Leonhard Dallmann, 86, of 1610 Sunset Ave., died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000 at Sleepy Eye Care Center where he had been a resident since Sept. 26.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service at the church Saturday.
He is survived by his wife, Eldora Dallmann of New Ulm; a daughter and son-in-law, Ronda and Frederick "Fritz" Hackbarth of Onalaska, Wisconsin; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Diane Dallmann of New Ulm; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Dallmann of Milwaukee, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ardella Enter of Nicollet; sisters-in-law, Ruth Dallmann of Nicollet, Cornelia Dallmann and Hazel Dallmann both of Mankato; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gordon and Dolores Thom of Nicollet, Irene and Harold Fischer of New Ulm, Fern Shult of rural Nicollet, Helen and Edgar Poehler of rural Courtland; and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger Dallmann in July 1994; a sister and brother-in-law Lorene and Eugene Bode; a sister, Hertha Dallmann in infancy; brothers and sisters-in-law Walter and Molly Dallmann, Harry and Ida Dallmann, Edwin Dallmann, Daniel Dallmann, and Eldon Dallmann.
He was born Dec. 22, 1913, in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County to Gustav and Anna (Maas) Dallmann. He graduated from Nicollet High School in 1932 and then attended Mankato Commercial College in Mankato. On Sept. 20, 1938, he married Eldora Thom at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. They lived in New Ulm, where he was a salesman for Bleecker and McNess. From 1972 until 1983 they lived in Glendale, Ariz., where he worked with the Glendale Office Supply Company. In 1983, they retired and moved back to New Ulm. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, where he served several terms on the church council.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to either the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Ulm or to the Martin Luther College Athletic Department.

Amanda Johnson, 92, formerly of Mountain Lake, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at Owatonna Care Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna, with burial in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Fairmont. Memorials are preferred to Infinia at Owatonna Care Center Family Council, Nora Unitarian Universalist Church or the donor's choice.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley and Darryl Hill of Owatonna; a sister, Ella Carlson of Trimont; sister-in-law, Louise Redmann of Trimont; one granddaughter, one great-grandson, one grandson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest; her mother and father; two sisters and two brothers.
She was born Oct. 30, 1907, in Martin County to Albert and Martha (Eichert) Redmann. She graduated from Cedar Township rural school. She married Ernest A. Johnson on Sept. 1, 1934, at Estherville, Iowa. They farmed in Jackson County until 1970. They moved to Owatonna in 1990. She belonged to the Farmers Union and the Nora Universalist Unitarian Church.

Paula M. Louwagie, 71, of Lucan, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at her home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Lucan, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the church.
Kulow Funeral Home, of Echo handled arrangements.
She is survived by her husband Roger, of Lucan; children, Daniel and Janice of Lucan, Phillip and Lauri of Rochester, James and Julie of Apple Valley, Vincent and Deborah of Shoreview, Jolene and Kevin Knutson of Eden Prairie, and Pamela and Mitchel Rauk of New Orleans, La; ten grandchildren; brothers and sister, Maria Lesage, Roger Vandewalle, Germain Vandewalle, Andrea Desnos and Andre Vandewalle, all of France.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gerard Vandewalle; and an infant daughter.
She was born Sept. 25, 1929, in Poperinghe, Belgium, to Florent and Elisa (Heile) Vandewalle. She married Roger Louwagie on Oct. 2, 1951, in France. They moved to Minnesota in 1951 and farmed near Green Valley. They bought a farm near Lucan in 1957. They retired from farming in 1991. She was a member of CCW and Christian Mothers Society.

Kevin Berg, 33, of Route 2, New Ulm, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 as a result of a single vehicle accident in Sigel Township, Brown County.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
He is survived by his parents, Eldor and Lois Berg of Essig; sisters and brothers-in-law, Christine and Jerry Herr of Owatonna, and Jean and Bill Berg of rural New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat and Renae Berg of Essig, Larry Berg of Fairmont, Paul and Brenda Berg, Steve and Teresa Berg, Kenny Berg all of New Ulm; by 17 nieces and nephews; and aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Priska Guggisberg and Roman and Elizabeth Berg.
He was born July 28, 1967 in New Ulm to Eldor and Lois (Guggisberg) Berg. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1985. He had worked for Brown County Feed, New Ulm Feed and the Community Co-op of Essig and for the last five years he was employed at Arneson Distributing Company in Sleepy Eye. He had also worked part-time at Carl's Corner in Essig for the past 18 years. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, Pheasants Forever, Sleepy Eye Golf Club, and Essig Baseball where he served as the past president of the association. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be given to the New Ulm Area Catholic Schools (N.U.A.C.S.)

Helen Riley, 93, formerly of Wanda, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mathias Catholic Church, Wanda, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, and at the church Monday, one hour prior to the service.
Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield, is handling arrangements.
She is survived by daughters, Rita and Gerry Turbes of Worthington, Judy and Tom Walters of Clements and JoAnn and Joe Moelter of Las Vegas, Nev.; 32 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and daughters-in-law, Beatrice Riley of Spokane, Wash., Annette Riley of Tacoma, Wash., Mary Ann Riley of Salem, Ore., and Judy Riley of Walker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; sons, Lewellyn, Adrian, Hilarion and John R. Riley; a daughter, Angela Riley; two grandchildren; five sisters, Rosie, Margaret (Mack), Laura, Maggie and Elsie; and seven brothers, Ted, Leonard (Sonny), Bill, Albert (Butch), Jack, George, and Hank.
She was born Jan. 19, 1907 in Willow Lake Township, Redwood County, to Henry and Mary (Stelzer) Berg. She attended District #67 County School in Willow Lake Township. She married John P. Riley on Oct. 20, 1925 in Clements. They farmed near Wanda until 1936 when they moved to Wanda to operate Riley's Tavern. He died in February 1948. She was a cook at St. Mathias Catholic School in Wanda for 16-1/2 years, until it was closed. She was a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church.

Marvin Kruschke, 77, of Arlington, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arlington, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Fenske Funeral Home, Arlington and at the church Monday, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Bill Schulte of New Prague; two grandchildren; a great granddaughter; sister, Annabelle Stradcutter of Belle Plaine; brothers and sisters-in-law, Orlando and Hilda Kruschke of Belle Plaine, and Ellsworth and Grace Kruschke of Belle Plaine; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Frank Luepke of Arlington; John and Jean Novosad of Tacoma, Wash., Irene Novosad of Gaylord, and Lois Novosad of Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen; and three brothers, Elmer, Armin, and Sylvan Kruschke.
He was born Oct. 17, 1922 in Tyrone Township, rural LeSueur County, to William and Augusta (Moenke) Kruschke. He married Helen Novosad at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Blakeley Township, rural Henderson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1947. He ran truck routes in the Belle Plaine and Arlington areas. He owned a rubbish business in Arlington and also drove a school bus. He belonged to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and belonged to VFW Post #6031, Arlington.

Verna M. Carson, 96, of Fairfax, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at the Fairfax Community Home.
Services will be 11 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church, Fairfax, with burial in Fort Ridgely Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. today, at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax.
She is survived by several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Elizabeth (Voltin) Carson; a brother, Ben; and sister-in-law, Delpha Carson.
She was born Feb. 27, 1904 in Fairfax to Frank and Florentine (Fenscke) Carson. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Fairfax.
She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1923 and the University of Minnesota in 1927. She worked for the Fairfax Journal for a year before teaching in Raymond. She later moved to Carlton where she was appointed Dean of Girls before returning to the University of Minnesota for a master's degree. She took on civil service work before becoming assistant dean at Brookings, S.D. She became a counselor and supervising head at Eastern Michigan University in 1944 until retiring in 1970. She returned home to care for her mother in Cairo Township. She belonged to the United Methodist Church, Fairfax, and was an honorary member of the United Methodist Women. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, Fairfax Civic League Trustee, the Fairfax Depot Preservation Association and the Fairfax Community Home Auxiliary.

Adelheid 'Addie' Black, 82, of Fairfax, died Thursday, Oct., 2000, at Fairfax Community Home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fairfax, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday at the church.
Arrangements are by Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Black of Fairfax; brothers and sisters-in-law, Victor and Lydia Woller of Gaylord and Vernon and Gladys Woller of Winthrop; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was born July 6, 1918, in Transit Township, Sibley County, to George and Martha (Hass) Woller. She attended country school in Sibley County and worked as a cook at the Gaylord Hospital for several years. She married Leon Black on Aug. 22, 1953. They farmed in Cairo Township, Renville County. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Lorraine Christensen, 85, of 1001 North Garden Street in New Ulm died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 at Lake Crystal Health Care Center in Lake Crystal.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with burial in Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Tuesday.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Mike Peters of Madison Lake; a son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Leola Anderson of Luling Louisiana; five grandchildren; and four great -grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Klingseisen, of Sleepy Eye; a brother-in-law, Claus Evers of Sleepy Eye; and also a sister-in-law, Shirley Anderson of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Ivan Anderson in March 1977, and by her second husband, Edward Christensen in June of 1990; a brother Vernon Guhlke; and sisters, Mildred Evers and Leona Zellmer.
She was born Dec. 18, 1914, in Cobden to Gustav and Amanda (Grundmeyer) Guhlke.
She attended school in Cobden. On June 10, 1936, she married Ivan Anderson in Sleepy Eye. They farmed near Cobden before moving to a farm north of Evan.
She married Edward Christensen on June 28, 1980. They lived in New Ulm.
He owned and operated the Purity White Castle Restaurant in New Ulm and she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in New Ulm and the Ladies Aid at the church.
She was a past member of Grace Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye.

Harold E. Rogotzke, 81, of Springfield, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Springfield, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. today and 7:30-10 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield.
He is survived by a son, Floyd and daughter-in-law, Sue Rogotzke of Springfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Wally Nelson of Maple Grove, and Gloria and Ron Dingfelder of Big Stone City, S.D.; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and three expected great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Irene; one brother, Walter; two sisters, Emma and Elda; and one great grandchild.
He was born Jan. 10, 1919, in North Star Township, Brown County, to Wilhelm and Ida (Bast) Rogotzke. He farmed on the family farm, west of Springfield, moving to Springfield in 1967. He married Irene Welsch on Jan. 10, 1944, in Springfield. He belonged to St. Raphael's Catholic Church.

Lauretta Schlumpberger, 91, of New Ulm died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000 at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the St. George Catholic Cemetery in St. George. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
The Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.
There will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. and the Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Cecelia Court #420 will pray the rosary at 7:00 p.m. both Tuesday evening at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Harvey Fruhwirth of New Ulm; her son and daughter-in-law, James and Marlys Schlumpberger of New Ulm; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one step great-granddaughter; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Alois Schmitt of Culver City, California; sisters-in-law, Marcella Ries, Agnes Schlumpberger Rieger, Ann Schlumpberger Duetsch all of New Ulm, and Elsie Schlumpberger Hamilton of Glendale, California; brothers-in-law, Marcus Schlumpberger of St. Paul and Larry Schlumpberger of Rogue River, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Schlumpberger on January 6, 1992; brothers, Jerome and Edmund Ries; and a son Jerome Schlumpberger in 1938.
She was born July 15, 1909, in Milford Township, Brown County to Charles and Mary (Forst) Ries.
She attended Milford Country School and later Holy Trinity Grade School.
On Oct. 11, 1932, she married Henry Schlumpberger at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. They farmed in West Newton Township, Nicollet County until retiring to New Ulm in 1968. She worked at the Kaiserhoff Restaurant in the kitchen for many years. In 1993, she moved to the Sunset Apartments and then she became a resident of the Oak Hills Living Center in 1997.
She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, the Christian Mothers Society, the Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Cecelia Court #420, and (RSVP) Retired Senior Volunteer Program, all in New Ulm.

Evelyn S. Reinhart, 80, of 1119 North State in New Ulm died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000 at Abbott - Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Searles. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Monday and 7:30 - 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mother's Society will pray the rosary at 4:00 p.m. Monday at the Cathedral. The St. Anne's Court N.C.S.F. will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Roger L. Reinhart of Sartell, Felix Donald and Pat Reinhart of Edina, John P. and Joanne Reinhart of Sauk Rapids; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Whitney of Forest Lake, Cleo Lang of St. Paul; and her brother, Donald Kosek of Roseville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roman J. Reinhart on November 13, 1986.
She was born March 28, 1920, in West Newton Township, Nicollet County to Paul R. and Isabelle M. (Wendinger) Kosek. She graduated from Mechanic Art High School in St. Paul in 1938. She married Roman J. Reinhart on May 15, 1939 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. They farmed in rural Searles until moving to New Ulm in 1944. She received her Licensed Practical Nurse License in 1952 and worked as an LPN at the Loretto Hospital in New Ulm. She was a member of the Minnesota Licensed Practical Nurses Association and volunteered her time and talents serving as an officer and committee member for many years. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, the Christian Mother's Society, St. Anne's Court #389, National Catholic Society of Foresters, and the American Legion Auxiliary in New Ulm.

Elroy 'Big Shot' Jones, 86, of Redwood Falls, died Friday, Oct. 6, at Franklin Health Care Center, Franklin.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, with burial in Bishop Whipple St. Cornelia's Cemetery, Lower Sioux Community, Morton.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Memorials are preferred to Project Turnabout in Granite Falls.
He was born Elroy Ambrose Jones "Keeper of the River," Oct. 1, 1914, in Paxton Township, Redwood County, to Jim and Julia Jones. He grew up in the Lower Sioux Community and belonged to St. Cornelia's Episcopal Church. He worked at Project Turnabout in Granite Falls for many years and at the Lower Sioux Pottery Shop.
