Marilyn Eggersgluss, 87

Marilyn Margaret Eggersgluss was born Aug. 3, 1928 to James and Mary Moore. She grew up on a farm near Buffalo with her eight brothers and sisters. Marilyn graduated from Buffalo High School in 1946. After graduating, she worked as a telephone operator for seven years.

She married Melvin Eggersgluss in 1952, and together they raised 15 children.

Marilyn was a devout Catholic, volunteering at the church for many years and helping deliver Meals-On-Wheels.

She loved swimming and pontooning with her family at the cabin up north. She instilled a sense of adventure in each of her children by spearheading road trips out east in the family van. She single-handedly kept the post office in business with the cards and newspaper clippings she sent out continuously to her 15 children to keep them up on current events. A loyal sports fan, she loved the Minnesota Twins and the Vikings. She could go toe to toe with anyone on sports trivia.

She made her children proud to be part of a large family, supporting each other through life’s ups and downs. Her smile was irresistible, and her laughter was contagious, a trait she passed on to each of her children. She was the hub of the family, tracking the comings and goings of the kids, the grandchildren and her nieces and nephews, with whom she also had close and special relationships. She enjoyed hearing about the travels and experiences everyone would share with her, and she in turn would share them with others; she was a social network before the term was coined.

On June 26, 2016, the good Lord called and Marilyn accepted an invitation to a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. An unlimited buffet of laughter, hugs and love will be served. Irish music will be playing as they welcome Marilyn to the party. We will miss her laughter the most, but we can still hear it in the smell of fresh cut grass, the winners call out in “Bingo” and the sound of Irish music.
