Harold Schiller, 73, of Springfield, died Oct. 16, 2001, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Springfield, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 -11 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield; and continues one hour before the service at the church.
He is survived by friend, Ardis Christensen of Springfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Colleen Schiller of Tracy, Rich and Jackie Schiller of Olivia, Joel and Linda Schiller of Comfrey; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Almer of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 1981.
He was born May 18, 1928, in New Ulm, to Herman and Minnie (Grabow) Schiller. He graduated from Lamberton High School in 1946. He farmed near Lamberton and Sanborn. He married Dorothy Schenk on Oct. 5, 1948, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Waterbury Township. They farmed near Sanborn. He worked part time for Sanborn Manufacturing and Fox Implement. In 1972, they moved to a farm in rural Springfield. He worked at Ochs Brick and Tile, Feeken Manufacturing, and Coleman Powermate. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Springfield.

Verona R. Wilking, 78, of rural North Mankato, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato of cancer.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato. Burial will be in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Mankato.
Visitation is 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary; and continues one hour before services Monday at the church.
Memorials are preferred to the Nicollet County Cancer Society, Immanuel-St.Joseph's Hospice or St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato.

Stanley Plumley, 80, of Bird Island, died at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bird Island with burial in Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bird Island and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Hughes Funeral Home in Hector is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys, of Olivia; daughter, Joyce and husband Craig Bangston of Leitchfield, Ky.; sons, Larry and wife Natalie of Owatonna, Randy of St. Paul, Les and wife Mary Jo of Olivia, Lynn and wife Kelly of Bird Island; 11 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth; sister and brother-in-law, Marzada and Ralph Wegener; and granddaughter Kristin Plumley.
He was born on July 28, 1921, in Montevideo to Claude and Amy (Lathrop) Plumley. He lived on a Carlton Lake farm in Montevideo and later moved to Maynard and Sleepy Eye before moving to Bird Island. He graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-45 as a heavy construction operator for air landing strips. He served in the South Pacific from Australia to the Philippines. He began farming in the Hector area in 1945. He married Gladys Arndt on June 24, 1950 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector. They lived in Hector for 12 years. The family moved to a farm 10 miles south of Bird Island in 1962, where he farmed until retirement in 1991. He served on the St. Paul's Lutheran Church council.

Veronica A. Rathmann, 95, formerly of 1016 N. State St., New Ulm, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Fairfax Community Home.
Mass of Christian burial is 10 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and continues 7:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. today at the Cathedral. There will be a combined rosary by the St. Elizabeth Catholic Aid Society and the St. George Catholic Aid Society at 6:30 p.m., and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Ernestine and Linus Neidecker of New Ulm, Arline and Stanley Klingler of rural New Ulm, and Margaret Rathmann of Minneapolis; a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Judy Rathmann of rural New Ulm; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; and sisters-in-law, Helen Biebl a resident of the Fairfax Community Home and Verona Rathmann of Gibbon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin G. Rathmann on March 4, 1980; daughters, Mary Sprenger on Nov. 10, 1981 and Shirley Portner on Sept. 9, 2000; and son, Edwin Rathmann Jr. on March 10, 1976.
She was born on April 20, 1906, in West Newton Township, Nicollet County to Albert and Margaretha (Schwab) Huelskamp. She attended country school in West Newton Township, Nicollet County. She married Edwin G. Rathmann on Oct. 18, 1927, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. They farmed in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, until 1964 when they retired and moved into New Ulm. She worked at the Kaiserhoff Restaurant for 20 years as a cook. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, Christian Mothers Society, St. Elizabeth Catholic Aid Society, and St. George Catholic Aid Society of St. George.

Verona Wilking, 78, of rural North Mankato, formerly of Nicollet, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Services are 2:00 p.m., Monday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Mankato, with burial in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery, Mankato.
Visitation is 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and Monday at the church, one hour before services. Memorials may be given to the Nicollet County Cancer Society, Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospice or St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Mankato.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; daughters and their husbands, Donna Mae
and Paul Prahl, Joan and Richard Timn, Nancy and Stewart Steele, all of North Mankato; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Ronald Prahl, a brother, and two sisters.
She was born June 17, 1923 to Frank and Pauline (Poehler) Enter in Granby Township, Nicollet County. She attended school in Nicollet. She married Bill Wining on April 22, 1941 in Nicollet. They farmed in Belgrade Township, Nicollet County. She baked wedding cakes for the area brides for 40 years until she retired in 1994. She volunteered as a leader of the Belgrade Boosters 4-H Club, and was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in North Mankato where she served on it's Family Serving Unit.

Paul A. Feil, 70, of Arlington, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, N.D.
Services will be Monday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington, with burial at the Arlington Public Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 21, 4 - 8 p.m. at the Kolden-Fenske Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour prior to service at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Leona; son, Jeffrey of Nicollet; daughter, Penny Rubesh (fiance Jason Schilhanek) of St. Cloud; sister, Doris Applen of Mankato; brothers, Wayne (Kate) of Arlington, David (Marion) of Park Rapids, and Francis (Janice) Feil of Shevlin; on grandson; and nieces and nephews.

Duane K. Haus, 79, of Arlington, died Friday at his home.
Services will be Monday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Arlington, with burial with military honors in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 21, 4 - 8 p.m. at the Kolden-Fenske Funeral Horne in Arlington and one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born May 12, 1922, in Fulton, S.D., to Charles and Gladys (Reynar) Haus. He attended public school in Fairfax. He married Delores Kiecker on Oct. 23, 1944 in Wellington Township, rural Fairfax. He served in the U.S. Navy with a rank of Seaman 1st Class in 1944 -1946 during WWII. After being discharged from the Navy, he moved to Arlington and farmed until 1968. He then worked at Green Isle Manufacturing until 1981 at which time he retired. Dwane was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and served as an usher and a member of the Finance Board. He was also a member of the Arlington VFW Post 6031.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Paul Haus; sister, Mellie Senkyr; and brothers-in-law, Clifford Buboltz and Jerald Wendlandt.
He is survived by his wife, Delores, sons, Don (Elaine) of Glencoe and Tom (Peggy) Haus of Lakeville; daughters, Jeanette (Dennis) Schrupp of Mayer and Renea (Dale) Lindquist of Hamburg; brother and sister-in-law, Charles Haus of Arlington, and Dorothy Haus of Morton; sister and brothers-in-law, June (Ralph) Schroeder of Gibbon and Don Senkyr of Morton, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lorraine Buboltz, Elmer (Sophie) Kiecker, and Delford (Agnes) Kiecker, all of Fairfax, Dorothy (Kenneth) Wendlandt of Hutchinson, and Marion Wendlandt of Brownton; and seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Paul A. Feil, 70, of Arlington, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, N.D.
Services are Monday, at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington with burial in the Arlington Public Cemetery.
Visitation is today from 4-8 p.m. at the Kolden-Fenske funeral Home in Arlington and continues one hour prior to the service on Monday.
He is survived by his wife, Leona; a son, Jeffrey of Nicollet; a daughter, Penny Rubesh (and fiance Jason Schilhanek) of St. Cloud; a sister, Doris Applen of Mankato; brothers, Wayne (Kate) of Arlington, David (Marion) of Park Rapids, and Francis (Janice) Feil of Shevlin; a grandson, Blaine Feil; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant daughters and brother-in-law Theron Applen.
He was born Nov. 22, 1930, in Madison, Minn. to Frank A. and Lillan H. (Kohlmeier) and baptized a day later at St. Michael's Church in Madison. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1948 and married Leona Klitzke on Aug. 18, 1951 in Hackensack. He entered the U. S. Army on Aug. 29, 1951, receiving his training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and served in Korea before being discharged with a rank of Corporal on May 28, 1953. After he returned from the Army, he worked at the Arlington Enterprise, owned an oxygen supply route and later served as a police officer for the city of Arlington and a deputy for the Sibley County Sheriff's Department for 30 years. He was a member of the Arlington VFW Post #6031 and American Legion Post #250.

Alvin A. Helget, 84, of Comfrey, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at the St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Services are Monday, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Comfrey with burial in St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. today at the Sturm Funeral Home in Comfrey and from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Monday. There will be a parish service at 8 p.m. today at the Sturm Funeral Home.
He is survived by his sisters, Henrietta Johnson of Wahkon, Odelia Pihlstrom of Arlington, and Imelda Edmunds of Los Angeles; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Catherine Helget; a brother, Joseph Helget, Jr. and a sister, Leone Hall.
He was born June 14, 1917, in Mulligan Township, Brown County, to Joseph E. and Katherine (Zwaschka) Helget. He attended rural country school and farmed in the Comfrey area in Bashaw Township during his lifetime. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and served as an usher.

Venus Simundson, 96, of Madelia, formerly of Hanska, died Friday Oct. 19, 2001, at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at the Lake Hanska Lutheran Church, rural Hanska, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. today at the Firle Funeral Home in Hanska, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by her sons, Rev. Jon Simundson and his wife Alice of Spooner, Wis., Dr. Dan Simundson of Jacksonville, Fla., four grandchildren; Nancy Kintner, Michael Simundson, Susan Peterson and Steven Simundson; seven great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Roy and Elmer Synsteby; a sister, Cora Stockton; a half brother James and a half sister Alma.
She was born Feb. 22, 1905, in Lake Hanska Township, Brown County. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1923, and after attending St. Olaf College for a year. She taught in area rural schools for four years. She married Rev. O.M. Simundson June 19, 1927 in Lake Hanska Lutheran Church. They lived in Fargo, N.D. for three years where her husband worked with the Lutheran Hospitals and Home Society. After her husband's death on June 27, 1981, she moved back to Lake Hanska and lived with her brother Ollie on the home farm for 13 years. Venus and Ollie entered the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia Jan. 21, 1994. Ollie died Aug. 27, 1997.

Helen Kienitz Winters, 100 of Bingham Lake, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Home in Mountain Lake.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carson Mennonite Church in Delft, with burial in the Delft Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Anderson-Schmidt Funeral Home in Windom, and 9:30-11 a.m. at Carson Mennonite Church in Delft.

Helen Kienitz Winters, 100, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Home in Mountain Lake.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carson Mennonite Brethren Church in Delft with burial in Delft Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Anderson-Schmidt Funeral Home in Windom and Tuesday from 9:30-11 a.m at the church.
She is survived by sons and their spouses, Kenneth DeLyle and A. Maria Winters of Bingham Lake, Clarence Wilbert and Eloise Winters of Omaha, N.E., and Rev. James Anton and Suzanne Winters of Indianapolis; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob in April 1990; son, Leslie; a brother, Charles; and sisters, Elsie Kienitz, Lydia Wiebe and Alma Kienitz.
She was born Feb. 1, 1901, in Amboy Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota, to John and Anna (Werner) Kienitz. She grew up in the Jeffers area and attended rural school. On March 17, 1921, she married Jacob Winters at the Carson Mennonite Brethren church in Delft. She and her husband farmed. She was a member of Carson Mennonite Brethren Church, where she was active in the sewing circle and food committee of the church. She became a resident of the Good Samaritan Home in Mountain Lake on March 3, 1999.

Gwendolyn 'Gwen' Bronsema, 101, of Redwood Falls, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls, with burial in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, and one hour prior to services Wednesday.
She is survived by sister, Wauneitta "Nete" Breitkreutz, of Littleton, Colo., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son in infancy; son, Dick in 1995; brother, Richard; and sisters, Gladys Kunde and Myfanwyn (Bud) Castle.
She was born Jan. 22, 1900, in Hampton, Iowa, to Dixon and Myrtle (Vokes) Hyndman. She married Ike Bronsema on Aug. 12, 1920, in Olivia. Around 1929 they moved to Delhi Township and then Paxton Township and in 1948 moved to Redwood Falls. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and church circle.

Alvin J. Helget, 83, of Sleepy Eye, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at the Franklin Health Care Center in Franklin.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-9 p.m. today and 7:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at the former Minnesota Valley Funeral Home Chapel, 521 W. Main St., Sleepy Eye. There will be a rosary by the Sleepy Eye Knights of Columbus Council 3134 at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., today at the funeral home.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Kathleen Helget, and Darrel and Vivian Helget, all of St. James, Gerald and Dorothy Helget of Sleepy Eye, Marlin and Carol Helget of New Ulm, Duane and Ruth Helget of St. James, Dale Helget of Rochester, and Lorin and Denise Helget of Sleepy Eye; 41 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sylvester and Helen Helget of Sleepy Eye, Victor and Valeria Helget of New Ulm, and Delmar and Agnes Helget of Sleepy Eye; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ervin and Marian Fischer of Sleepy Eye; and a sister-in-law Arnolda Fischer of Sleepy Eye.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Helget, on Nov. 25, 1998; parents, Otto and Clara Helget; grandchildren Shannon Helget, Craig Helget, and Janelle Helget; a brother and a sister both in infancy; brother and sister-in-law, Wendelin and Veronica "Fronie" Helget; brother-in-law, Willard Fischer; and a sister-in-law, Caroline Helget.
He was born on Jan. 29, 1918, in Sleepy Eye to Otto and Clara (Haala) Helget. He attended school in Stark Township, Brown County. He married Leona Fischer on June 3, 1940, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. They farmed in Albin Township, Brown County. After the death of his wife he moved to the Countryside Apartments in Sleepy Eye. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, the Sleepy Eye Knights of Columbus Council 3134, and the Sleepy Eye Eagles Club 3428. He had served on the Stark Baseball Board for many years.
