Alan LeClaire
IRON MOUNTAIN - Alan W. LeClaire, 43, of 101 E. Margaret St. in Iron Mountain, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis., due to injuries sustained in an automobile/bike accident.
Alan was born Aug. 29, 1962, in Iron Mountain, the son of Ronald and Rosemary (Badini) LeClaire. He lived in the area for his entire life and worked as a baker at the Schinderle Bakery on the northside of Iron Mountain for many years. For the past three years, Alan worked in the bakery at Super One Foods.
Alan enjoyed collecting coins and had an impressive coin collection. He also enjoyed going to the casino and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Alan is survived by his parents, Ronald and Rosemary LeClaire of Iron Mountain; a sister, Wendy (Steven) Munn of Norway and their children, Ronald and Samantha; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Rick LeClaire.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Helmi Arvo
CHICAGO - Helmi E. Arvo, 87, of Chicago, formerly of Kingsford, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at the Norwood Park Home in Chicago.
She was born on April 4, 1918, in Diorite, the daughter of the late William and Atafiina (Hopeavuori) Hill.
Mrs. Arvo graduated from Covington High School in 1936.
She married Edward Arvo on March 2, 1940. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1994. Helmi and Edward lived in Kingsford from 1940 until 1984 when they moved to Chicago.
Helmi worked as a nurse's aide at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain from 1964-1982. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and the Women's Club at the church.
Helmi is survived by one son, Ray (Carol) Arvo of Lake Zurich, Ill.; one brother, Reino Hill of Covington; one sister, Bertha Zuccarini of Texas; two granddaughters, Aileen (Scott) Maeltzer and their children Corey and Michael, and Stacy (Tom) Johnson and their children Ryan, Jake, Danny, and Kaylen.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Tauno Hill and one sister, Liala Kantola.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Stephen Cowen will officiate.
Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.

Ingrid Lawrence
BREITUNG TOWNSHIP - Ingrid M. Lawrence, 65 of White Birch Village, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at her home.
She was born on May 31, 1940, in West Berlin, Germany, the daughter of the late Herbert and Hirta (Bishop) Paredmann.
Ingrid married Carl Lawrence in Germany on Jan. 13, 1968. The couple lived in Kenosha, Wis. before moving to Iron Mountain in 2001.
Ingrid worked as a welder for American Motor Co. and as a waitress. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino. Ingrid enjoyed life and being with people.
She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
Ingrid is survived by her husband, Carl; her son, Ralf (Toni) of Crystal Falls; three grandsons, Allan and David of Kenosha and T.J. of Iron Mountain; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Jack Phillips
IRON MOUNTAIN - Jack Stephen Phillips, 83, of W8176 S. U.S. 2, Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at his home.
He was born in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, the son of the late Burt and Florence (Smith) Phillips.
Jack was a B-17 pilot for the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He married Mildred Daley on Jan. 29, 1945, in Dyersburg, Tenn. The couple moved to Iron Mountain in 1972, when they purchased the Keel Ridge Motel, now the Days Inn, which they have operated for the past 33 years.
Jack enjoyed woodworking and carpentry.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; his son, Stephen (Patrice) of Homestead, Wis.; two sisters, Grace Blitz of Indianapolis and Evelyn Staehle of Broomfield, Colo.; and two grandsons, Christopher Stephen (Anna) of New York City and Nicholas Stephen of Sussex, Wis.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be cemetery Park.
Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Northwoods Airlifeline, where Jack's son Stephen is a pilot.

Bernice Colantonio
IRON MOUNTAIN - Bernice V. Colantonio, 89, of 1820 Mary's Way, formerly of 504 Norway St. in Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born on Dec. 19, 1915, in Aurora, Wis., daughter of the late Axel and Anna (Carlson) Olson. She has been a lifelong resident of this area.
She married Louis Colantonio on April 27, 1935, in Iron Mountain. They celebrated 70 years of marriage together.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the United Methodist women's organizations. Bernice enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking and baking. She loved to knit and was known for her rose garden. Bernice was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching bowling, golf and football.
She is survived by her husband, Louis; her son, Russell Colantonio of Iron Mountain; daughters, Jan (Gary) Pilon of Orlando, Fla. and Cheryl (Ben) Storey of Kirkland, Wash.; grandchildren, Scott, Kristie, Mark, Kelly, Stephen, Christopher and Matthew and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon in 1948 and by two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Meredith Rupe will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
Memorials may be made in her memory to Trinity United Methodist Church.

Wilfred Gardiner
KINGSFORD - Wilfred J. 'Ding' Gardiner, 85, of 812 Skidmore Drive, Breitung Township, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born Oct. 23, 1920, in Stephenson, son of the late Michael and Alice (Nadon) Gardiner. Ding was a 1939 graduate of Kingsford High School and an honorably discharged World War II army veteran. He worked as a structural iron worker for Iron Workers Local 8 in Milwaukee until his retirement in 1977.
He is survived by his wife, Beverlee; two sons, James (Sharon) Gardiner of Spread Eagle, Wis. and Robert (Mary) Gardiner of Lake Zurich, Ill.; four daughters, Carol (Dan) Herman of Neilsville, Wis., Darlene (Bill) Haigh of Breitung Township, Connie (Ray) Ryder of Neenah, Wis. and Dorothy Rose of Bismark, N.D.; seven brothers, Henry (Jean) Gardiner of New York, Carl (Jerre) Gardiner of Norway, Bernard (Ursula) Gardiner of California, Joseph (Gabriella) Gardiner of Washington, Bill (Carole) Gardiner of Arkansas, Gene (Audrey) Gardiner of Pennsylvania and Charles Gardiner of Iron River; three sisters, Joan Dugas of Maryland, Donna Freidman of Georgia and Alice (Ed) Kadletz of Iron Mountain; 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and Francis Gardiner and a sister, Stella McNeil.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.

Lenore Carlson-Kelly
BALTIMORE, Md. - Lenore Rae Carlson-Kelly, 60, of 12221 Etchison Road, Ellicott City, Md., died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore.
She was born March 13, 1945, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Ella M. Carlson Mette and Nobel Carlson and the stepdaughter of W. Glenn Mette.
She married William Kelly on Nov. 27, 1984, in Williamsburg, Va.
Lenore was raised in Kingsford and graduated from Kingsford High School in 1963. She graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism in 1967 and began a career with the Social Security Administration in the fall of that year.
In 1977, she transferred to the disability program and remained with that program for the rest of her career, assuming positions of increasing responsibility. In 1994, Lenore was appointed director of the division responsible for oversight, with an annual budget of $1.4 billion that is allocated to the states and federal regional offices for the administration of the disability program.
In July 1998, she became the acting deputy associate commissioner for the Office of Disability and a year later was appointed to the Senior Executive Service and permanently assigned as the deputy associate commissioner for the Office of Disability. Lenore was made the acting associate commissioner for the Office of Disability in June 2002, and at the time of her death, she was associate commissioner for Disability Determinations.
Lenore is survived by her husband, Bill and her sister and brother-in-law, Annette and Paul Santoni. She also leaves her three very special nieces, Maria Santoni, Kathryn (Chad) Menza, and Kristina (Scott) Oswald. Lenore is also survived by her uncle and aunt, Al and Dottie Carlson of Sarasota, Fla., her aunts, Mildred Brans and Jeanne Nelson of Iron Mountain, and several cousins and close friends.
Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford. Rev. Michael March will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
Pallbearers include Gerald F. Riley, Dennis Engquist, Robert Wedin, Albert Santoni, Steve Lewis, Richard Celello, and John Daley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Northwoods Airlifeline in her memory.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
