Dennis Briest, 68, of rural Arlington, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gaylord.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday at Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord, and continues one hour before services at the church.

Edwin J. Hahn, 91, of Gaylord, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord, with burial at the church cemetery.
Visitation is 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord, is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; daughter and son-in-law, Colletta and Wallace Wierson of Excelsior; grandson, Arick Wierson of Sao Paulo, Brazil; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Edna Manthey.
He was born Dec. 6, 1907, in Sibley Township, Sibley County, to Charles L. (Karl) Hahn and Anna Franke. He graduated from Gaylord High School in 1927, and was a member of the state championship basketball team in 1926. He married Irene Penk on Nov. 15, 1934, in Gibbon. They farmed in Sibley County, rural Gaylord, until 1973, when they moved to Gaylord. He drove a school bus for Gaylord Public Schools from 1955-1972. They became residents of Amberfield Apartments in 1994. He became a resident of Gaylord Lakeview Home in 1996. He was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord, where he served as an elder and a member of the finance board.

Alma K. Alsleben, 89, of Arlington Good Samaritan Center, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999 in Arlington.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Auburn, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord, and will continue one hour before services at the church.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Duane Bussler of rural Glencoe, Marilyn and Raymond Hahn of Gaylord; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Erna Henke of Gaylord, Delma Boese of Gaylord; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, on Aug. 8, 1943; brothers, Otto and Elmer Hahn; and sisters, Emma Polzin, Louise Franke and Ella Stark.
She was born April 15, 1910, in New Auburn Township, Sibley County, to August and Louisa (Alsleben) Hahn. She attended District No. 48 schools in rural Gaylord. She married Alfred Alsleben on Oct. 11, 1927, in New Auburn. They lived on a farm west of New Auburn. In 1943, she moved to New Auburn. She worked as a cook at New Auburn Public Schools, and she worked at Fairway Grocery Store, New Auburn, and Green Giant in Glencoe. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Auburn, and WELCA, and she taught Sunday school for 25 years. She was a member and past president of the New Auburn Senior Citizens and a charter member and past president of the Wonder Club of New Auburn.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born Sept. 2, 1931, in New Ulm to Alvin and Alice (Rennek) Briest. He graduated from Gaylord High School in 1949. He farmed with his brother in Sibley and Kelso townships. He retired in 1993. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gaylord.

Marian Guemmer, 74, of 800 S. Washington St., New Ulm, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Lafayette Good Samaritan Center after a lengthy illness with cancer.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and continues 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, and r one hour before the service Friday at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Morris " Morrie" Guemmer of New Ulm; sons-in-law, Marilyn and Hal Gimbert of Rochester, and Debra and J.W. Nelson of Greeley, Colo.; grandsons, Willie Wurtz, Warren Wurtz, Ben Prybylski and Jared Nelson; great- grandsons, William Wurtz, and Joseph Wurtz; sister, Esther Becker of North Mankato; brother, Harold Muesing of Nicollet; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, LeRoy and Betty Setterman of Gaylord; and Margaret Lueck of Lester Prairie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Wilbert Poehler; daughter, Darlene Wurtz; brother, Arthur Muesing; sister, Gertrude Voeltz and two sisters in infancy; and one grandson.
She was born March 22, 1925, in New Ulm to Frederich and Louise (Pehling) Muesing. She graduated from Nicollet High School and attended Mankato Commercial College. She married Wilbert Poehler on May 27, 1945 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. They farmed for a few years near Courtland. Then they moved to New Ulm where they owned and operated the Weneeda Cafe and Bakery. Wilbert died in February of 1966. On July 16, 1971 she married Morris "Morrie" Guemmer at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. She worked for various retail stores in New Ulm until her retirement in 1974. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society or St. Paul's Lutheran School Fund.

Frances Hoff, 90, of Eden Prairie, formerly of Mankato and Fairfax, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Memorial service is 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax, with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato is handling arrangements.
She is survived by son, Dan T. Ryerson and his wife Carrol of Eden Prairie; daughter, Mary Hanna and her husband Rick of Mankato; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both her husbands, and eight brothers and sisters.
She was born Nov. 2, 1908, in Aberdeen, S.D., to Isaac and Frances (Johnson) Hopes. She married Nelson R. Ryerson in 1937 in Iowa, He died in 1945. She married Morris K. Hoff in Redwood Falls in 1946. He died in 1977. She graduated from Rock Island (Ill.) High School. After graduation, she moved to Redwood Falls. She moved to Sacred Heart in 1951 and Redwood Falls in 1962. She retired from owning and operating a dry goods store in Canby in 1972 and moved back to Fairfax in 1975. She moved to Mankato in 1996. She worked as a sewing instructor, antique dealer, fabric store owner, legal secretary, and was employed by Renville, Brown and Redwood counties in the Register of Deeds offices. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato.

Audrey Renner, of Santa Rosa, Calif., formerly of Springfield, died Sunday in Santa Rosa.
Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Chapel in Springfield.
Visitation is 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral chapel.
She is survived by her sister, Kathy Renner of Rohnert Park, Calif., brother, Steve and wife Marie Renner of Missoula, Mont.; niece, Heidi Renner of Missoula, Mont., and nephew, Steve and wife Tuesday Renner of Eddington, Maine.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was born Aug. 14, 1938, in Springfield to Arnold and Coletha (Geschwindt) Renner. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1956. She worked for Forester Furniture Store in Springfield for 20 years as a bookkeeper. She did volunteer work for the United Methodist Church. In 1976 she moved to Rohnert Park, Calif., living there until her marriage in 1977, when the couple moved to Santa Rosa, Calif. She continued to work as a bookkeeper, spending most of the next 20 years at Cal Coast Credit Agency.

Vincent E. Hagg, 74, of Roseville and formerly of Winthrop, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999.
Funeral services were held Oct. 15 at the Mueller-Bies Funeral Home with burial in the Rose Lawn Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Deloris; son, David; daughter, Susan Skarda and husband Bill; grandson, Jason Huspek and his wife Julie; great-granddaughters, Alexzandria and Haily Huspek; sisters, other relatives and many friends.
He was born to Hilding and Marion (Hall) Hagg in Winthrop on Sept. 3, 1925. He graduated from Winthrop High School.
Edna Patterson, 89, 503 N. Jefferson, New Ulm, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Lafayette.
Arrangements are pending with Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm.

Ronald 'Ron' Stevensen, 54, of 1131 Ely Ave. in Gibbon died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999 at his home.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon with burial in the Riverside Cemetery in Madelia. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the National Guard of New Ulm and St. James.
Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and continues one hour before the service Friday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Stevensen of Gibbon; mother, Arlene Stevensen of Madelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Ron Pommerening of Vermillion; Brenda and Duane Wertz of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Renee, Ashley and Derek Wertz, and Travis, Zachary and Christopher Pommerening; great granddaughter, Kyla Jo Blackwell; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and James Sorenson of Madelia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Stevensen, Duane and Nancy Stevensen, and David and Mary Stevensen all of Madelia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Stevensen; infant twin children, Brian and Sherri Stevensen; and an infant son, Scott Stevensen; sister-in-law, Virginia Stevensen; and nephew, Brad Stevensen.
He was born on Nov. 27, 1944, in Madelia to Jacob and Arlene (Jacobe) Stevensen. In 1963 he joined the Minnesota National Guard and served for six years. He married Joanne Macho on Feb. 20, 1965 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm. They lived in Madelia, Lakeville and Gibbon. He had been employed as a truck driver for 29 years at various trucking companies, most recently for R & E Enterprises of Mankato. He retired due to illness. He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon and was a member of the National Truckers Association.

Theresa Mary Sanders, 80, died Thursday, October 21, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Sunday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Karen and Milo Bjerke of Byron, Sandy Garrett of Litchfield Park, Ariz., Kathy and Larry Allen of Vernon Center, Linda and Brian Dempsey of St. James; son Scott Sanders and fiance Amy Ziemer of St. James. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; sister Frances Beck of St. James; sister-in-law, Sylvia Hoscheid of St. James; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1988; her parents; brothers Frank and Joseph; sister-in-law Gertrude Hoscheid; brother-in-law Verne Beck.
She was born Feb. 14, 1919 in St. James Township, Watonwan County to John and Elizabeth (Sandmeyer) Hoscheid. She attended District 22 country school in Nelson Township and was later employed at several places in and around St. James. On Feb. 15,1942 she married William Sanders in Mankato. They lived in Long Lake Township, where they farmed for several years. In 1959, they moved to St. James. She worked at Tony Downs Foods, where she was on the production line for over 36 years until retiring in 1993.

Walter Elvin, 71, of Worthington, formerly of St. James, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999 at Worthington Regional Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Worthington, with private family burial following.
Benson's Funeral Home, Worthington, is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta; daughters, Sandy Bents and husband Calvin of Rushmore, Lois Martens of Chandler, Ariz., Vida Iten and husband Larry and Arlene Lowe and husband Kevin, all of Worthington; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Vida Altemus of Norwalk, Ohio, Marie Bates of Riverside, Calif., Anita and husband Vince McGowan of Johnstown, Penn. and Carole and husband Albert Ahern of Madelia; and brother Raymond (Chick) and wife Dagny Elvin of St. James.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter.
He was born Oct. 12, 1928, in St. James, to Charles and Sarah Williams Elvin. He graduated from St. James High School in 1947. He started working on the Omaha, St. Paul and Minneapolis Railroad in June 1947. He married Alberta (Bobbie) Mogenson on March 17, 1949 in St. James. They moved to Worthington in 1951, and he began working for Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He retired in December 1991. He was a member of the United Transportation Union and First Lutheran Church, Worthington.
