BLANCHE EVELYN GRYMONPREZ
Blanche Evelyn Grymonprez, 84, of Pentwater, Michigan, and a former Yale resident, passed away Tuesday evening, January 22, 2002 in a Ludington hospital.
She was born on August 19, 1917 in Meade Township, Huron County, the daughter of William J. and Emeline Marie Hagle Taylor.

Her marriage to George Grymonprez was December 24, 1937 in Yale, He preceded her in death on May 5, 1988.

She was a nurse at Yale Community Hospital for 20 years and was employed by Yale Public Schools as a bus driver for seven years. She was a member of Church of Christ.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Edwin and Betty Gerlach of Sandusky and George and Kelly Grymonprez of Marlette; daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Lyle Foster of Kingston and Barbara Braford of Pentwater; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 28, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale with Eric Foster of the Marlette Community in Christ Church officiating. Interment was in Elmwood cemetery, Yale.

KATHRYN J. KAYS
Kathryn J. Kays, a life long resident of Tacoma, Washington, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 24, 2002.
She was born February 1, 1922, the daughter of the late Georgia (Murphy) and Peter Hallmeyer.

She married Elmo Kays on May 1st, with whom she celebrated 53 years of marriage.

She was an active member of the Lakeview Congregational Church in Lakeview, Washington.

Survivors include three daughters, two of Tacoma, Washington, a son of Portland, Oregon and a daughter Janet (Jim) Cook of Marlette; four granddaughters, one of Tacoma, Washington, one of Tortola BVI, and Kathyrn and Kelly Cook of Marlette; three grandsons, two of Portland, Oregon, and Aaron Cook of Marlette; and one great-granddaughter of Tacoma, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two younger sisters and her parents.

Funeral services are to be held at Mountainview cemetery, Tacoma, Washington on what would have been her 80th birthday.

JOSEPH PETER MARTIN, JR.
Joseph Peter Martin, Jr., 74, of Capac, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at Mercy Hospital, Port Huron.
He was born on April 26, 1927 in Madisonville, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Martin.

His marriage to Kathryn Engel was on August 17, 1953 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She preceded him in death on October 28, 1980.

He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1952 as a sergeant while stationed in Germany with the 5th Army Division. He was an inspector at Saginaw Steering Gear for 20 years until his retirement in 1990 and had farmed in Marlette for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing and golf and R.V. camping with the Good Sam's Club.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and John Griggs of Capac and Monica and Robert Bell of Riley Center; four grandchildren, William and Jason Wixon, Kathryn Bell and Bridgette McCoy; a brother, Robert; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy McCoy in 1992.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, January 25, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac with Rev. Eric Kilmer of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marlette, officiating.

MARGARET JENNY PERRY
Margaret Jenny Perry, 75, of Marlette, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2002 at her home in Marlette.
She was born on May 19, 1926 in Alpena, Michigan the daughter of the late Anthony and Angeline Gozdur.

She moved to this area in 1972 from California.

She married Lee G. Perry on December 11, 1976 in Sandusky.

She was a member of the Marlette Apostolic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Lee; three sons, George Packard of California, Marvin Packard of Carsonville and Robert and Halen Packard of Cass City; six daughters, Lorraine and Louis Garza of Texas, Henrietta Nelson of Sandusky, Gloria and Larry Hall of California, Marilyn Flores of California, Mary and Donald Mills of California and Shirley and Thomas Hackel of Marlette; 20 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Sandusky with Rev. Mary Dupre officiating. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery, Sandusky.

Memorials may be made to the family.

JOSEPH E. AUSTIN JR.
Joseph E. Austin, Jr. 54, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2002 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
He had lived in Marlette for the past five years and was previously from the Brighton, MI. area

He was born on September 3, 1947 in Bluefield, West Virginia, son of the late Joseph E. Sr. and Hester (Saunders) Austin.

He graduated from Garden City High School in 1965, received his bachelor's degree from W.S.U., and got his masters degree in business administration from C.M.U.

He married Susan Armstrong on July 15, 1967 in Farmington, MI.

He worked for the Ford Motor Company in Detroit Parts for 31 years until his retirement.

He was a member of the Marlette First United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed collecting stamps, fishing, golfing and fixing things and most of all his family.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; a son, Joseph (Kery) Austin III of Longwood, FL.; a daughter, Lori (David) Angliss of Redford, MI.; brothers, Floyd (Judy) Millard of Whittemore Lake, MI. and J.B. (Debbie) Millard of TN.; sisters, Eleanore (Burman) Christian of Edenton, NC. Mary (Archie) Richardson of Hurricane Mills, TN. Florence (Maurice) Anderson of TN. and Judy (Kenny) Kuczynski of Garden City, MI.; seven grandchildren, Joseph IV, Alexandria, Elizabeth, Chase, Rebecca, Parker and Christopher.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marlette First United Methodist Church with Pastor Daniel Bowman and Pastor Mark Nieman officiating. Burial was in the Marlette cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette.

LOUIS E. MILLER
Louis E. Miller, 81, of Elmer Twp., Sandusky, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at his home in Sandusky.
He was born on October 20, 1920 in Elpaso, Illinois, the son of the late James and Lucille (Fornoff) Miller.

He married Margaret Burger on November 20, 1943 in Elmer Twp., Sandusky.

He moved to the area 11 years ago from Ferndale, MI. He was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marlette.

Survivors include his wife Margaret (Nee Burger) Miller; four daughters, Judith and Ronald Fife of Royal Oak, MI., Elizabeth Griffin of Alanson, MI., Cathleen and Charles Pullum of Birmingham, MI. and Susan and Michael Golinske of Farmington Hills, MI; two brothers, Kenneth Miller of Florida and Ronald and Beverly Miller of Columbiaville, MI.; five grandchildren, Steven, Daniel, Lauren, Rebecca and Thomas; and four great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Brendin, Gabrielle and Connor.

He was preceded in death by a son, William Louis on February 28, 1945 and brothers, Harold, Lawrence and Max.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, January 18, 2002 at 12:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marlette with Rev. Eric Kilmer officiating. Interment was in Hyslop cemetery, Elmer Township, Sandusky.

Casketbearers were Steven Fife, Daniel Fife, Thomas Griffin, Michael Golinske, Charles Pullum and Ronald Fife.

Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church of Marlette or The Lutheran Hour.

JAY D. RANDALL
Jay D. Randall, 63, of Vassar, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2002 in his winter home in Hudson, Florida.
He was born on August 9, 1938 at home in Kingston to Leslie and Irene (Dulak) Randall.

He married Dorothy Crawford Hilborn on June 3, 1995 in Vassar.

He served in the U.S. Army in Fort Stewart, GA. as the driver for a colonel. He worked for General Dynamic as a Quality Assurance Engineer. He was the final inspector of the MIAI tanks. He was a tool and die journeyman. He spent six years in Egypt. He was a past member of the Kingston Lions Club and the past president of the Kingswood Inn in Kingston. He enjoyed and sponsored blooperball, baseball, softball and basketball teams in the Thumb area. He began an annual Father's Day tournament. He was a professional Santa Claus for many years, bringing many area families gifts and visits to help brighten their holiday.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; children, Suzanne R. (Michael) Alexis of Atlanta. GA., Jay D. Randall, Jr. of Findlay, OH.; mother of his children, Patricia Gendron Randall; step-children, Bob (Julie) Hilborn of Mayville, Debbie (Mike) Peche of Vassar, Diane (Kevin) Payne of Montrose and Jim (Shawn) Jenkins of Vassar; grandchildren, Ryan D. Randall, Matthew Alexis, Alexandria Alexis and Andrew Alexis; nine step-grandchildren; father, Leslie C. Randall of Kingston; brothers, Leslie C. (Chris) Randall Jr. of Atlanta, GA. and Kirk (Margo) Randall of Keego Harbor; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Randall and his mother, Irene.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kranz Funeral Home in Kingston with Rev. Terry Butters of the Kingston United Methodist Church officiating, Interment was in the Kingston cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Kingston High School Scholarship Fund or the Kingston Fire and Rescue.
