Donna Polk, 62, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of New Ulm, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, in Phoenix.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at Grace Church, 5300 France Ave. S., Edina.
She is survived by her husband Don of Phoenix, Ariz.; children and spouses, Ginny and Rod Mueller of New Ulm, Don and Renee Polk of Redwood City, Calif., Helen and Mark Lueder, of Richfield, Lester and Maggie Polk, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Patti and Eric Shoup, of Austin; ten grandchildren; brother, Bill Parker; sisters, Gerri Parker, Patti Harrison and Susie Hoagberg, addresses not available; and nieces and nephews.
She was born Aug. 18, 1938, in Minneapolis, to Donald and Helen (Burns) Parker.

Ambrose 'Bruce' Bastian, 69, of rural Gibbon, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at the New Ulm Medical Center, New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church, Gibbon, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery, rural Gibbon.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, Gibbon.
The Catholic Aid Society will pray the rosary at 6:00 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m., both Sunday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, of rural Gibbon; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Steve Serbus of New Ulm, and Karen and Roger Holm of Winthrop; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Barbara, Joey and Patricia, and Bruce, all of Gibbon; six grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Gervaise Bastian of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Mary Jo Bastian of Roseville, Geraldine and Bert Hauber of Loveland, Colo.; brothers and sisters-in-law, LeRoy and Phyllis of New Ulm, Wally and Bonnie of Klossner, Cletus and Arlene of Rose Creek, and Thomas and Lois of Springfield; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Darlene and Theodore Liebl of New Ulm and Lucille and Leonard Borth of Fairfax.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerome; andfather-in-law and mother-in-law, Emil and Anna Fahrenkamp.
He was born on April 30, 1931 in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, to Edwin and Margaret (Steinbach) Bastian. He married Lorraine Fahrenkamp on June 30, 1953, at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon. They farmed in Severance Township, Sibley County. He was a member of St. Willibrord's Catholic Church, Gibbon and its Catholic Aid Society.

Bernice Ellingsberg, 85, of Madelia, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Luther Memorial Home, Madelia.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Madelia, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Richard Zimmerman of Billings, Mont., and Phyllis and Ove Garver of Kasota; son and daughters-in-law, LeRoy and Shirley Hoeft, and Kay Hoeft, all of Good Thunder; 24 grandchildren; many great, great grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Lucille Wilde of Kasota, Arlene Stevenson and Bev and Tom Hennager, all of Madelia; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Brand of Glencoe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Thomas; three sisters and four grandchildren.
She was born Nov. 18, 1915, in Clark County, Iowa, to Edward and Vica (Sink) Jacobe. She married Raymond Hoeft on Aug. 18, 1960 and they farmed in rural Butternut. They were later divorced. She married Earl Ellingsberg on Aug. 18, 1960. They lived in Madelia and operated Earl's City Service and the Madelia Cafe in 1967-1976. She moved to Luther Memorial Home in Madelia in March 1996. She belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church, Madelia, and the Madelia VFW Auxiliary.

Gail Wallin, 50, of Arlington, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in Arlington.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service Monday at the chapel.
She is survived by her mother, Bernice Johnson of Winthrop; daughter, Sonya Johnson of Winthrop; son, Shawn Wallin of the Twin Cities; seven grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Gloria of Waconia; and a niece.
She was born March 23, 1950, in Chicago, Ill., to Elton Jahue and Bernice (Holt) Johnson. The family moved to California when she was nine. She moved to Crystal in the early 1970s. She worked as a teller at F&M Bank and Becklund Home Health Care, Arlington.

Dora Rieke,85, formerly of Gibbon, died Wednesday, January 3, 2001, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Saturday. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and David Turner of Mankato; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Judy Rieke of Nicollet, Jim and Lynne Rieke of Santa Maria, California, and Richard Rieke of Lompoc, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Louie Parenteau of Denver Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E.C. Rieke in 1984; two sisters, Edna Parenteau, and Leone Davitt.
She was born Dec. 24, 1915, in Glencoe to Albert and Anna (Landquist) Kruger.
She attended school in Glencoe and later graduated from the University of Minnesota Agriculture School with a teaching degree. On December 28, 1935, she married E.C. Rieke in St. Paul. They lived in Black River Falls, Wis., where she taught for a short time. They moved to New Ulm in the 1940s and later moved to Gibbon. She worked for Heidi's Hardware and Wolter's Store until she retired. Dora also helped her husband at the Rieke Hatchery in Gibbon.
Dora was Miss Glencoe in 1934. She had been a resident of the Lafayette Good Samaritan Center from 1995 until June of 2000, and has been at the Community Health Care Center in St. Peter since that time.
She was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church and had been in its Ladies Aid.
Memorials are preferred to the Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon.

Mildred Schmalz, 93, of Buffalo Lake, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001 at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Buffalo Lake. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the church and will continue for one prior to services Tuesday.
Funeral arrangements are handled by Hughes Funeral Home, Hector.

Martin Rose, 84, of Winthrop died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Lakeview Clinic in Waconia.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Winthrop, with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Dalin-Hantge Chapel in Winthrop and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Rose of Winthrop; sons, Duane Rose and wife, Cheryl, of Gaylord, Dennis Rose and wife, Cheryl of Winthrop; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Ervin and wife, Annisonia; five sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Fred and Harold, mother- and father-in-law, Ed and Lizzie Quast, two brothers-in-law.
Martin Richard Otto Rose was born March 24, 1916, in Dryden Township, Sibley County, son of Heinrich and Martha (Grewe) Rose. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Mountville, for 54 years.
On Nov. 12, 1941, he married Evelyn Quast at the Quast family home in Arlington. He was a janitor, on the cemetery board, and on the Parochial school board at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mountville. They farmed until 1973, when they moved into Winthrop. They became members of Zion Lutheran Church, Winthrop. He served on the New Auburn creamery bard for several years.

Arthur Kratz, 89, of New Hope, formerly of Comfrey, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at St. Therese Home, New Hope.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Hope Lutheran Church, Comfrey, with burial in Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Comfrey.
Visitation is one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Sturm Funeral Home, Comfrey, was in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Anne of Robbinsdale; son, Wayne and wife JoAnne of Maple Grove; daughters, Diane and husband Jim Deutsch, and Jane and husband Bill Isaacson, all of Maple Grove; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Floyd and wife Rosalyn Kratz of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donavon; brothers, Walter and Roy; and sisters, Alice, Hilda, Edith, and Roscella.
He was born July 16, 1911, in Bashaw Township, Brown County, to Oscar and Emma (Wing) Kratz. He graduated from Comfrey High School in 1929. He farmed with his father and brother. He married Anne Goltz on Nov. 18, 1943. He was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church, Comfrey, and a member of New Hope Lutheran Church, Comfrey. He served on the Faith Lutheran Church and Cemetery boards, Bashaw Town Board, and as constable of Bashaw Township.

Ina Daby, 89, of St. Peter, formerly of Winthrop, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Grandview Good Samaritan Home, St. Peter.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Clear Lake Baptist Church, rural Gibbon, with burial in Morton City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at St. Peter Funeral Service, St. Peter, and will continue Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by sons, Lee and wife Kareen of Madison Lake, Lynn and wife Connie of San Antonio, Texas, Lance and wife Bev of Detroit, Mich., Larry and wife Faye of Erie, Colo., and Leon and wife Teresa of Detroit; daughter, Claudia and husband Dan Risnes of Vadnais Heights; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lemuel in 1997; and grandson, Adam Spriggs.
She was born Jan. 23, 1911, in Renville County, to Samuel and Esther (Hubbard) Smith. She graduated from Morton High School and attended Hamline University. She married Lemuel LeGrande Daby on July 10, 1932, in Olivia. They farmed in Morton, Sebeka, Angus, and Warren until 1973, when they retired and moved to Prescott Valley, Ariz. They returned to Minnesota in 1987 and lived in the Winthrop area. She moved to St. Peter to the Wilds of Sand Prairie in April 2000.

She is survived by her children, Warren and wife Mabel of Buffalo Lake, Arvid and wife Nancy of Buellton, Calif., Muriel Seabrook and husband Ted of Bayonne, New Jersey, and Kermit and wife Mary of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Selma Woestehoff, Edna Kruschke, Florence Rusch, and Helma Kruschke; and brother, Roy.
She was born June 2, 1907, in Bergen Township, McLeod County, near Lester Prairie, to Christian F. and Pauline (Meyer) Woestehoff. She grew up on a farm in Blakeley Township, Scott County, and attended Joel School District 54. She married Leonard Schmalz on June 10, 1931, in Blakeley Township, Scott County. They farmed in Preston Township until 1962 when they moved to Buffalo Lake. She worked in the laundry department at Buffalo Lake Retirement Home. In 1997 she moved into assisted living at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center. She wrote a column for the News Mirror. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Martha Circle, General Aid, and Buffalo Lake Senior Citizens.

Lucille Lightfoot, 69, of Vesta died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Redwood Falls Hospital, Redwood.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Lucan with burial in Holy Name Catholic Cemetery, Vesta.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Lucan, and will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to services. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today.
Redwood Valley Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Marlys Larson of Redwood Falls, William and wife, Charlene Lightfoot of Vesta, Paul and wife, Valerie Lightfoot of Russell; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; siblings, Victoria and husband, Jim Appleseth of Oklahoma City, Okla., Jim and wife, Kay Mootz, of Alexandria, Walter and wife, Carol Mootz of Oklahoma City, Okla., Donna and husband, Bob Jester of Gutherie, Okla., and Joan Shutt of Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Louis and Clem; a grandson and her husband in 1997.
Lucille Josephine Lightfoot was born Feb. 6, 1931, in Marshall, to Michael and Mary (Kack) Mootz. She attended Marshall schools. On Feb. 16, 1950, she married Lawrence Lightfoot at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The couple farmed in the Milroy and Vesta area until retirement in 1983, when they moved into Vesta. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan.

John Tokkesdal, 99, of Buffalo Lake, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Buffalo Lake, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Buffalo Lake, and will continue one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Hughes Funeral Home, Buffalo Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his children, Esther Schmalz and husband Marvin of Buffalo Lake, Rudy and wife Joyce of Buffalo, and Sylvia Aufderheide and husband Jim of New Ulm; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dora in 1940; wife, Annie in 1989; grandson, LeRoy Schmalz; granddaughter, Doris Tokkesdal; great-granddaughter, Christine Schmalz; three brothers; three sisters; and a half-brother.
He was born Oct. 22, 1901, in Ulfborg, Denmark, to Jens Christian and Anne (Bredmose) Nielsen Tokkesdal. He grew up on a farm and attended school in Denmark. He arrived in America in 1924. He settled in the Glencoe-Hutchinson area, where he worked on farms. He also worked at a harness shop in Cedar Mills. He married Dora Krueger in 1929. They farmed near Hutchinson, and then moved to a farm between Hutchinson and Stewart. In 1932 they moved to a farm south of Buffalo Lake. He married Annie Bullard in 1947. He moved to Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in 1998.
