Agnes Lenore Halgunseth, 103

Agnes Lenore Halgunseth, 103, died Dec. 25, 2009, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minn., after suffering a fall in her apartment.

Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31 at the Boulger Funeral Home, 123 10th St. S., Fargo, N.D.

Visitation will be at 2 p.m. the day of the funeral.

Agnes was married to Oliver Halgunseth of Abercrombie, N.D., until his death in 1978. She was member of the Abercrombie Evangelical Lutheran Church for more than 50 years and served that congregation in a number of roles including choir member, Sunday school teacher, and president of the Ladies Aide.

She wrote and performed faith-based inspirational readings on a local radio station. She worked commercially as a cook and in the 1970s won the title of Mrs. North Dakota in the Wesson Oil Chicken cooking contest. She represented North Dakota in the national competition.

Agnes possessed a quick wit, as well as a loving heart. Local seniors may recall her riotous stage renderings of the old Norwegian skit “The Sugna Chatting.” She will be remembered for her compassionate counseling to friends in need and for the excellent example she set.

She is survived by: her three sons, Oliver Jr. (wife Sharon) of Utica, Mich., Gary (Aurora) of Boerne, Texas, Ronald of Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Agnes is preceded in death by: her husband and all of her brothers and sisters.

Robert W. Krensing III, 34

Robert W. Krensing III, 34, Fergus Falls, Minn., died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, as a result of a car accident.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30 at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls, with the Rev. Jon Olson officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29 at Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, with a public prayer service at 6:30 p.m.; also visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are with Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls.

Robert was born Jan. 8, 1975, in Graceville, Minn., the son of Richard and Dianne (Schwagel) Krensing. He attended Beardsley (Minn.) Valley High School and graduated in 1993. After high school he continued his education at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, N.D., completing his degree in auto mechanics in 1995.

On June 15, 1996, he married Keli Griess at Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, Minn. The couple resided in Fergus Falls where he worked at several area businesses, including Northern Contours, Tri-State Tire and Heikes Advance Auto. In 2007 he began working at Minnesota Motors and was currently employed there.

He was a member of the Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Uninvitieds Car Club. He enjoyed cars, attending car shows and bowling. His passion in life was spending time with his wife, daughters and family.

Survivors include: his wife, Keli; three daughters, Allison, Kaitlyn and Myia, all of Fergus Falls; father, Richard (Bev) Krensing of Browns Valley, Minn.; mother, Dianne Krensing of Wahpeton; sister, Kim (Todd) Kaufman of Webster, S.D., and their children, Emily, Ella, Emari; grandmother, Alice Krensing of Browns Valley; in-laws, Sheldon and Helen Griess of Park Rapids; brother-in-law, Kirk (Keri) Griess of Vacaville, Calif., and their children, Kadi, Kaci and Kole; sisters-in-law, Kari (Jason) Richter of West Fargo, N.D., and their children, Radin and Landis; Kaye (Steve) Soderberg of Park Rapids and their son, Jackson; grandfather-in-law, Tony Griess of Park Rapids; numerous aunt, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were: his maternal grandparents, Norbert and Esther Schwagel; paternal grandfather, Robert Krensing Sr.; uncle, Robert Krensing II; uncle, Kenneth Schwagel and aunt, Judy Schwagel.

Ardis Diede, 50

Ardis Diede, 50, Breckenridge, Minn., died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at St. Francis Nursing Home, Breckenridge.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at the United Church of Christ, Wahpeton, N.D., with the Rev. Ken Adams officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, with a prayer service at 7 pm. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Ardis was born Feb. 2, 1959, at Ashley, N.D., to Edwin and Lenora (Kempf) Buchholz. She grew up and attended school in Ashley. On Oct. 15, 1974, she was united in marriage to Donald Diede at Aberdeen, S.D. They later moved to Wishek, N.D., where she worked at a restaurant. In 1988 they moved to Wahpeton and in 1992 the couple moved to Breckenridge. Ardis attended two years at North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) and studied graphic arts. Later she worked at The Globe Gazette. Ardis was the director of the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce. She then attended NDSCS for two years for computer information systems (CIS).

While going to school for CIS she began working at St. Francis Medical Center in Breckenridge. She worked there until her health failed in April 2009.

Ardis enjoyed crafts, reading and using her computer skills. She had collections of various items and also enjoyed camping and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by: her husband, Donald Diede of Breckenridge; her daughters, Erika Diede of Fergus Falls, Minn., Angela (Steve) Wagner of Fargo, N.D., Adriane Diede of Fargo, and Miti Aiello of San Diego, Calif.; her grandchildren, Alan Hansen, Jenessa Hansen and Brodi Smith; her mother, Lenora Buchholz of Breckenridge; her sister, Ione (Richard) Auclair of Mesa, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her father, Edwin Buchholz; and her brother, Lester Edwin in infancy.

Nola M. Christensen, 87

Nola M. Christensen, 87, Weslaco, Texas, died Dec. 28, 2009.

A memorial service will be at 4:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 4, 2010 at Grace Community Church in Pharr, Texas. A family memorial service will be later this spring in Minneapolis, Minn.

Burial services will be at Lakewood cemetery in Minneapolis.

Nola Mae was born Dec. 28, 1922, in Kewanee, Ill., the fifth of seven brothers and sisters and two half-sisters. She grew up in the hardship of the Great Depression. During that time Nola chose to follow Jesus, accepting the free gift of salvation the Savior offered her.

Nola married Ewald Christensen April 28, 1951, in Minneapolis. They moved to the Breckenridge-Wahpeton area in 1961 where they raised their three children. Nola was active in church at Faith Evangelical Free, Wahpeton United Methodist, and Breckenridge First Baptist. She participated in Bible studies, mission programs and the music ministries. She also directed the Musical Arts Club for several years. Nola and Ewald opened their home to many missionaries as well as students from InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.

In 1997, Nola and Ewald retired to Weslaco.

Nola is survived by: her husband Ewald; daughters, Judith Braaten (Larry) and Nancy, and son Timothy (Karen); five grandchildren, James Braaten (Susan), Lisa Michelsen (Michael), Anne, Daniel and Peter Christensen; five great-grandchildren, Sarah, Eve and Alex Braaten; and Ella and Calen Michelsen; three siblings Jean, Don and Everett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Aurora House Foundation or Grace Community Church Mission Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of McCaleb Funeral Home, Weslaco, Texas.

Ivan Asa Eaves, 77

Ivan Asa Eaves, 77, Breckenridge, Minn., died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are pending with the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, Minn.

He was born Aug. 14, 1932, in Saginaw, Mich., the son of Harry and Frances Eaves. He grew up and attended school in Saginaw. He was employed as a truck driver for Farm Bureau in Saginaw.

He was inducted into the U.S. Army in March of 1953, and served for two years, receiving the National Defense Service Medal.

Ivan enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Minnesota Twins, and taking rides around the country.

Survivors include: his children, Lucy (Randy) Brown, Lincoln, Neb., Herman (Lois) Eaves, Rockport, Ind., Almeda Eaves, California, Ivan Eaves, Rockport, Mark (Darlene) Eaves, Wanache, Wash., Cindy (Gene) Kem, of Wanache, and Christy (Darwin) Anderson of Campbell, Minn.; five granddaughters, Edie, Chantell, Brandy, Chasity and Crystal; seven grandsons, Jay, Matt, Billy, Michael, Kenny, David and Bucky; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were: his parents; two brothers, Harry and Jim; and a sister, Lou.

Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of arrangements.
