George L. Culp

George L. Culp, 88, of Port Huron passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2001, at Port Huron Hospital after a short illness.

He was born to the late Earl A. Culp and Ethel G. Lawrence Culp on March 17, 1913 near Expance, Saskatchewan. Returning to Michigan in the 1920s, Mr. Culp lived in the Port Huron area for seventy-eight years.

He married Genevieve F. Robertshaw on May 24, 1941.

Mr. Culp graduated from Port Huron High School in 1930. He graduated, also, from the University of Detroit's College of Commerce and Finance, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Management in 1955.

Mr. Culp was a member of the University of Detroit Alumni Association, a member of Black River Country Club, since 1934, The Quarter Century Club of Mueller Brass Company, and a former member of the Benevolent Brotherhood of Elks B.P.O.E. Lodge 343. Mr. Culp retired from the Mueller Brass Company in 1985. He was the Superintendent of the tube mill, and Director of Safety for both plants. He also, enjoyed a second-career teaching higher mathematics for the Port Huron School District, retiring in 1988.

Mr. Culp is survived by his wife, Genevieve; two daughters and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Yandes Wheeler III (Frances) of Washington, D.C. and Delaplane, Virginia and Dr. and Mrs. Joel Thomas Dean (Suzanne) of Port Huron; three grandchildren, Miss Genevieve Eustis Wheeler of New York, New York; Mr. George Yandes Wheeler IV of Washington, D.C. and Ms. Andrea Elizabeth Dean of San Franciso, California. Two sisters and brother-in-law, Mr. and Ms. Stanley Tollander (Gladys E.) of Kimball Township, Mrs. Eugene Clark (Ellen) of Fort Gratiot Township. Several nieces, cousins, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Lawrence Earl Culp and Marguerite M. Davis.

Cremation has taken place.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave., at 17th Street.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Humane Society.

Kenneth R. Daggett

Kenneth R. Daggett, 61, of Port Huron died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, in his residence following a long illness.

He was born July 18, 1940, in Harbor Beach, son of the late Ralph and Verla Daggett. He married Gloria P. Borbon.

He retired from the U.S. Navy after 27 years and was a Security Guard at Detroit Edison and Mueller Brass Company. He was a member of Moose Lodge 158; the Fleet Reserve Association; and AARP.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Daggett of Port Huron; his daughters, Mary Daggett of Nebraska, Christine Daggett of California, Patty Daggett and Paula Martin, both of Nebraska; step-daughter and son-in-law, Wawie Marie and Brian Gay of Florida; his step-son, Neil Trinidad of Florida; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Nancy and Herbert Dandron; his brother, James and Francile Daggett; and several niece, nephews, cousin, aunts and uncles.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001 in Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. The Rev. Paul Smith, Pastor of Victory Temple will officiate.

Visiting hours are noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday in Jowett Funeral Home.

St. Clair County Allied Veterans will conduct Military Honors.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Donald G. Ernest Sr.

Donald G. Ernest Sr., 65, of Port Huron passed away on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, in Port Huron Hospital after a long illness.

He was born Oct. 11, 1936, in Jeddo, the son of the late Guy and Gertrude McGaw Ernest.

He married Katherine McPhail on Sept. 13, 1958, in Port Huron.

Mr. Ernest worked at Prestolite Wire Co. until they closed.

He loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine; daughter, Carl (Linda) Buskell; four sons, Steven, Donald Jr., James and Corey; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ernest and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ernest; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are by Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave., at 17th Street.

Louise M. Fair

Louise M. Fair, 84, of Marysville died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, in her home.

She was born Oct. 27, 1917, in Burtchville Township and had lived in the area all her life.

She married Louis G. Fair. He died in 1953.

Louise nursed at Mercy Hos-pital for 25 years before she retired in 1981. She enjoyed playing cards with different groups.

She was a very loving grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by two daughters, Cynda L. Turner of Fenton and Barbara C. Fair of Marysville; grandson, Mark R. Turner and partner, Jeff Farnath, of Los Angeles; granddaughter, Kristine M. Turner of Fenton; grandson, Scott S. Turner and partner, David White, of Long Beach, Calif.; granddaughter, Michelle E. (Bryan) Chicone of Port Huron; great-grandchildren, Dallas, Nicklaus and Brady; sister, Virginia R. Buchanan of Port Huron; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. C. Paul Higdon, senior priest will officiate.

Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9 to 10 a.m. Friday in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the senior centers.

A scripture service will be 7 p.m. today.

Mechell L. Glombowski

Mechell Lamb Glombowski, 27, of Fort Gratiot died unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, in Port Huron Hospital.

She was born Feb. 4, 1974, in Port Huron.

She married Gerald Glombowski on Nov. 3, 2001, in Las Vegas.

Mrs. Glombowski enjoyed bowling, caring for her animals and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her husband; her mother, Judy and Richard Tomrell; grandparents, Edward Sr. and Alice Lamb; grandmother, June Pickelhaupt; a sister, April and Tim Jones; a brother, Michael Pickelhaupt; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Maxine Sanford and Stephen Glombowski; grandmother-in- law, Arlene Mills; three sisters-in-law, Shelley Greer, and Shawna and Angela Glombowski; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Lamb Jr., and two sisters, Allison and Amy.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron. The Rev. Johnnie Johnson will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery, Port Huron.

Pallbearers will be Matthew and Paul Lamb, Michael Pickelhaupt and Tim Jones.

Kenneth H. James

Kenneth H. James, 92, of St. Clair, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, after a long illness in the compassionate care of Marwood Nursing and Rehab, Port Huron.

He was born on Aug. 16, 1909, in Point Edward, Ontario, to Wilfred and Mary James.

Kenneth loved playing cards and golf. He retired in 1973 after 45 years of service as general yardmaster for Grand Trunk Western Railroad. He was a member of the Canadian National Transportation Club; Grand Lodge of Railroad Yardmasters; Black River Boat Club; Marysville Golf Club; Pilgrim Lutheran Church of Marysville; Moose Lodge 158; Englewood, Fla., Golf Club; Elks Lodge 2378 Englewood, Fla.; Lakeshore Lutheran Church of Venice, Fla.; and Pine Shores Golf Club of St. Clair.

He loved his family and friends and will be forever missed for his warmth, love and humor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Marie M. James; daughter, Barbara R. (Marvin) Lasky of St. Clair; son, Gerald (Carol) James of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren, Lori (Douglas) Simoes of West Bloomfield, Douglas J. Lasky of Birmingham, Patrick (Tracy) James and Michelle (Patrick) Malone, both of Marysville; five great-grandchildren; and one niece, Shirley (Mervin) Tomlin of Marysville.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnn M. James in 1997, and a sister, Oleta (Robert) Milne.

Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service was in Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Marysville.

Contributions may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Marysville, or Marwood Nursing and Rehab.

Arrangements were by Smith Family Funeral Home, North, 1525 Hancock St.

Robert L. Isaac Sr.

Robert L. "Big Bob" Isaac Sr., 58, of Kimball Township went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 30, 2001.

He was born to the late Raymond and Evelyn Isaac on June 5, 1943, in Port Huron.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy in the early 1960s, worked at JN Enterprises, and drove a semi for the Port Huron Seaway Terminal until cancer took over his life. He was well known to his many wonderful friends as "Big Bob."

Robert will be deeply missed in the hearts of all his children, grandchildren, other relatives and all who knew him.

He is survived by his eight children, Anita (Brad) Brittain, Terry (Bruce) Brittain, Bobby (Trina) Isaac, Art (Michelle) Isaac, Lin (Sherry) Miller, Michael Sheaffer, Charles Smith and Tony Jewel; his grandchildren, Eric and his fiancee, Donna, Amanda, Michael, Bruce Lee, Corey, Joyce, Brittaney, Baby Robert, Brandon, Katlynne, Matt, Kile, Catrina and Gary; his brothers, Don (Betty) Isaac and Roy Isaac; his step-mother, Lela Isaac; his step-sisters, Lois Weber, Kathy Stefani, Connie Isaac and Diane (Bob) Warczinski; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, in Smith Family Funeral Home, South, 1230 Seventh St. The Rev. Stephen Johnson, Pastor of Hillside Wesleyan Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Caswell cemetery under the direction of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Contributions may be made in Robert's memory to all the wonderful people and organizations who helped the family in their time of need such as Blue Water Hospice, United Way or the Veterans of America.

Cameron J. Kirby

Cameron J. Kirby, 18, of Kimball Township died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, in San Antonio, Texas, after a short illness.

He was born May 2, 1983, in Port Huron and lived in the area most of his life.

Cameron loved life. He was involved with 4-H helping many young people. He loved horses, computers, technology and anything that challenged him.

Cameron was an active duty private E-2, in the U.S. Army, and was stationed, at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He received the Army Achievement Medal, two Colonels Coins, a Battalion Coin and a Three Star General Coin.

He is survived by his mother, Dawn Kirby of Kimball Township, father, Rodney (Maria) Kirby of San Antonio, Texas grandmother, Jeanette Stone of Ruby; grandparents, Catherine and Frank Newman of Kimball Township; grandparents, Ron and Shirley Kirby of Owosso; great-grandmother, Waneta, Kirby of Owosso; great grandparents, Helen and Harold Black of Sarnia, Ontario; brothers, Joshua and Aaron; sisters, Mandi, Ashley, Tonya, Mariah, Tracie and Jenna; nephew, Tristen; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wendell Stone.

The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday in the Smith Family Funeral, South, 1230 Seventh St. with the Rev. David Caswell, pastor of Northgate Bible Church officiating. Friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Sunday, December 10, 2001, in the funeral home.

Cameron will be buried with full military honors in Christian

Memorial cemetery, Peck, under the auspices of active duty US Army servicemen.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

John A. LaForge

John A. LaForge, 79, of Port Huron died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, after a short illness.

He was born in Detroit, on Dec. 19, 1921, to the late Frederick and M. Myrtle LaForge.

John graduated from Port Huron High School in 1940 and was employed by the Detroit Edison Co. for 40 years, retiring in June 1981.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater.

John was active in sports all his life and was a faithful member of the YMCA of the Blue Water Area until his death. He was an avid handball player and enjoyed his association with his many friends at the YMCA.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; a sister, Betty Martin; sisters-in-law, Barbara LaForge, Jean Riedel and Marie Wilburn; brothers-in-law, Lynn Bales and Charles (Karen) McCombs; numerous nieces and nephews; a special niece, Lynn Gaudette and family, Chad, Court and Peter; and special nephew, Tom (Lou) Riedel and children, Christian and Chelsea.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Genevieve Geoffroy, Ann Jones and Alice Bales, and his brothers, Frederick, William and Robert LaForge.

Burial was in Lakeside cemetery.

A private family memorial service will be at a later date.

Contributions may be made in John's memory to St. John River District Hospice.

Arrangements were by Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St.
