James Lorenz, 54, of Mankato, formerly of St. James, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital, Mankato.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James, with burial in East Sveadahl Lutheran Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James.
He is survived by fiancee, Judy Murilla of Mankato; daughter, Sheri and husband Brad Thorn of Mankato; sons, Duane and wife Kim of Mankato, and Matthew and wife Veronica of Chicago, Ill; three grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born March 21, 1946, in St. James, to Walter and Marquerite (Ostberg) Lorenz.
He graduated from St. James High School in 1964.
He farmed on the family place before buying his own farm in Nelson Township.
He retired from farming in 1978.
In 1981 he moved to Mankato while still maintaining the farm.

Maude L. Lager, 97, of Winthrop, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at Arlington Municipal Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Bernadotte Lutheran Church, Nicollet County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop, is in charge of arrangements.

Fr. Felix Fasching, 81, of Bird Island, died Monday morning at Renville County Hospital, Olivia.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bird Island, with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Winsted,
Visitation is 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with a prayer service 7 p.m.
Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Bird Island, is in charge of arrangements.
Fr. Fasching is survived by brothers, Bernard and wife Dorothy of Bloomington, Leander and wife Zoa of Winsted, and Marinus and wife Eileen of Cologne; a sister Margaret Chap of Silver Lake; sisters-in-law, Theresa of Winsted, Betty of California, and Derolla of Winsted; and 21 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, William, Edwin, Alois, and Leo.
He was born July 23, 1919 in Winsted to Frank W. and Anna (Keintz) Fasching.
He attended Holy Trinity High School, Winsted and attended Nazareth Hall Preparatory Seminary, graduating in 1940.
He entered St. Paul Seminary in September 1940, where he completed his philosophical and theological course.
He was ordained Aug. 18, 1945 at St. Paul Cathedral.
He served at St. Mary of the Lake, White Bear Lake; St. Bernard, Cologne; St. Mary's Hospital, Minneapolis; St. Mary's, Bird Island; St. Andrew's, Fairfax; Our Lady of the Lakes, Spicer; and St. Anthony's, Regal.
He retired to Bird Island in June 1999.

Myrtle Herlick of San Jose, Calif., died July 28, 2000 at the home of her daughter, Paula Radzinski in San Jose.
Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Christopher's Church with burial in Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in San Jose.
She is survived by a daughter, Paula Radzinski and husband, William; a son Robert Herlick and wife Sara, a son-in-law David Turner, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister Marie Niesen, a brother-in-law Alex Herlick of New Ulm, sisters-in-law Marie Welch, Minneapolis, Collette Groebner, New Ulm, and Carol McGrath, St. Paul.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton, who died April 19, 2000, a daughter Joanne Turner, brothers Leroy, Martin and Allen Joel, and sisters Evelyn Steffel, Mabel Sonday, and Helen Joel.
She was born Sept. 12, 1918 in Arlington and the family later located in New Ulm.
After graduating from New Ulm High School she worked at Eibner's Bakery & Cafe in New Ulm prior to moving to San Jose in 1943.
She married Anton Herlick on May 20, 1941 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm.
She was a member of the Golden Age Club of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Cameron Park, Calif.and the Gold Nugget Quilters Club of Rescue, Calif.

Maude L. Lager, 97, of Winthrop died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at Arlington Municipal Hospital.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

She is survived by: her husband, Abdon Lager of Winthrop; daughter, Vianne Engwall and husband, Richard, of Minnetonka; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Marian Langer of Winthrop; sister-in-law, Mrs. Marvin Wedin of Cannon Falls; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Freda Wedin; brothers, Carl and Marvin Wedin.
Maude Lucille Lager was born Sept. 10, 1902, in Hector, the daughter of Frank and Freda (Alisch) Wedin.
She was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith.
Lager grew up in Hector, and graduated from Maude High School.
She attended Mankato State College, where she received her teaching certificate.
She taught elementary school for one year in Pemberton, and one year in Floodwood before moving to Winthrop in 1925.
She was a third-grade teacher for four years in the Winthrop School District.
Maude married Abdon Lager on March 25, 1931, at her parents' home in Hector.
They lived on the Lager family farm in Alfsborg Township, Sibley Co., for seven years.
The couple then rented various farm land around the area until 1944, when they purchased the farm site in Alfsborg Township, which became their permanent home.
The couple were married for 69 years.
Maude was a member of Bernadotte Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir.

Elisabeth Neaton, 44, of rural Gaylord, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000 in Nicollet County as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at American Lutheran Church, Gaylord, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 5:30-9 p.m. today at Fenske Family Funeral Home, Gaylord, and will continue one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
She is survived by her husband John; sons, Sean and wife Diana, and Jeffrey, all of Gaylord; two grandsons; her parents; brothers, Dann and wife Joanne Morris of Glencoe, and Kenneth and wife Susan Morris of Owatonna; a sister, Roberta and husband Tim Bauer of Lutsen; and many cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.
She was born April 25, 1956 in Watertown, to Roger and Jean (Leirich) Morris.
She was a 1974 graduate of Gaylord High School and attended two years of college at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
She married John Neaton on May 21, 1977 in Gaylord.
She worked at Jim Carroll Insurance Agency, Mankato, as an office manager.

Henry 'Hank' Johnson, 68, of St. James, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000 at home.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Odin, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James, and will continue one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
He is survived by son, Troy of St. James; sisters, Gladys and husband Earl Barickman of Albert Lea, Betty and husband Tom Olmstead of Moyock, N.C., and Rosalita Mays of Norfolk, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by wife, Violet in June 1968; parents; sisters, Iliene Vanden Heuvel Shearin and Norma Mays; and brothers, Donald, Andrew and James.
He was born April 10, 1932, in St. James to Henry "Hartparr" and Nora (Jacobson) Johnson.
He grew up and attended school in St. James.
In 1943, they moved to rural Comfrey, where they bought a farm, and he attended country school.
In 1946 they moved back to St. James.
In 1951 and 1952 he served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was stationed at Camp Rucker, Ala. as a cook.
He married Violet Lorraine Gjerstad on June 28, 1955, in Willmar.
He worked at Tony Downs Foods, St. James, for 40 years, 25 as loading foreman.
He was a member of Lewisville Legion.

Dolores (Dauer) Hahn, 76, formerly of New Ulm died Friday, August 30, 2002 at the Gaylord Lakeview Home in Gaylord.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Tuesday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Searles.
Visitation will be 4-8 pm Monday and 7:30-10 am Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 pm Monday at the funeral home.
Dolores is survived by her husband, Clarence Hahn of Gaylord; a daughter, Joyce Dauer and her special friend, Walter Bauer both of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Diane Dauer of Hutchinson, and Keith and Kim Dauer of Mankato; grandchildren, Jeremy and Shelly Dauer of Hutchinson, and Ryan and Jennifer Dauer of Mankato.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clarence A. Dauer on September 9, 1981; and a brother, Harold Dummer in infancy in 1923.
Dolores was born June 16, 1926 in Fairfax to Alois and Anna (Nichtl) Dummer.
She attended St. Andrews Parochial School and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1944.
On June 5, 1946 she married Clarence A. Dauer in Fairfax.
After marriage they resided in New Ulm.
She worked at the Loretto and the Sioux Valley Hospitals as a practical nurse, and at the Alexander Home as a nurses aide.
She did Home Health Care and respite care in private homes.
She had worked for the New Ulm Laundry in New Ulm and later did custodial work at Herbergers Department Store in New Ulm.
On September 5, 1987 she married Clarence Hahn at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.
They resided at rural Gaylord.
She loved playing cards, old tyme music, and also sold tapes and CD's for the Northside Dutchmen Band in New Ulm where her daughter, Joyce Dauer and her special friend, Wally Bauer are members.
She was a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Gaylord and a former member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

Leo K. Lick, of Gaylord, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, with burial in the church cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post #443.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel, of Gaylord; sons, Thomas of Shakopee and David of Grand Rapids; daughters, Kathleen Tonolli of Northfield, Suzanne Lick of Gilbert, Ariz., and Mary Beth Alson of Minnetonka; sisters, Olga Rabe of Kroschel, Elsie Kroschel of Kroschel, and Lindy Rabe of Kroschel; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was born March 2, 1922, in Hinckley to Adolph and Emma (Kannenberg) Lick. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe from 1942 to 1945.

James T. Mathiason, 79, of Walnut Grove died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002 at St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Old Westbrook Ev. Lutheran Church in Ann Township, Cottonwood County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church one hour prior to the services.
Walnut Grove Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Gladys of Walnut Grove; two sons, Bruce and Glen of Walnut Grove; three daughters, Gale Jones of Rockford, Melanie O'Neil of Andover, and Cynthia Herbst of Kasson; thirteen grandchildren; two sisters Mavis Begene of Adams, and Audrey Soderling of Emmett, Idaho.
He was born Nov. 21, 1922 in Ann Township, Cottonwood County, to Jacob and Bertha (Olson) Mathiason.

Ellsworth W. Sandmann, 81, of Morgan, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002 at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan due to cancer.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Evan, with burial in the Danebod Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, and will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn; three children: NancyBlick of Morgan, Sheldon Sandmann of Inver Grove Heights and Wendy Hocking of Geneva, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
He was born Sept. 3, 1920 on the family farm in Brookville Township to William and Rosa (Gluth) Sandmann.

Bernard Stark, 90, of Sleepy Eye died Thursday, August 29, 2002 at the Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Following a church luncheon, burial will be at the Moravian Cemetery in rural Springfield.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling arrangements for the family.
Bernard Herman Stark, the son of Herman and Emelia (Mielke) Stark, was born June 19, 1912 in Bashaw Township, Brown County.
He grew up on the family farm and attended Comfrey schools.
He was united in marriage to Grace Therkilsen on February 19, 1936 at Comfrey.
Together they farmed and raised their family in Stately Township, Brown County.
They retired from farming and moved into Springfield in 1974.
The couple moved to Sleepy Eye in September 1992.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Sleepy Eye and formerly a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Springfield.
Survivors include his wife Grace of Sleepy Eye; son, Lanny Lee Stark and his wife Beverly of Bloomington; daughter, Linda Schueler and her husband Gerald of Sleepy Eye; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son Gerald in 1986; two great granddaughters, Autumn and Alicia Ross in 2000; and five brothers and six sisters.
Memorials are preferred.

Nikolas J. Trebesch, two months, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002 at home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2002 and 7:30-9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James and Tuesday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his mother Carissa Trebesch of St. James; father, Andrew Johnson of Lester Prairie; grandfather Joe Blackstad of St. James; grandmother Brenda Schultz of Cokato; grandfather Carroll Trebesch of Sleepy Eye; step grandfather Kendall Schultz of Lester Prairie; grandparents Keith and Nancy Johnson of Lester Prairie; a great grandfather, Dale Chute, Sr. of Darfur; great grandmother, June Morgan of Madelia.
He was born June 20, 2002 in Waconia.
