Florence E. Britt, 88, of Wayzata, formerly of Wabasso, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Hillcrest Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Wayzata.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Vesta with burial in the Vesta Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Kulow Funeral Service in Echo is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by sisters, Evelyn Sackl of Vesta and Altha Simning of El Cajon, Calif.; sister-in-law, Mary Sakl of Minneapolis; and seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Ervin and Leonard Sakl; sisters Viola Gertjejansen, Ione Starr, Irene Johnson.
She was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Wabasso to Joseph and Mathilda (Kurtz) Sackl. She attended country school followed by nurses training in Marshall. She worked at a T.B. sanitarium in northern Minnesota before moving to Seattle, Wash. where she met and married James Britt. They moved to San Francisco, Calif. where she continued to work in various nursing homes until retiring. She moved back to Minnesota in 1986 and lived at Hillcrest Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Grant W. Anderson, 79, of Winthrop, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at Glencoe Area Health Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County, with burial in the church cemetery. The Winthrop Honor Guard will conduct full military rites.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
He is survived by brothers and their spouses, Morel and Margaret of Gibbon, Marvin and Maxine of South Shore, S.D., Vernon of Minneapolis, Charles and Marian of Gaylord, Robert and Margaret of Apple River, Ill.; sisters and their spouses, Marie and Edgar Abraham of Gaylord, Joanne and Earl Messner of Anoka, Helen Schlottman of Stafford, Va., Joyce and Felix Schloegel of Roseville; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Harlan.
He was born Jan. 31, 1920, in New Sweden Township, Nicollet County, to Ernest and Grace (Olson) Anderson. He entered the U.S. Army during World War II in 1942 and fought in the Aleutian Islands, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, the Rhineland, southern France, and in central Europe. He received a number of decorations and citations, including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He worked for the state highway department for over 20 years and retired from MnDOT in 1982. He entered the Glencoe Area Health Care Center's long-term care unit in 1991. He was a member of Bernadotte Lutheran Church. He was a member of Winthrop American Legion Post 314, Winthrop V.F.W., and the 1st Special Service Force Association.

Melba Tlam, 96, of Lamberton died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000 at Valley View Manor in Lamberton.
Services will be 10:30a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Lamberton with burial in the Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by stepson, Elvin Tlam of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; stepgrandchildren, Tom Tlam of Bainbridge Island, Wash., Cheryl Tlam-Foster and spouse Harold of Kenya, Africa; step great-granddaughter, Anna Foster; sister, Viola Reif of Bismarck, N.D.; brothers and spouses, Theodore and Ura Kissner of Lamberton, Robert and Wilma Kissner of Jeffers; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William in 1979; sisters, Agonia Borchert, Luella Matzke.
She was born April 23, 1903, in Highwater Township, Cottonwood County, to Louis and Anna (Marti) Kissner. She attended c school in Germantown Township. She attended North Dakota Business College in the 1930s where she also worked at Woolworth's. She returned to Minnesota in 1943, working at mercantile stores in Lamberton and Jeffers. She married William P. Tlam on March 22, 1952, in Jeffers. They farmed until retiring in the late 1960s. She remained in Jeffers until moving to Lamberton in 1983. She moved into Valley View Manor in 1997. She was a member of the Lamberton United Methodist Church.

Lloyl Fossum, 76, of Belview, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2000, in Sauk Rapids.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Belview with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday at the church and one hour prior to the service.
Sunset Funeral Home of Echo is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by sisters and brother-in-law, Opal Ingebretson of Inver Grove Heights, Ferne and Les Rakke of Sauk Rapids; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Oscar, Norris, Owen; sister, Dagmar Rebstock.
He was born June 12, 1923, in Kintire Township, Redwood County, to Oscar and Lena (Schjenken) Fossum. He attended District 10 school near Belview. He was a farm laborer and worked for Alvin Sander in his tiling business. He also worked for the maintenance department of the city of Belview. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Joseph J. Zenk, 82, of Olivia, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and continuing Friday 9-10 a.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters and spouses, Joan and Craig Zenk Woods of Kings Beach, Calif, Karen and Mark Baldwin of Longville, Peg and Mark Bitter of Hilo, Hawaii; sons and spouses, James and Dianne, J. Richard and Lorna, Steve and Maria Zenk, all of Danube; 14 grandchildren; sister and spouse, Dorothy and Ray Manderfeld of New Ulm; brother and spouse, Bob and Lois Zenk of Golden Valley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Sylvester, LeRoy, Lawrence, and Paul; and sister, Mary Reichling.
He was born May 6, 1917, in Remsen, Iowa, to Joseph and Margaret (Kennedy) Zenk. He moved to Sleepy Eye in 1926, attending St. Mary's Catholic School there. He enrolled at the University of Minnesota in 1936. He married Margaret Lang at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield in 1942. They farmed in the Sleepy Eye area until 1944 when they moved to a farm north of Olivia. He farmed in the Olivia and Danube area until retiring in 1980. In 1994 they moved into Olivia. He was manager of Zenk Farm Supply in Danube.

Twila L. Roiger, 49, of St. Clair died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato with burial in Glenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by husband, David of St. Clair; daughter and son-in-law, Nadine and Chandler Holland of St. Clair; son, Ben Roiger and his special friend Julie Sollstrom of Mankato; grand children, Spencer and Aidan Holland; mother, Marlyce Tews of New Ulm; sisters and brother-in-law Faith and Richard Johnson of Mankato, Carmen Williams of New Ulm, Dawn Tews and her special friend Randy Weber of Wells; brothers and sister-in-law, Lowell Lamond and Cindy Tews of Minneapolis, Craig Tews, John Tews and his fiance Trisha Regner, all of New Ulm; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Elaine Roiger; sister-in-law and spouse, Beth and John Gohr; brothers-in-law and their spouses, Douglas and Betty Roiger, all of New Ulm, Michael and Cheryl Roiger, of Syndey, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lowell Tews; brother, Nathan Tews; father-in-law, Donald Roiger.
She was born June 10, 1953, in Waverly, Iowa, to Lowell and Marlyce (Compart) Tews. She married David Roiger on Aug. 29, 1971, in New Ulm. She was employed by Carlson Craft for 18 years. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato.

Joanne Bode, 52, of Faribault, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Faribault.
Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
She is survived by her husband Howard; children, Tara and husband Rudy Blank of St. Louis, Mo., David of Bloomington, Ind., Kimberly of River Falls, Wis., and Alicia; parents, Erwin and Erna Eichhorst of Waldorf; brother Bradley and wife, Sherry Eichhorst of Verona, Wis.; and sisters, Laurie and husband Mike Manthe of Good Thunder and Pamela and husband Greig Hodgkins of Russell, Manitoba, Canada.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Kari Scharfe.
She was born Dec. 22, 1947, in Waseca, to Erwin and Erna (Gerdts) Eichhorst. She married Howard Bode on June 22, 1969, in Waldorf. She attended the University of Minnesota, Southern School of Agriculture, Waseca, and the University of Minnesota, St. Paul, where she studied home economics. She worked at Donahue's Greenhouse, Faribault. She and her family operated the Bode Family Sweet Corn business in Walcott Township for eight years.

Florence Haugly, 95, of Clara City, formerly of Vesta, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000 at Clara City Care Center.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Vesta, with burial in the City Cemetery, Vesta.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Sunset Funeral Home, Echo, and will continue Saturday one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her children, Lorraine Weberg of Maynard and Dr. Lawrence Haugly and his wife Ethel of North Mankato; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Oscar, Bert, Melvin, Andrew and Guy; sister Annie Nelson; two great-grandsons; and son-in-law Emil Weberg.
She was born July 18, 1904, in Palmyra Township, Renville County, to Bringle and Karie (Anderson) Tollefson. She married Spencer Haugly on March 18, 1928, in Palmyra Township. They farmed near Fairfax until 1931. They moved to rural Vesta in 1932 and farmed there until 1967, when they retired. They moved to Clara City in 1977. Spencer died on April 13, 1985. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Vesta, where she was active in Ladies Aid. She was a member of an Extension group.

Arthur E. "Fuzzy" Fussner, 88, of Franklin, formerly of Pilot Grove Township, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at Franklin Health Care Center.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Blue Earth, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church .
Patton Funeral Home, Blue Earth, is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Esther of Blue Earth and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
He was born Dec. 18, 1912, in New Ulm to John and Ella (Giese) Fussner. He graduated from New Ulm High School. He worked for several years at Schell's Brewery as a bookkeeper. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Esther E. Viland on Oct. 5, 1946, in New Ulm. The couple moved to the Blue Earth area in the late 1940s, where they farmed in Pilot Grove Township until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of Blue Earth American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Blue Earth Camera Club and Salem Lutheran Church, Pilot Grove Township.

Hans Petersen, 85, of Lamberton, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Valley View Apartments, Lamberton.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Sanborn, with burial and full military honors in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Saturday.
He is survived by his children, Larry and Dixie of Anchorage, Alaska, Darold and Sharon of Windom, Allan and Linda of Spicer, Karen and Ron Onken of Onamia, and Dale and Vicki of Lamberton; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Evie and husband Leon Lingle of Lamberton; and brother-in-law, Melvin and wife Evelyn Busse of Sanborn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Jeanette in 1975; brothers, Christian, Fred, Otto and Arnold; and sisters, Olga, Viola and Vivian.
He was born March 12, 1914, in Lamberton Township, Redwood County, to Otto and Kristine (Johansen) Petersen. He grew up in rural Lamberton and attended school in Lamberton. He worked on the family farm until he entered the U.S. Army, where he served in the 1st Infantry, 6th Division, during World War II. After his discharge he lived in the Lamberton and Sanborn area. He married Jeannette Busse on Feb. 7, 1946, in Germantown Township. They lived in Cottonwood County, rural Sanborn, where they farmed until retiring in 1974. In 1986 he moved to Sanborn. He moved to the Lamberton Apartments in December 1995. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sanborn, where he sang in the choir. He was past commander of the Colburn American Legion Post. He served on the Springfield Creamery Board and Sanborn Country School Board.

Walter Wels, 81, formerly of Nicollet died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000 at the Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue on Saturday for one hour prior to time of service at the church.
He is survived by a daughter, Leorda Wels of North Mankato; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Wayne Yost of Madison Lake; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Helen Wels of North Mankato and Kevin and Barbara Wels of Nicollet; five grandchildren, Steven and Laura Wels, Ian, Chrysta, and Mathew Hicks; two stepgrandchildren, Grace and James Thomas; and brothers, Herbert Wels and Harley Wels both of Nicollet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lucille on Nov. 13, 1995; brother Otto Wels; and a sister, Verna Boeck.
He was born March 19, 1918 in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County, to Martin and Meta (Lange) Wels. He served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945 serving in Europe. On Oct. 15, 1954, he married Lucille Struss at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland. They farmed in Nicollet Township, until 1981 when they retired. In 1997, he moved to Lake Crystal. He had been a resident of the St. Peter Community Health Care Center in St. Peter and most recently had been a resident of the Mankato Lutheran Home in Mankato. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet.
