Age 56 of Minneapolis. Died unexpectedly on April 22, 2016. The youngest of 13 children, she and her best friend and twin sister Colleen, truly navigated life together, even choosing the same lifelong career in the field of nursing. preceded in death by parents, Eileene and WM. Myron; brother, Bill; and niece Katie. Survived by children, Sean McKee and Erin McKee VanSlooten (Will Mathews) and her first grandchild due in August; brothers, Michael (Joyce), Barry (Mary), Myron (Carol), Patrick (Joan), Thomas, Robert (Elizabeth); sisters, Mary, Joan (Bill Fabian), Eileen McKee (Dennis Philander), Teresa, Colleen Espinosa; sister-in-law, Andrea; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mass of Resurrection on Wednesday, 4/27, at 11 AM with visitation one hour prior at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 1500 Franklin Ave. SE, Minneapolis, MN. In Lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Erin McKee.
Ross, Diane (nee Gilmore)

Age 84 of St Paul, passed away on April 22, 2016. She had recently been diagnosed with advanced esophageal cancer. preceded in death by parents Iris and Harold Gilmore and husband W. Braxton Ross. Survived by son John Ross, daughter Annie Yetter (Steve), grandchildren Kathryn and George Yetter and her kitty, Misty. Born Oct. 20, 1931 and raised in Denver, Diane spent every summer as a child and young adult at Geneva Glen, the camp her parents directed in the foothills outside of Denver. She met her husband, Braxton, at East High School, and they married
in 1954. As a graduate of Smith College in 1952 she learned that women are as important, as capable, and as valuable as men. She returned to Denver to teach high school English. After her marriage she and Braxton moved to Japan where he served in Army Counter Intelligence and she taught ESL and worked as librarian on the base. They lived with a Japanese family with whom she maintained a life long friendship. Diane's love of teaching continued her entire life in Chicago, Madison, and most recently through ESL creative writing classes at Roseville Community Center for 12 years. She reached out to people wherever she lived through her love of other cultures, singing, gardening, writing and a genuine interest in others. Her family expresses heartfelt gratitude to HealthPartners Hospice and particularly to friends Hal, Mary, Russ, Sherrie, Jessica and Paul for their compassionate care. Memorials made out to either: Geneva Glen Camp, P.O. Box 248, Indian Hills CO 80454 or Unity Unitarian, 733 Portland Ave., St. Paul 55104 preferred. Memorial service to be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 2 pm at Unity Unitarian Church, St. Paul.

Served with the U.S. Army from 1951-1957 in the U.S., Korea and Japan. Graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of MN in Mathematics and Anthropology, 1961. Worked in the computer industry for 27 years, retiring after 21 years at Control Data Corp. Preceded by father, Raymond L. Ernst; mother, Dora B. (Hair) Ernst; sister, Janice Mlenar; and beloved wife of 56 years, Joan (Quamme) Ernst. Survived by son, Joel (Jean) Ernst; daughter, Julie (Tim) Allen; grandchildren, Hannah, Brittany, Isabel, and Charlie. Service Monday, April 25, 11am with fellowship one hour prior at Salem Covenant Church, 2655 - 5th St. NW, New Brighton, MN 55112.
