Funeral service for Claramae Born, 80, Ham Lake, took place May 11 at Constance Free Church. Rev. Randy Discher officiated.

Born died May 8, 2005 at Park River Estates Care Center, Coon Rapids. She was born July 30, 1924 in Minneapolis to Hugh Adolphus and Emma Wilhemina (Brockhoff) Converse.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; children, Frank (Karol) Bentley, Nancy (Clint) Smith, Dan (Carol) Born, Steve (Kathy) Born and Jim (Wendy) Born; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Ila Parker; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Bradley Born.

Pallbearers were Brian, Tim, and Greg Born, Jeramy Smith and Derek and Mark Bentley.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Joseph Brown

Funeral service for Joseph Brown, 61, Monticello, took place May 10 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Rev. Don Schwalm officiated.

Brown died May 5, 2005 in Shakopee. He was born Jan. 2, 1944 in Long Beach, Calif., to Ambrose and Helen Brown and was truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha; children, Greg (Nicole), Torrey and Careena; four grandchildren; mother, Helene; sisters and brothers, Mary Thielen, Pauline Lovelace, David and Tom; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ambrose.

Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Joseph Flicek

Funeral service for Joseph Louis Flicek, 21, Anoka, took place May 6 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. David Blume officiated.

Flicek died May 2, 2005 at his home. He was born July 15, 1983 in Coon Rapids to Douglas Steven and Nancy Joan (Schoenborn) Flicek. He was a heating and cooling installation technician in new construction.

He is survived by his parents, Doug and Nancy; brother, Aaron; grandparents, Cyril Flicek, Walter and Mardelle Schoenborn; aunts, uncles and cousins; special friend, Natalie Held; and many other friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mavis Flicek.

Pallbearers were Chad Svenby, Dever Wollmuth, David Flicek, Nathan Maydole and Jason and Corey Dodd. Honorary pallbearer was Terry Herby.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Thorwald Johannsen

Funeral service for Thorwald Johannsen, 93, Fridley, took place May 9 at King of Glory Lutheran Church, Blaine. Rev. David Hintz officiated.

Johannsen died May 5, 2005 in Brooklyn Center. He was born Sept. 29, 1911 in Buck Grove, Iowa, to Adolf and Hanna Johannsen and was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his daughter and their spouses, Janice and T. Eugene Brunk, Carlene and Al Hoeschen, Diane and Bill DiSanto; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Adolph and Johanna Johannsen; wife, Leona; brothers, Lawrence, Donald, Marvin and Delbert; sister, Josina (Lein); and granddaughter, Stacey Marie McCloskey.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Casmir Kuczynski

Funeral service for Casmir E. Kuczynski, 84, Anoka, took place May 11 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Kuczynski died May 6, 2005 at Twin Rivers Care Center, Anoka. He was born July 9, 1920 in Duluth to Joseph and Rose (Rutkja) Kuczynski. He was a World War II veteran of the European theater and retired port director for the U.S. Customs Service.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; son and daughter-in-law, Adrian and Dawn Kuczynski of Birchwood; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Gary Webb of Blaine; grandsons, David and Greg Kuczynski and Michael and Steven Gedney; and sister, Berniece Walczynski of Duluth.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Warren Talbot

Funeral service for Warren J. Talbot, 75, Coon Rapids, took place May 9 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Michael A. Van Sloun officiated.

Talbot died May 4, 2005 in Coon Rapids. He was born Aug. 8, 1929 in Anoka to Cyril A. Talbot and Edith R. Bearl and was a telephone communications lineman.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Michael, Thomas (LeAnn), Timothy (Kathy), Patrick (Terri); grandchildren, Christa, Cassie, Megan, Angie, Heather, Jeff, Timmy and Johnna; brother, Cecil (Judy) Talbot; sisters, Roslyn (Rich) Duclos and Shirley (Bob) Youngquist; and sister-in-law, Betty Talbot.

Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.

Edna Walter

Funeral service for Edna Myrtle Walter, 91, Coon Rapids, took place May 9 at Anoka United Methodist Church. Rev. Bill Eaves officiated.

Walter died May 4, 2005 at Mary T, Coon Rapids. She was born Sept. 10, 1913 in Staples to George and Myrtle (Bryant) Morrison. She was retired clerk at the city of Anoka.

She is survived by her sons, Dick (Colleen) and John (Edie) Walter; grandchildren, Beth (Josh) Bernet, Steve (Janet) Walter, Mike (Becky) Walter, Kathy (Carl) Geist, Angela Walter, Lisa (David) Baird, Susan (Michael) Weddle and Joy (Mark) Hess; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Lorna (Dick) Kondratowicz; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chalmer; and grandson, James.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Erika Boden

Graveside service for Erika Anna Boden, 76, Coon Rapids, took place May 16 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Tom (Jessica), Lisa Gerdes (Dave); grandchildren, Jordan, Erika and Sophia; brother, Erich Schroeder; and sister, Hilma Kaspar (Karl-Heinz).

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Frances Erickson

Funeral service for Frances Margaret Erickson, 92, Anoka, took place May 24 at First Baptist Church of Anoka. Rev. Abe Cardosa officiated.

Erickson died May 19, 2005 at New Brighton Care Center. She was born Aug. 8, 1912 in Worthington to Hartwig Martin and Eureka (Johnson) Bjornstad. She was a retired teacher.

She is survived by her children, David and wife Kathy, Allen and wife Audrey, Karen Mayo and Janet Bast; grandchildren, Jeff (Sharon) Erickson, Amy and Scott Erickson, Liz and Ann Erickson, Bart (Jean) Mayo, Mike (Bo) Mayo, Eric (Michelle) Mayo, Jenny (Greg) Mayo-Myers, Andrea Waste, Laurel (Jonathan) Smith and Jason Dunn; great-grandsons, Matthew and Jesse Waste, Andy Erickson, William Smith and Jonathan Mayo; sister-in-law, Ednae Erickson; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Ursula Gilgenbach

Funeral service for Ursula Gilgenbach, 70, Coon Rapids, took place May 17, 2005 at Church of Epiphany, Coon Rapids.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Helen Hagberg

Memorial service for Helen C. Hagberg, 66, Anoka, took place May 19, 2005 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Debbie, David, Tammi and Brad; son-in-law, Keith Schmidt; stepson, Rick; brothers, Sam (Trudy) Starr, Jay (Carol) Starr; sister, Jeannie Awai; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nellie Schmidt.

Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery, Brainerd. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Edward Marcelin

Funeral service for Edward J. Marcelin, 91, Coon Rapids, took place May 20 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Dennis Zehren officiated.

Marcelin died May 16, 2005 in Anoka. He was born Feb. 17, 1914 in Neche, N.D., to Henry Marcelin and Elmira Dupre. He was a retired water works operating engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Tom and Dale Marcelin; daughter, Judy (Gary) Harper; grandchildren, Ron, Jason and Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kelsey, Avery, Autumn and Logan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice (Nan).

Interment was at Epiphany Catholic Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.
