Anna S. Muccino
Anna S. Muccino, 85, of Royal Oak for 58 years, died Dec. 23, 2005 in Royal Oak. She was born Oct. 19, 1920 in Clinton, Ind. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Muccino, who died May 23, 2001 and whom she married Jan. 23, 1943 in Detroit. She is survived by children Robert (Vicky) Muccino of Warren, Edward (Nancy) Muccino of Royal Oak, Patrice (Robert) Crowell of Farmington Hills, Marc (Joanne) Muccino of Shawnee Mission, Kan., and Matthew Muccino of Chicago; 12 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Anna S. Muccino was a commercial model for Powers Modeling Co., worked for Grand Trunk Railroad as a secretary and previously worked for Briggs Co. She was also a Girl Scout leader and helped out with Boy Scouts. Funeral arrangements were handled by William Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile, Royal Oak; donations, in lieu of flowers, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Mia Beth Nowak
Mia Beth Nowak, 38, of Port Huron, formerly of Royal Oak, died Jan. 10, 2006 at her home in Port Huron. She was born Nov. 8, 1967 in Royal Oak. She is preceded in death by her father, Lewis Phillip Warriner. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Charles Nowak, whom she married Aug. 10, 2002 in Marysville, Mich.; her mother, Joyce Warriner; sister Tara (Dale) Pieron; nieces Alison and Jillian Pieron; mother-in-law Marian Nowak; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and close friends. Mia Beth Nowak graduated from Royal Oak Dondero High School in 1985. She was a member of the cross country running team while at Dondero and competed in many local races. In 2000, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of completing the Detroit Free Press marathon. She graduated from Oakland University with a bachelor's degree in nursing and worked as a registered nurse at St. John Oakland Hospital throughout her nursing career. She was the first recipient of the Spirit of Nursing award. It was at the hospital that she met her beloved husband, Charles. Funeral arrangements were handled by William Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile, Royal Oak; donations, Young Survival Coalition, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or St, John's Hospice.

Daniel Lee Shimmell
Daniel Lee Shimmell, 39, of Royal Oak, died Jan. 15, 2006 at his residence. He was born Aug. 13, 1966 in Highland Park. He is survived by his parents, Cindy Shimmell of Royal Oak and Daniel L. Shimmell of Leonard Township; grandmother Gladys Bonnier of Royal Oak; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Daniel Lee Shimmell graduated from Dondero High School in 1984 and worked at High Tech Automation. He loved to ride motorcycles. Funeral arrangements were handled by William Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile, Royal Oak.

Jerry Horace Bachynski
Jerry Horace Bachynski, 69, of Royal Oak, formerly of Wilmington, Vt., died Jan. 16, 2006 in Detroit. He was born Sept. 22, 1936 in Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Irene (Gorry) Bachynski and his brother Leonard of Troy. He is survived by his ex-wife, Mary Buckley; children Linda Roye of Washington, Mich., Michael Bachynski of Glendale, Ariz., and Diane Denda of Sunfield, Mich.; brother Raymond of Royal Oak; and seven grandchildren. Jerry Horace Bachynski served in the Michigan Army National Guard and was a scout leader. He was an avid archery sportsman, fisherman and bird enthusiast. He worked in the culinary arts and food service. Funeral arrangements were handled by William Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile, Royal Oak; donations, to the family.

Helen E. Dixon
Helen Elizabeth Dixon, 98, formerly Helen Klebba, a resident of Royal Oak, went home to the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006. Born Sept. 20, 1907 in Oak Park to Joseph and Julia Klebba. She was brought up in the Catholic faith. Helen was baptized, made her first communion (1913) and was confirmed (1917) at St. Mary Church, Royal Oak. She attended Detroit Community College after high school. From there she worked with her father, Joseph Klebba, and the city of Detroit, where he helped build the Detroit Zoological Gardens and then built Rackham Golf Course, Detroit. She later met and married Chester N. Dixon on Aug. 22, 1931. They started a family and moved to Royal Oak. Both children graduated from St. Mary and her daughter was later buried there. Helen is survived by her son Chester J. (Shirley) Dixon of Royal Oak. Grandmother of Andrea (Phil Hutchins) Dixon, Jim Dixon, Nathan Dixon, Richard (Mary) Dixon and Diane (Dr. Michael) Anderson; 18 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. She is preceded in dead by her husband, Chester N. Dixon, who died July 4, 1983; and daughter Betty Lou, who died in 1963. Funeral arrangements were handled by William Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile, Royal Oak; donations, in lieu of flowers, to William Beaumont Hospice or the American Cancer Association.

Erna Alma Knight
Erna Alma Knight, 94, of Berkley for 47 years, died Jan. 16, 2006 in Royal Oak. She was born Nov. 20, 1911 in Fraureuth, Germany. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Knight, who died in December 1981; her parents, Kurt and Alma Seifert; and her siblings, Hilde Hiller, Helmuth Seifert and Inge Blakley. She is survived by children Fred K. (Fay) Wohlfahrt of Sugar Land, Texas and Karen M. (Paul) Erslev of Crofton, Md.; and grandchildren Kristi G. Wohlfahrt and Brit K. Erslev. Erna Alma Knight immigrated to the United States of America in 1930 and became a naturalized citizen in 1939. She belonged to the Steuben Society and other German organizations. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Royal Oak for 60 years and was a member of the Shrine Ladies Bowling League, Clawson American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Slovene American Club. She was also a world traveler. Funeral arrangements were handled by William Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile, Royal Oak; donations, American Heart Association and Clawson American Legion Auxiliary.

Mary Irene Marvin
Mary Irene Marvin, 78, a lifelong resident of Royal Oak, died Jan. 22, 2006 in Royal Oak. She was born Oct. 29, 1927. She is preceded in death by her husband, Milton Marvin, who died in 1986. She is survived by children Debbie (Daniel) Taylor of Hartland, Dan (Karen) Marvin of Mt. Pleasant and Kim (fiance Kevin Ford) Petku of Clarkston; siblings Mary Alice Kage, Pierre Henri LeBlanc and Mary Margaret (Dean) Frericks; and grandchildren Kristen, Kelli, Lauren, Lindsay and Gregory. Mary Irene Marvin was an avid reader and enjoyed movies and politics. She worked at William Beaumont Hospital for 35 years as a volunteer, unit secretary and pharmacy tech. She was very sociable, loved her grandchildren, loved New York City and was a proud Royal Oaker. Funeral arrangements were handled by William Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile, Royal Oak; donations, Royal Oak Public Library or American Diabetes Association.

Anita Alice Petersen
Anita Alice Petersen, 90, of Royal Oak, died Jan. 19, 2006 in Royal Oak. She was born Oct. 9, 1915 in Detroit. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harold J. Petersen; children Janis, Larry, Lois and Nora; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were handled by William Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile, Royal Oak.

Earle K. "Kip" Sommerfield
Age 63 of Milford, died on April 17, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Charlene; children, Christopher (Beth) Sommerfield of Delaware, Jeff (Jessa) Sommerfield of PA, Jennifer (Kevin) Gehrholz of Waterford, Michelle (Matt) Tillotson of Royal Oak, Steven Sharp of Royal Oak; grandchildren, Kyle, Davis, Richard, Keegan, Molly, Connor, William, Jack; mother, Larue Sommerfield of PA; twin sister, Catherine "Kittie" Horner; sister, Doris (Ken) Lippman; sister-in-law, Diane (Joe) Schultheis and many nieces, nephews, & dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Earle. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1955 E. Commerce Rd., Milford, on Saturday, April 28th, at 1:30PM, with The Rev. Walter Dawson officiating. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, on Thursday, April 26th, 5-9PM & Friday, April 27th, 5-9PM. Memorials may be made in his name to PanCAN for pancreatic cancer research.

Virginia B. Stolz
Age 91, a lifetime resident of Milford, died April 19, 2007. Preceded in death by her husband Howard A. Stolz, Sr. and her granddaughter, Tracy. survived by her beloved children, Howard A. (Barbara) Stolz, Jr., Karen Ann (Gary) McKay, Jay Thomas (Katherine) Stolz, Douglas G. (Tonya) Stolz; grandchildren, Mark (Teresa) Stolz, Michelle (Rick) Mirecki, Scott (Heather Phillips) Powers, Stefanie (Ronnie) Carr, Matthew (Anne) Stolz; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Sarah, Kaitlyn, Ronnie and Sutton. Also many extended family members, dear friends and neighbors.

Wallace F. White
Age 61 of Novi passed away Saturday, April 14, 2007 from lung cancer. He was a U.S. Army veteran. survived by son Stephen, daughters Kimberly and Magnum, 5 grandchildren, brothers Paul, William, Lenn (Kris) and sisters Eva and Wanda (Bud). Cremation has taken place.

Albert Lee, Jr.
Age 75, passed away April 21, 2007. A Memorial Service will be held on Sat., April 28 at 11 a.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 10774 Nine Mile Rd. Whitmore Lake. Phillips Funeral Home, South Lyon.

Marion Frank Pajas
Age 92, of Cumming, GA and West Bloomfield, MI, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at his residence. A native of Michigan, he had resided in Cumming for the past five years with his daughter. He worked for 53 years for the Ford Motor Company as an Automotive Analyst. Mr. Pajas was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Malay Pajas in 1999. He is survived by daughters Pamela (David) Burke of West Bloomfield, MI and Marian Janet Cook of Cumming; grandchildren Amy Pajas, Christopher (Paula) Cook, David Burke, Christine Burke & Rene Renteria, Michael (Cherie) Burke, Steven (Atsuko) Burke; and great-grandchildren Chase Cook, Lauren Cook, Matthew Pajas, Rachel Renteria and Alexander Renteria. James P. Gross
Northville, MI. Age 73, died April 18, 2007 at his home. He was born October 8, 1933 in Jackson, KY the son of Arthur and Nancy (Allen) Gross. On November 1, 1957 in Hamburg, MI Jim married Patricia Hollis, she preceded him in death on June 28, 2001. Survivors include her son Timothy (Judy) Gross of Northville Twp., his daughter in law Shree Gross of Northville, grandchildren, Jason Coleman, Amber (Clayton) Taylor, Kristy, Tara, Brandon and Nicole Gross, great grandchild Madison Taylor and sister Lois (Henry) Deaton of IN. His son Gerry precedes him in death. A Healing Farewell was held on April 23, 2007 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel with Rev. Carl F. Welser officiating. Burial will be in Hamburg cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. James W. Lodwick
Whitmore Lake, MI.
1922 ~ 2010
Age 87, passed away on February 25, 2010. James was born on September 3, 1922 in Cincinnati, Ohio to John and Myra Lodwick. James was preceded in death by his wife Betty lou Lodwick. On May 17, 1986 James married his loving wife Nancy whom he re-met at their 45 year high school reunion. James served our country in the Army until his discharge in 1946. He belonged to Wesley United Methodist Church, Kiwanis of Whitmore Lake, an d National Honors Society of Pershing Rifles. Jim worked as an optical engineer beginning his career with Argus Camera in Ann Arbor.

Surviving Jim is his wife Nancy of Whitmore Lake, sons; Richard (Sharon) Lodwick of CO, Peter Lodwick of Flushing, Jay (Nancy) Lodwick of Novi, 4 Step Children; Patricia (Charles) Sillivan of AL, Thomas McGuire of OH, Richard McGuire of Whitmore Lake and Carrie (Mark) Antosz of MD. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Also preceded by his sister, Dorothy Langhorst.

A Simple Farewell will be held
11:00AM, on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Wesley United Methodist Church. Memorial Contributions are suggested to Whitmore Lake Kiwanis. Envelopes will be available at the church.
