Helen Olson

Funeral service for Helen Louise Olson, 72, Anoka, took place Sept. 10 at Family of Christ Lutheran Church. Rev. Dennis Perryman officiated.

Olson died Sept 6, 2004 at her home. She was born Jan. 26, 1932 in Frazee to Albert Paul and Minnie Meta Irene (Mueller) Miller.

She is survived by her daughters, Tina Wodziak (Mike Norman and his daughter Rachel) of Ramsey, and Shelley (Steven) Perra of Cambridge; grandchildren, Jon and Katie Wodziak, Cayleen and Collin Perra; brother, Glen (Nathlie) Miller of Frazee; and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren; infant daughter; parents, Albert and Minnie Miller; and sister, Alice LaTour.

Pallbearers were Steven and Gregory LaTour, Jeff Miller, David Scheer, Rick Marsh and Tom Olson.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Lawrence Plessel

Funeral service for Lawrence A. Plessel, 60, Ramsey, took place Dec. 10 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Pine City. Rev. Michael Lyons officiated.

Plessel died Sept. 4, 2004 at his home. He was born June 8, 1944 in Pine City to Joseph and Marie Plessel. He owned and operated Pretzel Sanitation in Ramsey for more than 20 years until he retired in October 2001.

He is survived by his children, Mark (Pamela) Plessel of Ramsey, Dan (Elizabeth) Plessel of Coon Rapids, Lisa (Charlie) Olson of Minnetrista, Lori (Bevan) Blauert of Burns Township; companion, Dee Cool of Ramsey; grandchildren, Jonathan Plessel, Matthew Plessel, Nicholas Plessel, Samantha Plessel, Patrick Johnston, Amber Plessel, Alexandria Plessel, Timothy Plessel, Rachael Johnston, Benjamin Blauert, and Isabella Blauert; brother, Roger (Doris) Plessel of Fridley; sister, Dorothy (Dwight) Westermann of Eau Claire, Wis.; former wife, Gloria Plessel of Anoka; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marie Plessel.

Pallbearers were Joseph, Justin and Christopher Plessel, Damian Westermann and Tim and Terry Sward.

Interment was at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Pine City. Arrangements were by Swanson Chapel, Funeral and Cremation Service, Pine City.

Marlyn Pufahl

Funeral service for Marlyn Ruth Pufahl, 72, Minneapolis, took place Sept. 11 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock officiated.

Pufahl died Sept. 7, 2004 at her home. She was born Sept. 24, 1931 in Minneapolis to Edward Harold and Florence Johanna (Nipp) Boos.

She is survived by her husband, Al; sons, Scott (Linda Skille), Todd (Laurie), John (Michelle); grandchildren, Kelly, Chris, Katie and Nick Pufahl; brothers, Robert Boos, Charles (Hope) Boos, Thomas (Irene) Boos, James (Doris) Boos; sisters, Florence (Donald) Olson, Patricia (Paul) Sperry, Jean Olson; and nieces and nephews.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Jack Raber

Funeral service for Jack P. Raber, 78, Coon Rapids, took place Sept. 9 at Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.

Raber died Sept. 5, 2004 in Coon Rapids. He was born Sept. 18, 1925 in Chicago, Ill., to Jacob and Anna Raber. He served in World War II with the 3rd Marine Division. He was a truck driver with Consolidated Freightways for 30 years and a member of the VFW and Bunker Hills Senior Men's Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife, Charmaine; Barney and Nani; and many friends and relatives.

Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery, Austin. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.

Elsie Shadick

Graveside service for Elsie 'Sue' Sampson Shadick, 96, Vista, Calif., formerly of Anoka, will take place Saturday, Sept. 25, 11 a.m., at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka.

Shadick died Aug. 2, 2004 in Vista. She was born Nov. 10, 1907 in Belview and was a retired teacher, including five years at Anoka High School in the late 1920 and 1930s and seventh-grade at Coon Rapids Junior High (now middle) School in the 1960s.

She is survived by her son, Michael of Minneapolis; daughter, Susan of Poulsbo, Wash.; grandchildren, Erick, Jennifer and Joshua; sister, Irene Weiss of Vista; and sister-in-law, Mabel Sampson of Belview.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Shadick.

Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Homer Stamper

Funeral service for Homer E. Stamper, 78, Mora, formerly of Coon Rapids, took place Sept. 8 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Patrick Kennedy officiated.

Stamper died Sept. 2, 2004 in Minneapolis. He was born Sept. 12, 1925 in Pedro, Ohio, to John and Margaret Stamper. He was a retired supervisor at a roofing plant.

He is survived by his children, Dan, Sandy (Dirk) Roman, Randy (Kerry), Brenda Ridge, Larry, Barbara (Brian) Maciej; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters; and four brothers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ermadine; one brother; and two sisters.

Pallbearers were Jason Roman, Zach and Cody Stamper and Shawn Ridge.

Interment was at Epiphany Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.

Roger Weeks

Funeral service for Roger Milton Weeks, 89, Anoka, took place Sept. 13 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Bill Eaves officiated.

Weeks died Sept. 9, 2004 in Champlin. He was born Jan. 17, 1915 in Stanley, Wis., to William Henry and Leola (William) Weeks. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Anoka American Legion Post and a retired truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Eloise; children, Stanley (Glynda) of Texas, Bruce of Lake Elmo, Judith Meyers of Florida, Gary (Carol) of Ham Lake; Sheldon (Nancy) of Clearwater, Kenneth (Christine) of Indiana, Dane (Melanie) of Andover; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Wenita Duffield of Browns Valley; brothers, Harold (Marie) of Missouri, Willis (Shirley) of South Dakota; sister-in-law, Janet (Ben) Presley of Edina; brother-in-law, Stanley Heath of South Dakota; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Jeffrey; daughter, Janalyn Joan Roundtree; brother, Homer; and sister, Wilda.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka, Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Max Anderson

Memorial service for Max R. Anderson, 88, Ramsey, took place Sept. 16 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Anderson died Sept. 11, 2004 in Wyoming. He was born July 4, 1916 in Arlington, S.D.

He is survived by his children, Judy France (Dennis), Richard Anderson (Belen), Max G. Anderson (Nancy), Elizabeth Anderson; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine V.; and great-grandson, Nicholas.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Suzanne Fischer

Funeral services for Suzanne K. Fischer, 59, Ramsey, will take place today (Friday, Sept. 24), 10:30 a.m., at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Mike Van Sloun will officiate.

Fischer died Sept. 19, 2004 at her home. She was born Jan. 31, 1945 in Little Falls to Louis R. Thoma and Agnes E. Muehlbauer. She was a registered nurse at Unity Hospital for more than 30 years.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughters, Mary (Ron) Weigel, Barb Germain and Jodi Petryszyn; grandchildren, Chris, Jeremy and Nathan Weigel, Drew, Blake and Julie Germain; mother-in-law, Theresa Fischer; brothers, Ted, Jerry and Eugene Thoma; sisters, Carol Andres, Mary Becker, Bernice Posch and Christine Kolling; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Fred Thoma; and granddaughter, Alison Germain.

Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Bonita Freese-Basile

Funeral service for Bonita Marie 'Bonnie' Freese-Basile, 43, Glendale, Ariz., formerly of Anoka, took place Sept. 17 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Deacon Chuck Waugh officiated.

Freese-Basile died Sept. 12, 2004 at Arrowhead Community Hospital, Glendale. She was born Oct. 31, 1960 in Minneapolis to Francis Bernard and Evelyn Marie (Eisenmenger) Freese. She was the owner-operator of Bonnie Freese and Associates in Glendale.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Basile; step-daughters, Karlee Basile of Binghamton, N.Y., Jessica (Rodney) Spearman of West Palm Beach, Fla.; brothers, Jerome (Julie) Freese of Anoka, Curtis (Brenda) Freese of Champlin; sister, Joyce (Dave) Seeley of St. Paul; grandmother, Marie Freese of Clara City; stepbrother, Garry (Terry) Freese of Kodiak, N.Y.; stepsister, Shari (Jim) Simchuk of Big Lake; 16 nieces and nephews; three great-nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Robert Freiberg of Phoenix, Ariz.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Lawrence Gilbertson

Funeral service for Lawrence O. Gilbertson 'Larry,' 68, Coon Rapids, took place Sept. 15 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids. Rev. Patrick Kennedy officiated.

Gilbertson died Sept. 11, 2004 at his home. He was born March 30, 1936 in Austin.

He is survived by his wife, Jan; son, Kevin; daughter, Keri Krumm (Scott); grandchildren, Chelsea, Dalton, Austin and Alexa; mother, Enid; brothers, Charles and Arvid; sisters, Claire Haberkorn, Rose Peck and Sonya Sayler; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by father, Carl; and brothers, Curt and Wayne.

Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
