Kathy Lee Gaudette

A memorial service for Kathy Lee (Bystedt) Gaudette, 63, of Minnetonka was Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Advent Lutheran Church in Maple Grove.

She passed away Monday, July 12, 2004.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Peter; sister, Patricia Roggeman; children Dawn and Gene Olchefske, Dan and Linda Gaudette, Jill and Scott Hamlett, Joe Gaudette and Lynette King; and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Gaudette is preceded in death by her parents, Elsen and Carol Bystedt.

Memorials are preferred in her name to Advent Lutheran Church Stephen Ministry program.

Harvey Dick

Services for F. Harvey Dick, 74, of St. Michael, were Thursday, July 8, 2004, at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael.

Rev. Michael Becker was the Celebrant.

Casket bearers were Brandon Dick, Cory Kirk, Eric Dick, Gary Dick, Becky Kirk, Nikki Kirk, Kelly McClendon and Tyler Herzog.

Mr. Dick died Monday, July 5, at his residence.

He was born July 18, 1929, in St. Michael the son of Walter G. "Wally" and Leona M. Kirscht Dick.

He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force.

On Nov. 11, 1950, F. Harvey Dick and Luella T. Kasper were joined in holy marriage at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael. God blessed their marriage with six children.

Mr. Dick was formerly employed as an over the road truck driver in Beer Distribution for more than 20 years. He logged over three million miles.

He was a faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael. He also belonged to the American Legion Post #567.

Mr. Dick is survived by loving wife, Luella T. Dick; children, James (Lisa) Dick of St. Michael, Jean (William) Herzog of Elk River, Ronald (Joan) Dick of Monticello, Randy Dick, Edward Dick and Douglas (Kris) Dick all of St. Michael; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Mae (Melvin) Daleiden of St. Michael; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rosetta (Fritz) Swanberg, LaVarne (Merle) Dahlheimer, Esther (Lowell) Berning, Alice Eicher and Lenore (Howard) Eicher; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by father, Walter G. "Wally" Dick in 1981; mother, Leona M. Dick in 1995; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alois and Ottilia Kasper; and brothers-in-law, Lloyd "Buddy" Kasper and Alvin Eicher.

Gerald J. Simon

Gerald (Jerry) Joseph Simon, 74, formerly of Blaine died peacefully in his sleep at his home in McGregor on Monday afternoon, July 5, 2004.

Memorial services were held Friday, July 9, 2004, at Holy Family Catholic Church in McGregor.

Mr. Simon served in the Navy from 1950 to 1954. He was a lifetime member of the Krause-Harding VFW in Spring Lake Park. He also enjoyed attending his Navy reunions.

At his wife, Audrey's persistence, he decided to put his fire truck chasing to good use by joining the Blaine/Spring Lake Park/Moundsview Volunteer Fire Department. He worked his way up the ranks taking great pride in helping out this way. He even went to school for emergency medical training. He retired from the Volunteer Fire Department as the chief. He also enjoyed meeting up with his old buddies when they had reunions.

He is survived by his wife and lifetime mate, Audrey, married April 30, 1955. They raised together two daughters, Catherine Lavell and Teresa (Mark) McFetridge; and two boys, Steven (Jody) Simon and Tony (Kim) Simon. His kids provided him with six grandkids, Shantelle, Jon, Chelsea, Nicholas, Nicole and Brandon. Also three step grandchildren, Rob, Kayla and Breeanna Deyo (Kim's children).

He was also survived by his two sisters, Audrey (Earl) Taylor and Annette Gemlo; and his aunt, Eleanor; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Simon is preceded in death by his parents, Glynn and Charlotta Simon; brothers, Robert, Bernard, and Glynn Jr.; and grandson, Jon McFetridge.

John W. Plzak

John W. Plzak, 68, of Greenfield died Wednesday, June 30 after a strong battle with cancer.

Mr. Plzak was born on May 24, 1936 in Pocahontas, Iowa, the son of Frank and Frances Musil Plzak. He honorably served his country in the United States Army.

Mr. Plzak is survived by his children: Jeff (Laurie) Plzak, of Loretto; Ken (Elizabeth) Plzak ,of Monticello; Melinda Luedke, of Big Lake and Melissa (Jeremy) Pittman, of Becker, as well as a step son, Todd Petron, of Greenfield. Other survivors are brother Jerry Plzak; sisters Rose Kiecker, Mary French and Annie Hacker and nine grandchildren.

His parents, Frank and Frances, and his brothers, Albert and Jim, preceded him in death.

Funeral services for John Plzak were held on Monday, July 5 at the Peterson Chapel, St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home. Pastor Robert Mortvedt officiated. Lorraine Wolf was the organist.

A private immediate family only interment with military honors was held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Kaleen Pittman, Preston Plzak and Julia Lindeke served as honorary casket bearers. Curt Plzak, Chad Plzak, Dawson Pittman, Kevin Plzak, Travis Luedke and Troy Luedke served as casket bearers.

Donald Berning

Services for Donald H. Berning, 78, of Albertville were Friday, July 2, 2004, at St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville.

Rev. Peter Richards and Rev. Jerome Hackenmueller were the Concelebrants. Interment with military rites followed at St. Albert Cemetery.

Mass servers were Jonathan Bebeau and Jack Berning.

Casket Bearers were Derek Berning, David Berning, Tom Berning, John Berning, Kevin Berning and Jacob Bebeau.

Mr. Berning died Tuesday, June 29, at Park View Care Center.

He was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Frankfort Township, Wright County the son of Hubert and Veronica Hackenmueller Berning.

Mr. Berning graduated from Elk River High School in 1943 and later honorably served his country as a member of the United States Marines during World War II.

On June 12, 1951, Donald Berning and Janet Barthel were joined in holy marriage at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael. God blessed their marriage with nine children.

He owned and operated for more than 50 years Don's Auto Service/Amoco in Albertville.

He was a faithful member of St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville, formerly served his parish as a trustee and as an officer of the St. Albert Catholic Aid Society.

Through the years, he was very active with Albertville city affairs. He served 34 years as city clerk. He formerly served on Albertville's Planning Commission and the Albertville Development Corporation.

Mr. Berning was a past Albertville Fire Chief and served 30 years on the Albertville Fire Department.

He also belonged to American Legion Post #567, Knights of Columbus Council #4174 and The Albertville Lions Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Janet (nee Barthel); children, Greg (Elaine) Berning, Gordon (Theresa) Berning, Betsy (Doug) Vetsch, Mary (Brian) Bebeau, Adrian (Renae) Berning, Suzanne Berning, Duane (Bridget) Berning, LeRoy (Nancy) Berning and Brian Berning; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Sr. Nivelle, O.S.B. and Dolores Chounard; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Veronica; sisters, Irma, Salome and Sr. Eugenia, S.Sp.S.

Linda de la Barba

Memorial services for Linda de la Barba, 62, of Maple Grove were Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Gill Brothers Funeral Chapel in New Hope.

Mrs. de la Barba died Wednesday, June 23, 2004.

She is survived by her daughters, Terri (Rich) Kemp and Lisa (Christopher) Tozer; grandchildren, Chase and Drew Tozer and Taylor Kemp; sisters, Diane (Earl) Riley and Barbara (Ladell) Ford; caring ex-husband (Lisa and Terri's father), Fernando de la Barba; and nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. de la Barba is preceded in death by her parents, Elsie and Cecil Vogelgesang.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to donor's choice.

Ernest Scurry Jr.

Services for Ernest Scurry, Jr., 75, of Dayton were Friday, June 25, 2004, at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home in Anoka.

Rev. Abe Cardosa officiated. Honorary pallbearers were L.D. Wade, Jimmy Wade, Lonnie Wade and Robert Scurry. Active pallbearers were Matthew Jackson, A.J. Bursh, Jerome Jackson, Trevor Wade, Roderick Wade and Joe Lugo.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Mr. Scurry Jr. died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center. He was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Galveston, Texas, to Ernest Sr. and Mary E. Scurry.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired supervisor for ITT.

Mr. Scurry Jr. is survived by his wife, Robbie; children, Ernest Scurry III, Shirley Elaine Scurry, Ronnie (Beverly) Gordon, Barbara Jackson, Felicia Clark, Daphne (Howard) Handy, Briana Scurry; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Elmer Hamm

Services for Elmer C. Hamm, 68, of Albertville were Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Grace Lutheran Church in McGrath.

Pastor Ronald Thomsen officiated and interment followed at Grace Lutheran Cemetery.

Honor casket bearer was Doug Smith. Casket bearers were Donald Hamm II, Bill Kump, Kenny Erickson, Doug Bassett, Derick Sonnenberg and Allen Ziefmer.

Mr. Hamm died Monday, June 14, 2004 at his residence. He was born Feb. 13, 1936, in McGrath, Minn., the son of Glenn and Clara Kuhlman Hamm.

On March 14, 1980, Elmer Hamm and Pauline Patricia Reynolds were joined in holy marriage in Mora. God blessed their marriage with a son.

Mr. Hamm was employed for entire life in road construction. He was a longtime member of The International Union of Operating Engineers ­ Local 49.

He is survived by loving wife, Pat Hamm; son Jay (Kari) Hamm of St. Michael; daughter, Debbie (Brad) Rowton of Winnett, Mont.; three grandsons, Neil, Raymond and Bryce; sister, Marion Erickson of Standstone; brother, Donald (Fran) Hamm of Finlayson; sister-in-law, Pat Hamm of St. Paul; father-in-law, Dick Smiley of Hinckley; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents, Glenn and Clara Hamm; brother, Harold Hamm; brother-in-law Gust Erickson; and mother-in-law Jean Reynolds Smiley.

Mildred Kramer

Services for Mildred A. Kramer, 89, originally from Corcoran, were Saturday, June 26, 2004, at the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in Corcoran.

Father George R. Kinney was the celebrant. Rollie Finke, Robin Finke, Mike Howard, Kerry Feickert, Brent Feickert and Kevin Kramer served as casket bearers.

Interment was at St. Jeanne deChantel Cemetery.

Mrs. Kramer died Wednesday June 23, 2004, at Sunrise Cottages in Buffalo. She was born on Feb. 20, 1915, in Corcoran Township, the daughter of Emil and Agnes (Podvin) Pouliot. She graduated in 1933 from Vocational High School in Minneapolis.

Mrs. Kramer and her husband John owned and operated restaurants in Aitkin, Loretto and Hanover. She worked as an accountant most of her life. After retiring, she worked in the accounting department of Tonka Toys in Mound.

She is survived by her children, Dennis Kramer of Princeton, Harriet (Willard) Finke of Carlos, and Warren (Cheri) Kramer of Frontenac; brother, Herbert (Dolores) Pouliot, of Minneapolis; sister, Sylvia Fairly of Texas; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Kramer was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Kramer; daughter, Sharleen Feickert; brother, Harvey Pouliot; grandson, Randy Finke and son in law, Ronald "Ronnie" Feickert.
