McManimon, Shawn P.

Shawn P. McManimon, 37, of Rushford, Minn., died of cancer Monday, May 14, 2001, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.

He was born on April 25, 1964, in LaCrosse, Wis. to Edward and Rose Ann (Hurt) McManimon.

Shawn was raised in the Oak Ridge area south of Rushford. He graduated from Rushford High School in 1982. Shawn attended Winona State University. He then farmed with his father for several years and also worked at Mill Street Inn in Rushford.

Shawn enjoyed reading, sports, playing chess, and spending time with his family.

Shawn is survived by his parents: Edward and Rose Ann McManimon of Rushford; three brothers: Mark McManimon of Winona, Minn., Brian (Linda) McManimon of Richfield, Minn., and Richard (Lavelle) McManimon of Big Stone City, SD; two sisters: Beth (Vern Myers) McManimon of Mondovi, Wis., and Maureen (Dennis) Pronschinske of Rushford; nine nieces and nephews: Morgan, Blaire, Samara, Cadence, Brooke, Mason, Irelynn, Emory, and Raquela.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

There will be a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2001, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rushford with the Rev. William Kulas officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church where there will be an 8:00 p.m. Christian Wake Service. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Hoff Funeral Homes ­ Cook Rushford Chapel is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Lea, Gladys A.

Gladys A. Lea, 97, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.

She was born on January 18, 1904, in Holt Township, Fillmore County, to Nels and Louise (Rynning) Thorud. Gladys lived in the Rushford and Peterson area all of her life. She married Albert Lea in 1921. Albert died in 1936.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Highland, and was active in numerous church activities.

Gladys is survived by one son, Glenn (Margaret) Lea of Peterson, MN; three daughters, Dolores (Herbert) Fowkes, Dayton, Ohio; LaVina Tikal, La Crescent, MN; Phyllis (Donald) Abrahams of Bloomington, MN; and one brother, Norman Thorud of Rushford, MN; twenty-one grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

One brother and four sisters preceded her in death.

The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at the First Lutheran Church of Highland with the Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the Hoff Funeral Home - Cook Rushford Chapel, and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the Church.

TerBeest, Helen Mae

Helen Mae TerBeest, 75, of Spring Valley, Minn., died Sunday, May 13, 2001 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, Minn.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Cherry Grove United Methodist Church in Cherry Grove, with Rev. Mark Rader officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery.

Snyder, Jerome A. "Jerry", M.D.

Dr. Jerome A. "Jerry" Snyder, 71, a native of Winona, died Thursday, May 10, 2001 in Newport Beach, Cal.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated at the Church of Mount Carmel in Newport Beach on Tuesday, May 15.

Krohse, Alvin

Alvin Krohse, 78, of Winona, died Monday, May 14, 2001 at Community Memorial Hospital.

Alvin was born to Frank and Helga (Hanson) Krohse on June 16, 1922 in the area of Utica, Minn., where he lived on the family farm until moving to the Lewiston Villa in 1984. He resided there until 1990 and lived the last eleven years in Winona.

Alvin was an avid music lover and will be well remembered for his piano playing at the Winona Mall.

He attended Grace Presbyterian Church in Winona regularly.

His kindness was always appreciated and will be missed by many. Alvin's family extends special thanks to his caregivers, Dave and Ann Kulas.

He is survived by two sisters, Margaret (Rueben) Sather of Winona and Leona (James) Lovell of St. Paul; and many nieces and nephews.

Alvin was preceded in death by his father and mother.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Hoff Funeral Homes-St. Charles Chapel, with Rev. Hugh Drennan officiating. Family and close friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Patrick, Adrian Paul

Adrian Paul Patrick, 4-day-old son of Miranda L. Moe, died Friday, May 11, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Bluffton Cemetery in Bluffton, Iowa.

Caldwell, Josephine Mary Ann (Wicka)

Josephine Mary Ann (Wicka) Caldwell, 87, died at St. Anne Hospice on Friday, May 11, 2001.

Jo was born in Dodge, Wis. on October 8, 1913 to the late Paul and Frances Wicka.

She is survived by her brother, Roman Wicka of Falls Church, VA; her two grandchildren, Dianne Caldwell of Coarsegold, Cal. and Brian Caldwell of Redondo Beach, Cal.; great-grandchildren, Brieanne and Keith Caldwell of Redondo Beach; brother-in-law, James E. Hauser; nieces and nephews, James A. Hauser, Thomas Hauser, Patricia Hauser, Michael Hauser, Susan Brang, Jone Kujak; and many great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her adult children, Robert and Charlene, a daughter-in-law, Rosemarie, her husband, three brothers and three sisters.

Josephine, an independent woman ahead of her time, lived most of her adult life in Minneapolis, where she raised her two children and owned and operated her own beautician business.

She was active in politics, health issues through the Senior Federation, the Polish Museum, St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, and numerous volunteer activities, including poll watcher for elections.

Josephine was a caring and generous person who lived her faith and made delicious apple pies, Christmas cookies, and sweet garlic dill pickles that she shared with many.

Josephine will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday, May 16, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Pine Creek, Wis. Rev. Daniel R. Dernek will officiate.

Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Polisah Museum.

Paskiewicz, Ervin L.

Ervin L. Paskiewicz, 81, of 872 East King St., died Saturday, March 10, 2001 at Winona Community Memorial Hospital.

He was born December 2, 1919 in Winona, to Frank and Leokadia (Fabich) Paskiewicz.

Ervin worked for and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, AARP, American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9, and #Elks Lodge #327.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include a sister, Esther Albrecht of Clearwater, Fla.; three nieces, Sharon (Scott) Tolleson of Winona, Carol (Michael) Hardy of Chicago, IL, and Sandra (Don) Curtin of Winona; and a great-niece and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Tuesday, March 13, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. The American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9 will conduct military honors at the church following the Funeral Mass.

Pallbearers were Mark Justin, Ryan Curtin, Jay Tolleson, Guy Hamernik, Art Ellestad and Phillip Lurkowski.

Johnson, Dorothy I.

Dorothy I. Johnson, 80, of Winona and formerly of Arcadia, Wis., died Friday, March 9, 2001 at the Watkins Home in Winona.

Funeral services were Tuesday, March 13, at the Wozney Funeral Home Chapel in Arcadia, with Rev. Robert Polcyn officiating. Spring burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
