MARIE MARGARET PABST
Marie Margaret Pabst, 78, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at Moffitt Cancer Center Research Institute in Tampa, Florida.
She was born on April 14, 1926 in Parisville, Michigan, daughter to the late John and Catherine (Wruble) Parteka.

She married Russell Pabst on June 25, 1949 in Parisville, Michigan. He preceded her in death on may 29, 2001.

She was a member of the St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church and Alter Society, Sanilac Farm Bureau and Red Hat Society.

She is survived by sons, John and Colleen Pabst of Marlette, Kenneth Pabst of St. Petersburg, FL, Paul Pabst of Marlette and Mark Pabst of St. Petersburg, FL.; sisters, Lillian and Phil Hund of Rochester, MI., Vickey Riley of Lansing, MI., Virginia Zimmer of Marlette and Sophie Peruske of Ubly, MI; grandchildren, Jill, Sarah, Matthew and Ashley and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Dana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, brothers, Mike and Edward and sisters, Anna and Agnes.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marlette with Fr. Reginaldo Salcedo officiating. Interment was at Marlette cemetery.

Casketbearers included Chuck Cousins, Fred Abel, Pat Hund, Joe Riley, Matthew Pabst and Greg Goodrich.

A rosary service was conducted Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Arrangements by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette.

MARY VIRGINIA WASHBURN
Mary V. Washburn, 90, of Marlette, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at the Marlette Community Hospital-Hospice House.
She had lived in the Marlette area for the past 11 years and was previously from Alma, Michigan.

She was born on November 16, 1914 in Ithica, Michigan, daughter to the late Volney and Grace Bell (DuBois) Church.

She graduated from Alma High School and received her teaching certificate from Alma College.

She married Leo Carl Washburn on September 12, 1938 in Alma, Michigan. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1994.

She taught kindergarten in the Alma area for 25 years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Alma and attended the C.M.A. Bethel Church in Marlette.

She is survived by daughters, Barbara and Kenneth Patriquin of Marlette and Nan (BeiSingh) Washburn-Chen of Japan; sister, Jeanette Carter of Florida; grandchildren, Kris, Todd, Troy and Tyler and great-granddaughter, Cameron.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Phyllis Dennis and a brother, Fred Church.

Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, Michigan.

A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Marlette First United Methodist with Rev. Daniel Bowman officiating.

A memorial fellowship service will also be conducted on Wednesday, March 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Alma, Michigan.

Memorials may be made to the Marlette First United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church in Alma or Doctor’s Without Borders.

LILLIAN M. CHARD
Lillian M. Chard, 79, a life long resident of Lamotte Township, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Hills & Dales General Hospital in Cass City, Michigan.
She was born on February 8, 1926 in Marlette, daughter of the late William and Lillian (Fahning) Boegner.

She graduated from Marlette High School in 1945.

She married Leon T. Chard in August, 1947 in Marlette. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1979.

She was a member of the former Eastern Stars in Decker for many years.

She is survived by a son, Tom (Cathy) Chard of Decker; daughters, Susan (Mick) Plummer Jr. of Ansbach, Germany and Kathy (Paul) Chapin of Snover; a brother, William Boegner of Port Huron, MI.; sisters, Catherine Boegner of Sandusky, Ruth (Charlie) Pepper of Sandusky, Ilene Buby of Dearborn, MI. and Olive Huebel of Oscoda, MI; grandchildren, Krista, Dena, Casey, Bree, Kevin, Kris, Riley and Jordan; great-granddaughter, Kate and special niece, Neda (Howard) Hoffman of Caro. MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, William Boegner; and a sister, Jean Mason.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette with Pastor David Pratt of the Heritage United Methodist Church in Snover officiating. Interment will be in Mooretown cemetery in Snover.

Casketbearers were Dennis Chard, Rick Chard, Andrew Hoffman, Bert Mason, John Boegner and Joseph Mason.

Memorials may be made to the Snover Heritage Church or a memorial of choice.

VENAE P. HOBSON
Venae P. Hobson, 42, a life long resident of Marlette, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2005 at her home in Marlette Township.
She was born on October 23, 1962 in Marlette, daughter of Paul and Mary Lou (Nicol) Prowse.

She was a 1980 graduate of Marlette High School.

She married Douglas Hobson on April 16, 1983 in Marlette.

She was a day car provider at her home for many years.

She was a member of the Marlette First United Methodist Church, the Michigan Quarter Horse Association and the Sanilac 4-H where she was a leader.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas Hobson of Marlette; sons, Andrew and Tyler Hobson of Marlette; parents, Paul and Mary Lou Prowse of Marlette; sister, Val of Caro, MI.; brother, Vic of Hastings, MI.; father-in-law, George and Kaye Hobson of Marlette; mother-in-law, Lois and Gerald Tailieu of Luzerne, MI.; sister-in-law, Penny and Bryan Wiegert of Marlette; nieces, Krystle and Katelyn Wiegert of Marlette; step sister-in-law, Stacy Hobson of Marlette; step brother-in-law, Gordon Hobson of Rally, N.C.; her day care children and special friend, horse Satin.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Pastor Daniel Bowman of the Marlette United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment was at Germania cemetery in Marlette Township.

Casketbearers were Chris Heussner, Marty English, Jared McCready, Ed Gerstenberger, Keith Nicol and Wayne Nicol.

Memorials may be made to the United Hospice Service or the Marlette First United Methodist Church.

HENRY L. “LARRY” WEST
Henry L. “Larry” West, 52, of Kansas City, formerly of Walled Lake, Michigan passed away March 3, 2005.
He was husband of 32 years to wife, Cheryl and father of Lawrence (Danielle), Christopher (Sarah), Brian West and the late David West.

He was the grandfather of Brittany, Nathaniel, Trevor and Dakota; son of Edna (Bob) McLachlan, brother of Marilyn (Dennis) King and James (Linda) West and grandson of Homer (Zelma) Smith. He was also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral mass from St. William Catholic Church, Walled Lake, was conducted on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 10:00 a.m.

Memorials to the American Kidney Fund or the National Arbor Day Society.

Arrangements by Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, Walled Lake, Michigan.

FRANCIS JOSEPH DOHERTY
Francis Joseph Doherty, 89, of Burnside Township, Brown City, passed away Friday, February 25, 2005 at Lapeer Regional Hospital in Lapeer.
He was born on February 26, 1915 in Brown City, Michigan, the son of the late Phillip and Mary (Stine) Doherty.

He was a lifelong area resident and farmer and a 1935 graduate of Brown City High School.

He married Ruth Kreiner on April 12, 1939 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Burnside. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Church and the Imlay City Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; three sons, Bruce Doherty of Brown City, Delbert and Deborah Doherty of Saginaw and Gary and Karen Doherty of St. Peters, Missouri; three daughters, Joyce and Ron Robison of Marlette, Mary and Jeff Ribby of Holt and Nancy and Paul Wiswell of Holly; two brothers, Carl and Evelyn Doherty of Brown City and Robert and Mary Ann Doherty of Clio; four sisters, Sister Marie Elizabeth Doherty of Adrian, Rosella Ford of Brown City, Cecelia Lambert of Marlette and Gertrude and John Real of California; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Bernard.

A Knights of Columbus Rosary was held on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Burnside with Fr. Richard Treml officiating. Interment was in St. Mary’s cemetery in Burnside.

Casketbearers included Brandon Doherty, Tim Robison, Kevin Doherty, Brain Wiswell, Rick Lutz and David Ribby.

Memorials may be made to The Capuchins, Guest House or the Adrian Dominican Sisters.

Arrangements by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette.

FRANCES C. STROMAN
Frances C. Stroman, 90, of Marlette passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at Arbor Hospice in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
She had lived in Marlette for the past 15 years and was previously from the Brown City, Michigan area.

She was born on February 11, 1915 in Lake Linden, Michigan, daughter to the late John and Cordelia (Piche) Schwab.

She married Addison (Bud) Stroman on October 2, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1994.

She is survived by a son-in-law, Ken Milkolowski of Ann Arbor; daughter-in-law, Marsha Stroman of Frazer, MI.; sister, Claire Brown of Taylor, MI.; grandchildren, Michael Mikolowski of Grosse Pointe Farms, MI. Molly and Nick Mikolowski-Liberty of Minneapolis, MN and Amanda and Larry Schehr of Frazer and a great-grandson, Anton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Stroman; daughter, Ann Mikolowski and brother Clarence and Connie Schwab.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette. Interment was at the Marlette cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Arbor Hospice in Ann Arbor, MI.
