. (Becky) Grandahl of Crystal Falls, Daniel Grandahl of Grand Rapids, lower Michigan, Brian Legault of Iron Mountain, Janine (John) Blemberg of Marquette and Angela Grandahl of Henderson, Nev.; great-grandchildren, Carla and Ashley Helgemo, Libbey Kaiser, James and Brant Zimmerman, and John, Anthony, Kathleen and Mary Beth Grandahl and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Caroline Johnson and Carmen Hendershott; five brothers, Hugo Johnson, Louis Zanon, John Schiavo, Glen Hendershott and Angelo Rondon.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the church. Rev. Michael Laakko will officiate.

Entombment will take place at the Mausoleum in Gardens of Rest cemetery.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash funeral home with the arrangements.

Kathryn Dallaguarda

IRON MOUNTAIN - Kathryn Dallaguarda, 82, of 1025 Wickman Drive, Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

Kathryn, who was known to all as Kay, was born Dec. 29, 1924, in Rotan, Texas, daughter of the late Richard and Leona (Hester) Coppedge. She spent her early years in Yuma, Ariz., and then the Los Angeles County area in California, graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School in Los Angeles in 1943.

She married the love of her life, Deno Dallaguarda, on Aug. 9, 1947, in Los Angeles. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 2001.

Kay and Deno moved to the Detroit area in 1957 and then to the Lake Gogebic area, where they lived for 29 years. Deno, who was a licensed residential contractor, suffered a stroke in 1999. The couple then moved to Victorian Pines estates in 2000 to be near family. Deno passed away in 2001 and Kay has lived with her son and daughter-in-law for the past four years. Kay devoted her life to her family and was the most gentle, kind, and loving soul one could hope to know. She loved reading and was an excellent roller skater when she was younger. She and Deno also enjoyed bowling and were known to cut quite a figure in the dance floor. She will be sorely missed.

Kathryn is survived by her son, Tony (Judy) Dallaguarda of Iron Mountain; a brother, Cecil Finn of Texas; a sister, Edna Litten of Florida; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four nieces.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by stepfathers, Lee Hart, Raymond Finn and Mel Evans.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home in Ironwood.

Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Darryl Pepin will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Hurley, Wis.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
