DENNIS OSTAPOWICZ
Dennis Ostapowicz, 52, of Marlette, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2004 in Ann Arbor.
He was born on November 19, 1951 in Detroit to Adam and Genevieve Ostapowicz.

He married Virginia Kren on May 26, 1979.

The Pastor of the Immanuel Revival Church in Brown City, he also owned and operated Abundant Life Maintenance for 15 years.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia "Jene"; six children, Rachael, Jeremiah, Sharon Rose, Jacob, Josiah and Justice; two brothers, Edward and Gary; and a sister, Diane.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were conducted at the Immanuel Revival Church in Brown City on Friday, August 6, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Interment was at Evergreen cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Arrangements by Carman Funeral Home in Brown City.

PHYLLIS MARGARET COX
Phyllis M. Cox, 84, of Deford, died Sunday, August 1, 2004, in Marlette Community Hospital.
She was born March 12, 1920 in Shabbona to Avon and Margaret (Phillips) Boag.

She married Elmore Caister. After his death, she married Kenneth Churchill in 1946. After his death, she married Clarence Cox on May 29, 1979 in Deford United Methodist Church.

She worked at Cass City Public School System as a cook and bus driver, retiring after 22 years. She was a member of Deford United Methodist Church, Deford Good Neighbors Club, United Methodist Women, and Michigan Education Employee Retirement.

She was one of the first women involved in the plumbing and heating business in Cass City, first with Boag & Caister, then with Boag & Churchill.

She was one of the first to start the Senior Meal Site in Cass City.

She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, and visiting with family, friends and neighbors.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence, Argyle Road, Snover, children: Ann Smith of Caro, Carol (Jim) Savedge of Clarkston, Charles (Kathy) Churchill of Burlington, Ontario, and Dale (Patricia) Churchill of Deford; daughter-in-law, Gayle Churchill of Elberton, NJ, son-in-law, Arnold Leach of Flint; grandchildren: Kevin (Bonnie) Churchill, Karen (Don) DeMarco, Michael (Amy) Smith, Toby (Janet) Smith, Sean Smith, Tim (Diane) Swalwell, Tamara Swalwell, Wade (Cathy) Swalwell, Nathan Churchill, Lyndsey Churchill, Corinne (Brandon) Rogers, Jennifer Churchill, Stacey Churchill, and Katherine Churchill, great grandchildren: Shelby, Taylor, Madeline, Evan, Cameron, Charlotte, Olivia, Jamie, Josh, Ty, Cody, Galilee, Guinness, Eloise, Jordon, and Jenna; sister, Donna Miller; brother-in-law, Bill Bird; several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her son, Vernon Churchill, daughter, Janice Leach, sister, Jean Bird, brothers-in-law: Donald Peterson and Henry Miller.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, August 4, 2004 in Kingston United Methodist with Rev. Terry Butters officiating.

Interment will be in Novesta Township cemetery, Cass City.

Memorials may be made to Kingston United Methodist Church or Cass City Public Schools.

RALPH B. CALLENDER
Ralph B. Callender, 80, a life long resident and farmer of Marlette, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2004 at his home, in Marlette Township.
He was born on May 28, 1924 in Marlette, son to the late Irven and Jean (Wilson) Callender.

He graduated from Marlette High School in 1942.

He married Mary Ellen Benedict on March 25, 1944. She preceded him in death on November 11, 2003.

He was a member of the Marlette First Presbyterian Church, the Sanilac County Farm Bureau, the Michigan Milk Association and was on the A.C.S. Board.

He is survived by his daughter, Lori and Jerry Bracken of Marlette; grandchildren, Jody Lambert of Chester Ville Township, MI., Jack Callender of Marlette, Marty and Christine Callender of Almont, MI., Rodney and Jenny Bracken of Seawall Pointe Fl., and Bradley and Morgan Bracken of Jacksonville, FL.; brother-in-law, Austin Ball of St. Clair Shores, MI. and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, James; a grandson, Tim Lambert; a brother, Gordon and a sister, Marion Ball.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 5, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Rev. Kenneth Parker officiating. Interment will be in Marlette cemetery.

Visitation will continue on Wednesday, August 4 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette.

Memorials may be made to the Marlette First Presbyterian Church or the American Diabetes Association.

ADVEDA OTULAKOWSKI
Adveda Otulakowski, age 70, of Brown City, died July 26, 2004 in Detroit.
She was born November 24, 1933 in Novesta Township, Michigan to Max and Anna Kruzel.

She was married to Eugene V. Otulakowski and was a high school graduate.

She worked at Elias Brothers Big Boy in Imlay City for almost 17 years.

Adveda is survived by her seven children: Charlene (Neal) Gubanche of Brown City, Barbara (Michael) Peak of Marlette, Mike (Deb) Otulakowski of Cass City, Debbie Otulakowski of Brown City, Pat Torres of Irvine, California, Bill (Renee) Otulakowski of Sandusky, and Angela Otulakowski of Brown City; 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers Bruno Kruzel and Pete Kruzel; 2 sisters Bernice Carpenter and Frances Zygmunt and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 infant daughters, and a great-grandson, Thomas Jeffery Guldi.

A gathering of family and friends was held Thursday from 2:00 - 9:00 pm at Carman Funeral Home in Brown City.

Funeral services was held Friday at 11:00 am with Pastor Rick Fledderjohann officiating.

A visitation was held at the Brown City Missionary Church prior to the service at 9:30 am.

Burial was held in the Evergreen cemetery.

REX WILLIAM WILSON
Rex W. Wilson, age 79, life long resident and farmer of Marlette passed away Monday, July 26, 2004 at his home in Marlette Twp.
Mr. Wilson was born January 16, 1925 in Marlette, son to the late Russell and Pearl (Keys) Wilson.

He was a 1942 graduate of Marlette High School.

He married Ruth Diegel October 23, 1943 in North Branch.

He was one of the original members of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and of the K of C's in Marlette and served on the Church board for several years. He was a 4-H Leader in Sanilac Co. for 25 years, served on the board of directors for Marlette Oil & Gas Co-op for 27 years. He was a member of the Michigan Milk Producers Association, a board member of D.H.I.A. and M.A.P.C.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, son Jerry (Elaine) Wilson of Brookland, daughters Karen (Joe) Watson of Byron Center, Cheryl (Phillip) Zawilinski of Cass City, daughter in law Jody (Dale) Kerbyson of Marlette, 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Richard, brother Keith and sister Mary Almas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, 2004 at 11:00 am in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marlette, with Fr. Richard Bokinski officiating.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday 3 pm to 9 pm, Thursday 1 pm to 9 pm at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette and Friday 10 am until the time of service at the Church.

A K of C rosary will be held on Wednesday night at 7 pm and parish Vigil Service Thursday night at 7 pm in the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette.

Burial will be in the St. Elizabeth cemetery in Marlette.

Memorial may be donated to the Marlette cemetery Chapel Fund, United Hospice Service or the American Cancer Society.

RAYMOND J. HARNECK
Raymond J. Harneck, 77, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Monday, July 5, 2004 at his home in Marlette.
He had lived in the Marlette area for several years and was previously from Kingston, Michigan.

He was born on May 9, 1927 in Kingston, son to the late Arthur and Mildred (Michler) Harneck.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in 1945 and 1946.

He married Annabelle Keys on April 5, 1952 in Marlette.

He worked as a sales manager for Jubb Motor Sales and Dave Miller Ford Mercury in Marlette and Moore Motor Co. in Caro until his retirement.

He enjoyed gardening, camping, watching his grandchildren play sports and, most of all, his family.

He is survived by his wife, Annabelle; a son, Dennis Harneck of Marlette; daughters, Cheryle and Tom Putnam of Kingston and Debbie and Mark Bastian of Deford, MI.; a brother, Ivan and Iva Harneck of Marlette; a sister, Leila Scher of New Mexico; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald.

Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, MI.

A private family memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Memorials may be donated to the American Lung Association, Genesee Valley Region, 519 S. Saginaw, Suite 312, Flint, MI., 48502.
