Kathleen Roberts
KINGSFORD - Kathleen 'Kay' L. Roberts, 97, of 1810 Mary's Way, Kingsford, died, Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
Kay was born Aug. 1, 1908, in Arnprior, Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (O'Dowd) Perry.
Kay married Fred Roberts on April 28, 1934, and he preceded her in death on March 28, 1971. She has been a resident of this area since 1961 coming from Ironwood.
Kay was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and Pine Grove Country Club. She was an excellent golfer and three time woman's Pine Grove Country Club Champion (1961, 1968 and 1975). She was also the 1947 U.P. Woman's Golf Champion. Kay enjoyed playing cards and her Monday trips to the Island Resort and Casino.
She is survived by a niece, Florence McGill of Burlington, Ontario, Canada; great-nephews, Gerry McGill of Hamilton, Ontario, Randy (Andrea) McGill of Moffat, Ontario, and Rob (Laurie) McGill of Oakville, Ontario and great-great nephews, Kris, Jeremy, Nevan, Kyle and Tyler.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Bill Perry, Harry Perry, Bob Perry, Dorothy McGill, Jessie Kundinger and Wilfred Perry and by a nephew, Ron McGill.
Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Fr. Charles Piper and Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Groeneveld and the nursing staff on the second floor of Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Catherine Moen
KINGSFORD - Catherine E. Moen, 101, formerly of 632 Eskil Ave. Kingsford, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, at ManorCare Health Services.
She was born June 4, 1904, in Blue Earth County, Minn., the daughter of the late Evan and Elizabeth (Evans) Morris.
Catherine has been a resident of this area since 1924. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church and a member of the Extension Club. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, and music. Catherine was also an avid fan of the Statler Brothers.
She married Iver Moen on Aug. 4, 1924. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1981.
She is survived by two sons, Clifford (Betsy) Moen of Savannah, Ga., and Marvin (Shirley) Moen of Manitowoc, Wis.; two daughters, Lila (Jack) Kizziah of Buckley, Wash. and Ruth (Russell) Hagberg of Iron Mountain; one sister, Jane Morris of Green Bay, Wis.; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Catherine Hemmingway; two brothers, John and William Morris; and one sister, Margaret Martin.
Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Rev. Gene Wickman will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.

Connie Steele
ESCANABA - On Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, God took our beloved Connie D. Steele of Escanaba and Foster City, at Marquette General Hospital, after a lengthy illness at both St. Francis Hospital and Marquette General Hospital.
Connie was born on March 2, 1950, in Norway, daughter of Deloris (Varney) and the late Wallace Carlson.
Before graduating from high school, she married Gerald 'Jerry' Steele on May 27, 1967, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan.
She was a lifelong resident of Foster City. She and Jerry made their home in Escanaba for the past 21 years, but Foster City was always home.
The things that brought her the most joy in life were spending time with her family and friends, painting, cooking, canning, baking, planting flowers, and buying jewelry. She had a love for music, playing guitar, accordion, keyboard, and singing.
Connie is survived by her mother, Deloris Carlson of Foster City; her husband, Jerry Steele of Escanaba; a son, Jim (Michelle) Steele of Traverse City, lower Michigan; a daughter, Tammy (Mark) Winling of Escanaba; three grandchildren, James Steele and Breanna and Lexi Winling; brothers, Don (Sue) Carlson and Bob Carlson of Foster City and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Central time) at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home in Iron Mountain. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Felch cemetery.

Vernon Rose
KINGSFORD - Vernon C. "Toddy" Rose, 78, of 345 Doraland St., Kingsford, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at his home.
He was born on Oct. 26, 1926, in Ladysmith, Wis., the son of the late Clifford and Nellie (Ewer) Rose.
Vernon served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was a baker at the Rocheleau Bakery and Schinderle's Bakery.
Toddy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, yard work, painting and bird watching.
He married Fern Anderson on June 28, 1947, at First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain.
Toddy is survived by his wife, Fern; eight children, Ginger (Tom) Sweig of Niagara, Wis., Craig (Cleo) of Pembine, Wis., Dennis (Imane) of Tulsa, Okla. Brian (Debbie) of Crystal Falls, Sheila (David) Weaver of Iron Mountain, Lynn (Bill) Schultz of Norway, Sue (Don) Okler of Kingsford, and Keith Rose of Binghamton, N.Y.; two sisters, Beverly Hansen of Iron Mountain and Marlene Towns of Niagara, Wis.; three brothers, Darral (Charlotte) of Kingsford, Richard (Linda) of Neenah, Wis. and Gerald of Spread Eagle, Wis.; 24 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Todd and Gary; one sister, Donna VanOudenhoven; and two brothers, Clifford and Larry.
Visitation will be today from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Peter Erickson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.

Frank Ottlinger
IRON MOUNTAIN - Frank M. 'Dutch' Ottlinger, 89, loving husband of Carol Bouche Ottlinger of Iron Mountain, went to meet his Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at Florence Villa in Florence, Wis.
Frank married Carol on Aug. 30, 1958, in Iron Mountain.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Frank worked as a mechanic for Peninsula Beverage for 25 years. Following his retirement from Pepsi, he worked a Les-Cove Cabinets and Rocconi Ace Hardware. Dutch enjoyed building and flying gas operated model airplanes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, who cared for him in his long illness for five years; sons Ken (Joleen) Ottlinger of Kansas, Mike (Wanda) Ottlinger of Dearborn, lower Michigan, and Rallund Ottlinger of Munising; daughters Linae (Francis) Rittenhouse of Appleton, Wis. and Kim Marie (Jeff) Wierikko of Sheboygan, Wis.; grandchildren, Kevin and Keith Ottlinger of Kansas, Joshua (Amy) Chodak of Appleton, Danielle Wierikko of California, Paige LeAnna Weirikko of Sheboygan, Hayley DoBas of Sheboygan, Desiree Ottlinger of California and Wendy and Jennifer Ottlinger of Dearborn, lower Michigan; great- grandchildren, Joshua Jr. and Elijah of Appleton, Wis. and Connor of Dearborn, lower Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Kathryn (Bering) Ottlinger; his brothers, Pete and Nick Ottlinger; and a sister, Marie Thorsen.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 11a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 11a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Keith Wall will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
The Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marie Kilpatrick
IRON MOUNTAIN - Marie E. Kilpatrick, 83, of Iron Mountain, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
A private family service will be held.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Robert Dale
IRON MOUNTAIN - Robert G. Dale, 68, of 118 W. Grand Blvd., Iron Mountain, died after a long battle with heart disease on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born July 16, 1937, in Iron Mountain, son of the late George and Peggy (LeFleur) Dale. Bob was a lifelong resident and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He married Jayce Olson on July 18, 1964, in Iron Mountain. Bob was a firefighter for the city of Iron Mountain for more than 25 years, retiring in 1991.
Prior to working for the fire department, he worked at Dale's Cabinet Shop and Maracini's Cabinets. He was a member of the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50, the U.P. Bocce League, and Bomber's Golf Course. Bob was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with their RV. He and Jayce spent many winters in Casa Grande, Ariz.
He was a wonderful husband and a good friend to many.
He is survived by his wife, Jayce; two special daughters, Allison Walker Guide and Cindy (Randy) Brier, both of Milwaukee; one brother, James (Linda) Dale of Iron Mountain; three sisters, Betty Duggan and Jean Dale, both of Dixon, Ill. and Mary 'Midge' (Howard) Plante of Kingsford; many nieces and nephews, Herb Duggan, Richard (Judy) Duggan, Bill Dale, Cynthia (Kevin) Milczewski, Susan (Mike) Thornburg, Howard (Lisa) Plante, Lynn (Corey) Barnes, Dan (Debbie) Plante, Jon-Paul Dale, Brian Dale, Nicole Dale, Jayna Erickson and Lee Erickson; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William Dale.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.

Anne Benso
KINGSFORD - Anne C. Benso, 82, of Evergreen Heights Apartments, Kingsford, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, at her apartment.
She was born April 30, 1923, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Alfonse and Palmina Celli. Anne graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1941, and was a resident of the area for most of her life.
She married Jack Benso on Aug. 27, 1949, at Immaculate Conception Church in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1994.
Anne attended business school in Green Bay, Wis. for her secretarial training. She was very proud of her experience working at the Pentagon during World War II. Anne worked at the V.A. Hospital in Iron Mountain as executive secretary to the chief of staff for 30 years until retiring.
She was active in the community theatre and was a member of Pine Grove Country Club where she served as chair of the bridge group and coordinated their activities. Anne was also an active member of the Daughters of Isabella and St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, where she helped manage the funeral luncheon committee. Anne loved reading, knitting, golfing and playing bridge.
She is survived by a son, John C. (Helen) Benso of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; a daughter, Pamela Benso of Portland, Ore. and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Paul Nomellini will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
