Stella B. Schneider, 89, of Anoka, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at Guardian Angels Lakeside Home, Elk River.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Advent Lutheran Church, Anoka, with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
She is survived by daughter Carol and husband Lester Gregory of Princeton; sons, David and wife Patricia of Oak Grove, and Edward and wife Sandra of Anoka; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard in May 2000.
She was born Feb. 20, 1911, in New Ulm, to Herman and August (Wieland) Langhoff. She married Richard Schneider. She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, Anoka.

Margaret Roiger, 87, formerly of rural Springfield, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at Valley View Manor, Lamberton.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Lamberton, with burial in St. Raphael's Catholic Cemetery, Springfield.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton, and at the church Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Delores of Springfield, Clifford and Lela of Hutchinson; daughters and sons-in-law, Arlette and Ray Heinen of Yankton, S.D., Roxie and Calvin Bode of New Ulm; sons-in-law, Tony Riley of Lamberton, Milton Trebesch of Clements; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; brother and sister-in-law, Emil and Mary Haas of Springfield; sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Bernard Wenisch of Springfield; sister-in-law, Gladys Haas of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Cynthia Trebesch and Rita Riley; brothers, Ted, Pete, Leo and Mike Haas; sisters, Freida Wersal, Ella Lang, Maria Haas, and Esther Wog; and a daughter-in-law, Janice Roiger.
She was born Aug. 25, 1912, to Peter and Katie (Kastner) Haas in Stately Township. She married Leroy Roiger on April 19, 1932, in Springfield. They farmed near Sleepy Eye, Springfield, Sanborn and Lamberton. She belonged to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Altar Society, CCW, and Senior Citizens in Sanborn and Lamberton.

Myra M. (Mrs. Herbert) Franta, 93, formerly of Rt. 1, Lafayette, died Monday, Aug, 21, 2000 at Fairfax Community Home,
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. George Catholic Church in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue one hour before the service at the church. There will be a combined rosary by the Catholic Aid, St. Cecelia Court, and the C.C.W. of St. George at 7 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 8p.m. today at the funeral home.
She is survived by her daughter, Joleen R. Franta of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Cletus and Rosemary Franta, Dennis and Dolores Franta all of New Ulm; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Sylvester Franta of New Ulm, Fremont Franta of Winthrop.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert P. "Herb" Franta on Dec. 20, 1997; daughter, Donna M. Pfeffer; granddaughters, Brenda Franta, Sharon Franta and Cheryl Franta; sisters, Minnie Franta, Rosalie Bushard; brothers, Alfred Bushard, Arthur Bushard, Wilfred G. "Spitz" Bushard; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
She was born on Aug. 1, 1907, in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, to George and Rosa (Schwab) Bushard. She married Herbert P. Franta on June 5, 1929 at St. George Catholic Church in West Newton Township, Nicollet County. They farmed in West Newton Township until the early 1930s and then moved to a farm in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County. They retired in 1970 but continued to live on the farm. They wintered in California and Arizona. In 1994 she became a resident of the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church and the Altar Society; St. Agnes Society, Catholic Aid Association; and St. Cecelia Court 420, Women's Catholic Order of Foresters, all of St. George.

Donald Zea, 64, of Mankato died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 at his residence.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal.
Visitation is 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Thursday Landkamer Johnson Boman Funeral Home and also one hour before services at the church on Friday.
Burial will be in Butterfield Cemetery at Butterfield with military rites by Donald Larson V.F.W. Post 9607 of Butterfield.
He was born on April 24, 1936, in Odin Township, Watonwan County, to Raymond C. and Mary L. (Lorenz) Zea. In 1955, he graduated from Butterfield High School. He served in the US Army. He married to Marcele Schulte, and they later divorced. For several years, he was employed with Hilltop Hy-Vee, as a facilities manager. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal, where he was an active deacon. He was a commissioned lay preacher and was a volunteer chaplain at the hospital and various nursing homes.
He is survived by daughters, Wendi Renee Zea of Beach Haven, N. J., Traci Lynn and her husband Brian Burnes of Shakopee; mother, Mary Zea of St. James, brothers and their wives, Chuck and Kathy of Madelia, Darrell, his twin brother, and Norma of Lakefield, Harry and Deanna of Hanska, David and Linda of Rochester, sisters, Althea Sender of Wamego, Kansas, Kathleen Shuck and her husband Bob of Catlett, Va., Florence Allen of Chatfield; sister-in-law, Eldora Zea of Sioux Falls, S.D.; brother-in-law, Alan Gudbaur of Racine, Wis. and other relatives.
He was preceded in death his father, brother Leon; sisters, Ruth and Ethel; and brothers-in-law, Harry Sender and Ralph Allen.

Leona Hanske, 91, of Milroy, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at Wiener Memorial Hospital, Marshall.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Ashford Presbyterian Church, Milroy, with burial in the Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Ashford Presbyterian Church, Milroy, and will continue one hour prior to services Friday at the church. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Kulow Funeral Service, Echo, is in charge of arrangements.

Ernest Ericson, 93, of Gibbon and formerly of Winthrop, died Sunday, Aug. 20. 2000, at his son's home in Gibbon.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Clear Lake Baptist Church in Severance Township, Sibley county, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday, 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Friday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop, and at the church Friday, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Patricia of Gibbon, Darryl and Cheryl of Blaine; grandchildren, Brenda Anderson of Andover, Tammy Ericson of Blaine; great-grandson, Jacob Ericson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esther; e brothers, Clarence, Melvin, Ben, Willis, and Chester Ericson; and s sisters, Pearl Olson and Lillian Smith.
He was born on Dec. 21, 1906, in Galesburg, Ill., to John and Orilla (Mallery) Ericson. He grew up in Aftborg Township, Sibley County, where he attended country school. He married Esther M. Johnson on Sept. 25, 1939, in Lafayette. They farmed in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County, in the Lafayette area, and in Bismarck Township, Sibley County. He also did seasonal work at Green Giant in Winthrop and Glencoe. They retired in 1971 and moved to Winthrop. In 1992, they moved to Gibbon. He was a member of Clear Lake Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and served on the cemetery board.

Ruth Schiro, 79, of Fairfax, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Fairfax, with burial in Camp Township, Renville County.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Fairfax, and at the church Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax is handling arrangements.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Marlys Boyum and special friend Henry Kamies of Fairfax, Linda and Brian Dickey of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Eunice and Carlos Meneses of Burnsville, Deanna and Virgil Laleman of Garvin, Debra and Daniel Peterson of Ramsey, and Karen and James MacDonald of Marshall; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ervin of Cosmos and Clarence and Janet of Cosmos; sisters, Lucille Krueger of Dassel and Dorothy Schiro of Cosmos; a brother-in-law, Orville Krueger of Dassel and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Luverne; daughter, Lois Bach; a grandson; brothers, Hilmer and Berthold Schiro; sisters, Bertha Stiehm and Alice Krueger; and son-in-law Wayne Boyum.
She was born May 12, 1921, in Penn Township, McLeod County, to Benjamin and Lydia (Weishert) Schiro. She married Luverne Rubert Krueger on Sept. 12, 1945, in Cosmos. They moved to Fairfax in 1967. She was a waitress at several restaurants, including Sell's Cafe in Fairfax. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Fairfax.

Eugene "Gene" Merle Saxhaug, 88, of Lamberton, died Aug. 22, 2000, at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Lamberton, with burial at 1 p.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dundee, Minn.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton, and continues one hour before the service at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Lu Reetz of Lamberton; children and their spouses, Kim and Joe Loe of Hermosa, S.D., Robert Saxhaug of St. Paul, Jon and Mari of Fulda, Heide and Ric Morgan of Tracy, Shane and Roxanne of Burnsville, Tim of Marshall; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Doyle Jr. and wife Dee Johnson of Woodward, Iowa, Patty and husband Dan Bilharz of Nashua, Iowa, April Martin of Waseca, Scott Johnson of Nora Springs, Iowa, David and wife Lori Johnson of Owatonna, Todd and wife Robin Johnson of Memphis, Tenn.; 13 stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charlotte in February 1996; brother, Donald; grandson, Cody Morgan.
He was born Feb. 21, 1932, in Chicago, Ill. to Otto P. and Joyce (Robinson) Saxhaug. He moved wit his family to rural Westbrook where he attended school. He married Charlotte Carlson on April 3, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dundee. They farmed in the Dundee, Walnut Grove and Revere area. Charlotte died in February 1996. In 1997, he moved to Lamberton. He was a cattle buy in the 1960s and 1970s. He served on the board of directors of the Minnesota State High School Rodeo Association.

Harold Winterfeld, 86, of Brownton, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at Burns Manor Nursing Home, Hutchinson.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Brownton, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the church.
Hantge Funeral Chapels, Hutchinson, is in charge of arrangements.

William 'Bill' Turtle, 70, of Rt. 1 Gibbon died Monday, Aug., 21, 2000, of cancer.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
He is survived by his wife, Erma Turtle of rural Gibbon; sons and their wives, Lyle and Jean Turtle of Stewartville, Mark and Frances Turtle, Brad and Mary Turtle all of Gibbon, and Kent and Margie Turtle of Collierville, Tenn.; daughter, Beth and her husband Greg Wendinger of New Ulm; brothers and their wives, Quentin and Bea Turtle of Cranston, R.I., Dennis and Mary Jean Turtle of North Mankato, Richard and Sharon Turtle of Mankato; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Otto, and Carmen Heinze, of North Mankato, Nancy and Arvin Rolfs of Brooklyn Center, Joan and John Yee of Loveland, Colorado; 14 grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren;
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister, Donna.
He was born March 27, 1930, to William J. and Ruby (Mann) Turtle in St. Peter. He attended rural school in Blue Earth and LeSueur counties. He married Erma Preuhs at the Zion United Church of Christ in LeSueur on April 12, 1950. They farmed east of St. Peter for ten years before moving to Gibbon in 1960, where he farmed until his death. He served on the building committee at the Zion United Church of Christ in LeSueur and also on the church council and the building committee for the Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon.

Leona Hanske, 91, of Milroy, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at Weiner Memorial Medical Center, Marshall.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Ashford Presbyterian Church, Milroy, with burial in Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the church, and will continue one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

She is survived by sons, Lester and wife Elaine Willie of Good Springs, Nev., Kenneth and wife Kathy Wille of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Leila and husband Larry Leach of Milroy; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and a grandson.
She was born Dec. 19, 1908, in rural Lucan, to William and Mary (Kragh) George. She grew up in the Lucan area, where she attended school. In 1923, the family moved to rural Wabasso, where she attended Bethany Lutheran Church, serving as choir member and Sunday school teacher. She graduated from Wabasso High School in 1927. She married Henry Wille Jr. on June 11, 1930. He died Nov. 5, 1930. She married Ervin Wille on Nov. 29, 1933. They lived on a farm near Lucan until Feb. 1947, when they bought a farm near Lamberton. He died on Oct. 25, 1958.. She moved to to Wabasso in 1963. She married Earl Hanske on Feb. 7, 1968. They lived in Lucan. He died Nov. 10, 1992. She served as Ladies Aide president and vice president, stewardship chairperson, was a choir member, and taught vacation Bible school, Sunday school and adult Bible classes at church. She worked as a news reporter at KLGR-AM, Wabasso, and as local news reporter and feature reporter for the Wabasso Standard from 1963-1968.

Harold Winterfeldt, 86, of Brownton, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at Burns Manor Nursing Home, Hutchinson.
Services are 11 a.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Brownton, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by brothers and sisters, Martin and wife Carol of Brownton, Ruth of Brownton, Daniel and wife Olive of Brainerd, Herbert of Brownton, and Edgar of Brownton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter and Clarence; and sister Frieda Wacker.
He was born May 4, 1914 in Penn Township, McLeod County, to Karl and Louise (Albrecht) Winterfeldt. He attended Country School District 32 and Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School. He lived in Penn Township all his life, where he farmed. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Brownton.
