John Jakubiez, 73, of Northeast Minneapolis, died on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001.
Mass of Christian burial is 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Northeast Minneapolis, with a private burial at Fort Snelling.
Visitation is one hour prior to mass at the church.
He is survived by his wife Betty; children, Tom (Shirley Juntti), Terry (Bob) Cox, Meg Sikorski and Larry (Jill); nine grand-children; four step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ervin Hopp, 83, of Sleepy Eye, died on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at the Gil-Mor Manor Nursing Home in Morgan.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his sister, Olga Buchholz of Fairfax; brother Ervil and wife Hildegard Hopp of Atwater; two sisters-in-law, Myrtil Hopp of Litchfield and Ruby Hopp of Gibbon; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Esther Grundemann, Sophie Schwerzlin, Viola Gilland, and Sylvia Meyer; brothers, Harold, Herman, Francis, Arthur, Anton Jr., Melvin, Herbert and Alvin in infancy.
He was born April 14, 1918, in Sherman Township, Redwood County, to Anton and Olga (Steinhaus) Hopp. He attended county school in Sherman Township. Following his schooling, he helped his parents on the family farm. He helped area farmers with farm work until his retirement. He moved into Sleepy Eye and lived there for the past 30 years.

Ruthanna Wilson, 70, of Redwood Falls, died on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at the Redwood Falls Area Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at the Assembly of God in Redwood Falls, with burial in the Sisseton Cemetery in Sisseton, S.D., at 11 a.m. on Friday.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Guild Hall, Lower Sioux Community, and one hour prior to services at the church. Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Kathy and husband Charles Talbert of Brooklyn Park, Pam and husband John Kaizen of Florida, Karen and husband Martin Stanley of Germantown, Md., Greg Blue of Granite Falls, Hope and husband Lee Rudolph of Willmar, and Johnny and wife Heather Wilson of Winnebago; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother Harold and wife Patsy St. Clair of Granite Falls, and Susan Werner of Hemmit, Calif.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elroy F. Wilson; one brother and three sisters.
She was born on April 25, 1931, in Redwood Falls, to George and Sabina St. Clair. She grew up in Morton and graduated from Morton High School in 1949. She lived in Minneapolis and Granite Falls after graduation. She married Gerald Blue and later married Elroy F. Wilson on June 8, 1968, in Wheaton. They moved quite a few times until Elroy retired from the military in 1978, when they settled in Sisseton, S.D. Elroy died in 1989. She moved back to Redwood Falls in 1991. She worked as a private nurse, a bookkeeper and a secretary for a number of years. She was a member of Assembly of God, a past member of the Long Hollow Presbyterian Church, where she worked as the church treasurer, deacon, Sunday school superintendent, member of the Ladies' Aid and Ladies' Fellowship Leader.

Grace Evers, 95, formerly of Comfrey, died on Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at New Hope Lutheran Church, Comfrey, with burial in Springfield City Cemetery, Springfield.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-9 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in Comfrey, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by sisters-in-law, Alide Evers, and Clara and husband Arnold Wall, all of Mountain Lake; brother-in-law, John and wife Alice Evers of Springfield; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ralph in 1978; sisters, Jenny, Harmka and Tina; and brother Richard.
She was born April 14, 1906, in Wellsburg, Iowa, to John and Hinderena (Jasper) Schafer. She moved with her family to Mountain Lake as a young girl, attending country school. She married Ralph Evers on Feb. 18, 1925, at her parents' home in rural Mountain Lake. They farmed in the Comfrey area moving into Comfrey in 1966. She became a resident of St. John's Lutheran Home in April 1998. She was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church, Comfrey, and former member of Salem Lutheran Church. She was active in the Ladies's Aid and circle and sang in the choir.

Emelia Machau, 87, of LeCenter, formerly of New Ulm and Courtland, died on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with burial in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation is 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. Firle Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by daughters, Janice Machau of Minneapolis, and Vivian Tastel of Mound; son David Machau and his spouse Lori of Courtland; four grandchildren; sisters, Lydia Hanson and Madeline Harrison, both in Oregon; brother, Lawrence Fischer of North Dakota; special family member Oscar Reinhart of Franklin; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant grandchild, and many brothers and sisters.
She was born Aug. 27, 1914, in Stanton, N.D., to Fredrick and Christina (Horning) Fischer. She grew up and attended school in Stanton. She married Theophil "Art" Machau on Jan. 1, 1935 in Hazen, N.D. They worked on farms in Gaylord, Norwood, and later settled in the Courtland area where they continued to farm until 1975.
They lived near Courtland until her husband's death in 1993. The following year she moved to the Sunset Apartments in New Ulm, and most recently was a resident of the Central Healthcare Center in LeCenter. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

John Coner, 68, of Cobden, died on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at his home.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye with military rites by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard.
Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
He is survived by his wife, Karen of Cobden; sons, Paul and wife Sue of Sleepy Eye, Jon and wife Amy of San Diego, Calif., and Joe Coners of Bloomington; daughter, Michelle and husband George Tauer of Springfield; seven granddaughters; brothers, George and wife Mavis of Hendricks, and Fred and Virginia of Springfield; sisters, Alice and husband Gilbert Ludewig of Springfield, and Tillie McVicker of Fort Doge, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Deanna Krebs in 1986 and seven half-brothers and five half sisters.
He was born April 22, 1933, in Cottonwood County, to Claus and Anna (Rohden) Coners. He served with the National Guards at Camp Rucker, Ala., during the Korean War. He worked a few years in the Iron Mines in Virginia. Most of his life he worked in road construction, most recently with Wallner Construction of New Ulm and Carlson Brothers in Springfield. He was the mayor of Cobden for several years.

Myron Kletscher, 73, of Vesta, died on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at the Parkview Home in Belview.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Vesta, with burial in Vesta Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is surived by nine siblings and their spouses, Elaine and husband Lenn Borning of Echo, Elvira Meier of Echo, Elvern and wife Arlene of Vesta, Harold and wife Marilyn of Vesta, Clarence and wife Margaret of Winstead, Ardyce and husband Darold Rudenick of Lucan, Jeanette and husband Milan Stage of Vesta, Janice and husband Wallace Stage of Redwood Falls and Merlin and wife Iylene of New London; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Edna, brother Laverne and brother-in-law Harvey Meier.
He was born Oct.11, 1927, in Vesta Township in Redwood County, to Henry and Ida (Arndt) Kletscher. He attended country school. He farmed in Vesta until retirement in 1987 and continued to live on the farm until 1997 when he became a resident of Parkview Home in Belview. He was a member of the Parkview Home Resident Council.

Frieda Quirk, 99, of St. James, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James.
Private family services are at the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. on Friday at the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James.
She is survived by her daughter, Corinne Swanson of St. James; a granddaughter; two great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; many step great grandchildren and step-great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ann Harty; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, son-in-law, Orville Swanson, sister, Laura and her husband Roy, and two nieces and their husbands.
She was born Nov. 7, 1901, in St. Paul, to Louis and Elizabeth (Diedrich) Boldt. She moved to Duluth. She married William (Bill) Barkley on Sept. 16, 1921, in Duluth. They had a daughter, Corrine. Bill died on Aug. 4, 1929. She worked for Schuneman-Mannheimer as an accountant and the St. Cloud Veterans Hospital as a medical secretary until 1943. She married James Quirk on Oct. 9, 1943, in St. Cloud. They lived in White Bear Lake. James died on Jan. 1, 1976. In September 1978, she moved to St. James to be near her daughter. She was a resident of the Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James from April 1996 until her death.

Marlys Frederickson, 66, of LaSalle, died on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at her home.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at LaSalle Lutheran Church in LaSalle, with burial in the LaSalle Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-5 p.m Sunday 8-9:30 a.m. Monday at the Pease Funeral Home in St. James and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her husbande Donald C. Frederickson of LaSalle; sons, Scott and his wife, Cindy of St. James and Keith Frederickson and special friend, Ruth Nelson of Hanska; two grandchildren; brother, Walter Nelson and his wife Verna of Ft. Meyers Beach, Florida; and sisters-in-law, Arlene Nelson of Boxholm, lowa, Bonnie Nelson of Brownsdale, Janis Nelson of Kimball and Virginia Nelson of New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Vernon Nelson, Ernest (Bud) Nelson, Floyd Nelson, LeRoy Nelson and Arvid Nelson.
She was born March 25, 1935, in Herman, to Ernest and Frieda (Brandon) Nelson. She moved with her family to the St. James area and was a 1954 graduate of St. James High School. She married Donald C. Frederickson on Oct. 4, 1958, at the Albion Lutheran Church in rural St. James. They lived in the St. James area and in LaSalle since 1969. She was employed by Tony Downs Foods and as an aide at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in St. James. She was a member of the LaSalle Lutheran Church.

Shirley Westman, 76, of St. James, died on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. James, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday at Strum Funeral Home in St. James and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin, of St. James; sons, Harley and wife Nona, Delroy and wife Carol, Lorin and wife Terri; daughter-in-law, Ruth Westman; and 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Darlene Nordstrom and Lorraine Krumrie, and son, Gary Westman.
She was born Oct. 9, 1924, in St. James, to Fred and Stella (Larson) Weide. She graduated from St. James High School. She married Marvin Westman on Dec. 18, 1943, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. James. They owned and operated the Westman Service Station for 35 years in Godahl. They lived on their family farm for many years. She was on the Ladies Aid Committee and was a longtime member of the Kitchen Band in Godahl.

Nelda Freuler, 79, of St. James, died on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at St. James Health Services Hospital, St. James.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, St. James, with burial in Logan Cemetery, Logan, Kan.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Paul, of St. James; sons, William and his wife Beverly Steen of Tipton, Ind., and Douglas and his wife Fran Steen, of Shetek, Wis.; step children, Trish McCarty, Tom and his wife Kelly Freuler, and John and his wife Patty Freuler; seven grandchildren; brothers, Larry Radloff, of St. James, Elmer Radloff, of Elkhart, Kan., and Louis Radloff, of Pueblo, Colo.; sisters, Elsie Deakins, of Logan, Kan., and Esther Schick, of Gardner, Kan.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Radloff, of Phillipsburg, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carl and Rudy; and sisters, Alma, Olinda, Leona and Ethel.
She was born April 16, 1922, in Cedar, Kan., to William and Amalia (Henkel) Radloff. She graduated from Logan High School. She married Paul Freuler on Nov. 12, 1988, in Duluth. She served as a deacon for several years at the First Presbyterian Church, St. James.

Eugene "Gene" Menken, 59, of Windom, died on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, at the American Lutheran Church in Windom, with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Anderson Schmidt Funeral Home in Windom and one hour prior to services at the church.

Dale Hubert, 70, of Sleepy Eye, died on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Evan, with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by children, Dawn and husband David Weiss of Rock Island, Ill. and
Ginger and husband Lenus (Bopper) Heiderscheidt of Sleepy Eye; four grandchildren; a great grandchild; brothers and sisters, Lawrence and wife Colleen Hubert of Lamberton, Norma Seifert and friend Harold Miller of Hemet, Calif., Bill Hubert of Babbitt, Janice and Rodney Gertner of Walnut Grove, Dennis and Loretta Hubert of Anoka, Margorie and Bernette Nickel of Sanborn, Carol and Darrell Werner of Lake George and Frederick Hubert of Redwood Falls; and a good friend, Shirley Farley of Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Joan.
He was born March 22, 1931, in Lamberton, to Emil and Nona (Moody) Hubert. He married Joan Larrabee on Oct. 10, 1954, in Sleepy Eye. He served in the U.S. Army in 1954 - 1956 at Fort Leonardwood, Mo. He drove for Reddemann Trucking, Jenniges Transfer and Carlson Brothers. He was a member of the Sleepy Bye American Legion.

Adele Neville, 82, formerly of Gibbon, a resident of the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm, died on Saturday, Sept. 8, 200, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Service are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon, with burial at 1 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Springfield.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Gary Gustafson of Coon Rapids; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Sharon Neville of Clayton, N.C., Dennis and Barb Neville of Coon Rapids, Larry and Nancy Neville of Gibbon, Ronald and Nancy Ludewig, and Leon and Mary Ludewig all of New Ulm; seventeen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Marion Heinemann of Danube.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, William T. Neville and John Grosam; sister and brother-in-law, Luella and Robert Webster; and brother, Marvin Heinemann.
She was born Nov. 21, 1918, in Renville County, to Henry and Elsie (Kuehne) Heinemann. She attended Renville Consolidated High School in Renville. She was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon, where she was a past member of the Ladies Aid and the church choir. She became a resident of the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm in September 2000.

Etta Schubbe, 97, of Morris, died on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at the Madelia Community Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia, with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Madelia.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She is suvived by daughter, Betty Anderson and husband Herman of Madelia; sister Lydia Kosbab of St. Cloud; a granddaughter; and four nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, a sister and a grandson.
She was born on Dec. 30, 1903, in Morris, to Gust and Lydia (Fortman) Kosbab. She grew up in Morris and in Long Prarie. She married Fred Becker in 1924. They were later divorced. She lived in Mapleton and married Louis Schubbe there. She moved to Madelia after he died in 1982. She was a resident at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia since December 2000. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia.
