Vandora Davis, 98

Vandora J. Davis, 98, of Annandale died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014 at the Annandale Care Center.

Funeral services were scheduled on Monday, Dec. 22 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. David Nelson officiating. Burial followed at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation was scheduled on Sunday, as well as one hour prior to the service on Monday, both at the church. A prayer service was scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Vandora June Davis was born to Lars and Minnie (Olson) Knutson on June 28, 1916 in the small town of Boyd, Minn. Van was baptized and confirmed at Boyd Trinity Lutheran Church. She attended school and graduated from Boyd High School in 1935; Van was a star guard for the girl’s basketball team.

After graduation, she moved to South Haven to help her sister and brother-in-law care for their children while they owned and operated Pete’s Café.

Van was united in marriage to Raymond Davis on June 24, 1938 in Kimball at the Church of Christ parsonage. To this union, five children were born. After marriage, they remained in the Annandale and South Haven area. She was known as the popcorn lady when she sold popcorn at the free movies in the South Haven Park. She then spent 40 years in restaurants serving and making friends with everyone who walked through the door. She loved to garden, can, bake, sew for her daughters, and have coffee with her friends. Van was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she was active in many small groups within the church; she enjoyed attending Bible studies and serving on lunch committees. Van loved visiting with people and was known for her special kisses. Her family was very important to her and she loved spending time with them; she would stay at their houses to be close to her children and grandchildren.

Vandora is survived by: her children, David (Barb) Davis of Corcoran, Barb (Bernie) Weber of Eden Prairie, Linda (Ron) Dircks of Annandale, Nancy (Glen) Schultz of Annandale, and Donna (John) Brand of Eden Prairie; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband of 40 years, Raymond; her parents; four brothers, Harvey, Merril, Kalmer, and Lester Knutson; and three sisters, Alice Knutson, Almira Peterson and Iola Nelson.

Pallbearers: Arin Davis, Martin Weber, Ryan and Troy Dircks, Adam and Matthew Schultz, and Alex and Jonathan Brand. Honorary bearers: Cindy Davis, Kim Dornfeld, Natalie Bowker, Gretchen Weber, Molly Merrill, Rebekah Schultz, and Lauren Brand.

Mark and Ardis Nelson, Judy Johnson, and Orma Lou Jacobsma provided the music for the service.

Arrangements were entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.

Our mom will always be remembered for her kind words, loving ways, a smile and kiss to warm your heart, and beautiful white hair. She will remain in our hearts forever.

Corinne Dehmer, 86

Corinne A. Dehmer, 86, of Monticello, formerly of St. Michael, Minn., passed away at CentraCare Health in Monticello on Dec 14, 2014.

Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled on Saturday, Dec 20 at St. Michael Catholic Church, with visitation and prayer service on Friday at the Peterson Chapel, St. Michael and an hour prior to Mass at the church on Saturday. Interment was planned at St. Michael Cemetery.

Corinne was born on April 20, 1928 to Emil and Cecilia (Fissette) DeMars in Albertville, Minn.

She married Herbert Dehmer on Oct. 14, 1948 at the Church of St. Albert in Albertville. They farmed in St. Michael-Frankfort Township many years.

Preceded in death by: her parents, Emil and Cecelia; husband, Herbert; grandson, Chad Dehmer; and nine brothers and sisters-in-law.

Survived by: her children, Donald (Beverly) Dehmer, David (Karen) Dehmer, Kathleen (James) Goeb, Roland (Liz) Dehmer, Ralph (Sally) Dehmer, Steven (Joyce) Dehmer, Paul (Karen) Dehmer, Janice (Steve) Anderson, Anita (Dennis) Lenneman, Lee (Carey) Dehmer, Allen (Synde) Dehmer, and Clarice (Steve) Kessler; 41 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brothers, Leon (Anita) DeMars and Richard DeMars; sisters, Beatrice May, Doris DesMarais, LaVerna VanKeuren, Leona Summers, and Edna Kostuch; and 15 brothers & sisters-in-law.

The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home served the family.

Donna Herbst, 75

Donna L. Herbst, 75, of Maple Plain, Minn. died on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014.

She was born Oct. 6, 1937 in Bonesteel, S.D.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Leslie and Virginia Mills; brother, Donald Mills; an infant brother; and twin sister.

She is survived by: her husband, Roland; sons, Bradley (Barbara) Shofner and Randy (Joanie) Shofner; step-sons, Bruce Herbst and David (Elcy) Herbst; grandchildren, Travis, Jessica and Makenzie; step-grandchildren, Rachel and Lana; sister, Joanne (Leland) Shrode; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and great friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27 at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano, Minn. Visitation will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday prior to the services. Interment will be in the Lewis Cemetery, Maple Plain, Minn.

Dianne Iversen, 72

Dianne Carolyn (Sather) Iversen, 72, of Austin, Minn. passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dianne was born April 3, 1942 and raised in Benson, Minn.

She married Burton Iversen on June 16, 1962.

Dianne was a caring, thoughtful and generous person. Her beautiful home and picturesque gardens reflected her creative and unique style. She loved flowers, dancing, playing cards, and a good joke. Dianne was a favorite among her nieces and nephews due to her fun loving personality. She made her home a magical place for her grandkids, who loved her dearly.

She worked as a bookkeeper and decorating consultant for Winkels Carpet in Perham, Minn. 25 years. She spent a short time at Countryside Carpets in Buffalo, Minn. and was a partner in Frank & Tom’s Floral in Blooming Prairie, Minn. for several years after moving to Austin. She spent her winters decorating inside and her summers decorating outside.

Survivors include: her husband of 52 years, Burton Iversen of Austin, Minn.; three children, Pam (Paul) Freer of Buffalo, Minn., Jon (Jeanne) Iversen of Richfield, Minn. and Jay (Yong) Iversen of Cottage Grove, Minn.; five grandchildren, Jesse (Paula) Gleason, Ashley (Garrett) Peterson, Delaney and Ethan Freer, and Elizabeth Iversen; four great-grandchildren, Liam and Brady Gleason, and Lana and Dane Peterson; two sisters, Verona Skare of Burnsville, Minn. and Marge Commerford of Buffalo, Minn.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Mervin and Pauline Sather; and sisters, Marian Olson and Doris Collins.

A funeral service was scheduled on Monday, Dec. 22 at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, Minn., with visitation an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday and interment at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice Program in Austin, Minn.

Sarah Kasper, 101

Sarah Cecilia Kasper, 101, of Albertville passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.

She was born on April 30, 1913 in Andover, S.D. the daughter of Alec and Elizabeth (Roden) Bistodeau.

On June 14, 1950, Sarah C. Bistodeau and Ralph J. Kasper were joined in holy marriage at St. Albert’s Catholic Church in Albertville, Minn. God blessed their marriage with two daughters, Rita and Jean.

Sarah enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening, flowers and being a caregiver all her entire life.

She was a lifelong member of the Church of St. Albert in Albertville. Sarah was also the oldest parishioner and belonged to St. Albert’s Christian Mothers.

Survived by: her loving daughters, Rita (Tom) Fay of Albertville and Jean (Billy) Lightfoot of Louisville, Ga.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special friend, Sharon Fay; and by many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: her husband, Ralph J. Kasper; her parents; eight brothers; and two sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sarah Kasper was scheduled on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 11 a.m., at the Church of St. Albert in Albertville. Father Xavier was the Celebrant. Interment followed at St. Albert’s Cemetery. A visitation was scheduled on Monday, Dec. 22 from 4-8 p.m. at the church, and further visitation was planned on Tuesday morning an hour prior to Mass.

Casket bearers: Jim, John and Mike Bistodeau, George Dhein, Floyd Roden, and Steve Van Dyke.

The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home served the family.

William Austin, 91

William (Bill) E. Austin, 91, was born in Kansas City, Mo. Bill passed away peacefully on Feb. 22, 2015 at home in Buffalo, Minn. after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen, daughter, Carol, and brother, Harold. Survived by: daughter, Judy; son, Mark; grandchildren, Carrie, Lori, Ron (Austin) and Christine; and great-grandchildren, Eliah, Sophie, Kamron, Kellan, Brandon, and Riley.

A veteran of World War II (Pacific Campaign) and a long-time resident of St. Louis, Bill was loved by his family, relatives, close friends, and caregivers.

In lieu of a funeral service, a memorial event for family and friends will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at the Wild Marsh in Buffalo to celebrate Bill’s life.

A special thanks to all of the Prairie River Home Care caregivers who helped take incredible care of Bill during his battle with Parkinson’s up until the very end.

Warren Anderson, 87

Warren Anderson, 87, of Buffalo, Minn. passed away on March 24, 2015 at St. Francis Regional Hospital in Shakopee, Minn.

Memorial service was scheduled on Tuesday, March 31 at Buffalo United Methodist Church, with a visitation prior to the service at the church and interment at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Creek, Minn.

Warren was born to J. Edward and Clara (Gustafson) Anderson on July 21, 1927 in Marysville Township. Warren graduated from Buffalo High School and attended St. Cloud Teachers College until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944. He served in both World War II and the Korean War.

On May 1, 1953, he was married to Ione Posthumus in Silver Creek. They were blessed with three children. He was employed for over 25 years at MTS Systems in Eden Prairie. He also worked at the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted School District. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family.

Warren is survived by: his children, David (Robin) Anderson of Buffalo and Cathy (Lance) Breyer of Elko, Minn.; nephew, Merlin (Ruth) Swanson of Buffalo; sisters-in-law, Betty Johnson of Monticello, Minn., Donna (James) Bergquist of Plymouth, Minn., Ruthann Dixon of Waxahachie, Texas, and Karen (Richard) Larson of New Brighton, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Ione; son, Douglas Anderson; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Marvin Swanson; sister, Ruth (infant); and brothers-in-law, Myron Johnson and Max Dixon.

The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo served the family.
