CORT, ROBERT F., 79 of Venice, FL, died Friday, February 2, 2001. Mr. Cort and his identical twin, William, were born in Latrobe, PA on November 6, 1921. He had been a resident of Venice for 18 years coming from Rochester, MI. Mr. Cort was a Sales Engineer for Valenite Metals of Madison Heights, MI for 32 years before retiring in 1984. He graduated from Detroit Northwestern High School in 1939 and Hillsdale College Class of 1950 where he played on their National Championship football team. He was a member of Plantation Golf & Country Club and Venice Yacht Club. Prior to WWII, he attended Massanutten Military Academy, and during WWII he served as a bombardier with the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, June E. Cort of Venice, FL; his son, Jeffrey M. Cort of Bloomfield Hills, MI; his daughter, Debra S. Burns of Indianapolis, IN; his sisters, Eleanor Rose of West Palm Beach, FL and Janet Freude of Farmington, MI; and four grandchildren. Mr. Cort was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nell; brothers, Walter and William; and his first wife, Betty Johns Cort. Memorial services will be held Monday, February 5, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Farley Funeral Home Venice Chapel, FL. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. COWLE, WILLIAM G., Age 70, passed away Friday. Beloved brother of Harry Cowle, Patricia Gilbert, and Sandra Blaqure. Also survived by one niece and five nephews and many great nieces and nephews. GREENWOOD, LORNE G., Feb. 1, age 86, of Chelsea. Beloved husband of Vera and the late Virginia; father of Lorne (Shirley) Greenwood, Jr and Richard (Chris Adkins) Greenwood; Gloria (John) Traturyk; stepfather of Daniel (Janet) Dueweke. HARLAN, DOROTHY BELLE age 86, of Waterford, MI, died after a short illness 8:13 a.m. on January 31, 2001. Born to Mary (Swartz) and Thomas Milner on September 10, 1914 in South Bend, IN. Dorothy grew up in Buchanan and Benton Harbor, MI and was a long time resident of Dearborn, MI. She was married in 1933 to H. Mynor Harlan and was the mother of the late Janice (Ralph) Shiplett and Danford (Carol) Harlan. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Ralph (Kathy) Shiplett and Carol Harlan; grandchildren Lizbeth, Clinton, William, Alan and Dorothy Shiplett, Heidi Davis, James Danford and Thomas Harlan; siblings Mary Ann Behl, Verna (Kenny) Austin and Jerry (Lois) Coultas; 8 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy retired from her career of selling cosmetics at Crowley s in 1982, thrice holding the title of Top Salesperson in the Midwest. She was an avid bowler, a sharp dresser, loved to read and travel and was active in her seniors club. Dorothy was a member of the Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in Dearborn where her Memorial Service will be held on February 10, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be donated in her memory to her church. MAHLER, JOHN H., Age 83. Of Bloomfield Hills. Died January 18, 2001. Mr. Mahler graduated from Wayne State University and served in the Navy during World War II. His busi- ness career spanned 52 yrs. with Wolf Detroit Envelope Co., retiring as its president in 1991. Mr. Mahler was active with several local charities including the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern MI, the Capuchin Missions, Wayne State University, and Cranbrook Horizons-Upward Bound Program. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie; and survived by his wife of 58 years, Anne (Lockman); sons, Stuart (Lorry) and Hugh (Darleen); grandchildren, Timothy (Cathy), Jonathan (Chauntel), Jennifer (John) Phyle, Kevin, and Brian; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Dylan, Jackson and Nicholas, and sister Suzanne Meyer. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions can be made to the Capuchin Missions in Detroit and Covenant House of New York.
