Eunice Gusa

Funeral services for Eunice Harriet Gusa, 83, Elk River, formerly of Blaine, Princeton and Thief River Falls, will take place today (Friday, Jan. 30), 11 a.m., at Emmanuel Christian Center, Spring Lake Park. Rev. Mark Denyes will officiate.

Gusa died Jan. 26, 2004 at her home. She was born Jan. 6, 1921 in Holt to Gustav Andrew and Alma Berthina (Johnson) Johnson. She was a retired packer and table girl at Federal Cartridge.

She is survived by her husband, L. James Gusa; daughters, Vernette Merry and husband Sam, of Vicksburg, Miss., Jeanine Jones and husband Gerard of St. Francis, Louene Roos and husband Ronald of Elk River; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister Verna Wilson and husband Vern of Greeley, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Vincent Johnson; sister, Helena Moe; and son-in-law, Rev. Graham Lee.

Pallbearers are James and Shawn Merry, David Lee, Jay and Donovan Roos, Robert Siedlecki and John Glassel.

Interment is at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Wilbert Haala Jr.

Funeral services for Wilbert Haala Jr. (Will), 58, Coon Rapids, formerly of New Ulm, took place Jan. 23 at St. John the Baptist, Searles. Rev. John Richter officiated.

Haala died Jan. 17, 2004 in Coon Rapids. He was born June 8, 1945 in Springfield and was a computer technician.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa; son, Wilbert 'Bill' Haala III; daughters, Jody (Rick) Mortenson and Laura (Mark) Hochhalter; stepdaughters, Tina, Kathy and Sara Zachmann; grandchildren, Anthony, Colleen, Cody, Julie and Jordan; step-grandchildren, Justin, Derek and Ashley; parents, Wilbert Sr. and Angeline; and brothers and sisters, Tom (Donna), Lynette, Joyce (Robert), Mike (Shirley) Marlys (Jim), Paul (Cheryl), Carol (Pat) and Robert (Amy).

Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery, Sleepy Eye. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Joyce Hahn

Funeral services for Joyce E. Hahn, 64, Spring Lake Park, formerly of Swanville, took place Jan. 27 at Swanville Bible Church. Rev. David Packo officiated.

Hahn died Jan. 16, 2004 at Unity Hospital. She was born Jan. 17, 1939 in Swanville Township, Morrison County, to Arthur and Ida Unger Ehrenberg.

She is survived by her husband Jerry; son, Scott Hahn and wife Donna of Coon Rapids; brothers, Marvin Ehrenberg of Coon Rapids and Melvin Ehrenberg and wife Darlene of Burtrum; sister, Darlene Palm and husband Scotty of Burtrum; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and special friend, Oreo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant son, Brian.

Interment was at Springbrook Cemetery, Swanville. Arrangements were by The Shelley Funeral Chapel, Swanville.

Audrey Kirkeide

Funeral services for Audrey Glorianne Kirkeide, 73, Andover, took place Jan. 16 at Grace Lutheran Church, Andover. Rev. Gene Heglund officiated.

Kirkeide died Jan. 12, 2004 at her home. She was born Aug. 23, 1930 in Greenbush to Arthur M. Anderson and Alma Pederson, and was a bookkeeper.

She is survived by her husband, Clifton; children, Rodger, Gary (Janelle), Dwight (Jane), Arlyn (Jenny), Delaine (Liz), LouAnn (Clyde) Swanson, LeeAnn (Royce) Kyriakides, Lynette, Tammy (Vassilis) Mihailidis; 20 grandchildren; brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her children, Cynthia, Douglas and Cheryl.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.

Ellie Nordick

Funeral services for Ellie M. Nordick, 68, Brooklyn Center, took place Jan. 24 at Church of St. Gerard, Brooklyn Park. Rev. Terrence Smith officiated.

Nordick died Jan. 22, 2004 at her home. She was born May 13, 1935 in Wahpeton, N.D., to Elmer and Evelyn (Forcier) Walter. She was a 22-year employee of U.S. West Phone Company.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Donabauer of Eden Prairie, Gary (Chris) Nordick of Moline, Ill., Brett (Sheri) Nordick of Glyndon, Susanne (John) Jacobs of Dayton, Mark (LeeAnn) Nordick of St. Francis, Amy (Todd) Albert of Crystal, and Eve (Steve) Cummins of Duluth; 16 grandchildren; eight siblings and in-laws; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Ann; and granddaughter, Emily.

Pallbearers were Andrew, Trevor and Erin Nordick, Luke Donabauer, and Scott and Kate Jacobs.

Interment was at Champlin Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Evelyn Peterson

Funeral services for Evelyn Jeannette Peterson, 84, Coon Rapids, formerly of Braham, took place Jan. 28 at Redeemer Covenant Church, Brooklyn Park.

Peterson died Jan. 24, 2004 in Coon Rapids. She was born July 4, 1919 in Maple Ridge Township.

She is survived by her children, Rodney (Lorna) Peterson, Judith (Gary) Stull, Joan (James) Balabon; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Marjean (Gordon) Vickstrom; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon W. Peterson; and sister, Mavis Mattson.

Interment was at Siloa Lutheran Cemetery, Maple Ridge Township. Arrangements were by Evans Nordby Funeral Homes, Brooklyn Center.

Myrtle Schmelzer

Funeral services for Myrtle Elizabeth Schmelzer, 82, Anoka, took place Jan. 28 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Adrian Piotrowski officiated.

Schmelzer died Jan. 24, 2004. She was born July 31, 1921 in Minneapolis to Robert Peter and Ruth Anne (nee Sederstrom) Duvall.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; sons, Richard Jr. and William Schmelzer; daughters, Sharon (John) Pederson, Carole Schmelzer, Janice (Don) Bellows, Christine (Chuck) Awker; son-in-law, Gary Fritz; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Schmelzer; and daughter, Linda Fritz.

Pallbearers were Steve, Gary and Mark Pederson, Don Bellows, Jacob and Aaron Fritz, and Sean Schmelzer.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Harry Sibley

Funeral services for Harry Sibley, 68, Pine City, formerly of Anoka County, took place Jan. 26 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Patrick Kennedy officiated.

Sibley died Jan. 20, 2004 at Fairview-University Hospital. He was born March 14, 1935 in Ware, Mass., to Harry and Marjorie (Danforth) Sibley. He served for 10 years in the U.S. Air Force and was a 30-year employee with Unisys.

He is survived by his wife, Laverne; children, Mark (Deeann), Laurie Boniarczyk (Barney), David (Diane), Susan Dzieweczynski (Mark), Matthew (Diane); nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Norma Stein

Funeral services for Norma C. (Niemann) Stein, 67, Coon Rapids and Sun Lakes, Ariz., took place Jan., 27 at First Baptist Church of Sun Lakes.

Stein died Jan. 22, 2004 in Sun Lakes. She was born Aug. 25, 1936 in St. Cloud to Lewis A. and Florence A. (Wacker) Niemann. A resident of Coon Rapids since 1961, she taught kindergarten at Johnsville Elementary School in Anoka-Hennepin School District 11 in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; daughter, Paula J. of Brooklyn Park; sons, David L. (Jenny) of Green Bay, Wis., and Daniel E. of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Kate, Peter, Evelyn and Claire of Green Bay; mother-in-law, Mrs. David F. (Zelda Jane Petty) Stein of Cokato; brother-in-law, Dale Stein and Audrey of Tucson, Ariz; niece and nephews, Christopher and John Pickett and Pamela Stein, all of Tucson, and Derek Stein of Kalamazoo, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Florence Niemann; and sister, Glenis (Niemann) Pickett.

Arrangements were by Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, Chandler, Ariz.

Linda Stewart

Memorial prayer services for Linda Stewart, 67, Ham Lake, took place Jan. 29 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Blaine. Deacon Kevin Jents officiated.

Stewart died Jan. 25, 2004 at her home. She was born May 1, 1936 in the Ukraine to Eugene and Mathilda (Bouillon) Krebs and was an office manager.

She is survived by her husband, Sam; children, Steven, Kathy and Lorie; and grandchildren, Andy, Angella, Morgan, Joe and Sam.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Lulu Syring

Funeral services for Lulu 'Lu' Ruby Syring, 90, Anoka, took place Jan. 23 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Norman Berg officiated.

Syring died Jan. 21, 2004 at Park River Estates. She was born Oct. 2, 1913 in Isanti to Oscar Beckman and Nellie Hoberg.

She is survived by her children, Sharon (Dan), Judith, Douglas (LaVon), Richard, Susan (Don), Craig (Sally); grandchildren, Scott (Debra), Jason (Heather), Sean (Tara), Wendy and Tracy; great-grandchildren, Tyler; siblings, Larry, Jerry, Delano, Wendell, Florence, Gladys, June, LaVerne and Barb; many nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; and siblings, Wallace, Howard, Beauford, Manford, Gordon, Geneva, Fern, Delores and Lucille.

Pallbearers were Douglas, Richard, Craig, Scott, Jason and Sean Syring.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.
