Shirley Jean Wallner, 69, artist, daughter, sister, aunt and friend of St. Paul and formerly of New Ulm, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at the Lynnhurst Care Center in St. Paul.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
She is survived by her mother, Marie Wallner, a resident of the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye; sister, Marlene Schulke of Cumming, Georgia; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Jo Wallner of Darlington, South Carolina; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Isidor Wallner on January 24, 1987; and a brother, Connie James Wallner in infancy.
Shirley Jean Wallner was born September 9, 1934, in New Ulm to Isidor V. and Marie L. (Schmitz) Wallner. She attended St. Mary's Grade School in New Ulm and was a 1952 graduate of New Ulm High School. After high school she worked for Brown and Bigelow Printing in St. Paul as an illustrator and artist for almost 20 years. She also wrote, illustrated and published her own children's books. She was an accomplished golfer, tennis player, photographer, reader and equestrian.

Gary Richard Speiss, 57, of Vancouver, Wash., and formerly of the rural St. Peter area, died June 27, 2004, at the Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 23, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet. Burial will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery rural Nicollet.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Speiss of Vancouver, Washington; daughters, Christine Stahnke of Lucama, N.C., and Shelley Speiss of Vancouver, Wash.,; sons, Richard Speiss of Vancouver, Wash., and Scott Speiss of Jordan; five grandchildren, one great-grandson; sister Joy Melvin of Mankato; and brothers, Earl Speiss of rural Nicollet and Jim Speiss of rural St. Peter.
He was born Oct. 25, 1946, in St. Peter to Laurence and Myrtle (Martin) Speiss.

Lorraine (Thoms) Thul, 84, of Sleepy Eye, died on Friday, July 16, 2004, at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Visitation will be Tuesday July 20 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye on Tuesday, July 20, at 10:30 a.m.. The Clergy will be Father Brian W. Oestreich. Interment St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
Lorraine Thul was born on April 23, 1920, in Richmond, Minn., the daughter of Edwin and Mae (Boggs) Thoms. She lived and grew up in the Richmond and Eden Valley area and attended school there. She married Al Thul in Eden Valley on June 27, 1939. They farmed near Richmond until moving to Sleepy Eye in 1948. She worked for 35 years at AJ Pietrus and Sons in Sleepy Eye and retired at the age of 65 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye and the St. Mary's CCW. Lorraine enjoyed country music, watching her beloved Minnesota Twins, playing bingo, family gatherings at the lake, being with her children and grandchildren over the holidays, especially the Christmas family get-togethers. She also enjoyed visiting with her friends and her many activities with her "Ross Park" family where she has resided for the last several years.
Lorraine died on Friday, July 16, 2004, at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato at the age of 84 years.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, JoEllen Thul of Huntsville, Ala.; four daughters, Joan and husband Jerome Schimschock of Sleepy Eye, Phyllis and husband Gary Heinrich of Woodbury, Judy and husband Curtis Olson of Ham Lake, and Diane and husband Chuck Case of Sleepy Eye; 12 grandchildren, Donald Thul Jr., Tim Thul, Susanne Dempsey, Sheila Thul, Scott Thul, Scott Schimschock, Jeff Schimschock, Lisa Sellner, Laura Sanford, Dan Olson, Steve Case, and Shanna Case, 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Gordon Thoms of Sleepy Eye; a sister, Muriel Urness of Ariz., and four sisters-in-law, Vera Thoms of Earlville, IL, Agnes Thoms of Sleepy Eye, Elma Braun of Slayton, and Arelia Grant of St. Cloud.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Al, sons, Donald and Ralph, two brothers, Jack and Russell, a sister, Charlotte and two grandchildren, Teri and Sandra.

Diane H. Brazil, 60, of Arlington, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 23, at St. Mary's Church in Arlington, with burial in St. Brendan Catholic Cemetery in Green Isle.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Thursday with a 7 p.m. parish prayer service and continues 8-10 a.m., Friday, at Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington.
She is survived by children, Jim Brazil of Green Isle, David Brazil of Belle Plaine, Teresa Zellmann of Norwood and Ben Brazil of Green Isle; four grandchildren; brother Dale Carroll of Victoria; sister Betty Barrows of Pine City.
She was born Oct. 25, 1943, in Arlington, to Michael and Ann (Jasken) Carroll.
Memorial are preferred in lieu of flowers.

NEW ULM -- Mass of Christian Burial for Bob Eichinger will be Saturday, July 24, at The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, New Ulm at 11 a.m.
Visitation with the family will begin at 9:30 a.m.. A lunch will be served at noon. Interment will be private.
Memorials preferred to The Richmond Fire Department, PO Box 628, Richmond, MN 56368, or to The American Cancer Society, ATTN: Web PO Box 102454, Atlanta, GA., 30368-2454.

Stanley Goettl, 72, of New Auburn, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Arlington with burial in High Island Cemetery, New Auburn.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of New Auburn; four sons, Peter of Glencoe, Edward, Charles and Theodore of New Auburn; five daughters, Clarine Stepien, Evon Schwarze, Debra Houghton and Janette of Glencoe and Rosalyn Quast of Gaylord; a brother, Don of Mankato; 23 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was born May 14, 1932 in Mankato to Edward and Clara (Halter) Goettl. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.

Anna Raddatz, 94, of Clements, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 23, at First Evangelical Christian Church, Clements. Burial will be in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by daughter, Ann Louise Clements of Clements; son, Richard L. Clements of Clements; and six grandchildren.
She was born Nov. 13, 1909 in Sundown Township, Redwood County, Minnesota to Gotlieb and Anna (Schmidt) Herman.

Diane H. Brazil, 60, of Arlington, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.

James 'Jimmy' Rubischko, 68, of Gibbon died Monday, July 19, 2004 at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 26, at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-10 a.m. on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon.
James is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Bernice Rubischko of Gibbon; a son, Timothy Rubischko and his special friend, Sandi of Winthrop and their children, Jacob and Jeremy; a daughter, Linda Banks and her fiance, Leo Barkhouse of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada; a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Laura Rubischko of Goodridge and children, Joseph, Andrew and Sarah, Otto; a son, Allen and special friend, Barb of Gibbon and children, Erin, Sharon, Amanda; and great-granddaughter, Emily Joy; a daughter, Mary Dallmann and her special friend, Daniel Breitbarth of New Ulm and children, James II and William Jr.; sisters, Margaret Gostonczik of Springfield, and Lois Siemers of New Ulm; and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
James Joseph Rubischko was born on December 19, 1935, in New Ulm to Joseph and Theresa (Jandl) Rubischko. He attended country school until the eighth grade. On June 19, 1957, he married Bernice Kubesh at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. He worked at Green Giant in Glencoe for twenty-five years and spent his life working with his wife, farming and gardening. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and driving around to visit friends and family. He was a member of the St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon all of his life.

Gertrude 'Trudy' White, 93, of 715 S. German St., New Ulm, died Friday, July 23, 2004 at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Rev. Grant Bode officiating.
Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Green Isle.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, and 7 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Gertrude Bruesehoff, the daughter of August and Anna (Masemann) Bruesehoff, was born June 24, 1911 at Hamburg, MN where she spent her youth and attended school. Trudy moved to St. Paul in 1929, working at the University of Minnesota. She married Arthur White in 1942 in Green Isle.
The family lived in Green Isle, where she was a homemaker and raised her sons. Trudy moved to New Ulm in 1994.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
Survivors include her sons, Daniel (Dorothy) White of Shakopee, Charles (Jean) White of Green Isle; three grandchildren; niece, Joni (Ron) Mehlhop; great niece, Pam (Alison) Klossner; and great nephew, Pat Mehlhop, all of New Ulm. In addition to her parents and husband, Trudy was preceded in death by her sister Adela Wallow.

Wanita Krohn, 78, of Courtland, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at her home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 29, at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday.
Wanita is survived by her husband, Walter A. Krohn of Courtland; daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and John Rist of Courtland and Nancy and Gary Gatchell of Cushing; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jane Krohn of Arlington, Donald and Teresa Krohn of Courtland, and James Krohn of Courtland; eleven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Vivian Krohn of Nicollet; a sister-in-law, Leona Burnett of North Mankato; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Ruth Burnett of North Mankato; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marlen and Darlane Krohn of New Ulm, Eleanor Krohn of Rochester, Ruby Krohn of Nicollet; and by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roger and Raymond Burnett; sisters, Viola Campbell and Gladys Fredrickson; and by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Wanita was born on November 24, 1925, in Belgrade Township, Nicollet County, to Harry and Anna (Borchardt) Burnett.
She graduated from Mankato High School in 1945. On February 15, 1946, she married Walter A. Krohn at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet.
After marriage, they farmed in rural Courtland where she was a wife, mother, and housewife all of her life. Wanita enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a volunteer at Trinity Lutheran School in Nicollet helping children learn to read.
She was a member of Nicollet American Legion Auxiliary, Nicollet Senior Citizens Group, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies Guild.
The family prefers memorials to Alzheimer's Association.
