DABAKEY – Diane K. Dabakey, aged 69, of Grand Rapids, passed away and went to her heavenly home on Friday, December 11, 2015. Diane was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Margaret and William Dabakey Sr. She will be lovingly remembered by her lifelong companion, Robert Slabbekoorn, Sr.; daughters, Vickie (Kevin) Anderson, Linda (Dexter) Smith; grandchildren, Ariel, Brittney, Cassidy, and Kevin Anderson, Kaley Stiver; great grandchildren, Holden and Jack; brothers, William (Suanne) Dabakey Jr., Robert (Mary) Dabakey, Gary (Eloise) Dabakey, Scott Dabakey; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 11 am to 1 pm Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE. In accordance with Diane’s wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Diane may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to charity of your choice.

Marie (Nagel) VanderVeen, age 94, of Dorr, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward. Surviving are her daughters, Doris and Dave McGarvey, Mary and Ron Breuker, Carol and Ken Breuker, Ruth and Denny Bentley, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bern (Jean) VanderVeen, Kenneth (Marge) VanderVeen, Marian Kraima; many dear nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, December 21, at Moline Christian Reformed Church, 4341 Chappell St., with Rev. James DeZeeuw officiating. Interment in Jones Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Moline Christian School.

Norma Illene (Schulze) Fillmore

FILLMORE - Norma Illeen Fillmore, aged 83, of Grand Rapids, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 19, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; father, Earl Schulze; mother Mary Williams; brother, Roger Schulze; and sister, Winona Ulledhal. Norma had a deep faith in the Lord. She was a home day care provider for over 29 years. Surviving are her daughter, Julanne (Tom) Shepardson; grandchildren, Cody, Patricia, Michelle, Austin; and many other family and friends.

David Norman Evertsberg, age 87, of Caledonia, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, December 21, 2015. Dave was born in Angola, Africa, to William and Marguerite Evertsberg, mission educators. He moved to the U.S. when nine years old. He went to Columbia Bible College, joined the Navy serving in the Korean War, and after coming home, attended Davenport College. He worked for Lear Siegler Incorporated for 35 years as a market analyst. After retirement, he became a Biblical counselor for Crossroad Bible Institute. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna. Surviving are his children, Dr. William (Kathy) Evertsberg, Mark David (Pam) Evertsberg; his grandchildren, Michael, Taylor Evertsberg, Kendra Evertsberg; sister-in-law, Betty Folkersma; and nieces, Joy and Jeralyn. The family wishes to thank the staff at Brookcrest for the loving care they provided. Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday, December 28, at Plymouth Heights Christian Reformed Church, 1800 Plymouth Ave. SE, with Rev. Steve DeVries officiating. Interment in Blain Cemetery. Contributions given in David's honor may be made to Crossroad Bible Institute. The family will greet visitors on Sunday from 6-8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home and Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.

IMANSE - Kenneth J. Imanse, age 87, of Kentwood, was called home to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 31, 2015. Ken retired from Keeler Brass, and loved to travel and play cards with his family. His wives, Genevieve and Dorothy, preceded him in death. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Janice; his daughters, Margaret Cartwright and Karol Imanse; his step-children, Lee Schostak, Gary (Faith) Peterson, Kenneth (Tammy) Peterson; his grandchildren, Roman Cartwright, Joel Cartwright, and his great grandchild, Silas Cartwright. The funeral service will be held 12 noon Tuesday, January 5, at Grace Lutheran Church, 150 50th St. SW, with Rev. John Diener officiating. Interment in Winchester Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Faith Hospice. The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday from 1-3 and 5-7 pm at Stroo Funeral Home and Tuesday one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Marjorie Vos, age 87, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2015. Marjorie worked at Fox Jewelers for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; and a son, Ronald. Surviving are her son, James Vos (Susan); daughter-in-law, Suzanne Vos-Herin (Larry); four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 am to 12 noon followed by the service at noon at Stroo Funeral Home. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Fremont. Memorial contributions may be made to Association for the Blind.

Carol Jeannette Morton, age 65, died on Christmas Day, December 25, 2015. She was born October 2, 1950, to Leslie H. and Jeannette Marie Morton, who have preceded her in death. Surviving are her brothers and sisters, Stephen (Daisy) Morton, Patricia Sliverthorn, Sheryl (Dave) Smith, Michael Morton, Jay (Sheila) Morton; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation with Carol's family will be held Sunday, December 27, from 2 - 4 p.m. at Stroo Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Interment will be in Sand Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland.

Thomas Gerald Spaman, age 66, a child of God, was called home to his Lord and Savior on December 29, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Maxine; and his brothers, Kenneth and William. He is survived by his dearly loved wife of 42 years, Linda; his children, Holly Spaman, Timothy and Dana Spaman, Jennifer and Max McDonald; and his precious grandchildren, Gweneth, Moses, Reed, and Grace; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jane Spaman, Mary and Neil VanRegenmorter, Sally Bulthuis, George and Trudy Bulthuis, Gayle and Ron Byker; dear family friend, Jane Rademacher; along with many nieces and nephews. Tom graduated from Allegan High School and Kuyper College (RBC). He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. For 41 years he served the people of the State of Michigan, first as a Michigan State Police Trooper at the Niles and Wayland Posts, and later as a Detective Sergeant in the State Police Fire Marshal Division, retiring in 1997. He then worked for the State of Michigan Bureau of Fire Services as a fire marshal inspector, retiring in March of this year. He loved the outdoors, his family, his God, and he gave great hugs. He will be greatly missed. The funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, January 2, in Corinth Reformed Church, 129 - 100th St. SE, with Rev. James DeZeeuw officiating. Interment in Hooker Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please give donations in Tom’s memory to Degage Ministries or Project Hope in Dorr.

Tyler Androw Clifford Kroll, age 23, of Caledonia, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 21, 2015. Tyler graduated from Caledonia High School in 2011. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lester and Betty Maier, and Dorothy Perrien. He will be deeply missed by his parents, Aaron Androw Kroll (Regina) and Lynn Marie (Maier) Kroll (Rob); his siblings, Mitchell Kroll, Tess Kroll, Brittney McGuire, Ashley VanPutten, Jchon Fricke, Michael Curtiss; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A memorial service including refreshments will be held from 5 - 7 pm Tuesday, December 1, at Leighton United Methodist Church, 4180 2nd Street, Caledonia. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
