Gertrude Austin

Services for Gertrude "Trudi" T. Austin, 70, of Crystal, were Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Brooklyn Park, with burial was in the church cemetery.

She died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, in Champlin. Mrs. Austin was born Feb. 25, 1931, in Salzburg, Austria.

She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin and children, Melvin Jr., Julie and Jody.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Tammy of Crystal; daughter-in-law Laurie Austin of Champlin; grandchildren, Kelly, Karie, Mike, Joe and Tom and many special friends.

Vivien Stebbins Baldwin

Vivien Stebbins Baldwin, 89, of Colts Neck, N.J, formerly of Delano and New Lebanon, N.Y., died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002.

She graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis in 1930 and received a BS and MS from the University of Minnesota. She was a teacher of science and math and a librarian at Delano High School for 22 years. She volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program in Delano and had initiated the program in New Lebanon. She was a member of Greater Federation of Womens Clubs in Delano and New Lebanon. She was also an active volunteer in the New Lebanon library.

She was preceded in death by husband, Wilbur A. Baldwin in 1997 and sons, Allen in 1998 and David in 1999. She is survived by sons, Bruce of New Lebanon and Robert of Chicago; daughter, Joyce Howe of Colts Neck; daughters-in-law, Ella Baldwin Viereck and Jeannine Tonetti; son-in-law, Ed Howe; 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Delano Senior Center, 205 Bridge Ave., Delano, MN, 55328.

Lois Bertram

Services for Lois Bertram, 81, of Monticello, were Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, with burial in Elmhurst Cemetery.

Mrs. Bertram died at home Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002.

She is survived by her son, Tom (Kim) of Rochester; daughters, Sandy Bertram and Julie Wood of St. Francis, Jan (Greg) Gramith of Champlin, Sue (Matt) Kugler of Alexandria; grandchildren, Eric and Jacob Bertram, Jenny Gramith, Brad Kugler and Meg (Shayne) Simon; brother, Jerome Lyden of Roseville; and her sister, Evelyn (Dave) Lavrinets of Oswego, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; and her grandsons, Mike Kugler and Christopher Bertram.

Memorials are preferred to the Mike Kugler Scholarship Fund, PO Box 282, Alexandria, MN 56308.

Mary Ann Brockhoff

Services for Mary Ann (Buvick) Brockhoff, 77, of Champlin, were Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at Advent Lutheran Church in Maple Grove.

She is survived by son, Bruce; daughter, Jan (Mark); grandchildren, Donny, Krista (Jon), Katie, Kayla; her faithful pal, Dusty; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Brockhoff was preceded in death by husband, Donald; parents, Ole and Anna; two brothers; and six sisters, two of them triplets who brought her much love.

Thanks to hospice nurses, Mary and Karen. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Advent Lutheran, or North Memorial Hospice.

Josef Burger

Services for Josef Burger, 66, of Loretto were Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Rettinger Funeral Home, Long Lake

Mr. Burger was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Johann. He is survived by loving wife Monika; sons Eddie (Angie) and Randy (fiancé Anna); grandson Brock; brothers, Mathias (Frieda), Waldemar (Carolyn), and Alex (Nancy); sister-in-law Donna Burger; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Memorials will be directed by the family.

Raymond Coles

Services for Raymond E. Coles, 77, of Maple Grove were Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9100 93rd Ave. N., Brooklyn Park.

Burial was in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Mr. Coles died Sunday, Feb. 10, in Robbinsdale. He was born Nov. 26, 1924, in Minneapolis.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, The Packard Club, Crystal VFW. He was also a U.S. World War II Veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Florentine; children Gerald (Kitty) of Franklin, Thomas of Champlin, Diane (Paul) Degel of Champlin; James (Diane) of St. Michael, Richard (Sue) of Maple Grove, Bill (Jeanne) of Bloomington, Steve (Pat) of Bloomington, Raymond (Jenny) of Robbinsdale, Jeffrey of Minneapolis and Patrick (Julie) of Maple Grove; brothers, Robert of Fridley and Ted of Brooklyn Center; sister, Karen Wittkraf of Gibbon; 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Lorraine Dahlheimer

Services for Lorraine G. Dahlheimer, 79, of Champlin were Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home in Anoka, with burial in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

She is survived by husband, Maurice; son, Tom (Sherry) of Florida; daughter, Jerrilynn (Roger) Reini of Anoka; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ronald Demarest-Bryan

Services for Ronald Demarest-Bryan, 46, of Maple Grove and Washburn Lake in Outing, were Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at the Gearhart Coon Rapids Chapel.

Burial was in Morningside Memorial Gardens, 11800 University Ave. N.W., Coon Rapids.

He died Tuesday, Feb. 5, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Survivors include his wife and soulmate, Dale Demarest-Bryan; son, Jason; stepdaughter, Lauren (Brent) Kastner; stepson, Kevin (Jennifer) LaFond; grandson, Finnegan; parents, Don and Donna Bryan of Coon Rapids; sister, Carol (Ken) Keuppers; other family members and many close friends. He was a member of Union IBEW 292, Minneapolis, and an avid lover of nature and music.

Memorials preferred to North Memorial Medical Center Hospice and Washburn Lake Association.

Olive Dorr

Services for Olive E. (Ollie) Dorr, 87, of Osseo were Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Osseo United Methodist Church, 16 Second St. S.E. Osseo.

Burial was at American Cemetery.

Mrs. Dorr was a member of Osseo United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter.

Survivors include her sister, Evelyn Hartkopf of Osseo; nephew, James (Myrtle) Hartkopf of Clear Lake; niece, Ardelle Cotis of Plymouth and many other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be given to the Ollie Dorr Memorial Fund.

Inez Anita Erickson

Services for Inez Erickson, 82, of Maple Grove were Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Advent Lutheran Church, 9475 Jefferson Hwy., Maple Grove.

Interment services were Tuesday, Feb. 19, at noon at Park Hill Cemetery, Duluth.

Mrs. Erickson died Thursday, Feb. 15, at North Memorial Medical Center. She was born March 4, 1919, in Dalton.

She lived her entire life in Minnesota, including her childhood and young adult years in Borup, 40 years in the Duluth area and the last 13 years in Maple Grove.

An active member of her community, she was a 4-H leader in Norman County, served in churches of all three communities she lived in, led many efforts to benefit people with handicaps, including serving 12 years as executive director of Duluth Chapter of Minnesota Epilepsy League, acting as an advocate for state-level legislation to benefit the handicapped. She served on the Minnesota Governor's Advisory Task Force on Epilepsy in 1981. In 1986, she received the Developmental Disabilities Volunteer Recognition Award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration. In 1989 she was elected Port Cities' Women of the Year in Duluth.

Mrs. Erickson was preceded in death by her parents, Hulda Hanson Hedlund and Alex Hedlund.

Survivors include her husband Erick (Rusty) Erickson; sisters, Eleanor (Hartzell) Barnes of Borup and Adeline (Douglas) Freutel of Turlock, Calif.; seven children, Marlowe (Carole) Teig, Janice (Lynn) Rogers, Ramona Wheeler, Julius (Sharon) Teig, Pamela French, Julie (Richard) Roberts and Heidi (Mark) Gemlo; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to Advent Lutheran Church or World Mission Prayer League.

Luella Felix

Services for Luella M. Felix, 94, of Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River and formerly of Anoka, were Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Anoka, with burial in Champlin Cemetery.

Mrs. Felix died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Guardian Angels Care Center. She was born May 15, 1907, in Minneapolis to John Clancy and Mabel (McGrath).

Mrs. Felix is survived by husband, David M. Felix; daughter, Beverly (John) Perrin; son, Danna (Wallie) Felix; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; brother, Patrick Clancy; and sister-in-law, Genny Clancy.

Gerald Gilbertson

Services for Gerald M. Gilbertson, 79, of Brooklyn Center were Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Center, with burial in Fort Snelling.

He is survived by wife, Norma; sons, Mark (Judy) of St. Louis, Paul (Patty) of Champlin, Steve of Minneapolis, and John (Ginger) of Big Lake; daughters, Rebecca of California and Ruth (Brian) Brateng of Maple Grove; nine grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Marion Gilbertson of St. Paul.

Mr. Gilbertson was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Melvin and Herbert; twin sister, Geraldine Anderson; and infant granddaughter, Kelly Marie.

Richard Hay

Memorial services for Richard C. Hay, 46, of Brooklyn Park were Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at First Lutheran Church, Brainerd.

Mr. Hay died suddenly Saturday, Feb. 9. He was a wonderful son and brother. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father Alfred Hay and stepfather Wallace (Bud) Fredstrom.

Survivors include his mother, Marilyn Fredstrom of Baxter; brothers, Jim of Brooklyn Park, John of Wisconsin Rapids, and Rob of Maple Grove; sister, Laurie Boros of Baxter and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials to the church or donor's choice.

Jay Lawrence

Memorial services for Jay E. Lawrence, 37, of New Hope will be Wednesday (today) Feb. 20, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, 34 Second St. N.E., Osseo.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services.

Survivors include his parents, Jean and John of Osseo; and brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Kris Lawrence of Coon Rapids.

Memorials may be given to North Hospice.

Oliver Howard Lindholm

Services for Oliver Howard Lindholm, 84, formerly of Spicer and Delano, were Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baxter.

Rev. Arthur Frenz officiated.

Mr. Lindholm died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at the Woodland Good Samaritan Village Nursing Home. He was born May 14, 1917, in Spicer, the son of John Enoch and Alice (Johnson) Lindholm. He grew up in Spicer, attending elementary school there and attending high school in Willmar. He worked for the Delano Motor Co. in Delano until 1942 when he entered the military service. He served in the Medical Corps and the U.S. Army Band in Arkansas and Texas until his discharge in 1945.

He worked for the Delano Granite Works as a sales processor for 29 years and then worked for Takor Plastics for five years before retiring in 1979. He spent his retirement years on his lake property on Agate Lake in Lakeshore, Minn., a place affectionately called "Our Blessed Retreat." On Aug. 1, 2001, he moved to an apartment at Woodland Good Samaritan Village. Due to declining health, he moved to the Woodland Good Samaritan Nursing Home Jan. 18, 2002.

Mr. Lindholm was married to Leahnette Anna Johnson on June 13, 1942, in Delano. They enjoyed nearly 60 years of marital happiness. The couple had three children.

Mr. Lindholm had an outstanding Christian faith and lived his faith through his interest in other people, especially children, his gentle kindness and his very active church involvement. He was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Delano for many years and served as Sunday school superintendent for more than 25 years. He was also on the board of education when Mt. Olive Lutheran School was opened. For the past 22 years, he was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baxter and served as Elder and Christian Education Committee member. He also sang in the choir and helped work on the new church building. Mr. Lindholm enjoyed fishing, swimming, hiking, cross-country skiing and playing games. He enjoyed traveling to scenic spots, especially to the North Shore of Lake Superior.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by wife, Leahnette of Brainerd; sons, Oliver (Betty) Lindholm, Jr. of Winona and Joel (Dawn) Lindholm of Delano; daughter, Judith (Donald) Gurgel of Appleton, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and sisters, Betty (Harold) Bernice Ruud and Arlene Lindholm, both of St. Paul.

David Mahood

Services for David Edward Mahood, 51, of Loretto were Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at 7 p.m. at Brooklyn Park Chapel.

Mr. Mahood died Sunday, Feb. 3.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Joseph Mahood.

Survivors include his wife, Bette; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carole and Doug, Margaret and Doug; brother, Ken; his "special sister," Renee; and many many loving friends.
