Rozek, Jerome C. "Jerry"

Jerome C. "Jerry" Rozek, 84, of 1455 West Broadway, died Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at Lake Winona Manor, due to complications of diabetes.

He was born January 31, 1917 in Winona to John and Antonia (Apka) Rozek. He was united in marriage with Gertrude C. Klonowski on August 26, 1944 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Winona.

Jerry was co-owner of Lund Office Supply until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish where he served as an usher for many years, as well as a volunteer for bingo. He was a member of the Winona Athletic Club, American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9, Knights of Columbus Council #639, Jaycees, Winona Chamber of Commerce, Winona Civic Association, and a lifetime member of Westfield Golf Club and Arcadia Country Club.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the 125th Infantry Battalion.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gert of Winona; five daughters, Judi Lindahl of Milwaukee, Wis., Joanne (Robert) Shibilski of Mankato, Minn., Rita Rozek of Minnetonka, Minn., Marlene (Dick) Evenson of LaCrosse, Wis., and Kathy (Bruce) Koehler of Winona; four grandchildren, David Houselog, Karen (Brian) Behnke, Kate Shibilski and Anne Shibilski; and two great-grandchildren, Madeline Behnke and Michael Behnke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Helen Zyblicki, Ceil, Frances and Gertrude Rozek, and six brothers, Andrew, Clement, Phil, Jay, Ed and Harry Rozek.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Saturday, January 19 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with Msgr. Roy E. Literski officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery where the American Legion provided military honors.

Pallbearers were Don Swadner, Howard Reedy, John Rozek, Steve Rozek, Tom Kukowski and Jim Ives.

Honorary pallbearers were James Bambenek, Jr., Dick Kolter and Frank Kolter.

Lange, Ronnie Allan

Ronnie Allan Lange, 31, of Houston, Minn., died Monday, January 14, 2002 at Fairview University Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minn., following a lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis.

Ronnie Allan Lange was born February 3, 1970 in LaCrosse, Wis., to Rick and Linda (Holte) Lange. On October 7, 2000 he married Rachel Ann Raynor at the South Ridge United Methodist Church.

Ronnie was a 1989 graduate of Houston High School and attended Winona Technical College for two years where he graduated with honors in his automotive field. After college he worked for Chrysler Motors in Winona until 1996, when he joined Eversole Motors in LaCrosse. In 2000 he began working for the City of Houston as a mechanic and general city maintenance.

Ronnie was a member of the South Ridge United Methodist Church where he was a member of the board of directors.

He enjoyed racing in stock car races, driving in demolition derbies and horseback riding. He was a member of the Yellow River Rough Riders and the Minnesota Donkey and Mule Association. Ronnie knew how to enjoy life and outdoor sports including hunting and fishing. Even in the midst of his illness, Ronnie was sharing his excitement with his wife in the anticipation of the birth of their first child.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel of Houston; his parents, Rick and Linda Lange; sister, Tari Lange of Eagan, Minn.; his parents-in-law, Terry and Rhonda Burfield of Spring Grove, Minn.; Grandma Lange; step-grandmother, Ruth Holte; godson, Reece Lange; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and his dog, Junior.

He was preceded in death by his Grandpa and Grandma Holte, Grandpa Lange, and an aunt, Sharon Feran.

Funeral services were Friday, January 18, at the South Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Lora Sturm officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Hudson, Jesse L.

Jesse Lee Hudson, 94, of St. Anne Hospice, died Tuesday, January 15, 2002.

Funeral services were Thursday, January 17, at Martin-Myhre Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Jackson County Cemetery in Overland Park, Kan

Bosteter, Lee E.

Lee E. Bosteter, 92, died Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at Winona Community Memorial Hospital.

Lee was born December 6, 1909 in Rudd, Iowa to Elmer and Minnie (Lambert) Bosteter. On April 25, 1950 he married Marian Betts in Caledonia, Minn.

Lee was a longtime boiler engineer in Winona, working for the Winona Knitting Mills, Winona Hotel and Fiberite, from which he retired at the age of 62.

He will be remembered for his love of fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Marian; six children, Zeke (Dawn Singer), Dawn, Twila (John Sr.) Lorenz, Brenda Cross, Ned (Pamela) and Kurt (Tonya) all of Winona; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Venola (Alvin) Warnke of Winona; and a brother, Clifford Bosteter of Crescent Lake, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters, Lottie, Gladys, Vera, Merle, Ruth, Dorothy and Celia, and two brothers, Elmer Jr. and Bobby.

Funeral services were Saturday, January 19, at Hoff Funeral Homes - Burke Winona Chapel with Rev. Tony Morgan officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Sagen, Lori Ann

Lori Ann Sagen, 42, of 772 Bluff View Circle, died Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at Winona Community Memorial Hospital.

Lori was born December 28, 1959 in Winona to John and Jean (Dascher) Carter. She graduated from Winona Senior High School and attended Winona Vo-Tech for Sales and Management. She and John Sagen were married June 18, 1988 in Winona.

Lori was a homemaker. She was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church in Winona. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and garage sales.

She is survived by her husband, John; three daughters, Lindsey, Shannon and Ashley, all at home; her mother, Jean Carter of Safety Harbor, Fla.; two brothers, Pat (Jean) Carter of Winona and John Carter of Hawaii; a sister, Michelle Carter of Winona; nieces, Stephanie, Rebecca and Christine Carter; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Kathryn Sagen of Winona; and three sisters-in-law, Mary (Wayne) Frahm of Rochester, Ann Lee and Kathy Sagen, both of Winona.

Her father preceded her in death.

A memorial service was held Saturday, January 19 at Faith Assembly of God Church with Pastor Rick Drury officiating.

Double, Bernard T.

Bernard T. Double, 87, of Winona, died Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at St. Anne Hospice, Winona.

He was born November 12, 1914 in Stratford, Ontario, Canada to Sidney and Ada (Walker) Double. He married Eleanor Marie Nelson of Goderich, Ontario, Canada on July 7, 1940. They celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2000.

Bernie and Eleanor lived in Stratford, Ontario, Canada until 1950 when they emigrated to the United States and resided in Coral Gables, Fla. until moving to Port Huron, Mich. in 1951, where they resided until they retired in 1979.

They again moved back to Florida in 1980, residing in Clearwater until 1998 when they moved to Winona, residing at the Kensington Apartments to be closer to family.

He is survived by his son, Paul (Norma) of Winona; three grandsons, John Paul Double of Silver Bay, Minn., Eric Nelson (Amy) Double of Woodbury, Minn., and Matthew Matar Double of San Diego, Cal.; two great-granddaughters, Ariana and Elana Double of Woodbury; two brothers, Gordon (Shirley) of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada and Lloyd of Stratford, Ontario, Canada; two sisters, Noreen (Elmer) Gaul of Stratford, Ontario, Canada and Louise (Kenneth) Scott of Gold Beach, Ore.; a sister-in-law, Kay Double of Stratford, Ontario, Canada, and several nieces and nephews in Canada and the U.K.

Bernie was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor, his parents, and a brother, Clifford of Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

Family memorial services were held Friday, November 18 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Rev. Lawrence J. Green officiating. His cremated remains will be transferred to Stratford, Ontario, Canada for final placement.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund in Winona.

Schulze, Marlin E.

Marlin E. Schulze passed into eternal life to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 17, 2002.

He was born September 9, 1931 in Caledonia, Minn., the fourth child of Elvin and Emma (Ranzenberger) Schulze. He was baptized at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Caledonia, and had been a faithful member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in LaCrosse, since moving to LaCrosse in 1959. He served as an usher for many years. His family moved to Eitzen, Minn. to farm, and later moved to rural Caledonia.

Marlin was drafted into the U.S. Army in December 1952 and served his country during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge from the service in November 1955, he returned to work on the family farm until moving his family to LaCrosse in November of 1959.

He was a brilliant inventor and could make and design anything you asked him to and was constantly amazing others with his ingenuity. He worked at Northern Engraving as a mechanical engineer for 34 years, from 1963-1997, and retired due to health reasons.

Marlin is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Kathleen (Paggi) (DeLap) Schulze; sons, Duane Schulze and his wife, Patricia of LaCrosse, Jerry Schulze and his wife, Shelly of LaCrosse, stepsons and their families, Ronald DeLap and his wife Vickie of LaCrosse, Jerry DeLap and his wife, Judy of LaCrosse; brothers, Gerald Schulze and his friend, Kathy of Oak Creek, Wis., and Lawrence Schulze and his wife, Betty of LaCrosse; sisters, Gladys Vetsch and her husband, Ed of Winona, and Evelyn Denstad and her husband, Lee of Caledonia, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 21, at 11 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in LaCrosse with Rev. Richard Pamperin officiating.

Entombment with military honors will be held in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Memorials may be given to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of LaCrosse is assisting the family with arrangements.
