Shirley sold Avon for 44 years and worked at Northwest Architectural Salvage for 25 years. Memorial service at Saint Mark Lutheran Church 550 West 7th St., St. Paul, on Monday, November 23, at 1PM.

Rimer, Richard "Dick" McKinley

Age 93, passed away early Saturday, November 14, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was the son of Dr. Sidney Rimer and Zura McKinley Rimer, brother of Dr. Robert Rimer, and husband of Elizabeth "Betty" Rimer, all deceased. Richard was a recent addition to the Twin Cities, and moved in 2011 to The Wellington in St. Paul to be near his daughter Margaret Wimberley and her family. During his lifetime Mr. Rimer was an inventor and a manufacturer, and held several patents associated with investment casting and metallurgy. He began a small foundry in Waterville, Ohio, in 1956, which grew to employ nearly 300 people before his retirement at the sale of the company. Shortly after his retirement, however, Richard began another, smaller foundry in Waterville, where he worked on and off. His abilities led him to work with numerous artists in Ohio, among them Joe Ann Cousino and Dominick Labino, helping them with the pouring of castings for sculpture as well as finding ways to produce colors in glass blowing. His innovative mind also led him to develop a method to cap off the broken tusks of elephants, and because of this was escorted to Africa at age 72 by representatives of the Toledo Zoo. In his earlier years, his knowledge of metals led him and his company to work with Texas Instruments in the processing of fine enough metals to be used in what was then a new invention, the calculator. Richard was a Veteran of the US Navy; a Mason; a member of the Rotary Club, the First Congregational Church in Toledo, OH, the Ohio State Alumni Association, The Inverness Club of Toledo; and the recipient of the 1992 National Entrepreneur of the Year Award, which he received in Washington, D.C. Along with Betty, his wife of 54 years, Richard was a world traveler and one of the first visitors to China once tourism was allowed; and was especially pleased with having caught fish in the Arctic Ocean. Richard and Betty were active in charity work during their marriage in Toledo, Ohio, and were often seen side by side at numerous functions. Richard is survived by his daughter, Margaret Rimer Wimberley, his son-in-law, Michael Wimberley, their daughters, Sophia and Rose, as well as his nephews William (Sue) Rimer, Richard (Penny) Rimer, and Scott Rimer, of Fairbanks, Alaska and Papamoa, New Zealand, and great-nephews Tullen Burns, of Clemson, South Carolina and Lachlan Rimer, of New Zealand. Mr. Rimer's family requests that any memorial contributions made in his honor be sent to the Ohio State University Foundation. The memorial service will be for family only.

Age 64 of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on Nov. 12, 2015. Joseph was born in Minneapolis on Oct. 3, 1951. A musician to the core, Joseph was an accomplished percussionist who played with a number of Twin Cities bands over the years, including the soul/funk/ R&B group the Lights Out Committee. Joseph is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Garcia, Sr.; mother, Andrea Garcia; and brother, Tino Garcia. Joseph will be missed by his loving wife, Gena Vasquez-Garcia; son, Joseph (Suenita) Garcia III; granddaughters Nayana and Nilaya; six siblings; mother-in-law, Jackie (Rich) Osuna; and countless other loving relatives and friends. An hour-long visitation will be held to celebrate the life of Joseph at 10 am on Thursday, Nov. 19, followed by mass at 11 am, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 401 Concord Street, St. Paul, Minn.

Age 89 of Eagan. Jeanne finally went to heaven to be with her beloved Ken. preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Grindle. Survived by daughter, Lana (Roger) Cheatham, and son Gary M. Grindle. Deeply loved by her grandchildren, Amber (Micah) Ahlgren and Jereb (Anne) Cheatham; and great grandchildren, Caleb, Zachary, Jack, Aylah and Charley.
