Schroeder, David Lee
March 15, 1937 - October 15, 2011
Schroeder, David Lee Born on 3/15/37 to Roy and Edith Schroeder in St. Paul, MN. He grew up in St. Paul, attended Wilson High School (56), and graduated from Hamline University. He served in the U.S. Army and worked for the State Dept. He devoted his career to education, retiring as the founding president of Dakota County Technical College in 1999. David leaves his legacy of hard work, Eagle Scout rank, and lifelong learning to his family and to all he has inspired over the years. He passed away peacefully on Saturday surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Terry Davis Schroeder; his brother Roy (Marilyn); his children, Aaron (Louann) Schroeder, Deidra (Bradley) Huff, Adley (Michael) Walschlager, and Suzanne (Bob) Heitzman; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, 10/19/11 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 8400 France Ave. S., Bloomington with a gathering for family and friends one hour prior.

Smith, Ronald Howard
June 16, 1946 - October 14, 2011
Ronald H. Smith, 65, of Big Lake went to be with his Lord, peacefully, Friday Oct. 14, surrounded by his family at home. Ron was born in Austin, June 16, 1946, the son of Howard and Nettie Smith, and was raised in Lansing. On Oct. 17, 1964, he married Mildred Kaye Andersen. They were together 17 years and had three children. During that time Ron worked for Tempo, Hormel Foods and Combined Insurance. On Feb. 11, 1989, Ron Married Pam Ihrke. He and Pam resided in Plainview, Rochester, and for the past 12 years, Big Lake. Ron worked for Sunrise Assisted Living, and Hoglund Bus Company. Ron was an avid sportsman and looked forward each year to hunting deer with his crew of family and friends. He relished every opportunity to go fishing and especially enjoyed his weekends with Pam at “the shack.” Ron also enjoyed playing cards, golf and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Pam, of Big Lake; son, Raymie (Sarah) of Austin; son, Tim (Val) of West Concord; daughter, Kayla (Bill) of Hutchinson; one brother, Randy (Kim) of Blooming Prairie; three sisters: Phyllis of Eagle, Idaho; Dee of Dallas; and Shirley of Bettendorf, Iowa. Ron had seven grandchildren, Nick, Tannis, Treyvis, Grace, Ada, Carter and Ella. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sharon. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday Oct. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Svea Hill Community Covenant Church in Big Lake; 16392 235th Ave, Big Lake, MN 55309. Geary, Robert Craig

Age 58, passed away peacefully on Oct. 12 in his Plymouth, Minn., apartment. Robert was a graduate of Mankato High School and a longtime employee of Power Supply and Equipment of Bloomington, Minn., and Swanson Flo Systems, after merger of companies. Robert was preceded in death by his mother, and by his brother, Donald. He is survived by father Wayne of Mankato and brother Richard of Oceanside, Calif.

Memorial Service Wednesday, October 19 at 12:30 PM at Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel, Hwy 5 & 55, Bloomington Rd. Exit, Ft. Snelling, MN. Burial following service at Fort Snelling National cemetery.

Wiest, Muriel Ruth

Age 96, of Minneapolis, passed away Oct. 11, 2011 of dementia. Muriel was a long time teacher at Roosevelt High School in Mpls. preceded in death by parents, Anna & John Wiest of Philadelphia, PA and eight siblings. Survived by her brother, Quentin Wiest of Ridgewood, NJ and numerous nieces & nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 4 at 2:00 PM in the Border Chapel at Hennepin United Methodist Church, 511 Groveland Ave., Mpls, MN 55403-3223 Phone 612-871-5303. Retired after 33 years at AT&T. Loved family, friends, the outdoors and bartending. Matthew touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with. Fricke, Lucy Cutler Sargent

Fricke, Lucy Cutler Sargent at age 96 slipped away peacefully early Aug. 6. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Walter "Chip" Fricke, and survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Walter and Kathy of Boulder, Colo.; Alfred and Sandy of Half Moon Bay, Calif.; Leonard and Pam of St. Paul, Minn.; five grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, Elizabeth, Stuart and Allison; and five great-grandchildren, Jake, Lindsey, Rebecca, Olivia and Alexander. Lucy was a graduate of Summit School in St. Paul and Vassar College, N.Y. She was an avid volunteer with the Junior League, the New Century Club and various arts organizations in St. Paul, including the Minnesota Museum of Art and the St. Paul Council of Arts and Sciences. She also contributed, as a board member of the Ramsey Hill Association and the Old Town Restorations, Inc., to the rejuvenation of that historic neighborhood. Lucy will be best remembered for her love of family and inquisitive interest in the world around her. She celebrated family reunions at the lake cabin with her clan and showered love and attention on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor, a ready wit and a contagious chuckle. Lucy was a native and long-time resident of St. Paul and her knowledge of the history of Summit Avenue and the Crocus Hill neighborhood was unparalleled. Lucy travelled far and wide visiting nearly every state in the union, as well as Europe, the Middle East and the Far East; she filled dozens of travel journals with her observations and experiences. She spent more than 20 winters in Green Valley, Ariz., where she reignited her interested in painting watercolors, which received local recognition. Arrangements are pending for a private family celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Minnesota Museum of American Art, 408 St. Peter Street, St. Paul, MN 55102.
