David F. Eimermann

David Eimermann, 64, of Prior Lake, formerly of Jordan, died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at his residence.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Dec. 30, at 10 a.m. at Calvary cemetery in Jordan.

Ballard Sunder Funeral Home in Jordan provided arrangements.

Lucille C. Schmitz

Lucille Schmitz, 97, of New Prague, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010 at Queen of Peace Hospital, New Prague.

Lucille was born Oct. 30, 1913 in Cedar Lake Township, the daughter of John H. and Bridget (Ryan) O’Hern. She attended St. Catherine Scott County District School and New Prague High School. She moved to New Market after her marriage to Gregory S. Schmitz on Sept. 2, 1942 at St. Catherine Church. In 1983 she moved to New Prague and on April 30, 1983 she married Frederick F. Beuch at St. Nicholas Church.

A housewife, Lucille was very active in community affairs and church work at New Market.

She is survived by sisters-in-law, Estelle Hill of St. Paul and Phil O’Hern of Prior Lake; many nieces and nephews.

Besides husbands Gregory S. Schmitz and Frederick F. Beuch, she is preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters, Elmer O’Hern, Ethel Beuch, Lawrence O’Hern and Francis Hill.

Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in New Market, with the Rev. James Adams officiating. Pallbearers included Chad Henry, Jason Henry, Kaylee Henry, Nathan Henry, Kelsey Henry and Matthew Stanczak. Interment at St. Nicholas Catholic cemetery, New Market. Visitation was held Monday, Dec. 27, from 4-7 p.m. at Bruzek Funeral Home, New Prague, and also one hour prior to service at the church.

Ruth Muriel (Simcox) Hilgers

Ruthy first graced this world on April 16, 1951, welcomed by her parents Min (Dahlke) and Murrell Simcox. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Zion United Church of Christ in Le Sueur. Growing up in Blakeley Township on the family farm, Ruthy was always full of fun. She had many fond memories playing outside, especially in the coulees and picking May flowers in the spring.

After high school, she worked many office jobs and most recently was office manager for American Family Insurance in Shakopee. On March 1, 1974 she married the love of her life, Frank Hilgers. They were blessed with four children, Pete, Mike, Lisa, and Shawn. The family had many fun times living in Jordan. Upon retirement, Ruth and Frank lived in a lovely lake home in Cleveland that they enjoyed very much. They also enjoyed camping at Rush River Park in Henderson.

Serving as an American Cancer Society volunteer, Ruthy also volunteered on the Zion Church Council, the Zion Altar Committee, Zion Prayer Chain, Jordaness Lions and was a Henderson Heritage Days street actress. Ruthy especially loved Pekarna Meats, ranch dressing, seafood salad and was the proud owner of Pepe, the poodle.

She was a wonderful babysitter, caregiver, great cook, faithful telephoner, card sender and friend to many. She had a special way with children and was especially proud of her grandchildren. Ruthy was a strong, prayerful, and courageous woman and once she set her mind to do something, she did it.

Ruthy Hilgers, 59, went to be with the angels in Heaven on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Loved and will always be missed, Ruthy is survived by her beloved husband, Frank of Cleveland; sons, Pete (Kim) Hilgers of Mosinee, WI, Mike (Kim) Hilgers, of Lake Elmo, MN, Shawn (Andrea) Hilgers of Henderson; daughter, Lisa (Jaime) Laughlin of Chanhassen; grandchildren, Kelsey, Madeline, Mikayla, Matthew, Amy, Luke, Andrew, Emma, Jeremy (Kristin), and Muriel; siblings, Jane Schuette, Mark Simcox; brother-in-law, Bob (Joan) Moody. She’s also survived by Frank’s sisters, Joan Schneider and Mary (Bob) Brown; faithful poodle, Pepe, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Ruthy is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; sister, Lynn Moody; brother-in-law Butch Schuette.

Visitation was Thursday, Dec. 30, from 4-8 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Jordan. Celebration of Life Service was Friday, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ, LeSueur, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Beth Benson officiated. Pallbearers included Matthew Hilgers, Nathan Muehlenhardt, John Breunig, Doug Nachbar and Cody Gerold. Ruthy’s honorary pallbearers were Kelsey, Madeline, Mikayla, Amy, Andrew, Emma, and Muriel. The interment was at Schlegel cemetery in Blakeley Township.

We thank the Lord for the life of our dear Ruthy.

William E. Dorn

William Dorn, 62, of Savage, died Tuesday, Dec.14, 2010 at Fairview Ridges Hospital, Burnsville.

He was born in Shakopee on Sept. 2, 1948 to Mack and Florence (Boegeman) Dorn. William and Bruna (Fracasso) were married May 9, 1970 in Savage. He was founder of Dorn Construction and Dorn Properties. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Bruna; son, Kelly (Wendy); daughter, Sabrina; grandchildren, Ryan, Ricky, Justin and Derek; mother, Florence Dorn; sisters, LaVonne McLaughlin and LaVerne Geis. preceded in death by father, Mack and sister, Mary Ellen.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, Dec. 19, from 5:30-8 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savage, and also one hour prior to the Mass. Mass of Christian Burial is Monday, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Tix officiating. Interment at Fort Snelling National cemetery with Honors.

Magdalen C. Kroyer

Magdalen Kroyer, 97, of Shakopee, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at St. Gertrude’s Health Center, Shakopee.

She was born in Jordan on Oct. 29, 1913 to Jacob and Theresa (Kersting) Klehr. She married Sylvester Kroyer on Nov. 9, 1931 in Marystown. Magdalen worked as an interior designer and beautician and also drove the portable feed mill truck with her husband as they provided feed mill service to farmers at their farms.

Magdalen was a member of St. Ann’s Society of the Catholic Aid Association of St. Mary of the Purification Catholic Church. She was known to her family as Daddy’s Girl as she shared many activities with her dad. Magdalen was a very religious woman and had many interests, including playing cards and bowling.

She is survived by daughter, Ginny (Gene) Hauer; daughter-in-law, Barbara Kroyer; sister, Lorraine Borka; sister-in-law, Agnes Klehr; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband; son, Edward; infant grandson, Bradley; 10 brothers and sisters.

Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 14, from 4-8 p.m. at the McNearney Funeral Home, Shakopee.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Purification Catholic Church, Marystown. Officiating at the funeral service was the Rev. Peter Wittman. Pallbearers included her 12 great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Jason and Bradley O’Donoghue, Angela Kroyer-Hennen, Jarett, Jordan, Joshua and Brianna Heller, Billy and Scott Hauer, Brandon and Nicholas Swanson. Interment at St. Mary’s cemetery, Marystown.

LeRoy “Bob” H. Kerkow

Born on May 19, 1923 in St. Lawrence Township, MN, Bob was the son of Charles and Catherine (Ricklick) Kerkow. He grew up in Jordan and attended Jordan Schools. From 1956 - 1959, Bob owned and operated “The Corner Bar” in Jordan. Employed with the City of Jordan in the public works division, Bob served his community for many years. He was known best for clearing the snow off the mill pond for the kids to ice skate. Bob also worked in the factory at Advanced Machine for over 20 years.

In his spare time, Bob loved music with a special focus on polka music. He was the drummer in “The Friendly Trio” band for many years. Bob was also known as quite the polka dancer. Dancing was a big part of his life; he would attend dances 2-3 times a week even up to two years ago. Bob enjoyed sports and loved to watch boxing and baseball. Years ago, he would sit in the bleachers cheering on the Jordan Brewers Baseball Team. Known for his rich black hair with a wave in front, Bob was very meticulous about his appearance. He was very independent, but always had a smile on his face. Bob had a caring and friendly disposition.

Bob Kerkow, of Northeast Minneapolis, formerly of Jordan, was 87 years young when he passed away the early morning of Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee.

Bob is loved and will be deeply missed by son, Rick Kerkow of Minneapolis; daughter, Bonny (Jeff) McMurchie of Bloomington; grandchildren, Sean Haas, Katie McMurchie and Molly McMurchie; great-grandson, Sean Haas Jr.; sister, Lorriane Sobiech of Jordan; many other relatives and friends. Bob is preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Brinkhous; grandson, Jeffrey Haas; parents; brother, Harold Kerkow; sister, Ruth Hammack.

Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 14, from 4-7 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Jordan, and also one hour prior to the service at church.

Celebration of Life Service was Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Jordan. Pastor John Meyer officiated. Inurnment at Spirit Hill cemetery in Jordan.

James “Jim” Norwood Meisinger

Born Feb. 2, 1950 in Minneapolis, Jim was the son of Norwood H. and Joan A. (Olsen) Meisinger. Growing up in Bloomington, Jim was the oldest of five children. As a young boy, Jim loved spending the summers in Princeton, MN at his grandparents’ dairy farm.

During his school years, Jim played hockey and track for Bloomington Lincoln High School. He enjoyed motorcycling, working on cars, especially his Charger and convertible. In 1968, Jim graduated from Lincoln High School. After high school, Jim proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Stationed in Germany, Jim held 14 different licenses to operate different equipment and drive certain vehicles. In his spare time, Jim was a bartender for the local military base.

Enjoying the passion for cars and speed, Jim raced Enduro at Raceway Park in Shakopee of many years. Throughout Jim’s life, he worked for Beacon Van Lines, Rosemount Industries, CertainTeed and Mid America Plastics. He also was a reservist for the Scott County Sheriff’s Department. Still serving his country proudly, Jim served as the Commander for the American Legion of Prior Lake and First Vice for the American Legion in Shakopee. He was also a member of the Eagles Club in Shakopee.

Being a jokester, Jim had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved fishing and had a real deep passion for deer hunting. His true passion in life was his four children, Jim, Jeannie, Shanna and Anthony. He treasured their times together, especially the bonfires and the gatherings in the garage.

Jim met his soul mate, Pamela Tomason, and their love grew for each other. On July 15, 2000 they exchanged wedding vows in an intimate family backyard wedding. Together they enjoyed traveling to California and visiting family in Alexandria.

Jim always put others first before his own needs. He was 60 years young when he passed away unexpectedly in the late morning of Sunday, Dec.12, 2010 at his home in Prior Lake.

Jim is loved and will be deeply missed by wife, Pam; children, Jim Meisinger of Shakopee, Jeannie Packer of Blaine, Shanna Meisinger of Shakopee, Anthony Meisinger of Shakopee; stepchildren, Adam (Laura) Chambers of California, Andrea (fiancé` Jim) Chambers of California, Tim Chambers; parents, Norwood and Joan Meisinger; many grandchildren; sisters, Lynn (Dan) Duerr of Richfield, Jan (Jon) Volimas of Lakeville, Sue (Joe) Timmer of Eden Prairie; brother, Tom Meisinger of Bloomington; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 16, from 4-8 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant St. S.E., Prior Lake. A private family inurnment will be at Fort Snelling National cemetery in Minneapolis, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at Prior Lake State Bank in the name of James Meisinger Trust.

Sally Ann Holm

Sally Ann Holm, 66, of Shakopee, formerly of Jordan, passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 at Friendship Manor, Shakopee.

She was born Feb. 5, 1944 in Breckenridge, MN and she grew up near Milnor, ND. Her parents were Ralph and Betty (Whitaker) Bussman. She married Frederick Holm on May 31, 1969 in Fargo, ND.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Holm; parents; brother-in-law, Ardell Bjugstad.

Sally will be loved and forever missed by her son, Robert Holm of Shakopee; daughter, Teressa Holm; siblings, Jeanette Bjugstad of Rapid City, SD, Robert (Louise) Bussman of Milnor, ND, Joyce (John) Stende of West Fargo, ND, Patty (Mark) Benson of Arvilla, ND and her special dog, Flicker.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 21, from 10-11 a.m. with the Celebration of Life Service following at 11 a.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Jordan. Interment was Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Ft. Snelling National cemetery, Minneapolis.
