Quinlan Johnson
Funeral services for Quinlan M. Johnson, 82, Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 30 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Jim Donahue officiated.
Johnson died Jan. 26, 2003 at Camilia Rose. He was born Oct. 24, 1920 in Nevis and was a World War II B25 bomber pilot.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; daughters, Carol Meyer (best friend Mark Wold), Ellen Oliver (Bradley), Becky Helm (Gary); seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert.
Pallbearers were Dan Meyer, Chris and Tim Helm, Jason and Matt Oliver, and Roy Hoffman. Honorary pallbearer was Frank Johnson.
Interment was private at Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Ruth Kober
Funeral services for Ruth L. Kober, 90, Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 31 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Dennis L. Heiden officiated.
Kober died Jan. 25, 2003 at Mercy Hospital. She was born March 15, 1912 in Iowa to Paul Lorentzen and Anna Wahlstrom, and was a former member of Greenhaven Country Club and women's golf league.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Bernardo) Lastre of Houston, Texas, and Cheryl Esterby of Zimmerman; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Lorentzen; and sister, Betty Wellman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Kober; and son, Thomas.
Pallbearers were Mark Belisle, Bernardo Lastre, Trevor Johnson, Gilbert Esterby, Michele DePriest, and Timothy Kober.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Madalyn Kovarik
Funeral services for Madalyn Lenore Kovarik, 7, Princeton, formerly of Champlin, took place Feb. 4 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Philip Bryans officiated.
Kovarik died Feb. 1, 2003 at her home. She was born Nov. 28, 1995 in Coon Rapids to Cade D. Whittlef and JaNane M. Kovarik.
She is survived by her mother, JaNane (Erik); brother, Odin; father, Cade (Mandie) Whittlef; sister, Trinity; grandparents, Anne (Dick) Flipp, James (Judy) Kovarik, Cheryl Kovarik, John Klersy, Doug and Sharon Whittlef; great-grandmother, Darlene (Delbert) Frisk; and many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Dick Flipp, John Klersy, James Kovarik and Doug Whittlef.
Interment was at Champlin cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Genevieve Oman
Funeral services for Genevieve A. 'Gen' Oman, 56, Cedar, took place Jan. 24 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids. Rev. Joel Cycenas officiated.
Oman died Jan. 18, 2003 in Coon Rapids. She was born Aug. 26, 1946 in Oak Park, Ill., and was a secretary and careworker for battered women's shelters.
She is survived by her husband, Jerome 'Jerry' brothers and sisters, Margot Kruse (Jimmy), Dan Webb (Michelle), Terry Webb (Sharon), Mike Webb (Patty), Richard Webb (Barbara), Tom Webb; and nieces and nephews, Victoria, Joseph, David, Jane, Wesley, Joseph, Ben, Sam and Claire.
Pallbearers were Mike, Dan, Terry, Pat, Richard and Tom Webb.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Ida Schwab
Funeral services for Ida C. Schwab, 90, Ramsey, took place Feb. 6 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Rev. Dennis L. Heiden officiated.
Schwab died Feb. 2, 2003 at her home. She was born March 9, 1912 in Leola, S.D., to Herman J. and Caroline I. (Mueller) Sodman.
She is survived by her children, Donald Schwab and wife Edye, Donna Eng, Dale Schwab and wife Rae, Caroline Ackman and husband Ted, Gladys Engstrom and husband Ellsworth, LeRoy Schwab and wife Janis; 21 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; brother, Norman Sodman and wife Helen; sisters, Marcella Johnson, Margaret Hitzemen; daughter-in-law, Carol Schwab; sister-in-law, Florence Sodman; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; son, Charles H. Schwab; and brother, Paul Sodman.
Pallbearers were Herbert Meltzer, Keith Briggs, Sean, Danny, Charles Jr. and Clint Schwab, Mark Engstrom and Steve Ackman.
Interment was at Trott Brook cemetery, Ramsey. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Maynard Wahlstrom
Funeral services for Maynard E. Wahlstrom, 71, Otsego, took place Feb. 5 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock officiated.
Wahlstrom died Jan. 29, 2003 at the Mayo Clinic, Phoenix, Ariz. He was born June 3, 1931 in Mora to Oscar S. and Lillian C. (Olson) Wahlstrom, and was retired from Control Data.
He is survived by his children, Tim (Ann) Wahlstrom, Terry Wahlstrom, Nancy (Chris) Davis, Laura (Mark) Meeks, Jeff (Colleen) Anderson, Greg (Carol) Anderson; nine grandchildren; mother, Lillian Wahlstrom; siblings, Shirley Stillwell, Duane (Georgia), marion (John) Korpi, Vern (Connie), Jerry (Diane), Marlyn (Muriel), Carl (Diane), Jean (Marv) Kanannen); and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Mae; and father, Oscar.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Marlys Wolff
Funeral services for Marlys Wolff, 86, Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 31 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock officiated.
Wolff died Jan. 27, 2003 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Jan. 9, 1917 in Burns Township and was a retired cashier and meat wrapper. She volunteered at Mercy Hospital for years.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Don) Nordine, Pat (Mike) Huston, Mona Webster (Steve Krantz); sister, Lou Paulson; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Alvina Wirz; brother, Norman; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Don Nordine, Mike Huston Sr., Steve Krantz and Mark, Adam and Steve Caron.
Interment was at St. John's Lutheran Church cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Terrence Yahnke
Funeral services for Terrence A. Yahnke, 40, Dayton, took place Feb. 2 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Yahnke died Jan. 29, 2003 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Oct. 5, 1962 in Minneapolis to Eugene and Margaret Yahnke.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; brothers, Steven and Tim; sisters, Susan Yahnke and Barb Palmer; and nieces and nephews, Ryan, Michael, Chris, Rusty, Charlie and Nicole.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Michael Anderson
Memorial services for Michael John Anderson, 48, Anoka, formerly of Minneapolis, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 15), 11 a.m., at First Congregational Church of Anoka.
Anderson died Feb. 7, 2003 in Anoka. He was born May 16, 1954 and wrote for the 'Northeaster' newspaper.
He is survived by his friend, Ginny Jacobsen of Anoka; former wife, Stephanie Anderson of Northeast Minneapolis; father, John; stepmother, Joyce; mother, Vonnie; brothers, Mark (Lynette) and David (Nancy), and nieces and nephews, Benjamin, Ellen, Ruth, Amy, Joann, Dana, Sam and Christopher.
Arthur Attleson
Memorial services for Arthur H. Attleson, 82, St. Louis Park, formerly of Blaine, took place Feb. 12 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Attleson died Feb. 7, 2003 at Park Health and Rehab Center, St. Louis Park. He was a World War II Purple Heart recipient, serving with the 48th Engineers, a life member of the VFW, member of the American Legion, past member of the Coon Rapids Lions Club, and worked in real estate for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Fran; stepdaughters, Florence (Lee) Hesleskrants, Maxine (Tom) Bosley, Dagney Lingen; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tommy, Noel and Elmer; and sisters, Evelyn Halvorson, Louise Gruwe and Marie Shaw.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Conrad Barsness
Funeral services for Conrad A. Barsness, 57, Ramsey, took place Feb. 8 at Coon Rapids United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark Miller officiated.
Barsness died Feb. 3, 2003 at his home. He was born Nov. 5, 1945 in Wayne, Neb., to Kermit Barsness and Miriam Swanson, and was a retired printer.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen; daughter, Trudee Olson; grandsons, Logan and Calen Olson; brothers, Ronald (Diane), Dennis (Jene), and Kevin (Bea); sisters, Rochelle and Kris (Don) Ciano; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Brandon; and son-in-law, Kelly Olson.
Pallbearers were Greg Orvis, Harry Sundeen, Steve Hanson, Eric and Dave Olson, and Jon Krueger.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Homes, Anoka.
