ZALANTS, EMANUEL "MANNY" Of Metamora/Lapeer, formerly of Detroit, died April 5, 2000 after a long illness; age 83. Dear husband of Laura. Father of Denise Howard of Clarkston and Diane Reeves of NC. Grandfather of Melissa Howard of New York. Preceded in death by father, Peter Zalants and mother, Despina Malafouris. Manny was on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Restaurant Association for many years. He was one of the original investors of Pine Knob Ski Resort when it opened in the 60s. Manny also owned and ran a bar-restaurant in the 50s in Waterford called Manny s Ringside. He was the Catering Director at Ford Fairlane Country Club when it first opened in the 70s. He was also manager at the Latin Quarter in Detroit. He spent many years in management in the food industry and won many awards and achievement for his work in the field. He was held in high esteem by everyone who knew him and worked with him. He was loved by everyone, He will be missed! Funeral services were held Thursday, April 6, 2000.
