JoAnn M. Gunnerson, age 76, formerly of South Haven died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Centennial Villa Assisted Living where she has been a resident the past 1 1/2 years.
Friends may call one hour prior to Memorial Services which will be held 4:00 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Lake Union Covenant Church, 74246 CSAH 19, South Haven with Pastor Lloyd Melvie officiating.
JoAnn Marie Gunnerson was born September 28, 1933 at Pipestone, MN to Joseph and Ann (Johnson) Biever. She married Harold Dale Gunnerson on June 27, 1967 and he preceded her in death on June 28, 2003. JoAnn was employed by Fabritek Corporation, Cokato and was a member of Lake Union Covenant Church. She enjoyed listening to music and visiting with family & friends.
She is survived by children Sharie (Gordy) Carlson of Annandale, Randy (Julie) Sterriker of Las Vegas, NV, brothers Merlin ‘Bud’ Biever & his wife Lois of Brainerd, Lee Biever of Annandale, special friend Beth Raisanen of Annandale, 6 grandchildren Mitch, Nick, Matt, Sherry, Jenny, Vicky, and 4 great grandchildren Logan, Laney, Macey, & Kara. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Vickie Sterriker, and brother Sonny Biever.
The music for the service will be provided by Marleigh Rumsey. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Helen Margaret Vandergon

Helen Vandergon, age 96, formerly of Maple Manor, Maple Lake died Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Annandale Care Center.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with Funeral Services held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at the Silver Creek Community Church, 4344 114th Street NW, Maple Lake. Pastor Tim Overweg & Pastor Douglas Foreman will officiate and burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Creek Township, Wright County.
Helen Vandergon was born October 22, 1913 in Silver Creek Township, Wright County to Leonard & Anna (Kok) Vandergon. She grew up on a dairy farm on Millstone Lake and waked to the Vandergon School through 8th grade. As a young woman she moved to Minneapolis and worked as a nanny & housemaid and then for many many years at Honeywell. She enjoyed traveling worldwide, including China, Russia & Australia. Taking photos on these trips was her passion. She learned how to make intricate Ukrainian eggs, how to decorate cakes and how to make quilts. At one time Helen spent an entire winter building a radio from a kit. Helen was good natured, fun loving & adventurous. She was pleasant & caring. She lived life to the fullest experiencing all that she could.
She is survived by nieces & nephews Sandy (Jon) Thomas, Terry (Susan) Schermer, Paul (Rhonda) Schermer, Heidi (Kevin) Greniger, Douglas Foreman, Shirley (Bernie) Schermer, Bruce (Diane) Merryman, Sue (Jerry) Bos, Elaine Rinzema, Marilyn (David) Cook, Joanne (Wayne) Bauer, Diane (Bill) Bird, Steve (Betsy) Nordberg, Stuart (Kris) Nordberg, Kris Nordberg, also many great nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by brother Harry Vandergon, sisters Florence Nordberg, Marge Merryman, Lucile Schermer, and niece Becky Foreman.

Penelope Helen Wright

Penelope H. Wright, age 74 of Annandale, formerly of Waverly and Perham died Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the Buffalo Hospital.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Annandale Evangelical Free Church, Annandale. Pastor Kevin Groven will officiate and burial will be in St. Henry’s Catholic Cemetery, Perham. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, Tuesday at the church.
Penelope Helen Wright was born September 22, 1936 in Moorhead to Joseph R. and B. Myrtle (Monge) Zora. She married Dennis Wright in Fargo on June 15, 1965 and he preceded her in death in 1999. Penny worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 20 years, retiring from the Perham Memorial Hospital and Home. She enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, attending bible study, caring for animals and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her four sons & their spouses, Joseph & Shelly of Annandale, Donald & Sue of Hutchinson, Dennis & Jia of Hutchinson and Thomas of Buffalo; sister, Bette Craik of Las Vegas; sister in law Thelma Zora of Las Vegas; six grandchildren, Kaylee, Becca, Sammi, Brianna, Leah and Treyden. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Myrtle; husband, Dennis; and brother, Richard Zora.
The urnbearer will be Steve Gagnon. Kaylee Peterson, soloist and Phyllis Johnson, pianist, will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.

Mary Anne Geary

Mary Anne Geary, age 85 of Maple Lake died Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2010 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Most Reverend William Bullock, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Madison and Fr. Michael Izen officiating. Burial will be in St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Mary Anne Geary was born April 22, 1925 in Maple Lake to Loren and Anne (Raiche) Bullock. She graduated from Maple Lake High School and went on to receive her teaching degree from the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul and St. Cloud State University. Mary Anne taught in elementary schools in Melrose, Annandale and Maple Lake before spending most of her teaching career in Buffalo. She was united in marriage to George Matthew Geary on June 30, 1949 at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake and he preceded her in death on December 7, 1992. Mary Anne was an active and lifetime member of St. Timothy Catholic Church. She loved and enjoyed being with her family most of all. Mary Anne was a big Minnesota Twins baseball fan and enjoyed crossword puzzles. As a lifetime teacher, she continued to teach and to touch the lives of others.
She is survived by her son, John Geary of Cokato; daughters & their spouses, Colleen Geary Carter & William Carter III of St. Paul and Rebecca & Michael Ludenia of Maple Lake; brother, Most Reverend William H. Bullock; sisters, Adelaide Bullock and Elizabeth Bullock, both of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Patrick, Mark and Bridget Carter, Kevin (Jessica), Janel and Scott Ludenia; great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Aspyn Ludenia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Anne; husband George; and brothers, Clifford and Leonard Bullock.
Urnbearers will be Mary Anne’s six grandchildren. Krista Elsenpeter Tarbox and Sarah Goelz will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake.

Barbara Jean Schlegel

Barbara J. Schlegel, age 71 of Buffalo, formerly of Clear Lake died Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2010 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Pastor Brad Hunt officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, Friday at the funeral home.
Barbara Jean Schlegel was born November 21, 1938 in Owatanna to Donald and Marion (Hunt) Olson. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church. She was a “mom on the go.” She enjoyed taking pictures, shopping, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her children, Becky VanRuden (significant other, Doug Dixon) of Andover, Cheryl Phyle (significant other, Greg Padden) of Bertha, Diana (Jay) Krise of Buffalo, Douglas Phyle of Avon, William (Linda) Schlegel of Big Lake and Norma Schlegel of Buffalo; step children, Victor (Karen) Schlegel of St. Francis, Suzanne Guffey of Becker and Luanne Beasley of Tampa, FL; brothers and sisters, Jerry (Maureen) Olson of Sun City, AZ, Roxanna Sheehan of Brooklyn Park, Nancy (Thomas) Schmit of Minnetonka, Marion Koshiol of St. Cloud and Donald Olson of Colorado, 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Marion; significant other of 20 years, Eugene Thompson; children, Allen “Ricky” Phyle and Donald “Skip” Phyle.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Kowach, Jeremy Phyle, Richard Achman, Michael Schlegel, Chad Webeck and Noel Schlegel. Arrangements are entrusted by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Lorraine Mary Schmidt

Lorraine M. Schmidt, age 92 of Albion Center, Annandale died Friday, September 10, 2010 at her home with family at her side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 5:00 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2010 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. Bill Murtaugh as the Celebrant. Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Lorraine Mary Schmidt was born on June 9, 1918 in Maple Lake Township, Wright County to William and Emma (Provo) Hance. She was baptized and made her First Communion at St. Charles Catholic Church in Chatham Township. She attended district 28 Country School and Maple Lake High School. After teacher training, she had her first job as a country school teacher at the age of 18; she taught at a number of rural schools over many years. On November 9, 1944 she was united in marriage to Roland Edward Schmidt at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Maple Lake. Lorraine was also a homemaker, loved reading, and was a mother with a great devotion to her husband and family. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale. Lorraine lived at Albion Center for 62 years. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Lorraine is survived by her son, Robert Edward Schmidt of Minneapolis; daughter, Mary Ann (Charles) Smith of rural Annandale; grandchildren, Melissa (Terry) Dean, Jenny Paggen, Christopher Smith (special friend Karri Niebolte) and Shawn Smith; great grandchildren, Austin, Morgan, Tiffany, Taylor and Paige; honorary great grandchild, Cody; sister, Luverne (David) Mooney of Maple Lake; and sister in law, Leona Stueven of Annandale. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roland in 1987 and parents, William and Emma. May God Grant her peace and happiness.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Smith, Christopher Smith, Cody Triplett, Terry Dean, Karri Niebolte and Ethel Miller. Music for the service will be provided by Kevin Stueven, Jordan Sramek, Martin Stacknik and Gail Drinkwine. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.

Florian Nicholas Donnay

Florian Nicholas Donnay, age 81, of Kimball died Friday, October 1, 2010 at Hilltop Care Center, Watkins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Kimball. Fr. Thomas Olson will officiate and burial will be in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and one hour prior to the service at the church. Parish Prayers will be 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home followed by Knights of Columbus Rosary.
Florian Nicholas Donnay was born December 1, 1928 on the family farm in Kimball to Jacob and Elizabeth “Lizzy” (Loch) Donnay. Florian was united in marriage to Rose Ann Vannurden on August 28, 1951 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Watkins. Florian spent his entire lifetime in Kimball working as a farmer.
He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, Saint Damien Knights of Columbus Council # 11345, Kimball Historical Society and volunteered at Hilltop Care Center, Watkins. Florian enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, playing many different card games, but his greatest enjoyments in life were farming and his family.
Florian is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rose Ann of Kimball; children, Gary (Vicky) of St. Cloud, Patricia (Don) Huhn of Darwin, Ramona (Duane) Brenny of Rice, Mark (Linda) of St. Cloud, John (Chris) of Kimball, and Janice (Mark) Loch of Cold Spring; 20 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Sister Mary Emily Donnay, OSF, of Little Falls, Rita Molitor of Sartell, Clara (Ken) Maurer of St. Cloud, Charles (Anne) of St. Cloud, and Robert (Ethel) of Watkins; sisters-in-law, Iris Donnay of Watkins and Vera Donnay of Watkins. He is preceded in death by daughter, Maria, and brothers, Gilbert, Alfred, Fr. Raymond, and Eugene.
The pallbearers will be Kevin Vannurden, Tim Donnay, David Maurer, Brad Donnay, David Donnay, Linda Austin and Judy Borgerding. The music for the service will be provided by Maria Donnay, Mindy Field, Resha Timmer and Joan Zongo. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Kimball.

Laverne Magdalena Scheeler

Laverne M. Scheeler, age 91, of Kimball died Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Cardinal Cottage of the Memory Loss Unit, Annandale Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 17, 2010 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Kimball. Fr. Thomas Olson will officiate and burial will be in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and one hour prior to the service at the church. Parish Prayers will be 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Laverne Magdalena Scheeler was born February 9, 1919 to Joseph and Hedwig (Kiess) Feneis in Rockville Township, Stearns County. She married Jerome Scheeler on June 15, 1944 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Luxemburg and he preceded her in death on October 18, 2007. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards & games, gardening, baking and rug making. She was a member of St. Anne’s Church, Catholic Aid Association, and Royal Neighbors of America.
She is survived by her seven children Pat (Duane) Mares of Watkins, Dianne (Bruce) Robinson of Kimball, Alice Scheeler of Kimball, Lloyd (Deanna) Scheeler of Kimball, Joyce (Chucky) Kuechle of Kimball, Janet (Jim) Thurber of Annandale, Bonnie (Don) Thurber of Kimball, brother Joe (Jean) Feneis of St. Cloud, sister Donna (Elmer) Eisenschenk of Cold Spring, 18 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and also her special family & staff of Cardinal Cottage. Her husband, three brothers and six sisters preceded her in death.
The pallbearers will be Duane Mares, Bruce Robinson, Deanna Scheeler, Chucky Kuechle, Jim Thurber, and Don Thurber. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Kimball.

Dale Ronald Batzel

Dale R. Batzel, age 56, of Kimball died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 331 Harrison St W, Annandale with Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, French Lake Township, Wright County. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and at the Church one hour prior to services. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Monday.
Dale Ronald Batzel was born April 3, 1954 in Rochester to Kenneth Batzel and Leda (Batzel) Meyer. He was a Jack of all trades and enjoying long haul truck driving and later a carpenter. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, socializing, and time spent with family & friends.
He is survived by his fiancée Mary Johnson of Kimball, children Chris Poncelet (Steve) of Rochester, Nathan Batzel of Kimball, Justin Batzel of St. Cloud, Amy Batzel of Kimball, Robert Batzel of South Haven, Tony Gilles of Clearwater, Ricky Gilles of St. Cloud, Kelsey Johnson of Kimball, Wyatt Johnson of Kimball, father Kenneth Batzel (Paulette) of Rochester, mother Leda Meyer of Rochester (Roger Hanson of Kassen), foster mother Bonnie Wooten of St. Charles, brothers Alan Batzel of Rosemount, Sam Batzel (Diane) of Rochester, sisters Debbie Bandy of Rochester, Julie Whitcomb (Jason) of Dover, former wife Judy Batzel-Hass of South Haven, and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by step father Marvin Meyer, brother Norman Grant, step brother David Meyer, and brother in law Robert Hass.
The music for the service will be provided by Orma Lou Jacobsma and Ardis Nelson. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Sarah Marie Grunewald

Sarah Marie Grunewald, age 9, of Watkins died after a brave battle with cancer on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at University of Minnesota Hospital, Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kimball with Rev. David Milz officiating. Burial will follow at the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Sarah Marie Grunewald was born February 10, 2001 in St. Cloud to Michael and Jill (Wendroth) Grunewald. She was a member of the fourth grade class at Eden Valley-Watkins Elementary School and St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kimball. She enjoyed crafts, reading, and playing with friends; she also loved babies & animals.
She is survived by her parents Mike & Jill Grunewald and brother Carter of Watkins, grandparents David & Martha Grunewald of Annandale, Stan & Bea Marple of Eden Valley, aunts & uncles Patty & Kevin Osterling of Duluth, Tammy & Neal Jude of Maple Lake, Chad Grunewald of Annandale, Mark & Berta Wendroth of Eden Valley, Mary & Larry Theis of Paynesville, Andrea & Steve Ruhland of Eden Valley, Jay Wendroth of St. Louis Park, Jeff & Julie Wendroth of Eden Valley; also several cousins. She was preceded in death by grandfather Reuben Wendroth and uncles Kevin & Brian Wendroth.
The pallbearers will be Chad Grunewald, Mark Wendroth, Jay Wendroth and Jeff Wendroth. The organist will be Lori Rippentrop and the arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Kimball.

Marlene May Helmke

Marlene M. Helmke, age 74 of Annandale, died suddenly Thursday, September 23, 2010 at her home in French Lake Township, Wright County.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 27, 2010 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, French Lake. Rev. Edward Groop will officiate and burial will be at Albion Evangelical Free Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Marlene May Helmke was born on May 14, 1936 in French Lake Township to Earl and Mary (Simonson) Nolan. She married Dale Helmke on May 25, 1957 in Cokato and he preceded her in death on September 3, 1994. For 21 years Marlene worked at the Annandale State Bank retiring in 1998 as Computer Manager and a Bank Officer. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, French Lake and the Christian Women’s Group, Annandale. She enjoyed bird watching and spending time with family & friends especially her grandsons.
She is survived by her children Rick Helmke, Renee (Victor) Gervais and Deanna Larson all of Annandale, three grandsons Brad & Dale Helmke and Perry Simons, six brothers and sisters Floyd (Delores) Nolan of Annandale, Rosie (Larry) Anderson of Cokato, Harley (Marie) Nolan of Annandale, Ruthie (Ron) Oster of Watkins, Betty Kelly of Mound, Margie (Larry) Alberg of Annandale, also special friend Ken Marohn of Howard Lake. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Allen Nolan, sister in law Arlene Nolan and brother in law Colon Kelly.
Jim & Jan Anderson and Margaret Groop will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.
