Betty L. Baker

Betty L. Baker, 74, of Clyde Township passed away Friday, July 20, 2001, in her residence.

She was born to Clarence and Pearl Pifer on Dec. 21, 1926, in Port Huron.

She married Walter N. Baker on Nov. 4, 1945. He passed away Feb. 1, 1988.

Betty enjoyed going shopping and watching television, especially movies. Going to church on Christmas Eve was very special to her.

She was always concerned for her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two children (Debbie) Baker of North Street and Cathy (John) Harvill of Phoenix Arizona; grandchildren, Tammy (Casey) Boyd of Colville, Wash., Holly (Cesar) Tello of Phoenix, . Ariz. and Lindsay, Karleigh and Jordan Baker, all of North Street; five great-grandchildren, two sisters, Berniece Frasier of Port Huron Township and Violet (Florian) Wolak of Crystal Falls; her brother Clarence Pifer of Sarasota, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Marcina Hux who passed, away May 7, 2001.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2001, in Smith South Family Funeral Home 1230 Seventh St. Burial will follow in Ruby cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Contributions may be made in Betty's memory to the Visiting Nurse Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Jillian Clare Barden

Jillian Clare Barden, 3 1/2, of Smiths Creek died Sunday, July 8, 2001, in her home after a courageous battle with leukemia.

She is survived by her parents, Erik and Beth; a brother, William; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill (Jane) Barden of St. Clair and Mr. and Mrs. Fred (Elma) Green of Burtchville Township; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence (Susan) Welser of St. Clair; two uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Ethan (Nancy) Barden and Mr. and Mrs. Scott (Jennifer) Green; and four cousins, Alexis, Kelsey, Callahan and Gabrielle Green.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2001, in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2001, in Marysville Funeral Home. Beverly Hindson, chaplin of Children's Hospital of Michigan, Detroit, will officiate.

Burial will be in Caswell cemetery, Kimball Township.

Nancy L. Beauvais

Nancy L. Beauvais, 66, of Lakeport, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2001, in her residence after a long illness.

She was born to Kenneth and Mary Belle Beauchamp Buckler on Oct. 2, 1934, in Marine City.

She married Wilfred C. Beauvais Jr. on June 7, 1957, in Bay City. They moved to Port Huron in 1957 and owned and operated Marysville Self Storage until 1995.

Wilfred passed away on Nov. 15, 1990.

On Feb. 21, 1995, Nancy was a lung transplant recipient, which added many years to her life. She worked actively as an advocate for organ donation, and belonged to support groups locally, in Ann Arbor and in Detroit.

She was a member of St. Edward's On-the-Lake Catholic Church and was active with the St. Edward Altar Society, St. Vincent DePaul and the Center for Independent Living.

Nancy is survived by her five children, Denice A. (David) Lapish of Fort Gratiot Township, Maurice K. (Julie) Beauvais of North Street, Clifford C. (Linda) Beauvais of Presque Isle, Charlotte A. (Mark) Meier of Fort Gratiot Township and Belle Marie (R.J. Moussoeu) Beauvais of Lakeport; 10 grandchildren, DeAnna M., Christine M. and Lindsey L. Lapish, Matthew K., Brian L., Courtney M., Jacob S., and Adam C. Beauvais, and Nicholas C. and Dylan D. Meier; her sister, D.D. Buckler of Garden City, Calif.; three sisters-in-law, Judy (Francis) Henry of Arizona, and Dorothy Perry and Elaine Sterling, both of Marine City; her uncle, Dr. Robert Beauchamp of Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be con-celebrated by the Revs. Joseph Esper and Thomas Esper at 11 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2001, in St. Edward's On-the-Lake Catholic Church. A family interment service will be in Mount Hope cemetery at a later time.

Visitation will be 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St., and at 10 a.m. Friday in the church. A scriptural wake service will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Contributions may be made in Nancy's memory to St. Vincent DePaul, American Red Cross or Center for Independent Living.

Lloyd A. Brown

Mr. Lloyd A. Brown, 78, of Jeddo died, Monday, July 9, 2001, in Port Huron Hospital.

He was born Jan. 21, 1923.

He married Neva Jean Fraleigh on March 15, 1952, in North Street.

Mr. Brown farmed his entire life in Burtchville and Grant townships. In 1974, he was named Farmer of the Year by the St. Clair County Soll Conservation District.

He enjoyed pony pulling competitions and gave sleigh and hay rides to area groups.

He was a member of Central- Lakeport United Methodist Church and the men's group.

He is survived by his wife, Neva Jean; a son, Mr. and Mrs. A. Dale (Catherine) Brown of Lakeport; two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Leigh Ann) Rocheleau of Roscommon and Kathleen Brown of Lakeport; three grandchildren, Zachariah Norman Rocheleau and his wife, Annie, Melissa Susan Brown and Jeremy Todd Brown; a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin (Beatrice) Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock- Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Rev. Fred-erick Neumann and the Rev. Darrell Tallman will officiate.

Burial will be in Burtchville Township cemetery.

Dorothy E. Burgett

Mrs. Dorothy E. Burgett, 89, of Port Huron, died Friday, July 13, 2001 in her home.

Mrs. Burgett was born March 13, 1912 in Hamilton, Ontario and lived in the Port Huron area most of her life. She married Leo J. Richert who died June 2, 1958, then she married Wilber R. Burgett, who died in 1994.

Dorothy was a representative for Avon for 29 years. She was the president of the International Girls named Dorothy Club. She was also a long time member of the Blue Water Art Club. Dorothy was a member of St. Mary Church.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas L. (Pamela) Richert of Port Huron and Leo J. (Judy) Richert of Nevada City, CA; a sister, June (Virgil) Miller of Port Huron; 6 grandchildren; and 0 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 23, 2001, in Mt. Hope cemetery. The Rev. C. Paul Higdon will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery. No visiting hours are scheduled.

Memorials may be made to St. Clair County Council on Aging.

Arrangements are by Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Kristine Mosher

Kristine Elizabeth Mosher, age 56, of Fort Gratiot Township died Tuesday, September 18, 2007.

Kristine was born on June 22, 1951 in Port Huron to George and Camilla Mosher. She attended Michigan State University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1973. Immediately following her graduation, she moved to Australia where she was a teacher and outdoor expedition leader for over thirty years. Also during that time, she earned a Master's Degree in Outdoor Recreation from Aurora University. Kristine served as the Australian branch coordinator for the Institute for Earth Education, Inc. and shared her love of the natural world with countless youth on two continents.

Kristine was an outdoor enthusiast and environmentalist traveling the world extensively. She once crewed on a Tall Ship, cycled the Isle of Man and backpacked in the mountains of Australia, USA and Tibet. She was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt. Recently she took great pleasure boating throughout the Great Lakes and tributaries with her dad. She also enjoyed kayaking with her nieces, and treasured the time each of her three nephews visited her in Australia.

Kristine will always be remembered for her positive attitude and caring nature toward others.

Kristine is survived by her father, George W. Mosher of Fort Gratiot; siblings, William and Robyn Mosher of Fort Gratiot, Julia and Henry Sobell of Lexington, Mary and Kirk Stathes of Denver, Emily and Matthew Wallace of Fort Gratiot; her nieces and nephews, Bryan and Arwen Mosher, Benjamin and Michelle Weston, Jacob Sobell, Stephen Sobell, George Sobell, Florence Ann Sobell, Corbu and Ellen Stathes, Annie Stathes, Katherine and William Webster, Luke Wallace, Elizabeth Wallace; grand-nephews, Andrew Weston and Logan Weston; grand-niece, Camilla Mosher; aunt Marjorie Carlsen; uncle, Kent Crawford; several cousins; and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her mother (Florence) Camilla Mosher.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Grace Episcopal Church in Port Huron.

Visitation will be Friday, September 28, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and Saturday, September 29, 2007 from 10 a.m. until the service time at church.

Lorna A. Burns

Mrs. Lorna Agnes Burns, 93, of North Street went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 3, 2001, in her home.

She was born June 22, 1908, in Port Huron to the late John J. and Agnes Forrester Cook.

She married Robert Lyle Burns on Sept. 29, 1926, in Port Huron. He died July 25, 1987.

Mrs. Burns was a longtime member of Court Street Baptist Church and was currently a member of Sparlingville Baptist Church.

She enjoyed her grand- children, playing the organ and gardening.

She is survived by a daughter, Virginia Carol Reed; three grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Linda) Maffit, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin (Bonnie) Tait, Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Sandy) Reed, all of North Street; five great-grandchildren, Jeffery Whittaker of Fraser, Nathan Whittaker of Battle Creek, Sara Weston of North Street, Carrie Farnsworth of Marysville and Jason Reed of North Street; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret French and Alice Hall, and a son-in-law, Edward J. Reed.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be noon Friday, July 6, 2001, in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron. The Rev. Thomas Brennan of Sparlingville Baptist Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Ruby cemetery, Clyde Township.

Mona B. Cameron

Mona B. Cameron, age 52, of St. Clair, died unexpectedly July 5, 2001.

She was born July 28, 1948 in Port Huron, and lived in the area all her life. Mona worked for Pine River Plastics for 13 years. She enjoyed crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her best friend was her Mom.

She is survived by her daughter Valerie (Kenneth) Rhadigan of Port Huron; son, Mickel (Angelia) Cameron of Burtchville; her mother, Mona Studaker of Port Huron; two sisters, Rose (Richard) Barnes and Lynn (Tom) Thompson, both of Port Huron; her grandchildren, Alexandra, Kenneth, and Danielle Rhadigan, all of Port Huron and Miranda and Brittany Cameron of Burtchville; two nieces, Renee Justa of Battle Creek and Kathy Stefanski of Port Huron; nephew, Ryan Enright of Port Huron; three great-nieces, and two great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father George Cameron; and step-father Lewis Studaker.

The funeral service will be held at noon Monday in the Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock Street, with the Rev. Emerson Arntz officiating.

Graveside committal services will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Richard Barnes, Kenneth Rhadigan, Tom Thompson, Mickel Cameron, Ryan Enright and Don Washburn.

Friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. until the hour of service Monday.

Memorials may be made to the St. Clair County Human Society.

Luella M. Chapple

Luella M. "Lou" Chapple, 85, of St. Clair, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, in St. John River District Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born June 7, 1916, in Gladstone. She lived in Marysville from 1949 to 1962 and, for the past 40 years, in St. Clair.

She married Bruce F. Chapple on Sept. 29, 1962, in Toledo, Ohio.

Lou was a former member of the Moose Lodge; was an avid bowler and loved to travel.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce; two sons, Fred J. (Ruth) Jones of Missouri and Bob (Cindy) Jones of Nebraska; a daughter, Edwina Hinkley of Florida; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elva Morgan of New Jersey.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Joan Louise Trumbla and Georgia Fugate; and a son, Gary P. Trumbla.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service. Her ashes will be interred at Woodland cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are by Smith Family Funeral Home-South.
