Roger D. Swanson
KINGSFORD - Roger D. Swanson, 82, of 124 Henford St., Kingsford, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at his home.
Roger was born on Sept. 21, 1924, in Rhinelander, Wis., the youngest child of the late Oscar and Emma (Carlson) Swanson. As a child, the family moved to Kingsford where his father worked at the Ford plant and they resided at 712 E. Sagola St. in East Kingsford.
Roger graduated with the Kingsford High School class of 1942. After school, he went to Milwaukee to work for a year, and then to California working on radio equipment for the U.S. Signal Corps. After the war, he was employed by United Airlines in Sacramento, Calif., returning to this area in the early 1950s.
He married Frances "Babe" Coello in Calumet, on Oct.16, 1954.
Roger was employed by Cochran Motors, General Controls, Lake Shore and at Edwards Chevrolet in the parts department, retiring in 1986.
In his earlier years, Roger enjoyed hanging out at K.O.'s gas station, hunting at Elmer's camp, fishing and golfing. Most recently, he enjoyed watching the Weather Channel and all sports, especially the Packers. He was an avid storyteller.
Roger cherished the time he spent with his grandson, Matt. He was a kind and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, neighbor and friend to many and will be missed very much.
Roger is survived by his wife of 52 years, Babe; sons, Michael (Teresa) and their son, Matthew, of Kingsford, Mark (Kim) of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Todd (Beth) of Marquette; his sisters-in-law, Ruth and Elsie Swanson of Kingsford and Johanna Gravier of Spirit Lake, Wis. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, K.O. and Alton Swanson and four sisters, Lois (Elmer) Freeberg, Doreen (Vern) Josephson, Arlaine (John) McDonough and Ardith Swanson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
Burial will be in Quinnesec cemetery.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Lorraine Arletta Salczenko Neuens
FENCE, Wis. - Lorraine Arletta Salczenko Neuens, 68, was received into eternal life on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, following a brief stay at Florence Villa.
Lorraine was born on Nov. 22, 1938, to Edward and Katherine Thomas in Fence.
In July 1955, she married Fred Salczenko of Chicago. He preceded her in death in November 1962. She was married to Norman (Butch) Neuens from 1965 to 1998. She moved to Appleton in 2000 and resided there until the time of her death.
Survivors include her nine children, Fred (Donnette Thayer) Salczenko of Aurora, Wis., Paul (Ayse Certel) Salczenko of Callaway, Fla., Robert (Lisa Tauscheck) Salczenko of Iron Mountain, Gloria (Paul) Cameron of Appleton, Wis., Jeffrey (Dayana Gonzalez Diaz) Salczenko of League City, Texas, Dawn (Andy) Lassila of Kingsford, Norman Neuens Jr. of Aurora, Scott (Roxanne Zigman) Neuens of Aurora, and William (Amy Bates) Neuens of Kingsford; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; three sisters, Vern Moddie, Doris Schuirmann, Betty Janczewski and two brothers, Pat and Walter Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Marion Muress and Ruth Olive as well as her brother, Bill Thomas.
Lorraine found her greatest joy in creating floral arrangements for all occasions - weddings, anniversaries, craft shows - and for many years did all the corsages for the Florence High School graduations. She operated Lorraine's Floral in her home as well as inside the Neuens Lawn and Garden Center in Iron Mountain. Even up to this past December, she was creating corsages for others in spite of not being able to see her creations as her sight was failing.
She faithfully read "Our Daily Bread" and her radio was tuned to WRVM as she gave God the glory in all she did. She was active in area Christian women's organizations, Rural Bible Crusades and for many years was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God in Kingsford and later at Fox Valley Christian Fellowship in Kimberly.
She also enjoyed her children and grandchildren and treasured their visits.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Maranatha Assembly of God in Kingsford.
Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the church. Rev. David Wilton and Rev. Terry Wilson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Fence cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her eldest grandsons, Michael Salczenko, Zachariah Cameron, Timothy Fayas, Ryan Fayas, Scott Neuens, Dustin Lassila, Tyler Neuens, and Bill Neuens Jr.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Lorraine"s name.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Leah Marie Doenier
KINGSFORD - Baby daughter Leah Marie Doenier touched our hearts and silently left our lives on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007.
Leah is survived by her parents, Lance Doenier and Sheila McNulty-Doenier of Breitung Township; a sister, Ellyce Doenier at home; maternal grandparents, Pete and Judy McNulty of Sheboygan Falls, Wis.; paternal grandparents, Vern and Betty Doenier of Mondovi, Wis.; maternal great-grandmother, Olivia Schwoerer of St. Nazianz, Wis. and paternal great-grandmother, Lorraine Julson of Mondovi; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Private family services were held at St. Mary Queen of Peace Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner officiated.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Kingsford Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.

Lorraine E. Johnson
IRON MOUNTAIN - Lorraine Esther Johnson, 82, of 852 East F St., Iron Mountain, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
Lorraine was born April 14, 1924, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late August and Esther (Rehn) Carlson. She was a 1944 graduate of Kingsford High School. Following high school, she worked for the McDonald-Douglas Corp. in the Chicago area during World War II.
Lorraine married Arthur E. Johnson on June 5, 1954, at First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. She was also employed for Red Owl Foods in Iron Mountain for 10 years and as a crossing guard for Iron Mountain Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1993.
Lorraine was an active member of First Lutheran Church. She was a member of the church choir for 60 years, served as Sunday school superintendent and teacher for several years and was a member of the Martha Society, Luther League, Lydia Circle and the prayer chain.
She was a charter member of the WELCA. Lorraine was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 44 and the first Drum and Bugle Corp. through the Kingsford American Legion.
She was a very caring and giving person who enjoyed needlepoint, reading and vegetable and flower gardening.
She is survived by her husband Arthur; three sons, Duane Johnson of Iron Mountain, Mark Johnson of Sheboygan, Wis. and Paul Johnson of Iron Mountain; a sister, Dorothy (Milton) Hendrickson of Iron Mountain; her sister-in-law, Margaret Carlson of Kingsford, many nieces and nephews and her son's golden retriever, Buddy.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Irving Carlson.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at The Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.
A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Eastern Star services at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. James Chinery will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
Pallbearers will be her sons, David and James Hendrickson and Fran Orler.

Anna M. Larsch
KINGSFORD - Anna M. Larsch, 77, of 517 Withworth Ave. in Kingsford, died on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
Anna was born May 1, 1929, in Niagara, Wis. She was the daughter of the late Dewey and Irene (Peters) Freeman and has been a lifelong resident of this area.
She married Raymond J. Larsch in September 1970.
Anna enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time at camp. She loved gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond; a brother, Bruce (Rosanne) Freeman of Niagara; two sisters, Janet Davis of Niagara and Gladys Vandenheuvel of Pembine, Wis.; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Colleen Lessor of Kingsford.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
The family has entrusted the Kingsford Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.

Elizabeth "Liz" Christensen
KINGSFORD - Elizabeth A. "Liz" Christensen, 59, of 225 Maple St., Kingsford, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Liz was born on March 2, 1947, in Ishpeming, daughter of the late Theodore and Ann Marie (Kovar) Hupp. She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1965 and was a lifelong resident of the area.
Liz married Jim Christensen on June 26, 1965, at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. She was a member of American Martyrs and the ladies guild of the church. Liz enjoyed cooking, hunting, reading, collecting cookbooks, her flower garden, going to camp, and listening to country music. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, who fondly called her "Gaga".
Liz is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jim; a son, Ted Christensen (Donna Borden) of Quinnesec; a daughter, Amy (Eric) Fiorucci of Kingsford; a sister, Wanda (Wayne) Gardipee of Quinnesec; two grandchildren, Tianna "Tia" and Levi Fiorucci; special friends, Marie Blanton and Carol Vardian; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Kingsford funeral home and 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery in Bagley, Michigan.
Pallbearers will be Donald Christensen, Dale and Justin Shepherd, Chris Gardipee, Phillip Klatt, and Scott Dahlke.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Kingsford Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.

Frank M. Gregor
IRON MOUNTAIN - Frank M. Gregor, 96, of Iron Mountain, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at Maryhill Manor Nursing Home in Niagara.
He was born May 18, 1910, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Matt and Rosie Gregorich. Frank graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1928 and was a lifelong resident of the area.
He was employed by the city of Iron Mountain for 17 years, retiring in 1972. Frank married LaVern Rose Sentko on Aug. 31, 1940, in Iron Mountain. She preceded him in death on April 16, 1983.
He was a harmonica player in the Amidon Follies. Frank loved nature and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He appeared on television, sports magazines and maps for a 28-pound, 48-inch Northern Pike that he speared on Moon Lake.
Frank is survived by two sons, Frank L. Gregor (Linda Kohlhaupt) of Milwaukee and Ronald E. Gregor of Niagara; five grandchildren, Kelly Gendron, Ronn (Terrie) Gregor, Kim (Howard) Dumke, David Gregor and Bob Gregor; and eight great grandchildren, Tamara Gendron, Brandon Dumke, Kaila Dumke, Torrie Gregor, Lissa Gregor, Nate Watts, Sammi Gregor, and Alli Gregor.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Steve Gregorich and two sisters, Marion Gregorich and Rose Uren.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Reynaldo Guerrero will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
