Elizabeth Ann Toole, 68, of Attica, died Monday (Dec. 10, 2001).

She was born April 10, 1933, in Ann Arbor, to Arnault and Phyllis (Boshaw) Hoisington. She married Raymond Toole in Flint on July 9, 1959.

She was a graduate of Lapeer High School, class of 1950. She had been employed as a Clothing Supply Clerk at Oakdale for 32 years before retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Lapeer.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond of Attica; daughters, LeRae (Fred) Mainville of Lapeer, Phyllis of Attica; son, Jeffery (Susan) of Imlay City; grandchildren, Jeffery Jr., Elizabeth, Rachel and Keith; step-grandchildren, Laura and Rene; great-grandchild, Kierra; sister, Gloria (Richard) Howe of Almont; special friend, Lela Green of Port Huron.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnault and Phyllis Hoisington; and son, Charles.

Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday (Dec. 12, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday (Dec. 13, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. Rev. Paul Parker will officiate. Burial will be in the Attica Township cemetery, Attica.

Allan Duane Spalding
Died: Sunday, December 09, 2001
Age: 56

Linden

Allan Duane Spalding, 56, of Linden, died Dec. 9, 2001 in Holt.

He was born Nov. 23, 1945, in Almont, to Claude and Louise (Aldrich) Spalding.

Allan graduated in 1963 from Almont High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Lansing for 27 years. He was a member of the Aquarium Society of the Detroit Belle Isle Zoo. He enjoyed traveling and gardening.

He is survived by his mother, Louise of Almont; brothers, Douglas (Ann) of Linden, Stephen (Cindy) of Mancelona, Roger (Cathy) of Monroe; sisters, Kathleen (Steven) Dosh of Gladstone, Annette (Lawrence) Perrin of Romeo; 15 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Claude in 1999.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mauritz B. Massie

Age: 82

Allenton

Mauritz B. Massie, 82, of Allenton, died Sunday (Dec. 9, 2001).

He was born May 5, 1919 to James and Ingrid (Bergeson) Massie. He married Marjorie (Kersten) McLaren in Capac on March 20, 1976.

He was a graduate of Almont High School and attended Michigan State University for agriculture. He had worked at Hurd Lock in Almont and the Tank Plant in Warren as well as farming all of his life in Berlin Twp. He attended West Berlin Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; children, Maureen (Al) Hollenbeck of Imlay City, Elaine (Norman) Bandemer of Ada, Karen (Steven) Glombowski of Allenton and David (Elayne) of Allenton; step-children, Mary (Wynn) Klug of Capac, Larry (Denise) McLaren of Port Huron and Gary (Diane) McLaren of Birch Run; grandchildren, Alana (Keith) Brocker, Melisa (Jeff) Clatterbaugh, James Glombowski, Jeff Glombowski, Norman Bandemer II, Marisa Bandemer, Aaron and Jared; 10 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Curtiss of Gobels; nephew, James; 1 great-nephew and 2 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Violet Mary Massie and his brother, Arnold.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday (Dec. 12, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Almont. Rev. Ralph Barteld of the West Berlin United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in West Berlin cemetery.

Herman Baltes
Died: Sunday, December 09, 2001
Age: 80

Ohio

Herman Baltes, 80, of Versailles, Ohio, died Sunday (Dec. 9, 2001) at Wayne Hospital in Greenville, Ohio.

He was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Drake County, Ohio, to Clem and Rose (Saintgnon) Baltes. He married Rosetta (Gepfrey) Baltes in Russia on Aug. 2, 1941.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a retired farmer and was a Versailles school bus driver for 17 years. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Frenchtown, Holy Name Sodality of Holy Family Catholic Church, Osgood American Legion, The Varsailles Knights of Columbus where he was Past Grand Knight and the Versailles Fraternal Order of Eagles where he was a charter member.

He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Michael) Hampton of Grand Rapids, Betty Baltes-Spring (Duane) Spring of Dublin, Ohio; grandson, Aaron Hampton of Grand Rapids; special friend, Rita Glick of Webster Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosetta (Gepfrey) Baltes; and grandson Michael Hampton II.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday (Dec. 12, 2001) at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio.

A funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday (Dec. 13, 2001) at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versaillas, Ohio. Rev. Fr. David Vincent will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Family Catholic Church cemetery, Frenchtown, Ohio, with full Military Honors.

James William Frantz
Died: Saturday, December 08, 2001
Age: 83

Imlay City

James William Frantz, 83, of Imlay City, died Dec. 8, 2001 at Lapeer Regional Hospital.

He was born Feb. 13, 1918, in Capac, to Jesse James and Etta (Hill) Frantz. He married Onillee Ruth Speckman in Flint on Sept. 9, 1936.

He owned Frantz Agri-Lime Business for 25 years and worked as a dairy farmer. He was a member of Attica Baptist Church, Attica/Imlay City F. & A.M. Lodge and the Imlay City Order of Eastern Star #252.

He is survived by his wife, Onillee of Imlay City; daughters, Florajean Langley of Imlay City; Ginger (Doug) Miller of Imlay City; sons, James (Karen) of Ortonville and Orill (Linda) of Bozeman, Mont.; brother, Carl (Virginia) of Capac; sisters, Joyce Dennis of Imlay City and Jessie Williams of Orange Park, Fla; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie James and Etta Hill Frantz; sister, Hazel; son-in-law, John Langley.

Funeral services were held Tuesday (Dec. 11, 2001) at First Baptist Church of Attica. Pastor Carl Meier officiated. Burial was in Imlay Township cemetery, Imlay City.

Floyd Joseph Dorsten
Died: Saturday, December 08, 2001
Age: 85

Lapeer

Floyd Joseph Dorsten, 85, of Lapeer (formerly of Dayton, Ohio), died Dec. 8, 2001.

He was born May 27, 1916, in St. Henry, Ohio, to Albert and Regina (Rentz) Dorsten. He married Elaine H. Wilson in Dayton, Ohio on Oct. 16, 1940.

Mr. Dorsten served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked 37 years for the Defense Contract Administration for the U.S. Air Force in Dayton, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Waterford; children, Dr. Joseph Dorsten of New York, N.Y. and Dr. Janice Dorsten of Waterford; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; sisters, Margie O'Toole and Mary Ann FullenKamp.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Regina Dorsten; 1 brother and 5 sisters.

Funeral services were held Wednesday (Dec. 12, 2001) at Geisen Funeral Home, Merrillville, Ind. Father Andrew officiated. Burial was in Calumet cemetery, Ind.

Delores D. Stroup
Died: Saturday, December 08, 2001
Age: 59

Lapeer

Delores D. Stroup, 59, of Lapeer (formerly of Davison), died Saturday (Dec. 8, 2001).

She was born April 10, 1942, in Otistville, to Earl and Stella (Atkins) Davis. She married William G. Stroup on Sept. 21, 1962.

Mrs. Stroup was a member of a cancer support group, which was very special to her. She worked as a sales clerk in the deli department at Meijers. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend.

She is survived by her husband, William of Lapeer; children, Kevin (Carrie) of Capac, Chris of Lapeer, Gene (Sandy) of Vassar, Robin (Betty) of Attica, Linda (Rob) Thompson of Columbiaville; 20 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lester (Janet) Davis of Otter Lake, Dora Jane Farrand of Genesee County, Walter (Marie) Davis of Grand Rapids; also many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant sister.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services were held Tuesday (Dec. 11, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Pastor Peter DeKlerk officiated. Burial was in Crestwood cemetery, Grand Blanc.

James William Frantz, 83, of Imlay City, died Saturday (Dec. 8, 2001) at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
