John T. Omtvedt, 53 of Belview, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, as the result of an automobile accident. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Belview.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, and one hour prior to service's at the church on Wednesday. There will be a private family interment at a later date. The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Omtvedt; children, Michael Omtvedt of Madison Lake, David Omtvedt of Mankato, Geri Theis of Redwood Falls, Tina Giernet of Big Lake, Christopher Omtvedt of Redwood Falls and Danielle Omtvedt at home, and 16 grandchildren.
He was born Aug. 17, 1948 in Redwood County to Rolf and Ruth (Wells) Omtvedt.

Norbert A. Seidl, 85 of Sleepy Eye,died Sunday, Jan. 13, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye. Father Todd Petersen will officiate. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 4-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. There will be a Parish Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. and a Catholic Aid Rosary at 4:30 p.m., both at the funeral home on Tuesday.
He is survived by his wife, Viola Seidl of Sleepy Eye, daughters, Suzanne and husband Lloyd Braun of Sleepy Eye and Shirley and husband Tom Kuck of New Ulm; a daughter-in-law, Jan and husband Jim Hindermann of Sleepy Eye; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Leona Seidl of Sleepy Eye and brother-in-law, Norbert and wife Bernice Sturm of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Martin; brothers and sisters, Minnie Schroepfer, Laura Schroepfer, Leonard Seidl, Clara Portner, Fronie Portner, Louise Tastel and Evelyn Sturm.
Norbert was born on May 5, 1916 in Sleepy Eye, the son of William and Catherine (Haala) Seidl. He grew up and attended country school in the Sleepy Eye area and later St. Mary's School in Sleepy Eye for two years. Norbert married Viola Sturm on Sept. 9, 1940 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. After their marriage the couple lived and farmed in the Sleepy Eye area. He was a member and founder of the Stark Baseball Association and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1976. Norbert was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Aid Association. He was also a member of the Stark creamery Board and Sleepy Eye Creamery Board, Sleepy Eye Sportsmen's Club. Norbert enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing and baseball.

Ethel H. Urban, 94, of St. James, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, St. James.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, South Branch. with burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Antrim Township.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday at the Sturm Funeral Home, St. James, and at the church one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by daughters, Beverly Menssen of St. James; Betty Mielke of North Mankato, and Darlene Riggle of Clear Lake, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild
She was born Aug. 10, 1907, in Wilmot, S.D., to Chris and Hattie (Grau) Greiner.

Helen L. Von Eschen, 89, of Arlington, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington, with burial in St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington, and Wednesday, one hour prior to service at the church
She is survived by sons, Jim, Glen, and Tom Von Eschen, all
of Arlington; a daughter, Betty Peterson of Maple Grove; 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
She was born March 1, 1912 in Arlington, to Ehler and Margaret (Meier) Henke.

Dolores 'Dolly' Dwinnell, 75, of Walker, formerly of Brownton, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Dobratz-Hantge Downtown Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Brownton.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral chapel.

Oscar Kulberg, age 95, of Fairfax, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at the Franklin Healthcare Center.
Funeral service will be Friday, January 18, 2002, at 10:30 am. at the Swedlanda Lutheran Church in Palmyra Township, rural Hector. Interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Swedlanda Lutheran Church and continues one hour prior to the service on Friday, Arrangements with Hughes Funeral Home.
Oscar Beauford Kulberg was born Sept. 18, 1906, in Palmyra Township, Renville County, Minn., the son of Berge J. and Alida (Kristenson) Kulberg. He was baptized and confirmed at Swedlanda Lutheran Church. He grew up in Palmyra township and attended rural country school.
Oscar started out as a hired man for Mary Ness at age 19. He continued to farm and lived in Bandon township for 73 years, When he retired he took pride in his yard, mowing, painting, and had flowers.
Oscar was a kind, quiet, intelligent person. He listened to the news on T.V. and kept up with world events. He would drive to town for his noon meal and enjoyed talking with his friends. Every year he rode around the field in a combine to check the crops.
In October of 2000 he moved to Country View Estates in Fairfax. He enjoyed his new apartment and had a view of the fields. He was a member of the Renville County Historical Society and a life member of Swedlanda Lutheran Church. Oscar rarely missed a church service as he served his Lord.
Oscar is survived by his brothers: Andrew Kulberg and wife Irene, of Minneapolis, Minn.; Ernest KuIberg, of Fairfax, Minn., and by 17 nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Albert, Arthur, Carl, Emil, Ben, Axel, sisters: Emma Kulberg and Hilda Johnson.

Audrey Johnson, 86, of Bloomington, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at her home.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in Prairieville Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church.
Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Audrey C. Johnson, 86, of Bloomington, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Monday at her home.
Visitation is 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's in Sleepy Eye, with burial to follow at Prairieville Cemetery in Evan. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
She is survived by her husband Jerome Johnson of Sleepy Eye, children and their spouses, Judy and Gary Goblirsch of Bloomington, Jeff and Connie Johnson of Phoenix, Brad and Maria Johnson of Smyrna, Tenn., grandchildren, Tim Goblirsch, Stephanie and Rob Clarke, Kimberly and Michea Johnson, Sheila and Eric Princl, Jazmin Johnson, James "JP" Johnson and Mathew Johnson, great grandchild Bobby Clarke, brother-in-law, Jerry and wife Colleen Johnson of Bloomington, sister-in-law, Alice Rothmeier of Fairbault and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law, Les and wife Francis Hansen and Ed Rothmeier and twin great grand baby angels.
Audrey was born on Nov. 13, 1915, in Minneapolis, the daughter of William and Doris (Friedrich) Caven. She grew up and attended school in Franklin and Fairfax. Audrey graduated from Fairfax High School. She married James Johnson on Oct. 14, 1940, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. The couple made their home in Sleepy Eye where Audrey worked at the Sleepy Eye Medical Clinic. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Audrey enjoyed traveling in Ireland, spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards, dancing, polishing her nails and being Irish.

Pearl Hughes, age 73, of Hector, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at the Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
Funeral service will be Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Hector. Interment in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Pearl Elizabeth Hughes was born July 28, 1928, in rural Grantsburg, Wis., the daughter of Per Albert and Ida Helen (Larson) Peterson. She grew up in rural Grantsburg. Upon graduation from the Grantsburg High School, Pearl lived and worked in St. Paul.
On Dec. 20, 1947, Pearl was united in marriage to Raymond Hughes at the Trade Lake Baptist Church. The couple lived in St. Paul while Ray finished his college education. After living in Lake Crystal for six years, they made Hector their home in 1954. They founded the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector in 1960, expanding to locations in Buffalo Lake, Stewart, and Cosmos in the following years. Pearl was actively involved in and dedicated to the funeral home business and the Hughes Ambulance Service. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hector, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Pearl is survived by her children: Howard Hughes and his wife Sandra of Hector, Cindy Christopherson of Hector, and Don Hughes of Hector, grandchildren: Nichole Wurst and her husband Cory of Lake City, Aaron Peters of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Samantha Best and her husband Doug of Hector, Jacqueline Hughes and Guy Hughes of Hector; great-grandchildren Dawson Best and Carter Best of Hector; 2 brothers; 7 sisters: 2 sisters-in-law; 4 brothers-in-law; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents and step-mother Gladys, her husband Ray on July 25, 1996, 1 brother, and 7 sisters.

Michael A. Madsen, age 40, of New Prague, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Fairview Riverside Hospital in Minneapolis after battling cancer for almost three years.
Michael was born in New Ulm on Aug. 12, 1961, to Dale and Adele Madsen of Essig. He attended Dist. 213, Brown County, New Ulm Public Schools and Mankato Vo Tech.
Michael's marriage to Tami J. Bisek took place in New Prague, on Oct. 22, 1988. He worked as an office manager at MN Valley Ag Co-op in New Prague and most recently at DC & H, a computer software company, in Inver Grove Heights.
Michael is survived by his wife Tami, and two children, Cassie and Caleb of New Prague; parents Dale and Adele Madsen of Essig; parents-in-law Gene and Mary Bisek of New Prague; siblings, Terri (& Denny) McKenzie of Rochester, Vicki (& Bert) Englehard of Richfield, David and Steven of Essig, and Beth of New Ulm; brother-in-law Jim (& Michelle) Bisek of Jordan; sister-in-law Kim (& Jim) Ries of New Prague; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Mike and Dagny Madsen, Arthur and Alice Nelson, and mother-in-law Sandra Thurston.
Visitation for Michael will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, from 4 - 9 p.m. at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague (952-758-4949) and for one hour prior to the service at church Friday morning. Services will be held Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague, followed by cremation at Lakewood Crematory in Minneapolis. Reverend Steve Trewartha will officiate at the service; pallbearers are: Terri and Denny McKenzie, Vicki and Bret Englehard, David Beth and Steven Madsen, Jim Bisek, and Jim Ries.
Michael was an active member at Holy Trinity and in the various activities of his children.

Cornelia Malmberg, 96, of Winthrop, formerly of Minneapolis, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Care Center.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Winthrop, with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop is handling the arrangements.
She was born Sept. 6, 1905, in Winthrop, to August and Clara (Anderson) Malmberg.

Mildred Nafsinger, 90, of Redwood Falls, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Sunwood Care Center in Redwood Falls.
Visitation is 4 - 7 p.m. Friday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service and 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls, with burial at the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Arrangements are with Nelson-Martin Funeral Service.
She was born Dec. 7, 1911, to A.L. (Toby) and Florence Mae (Weinheimer) Nafsinger in Bagley, Iowa.

Elmer Nelson, 93, of Redwood Falls, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in Redwood Falls.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, with burial in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2002 at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Redwood Falls; sons Douglas of Wabasso, Leon of Bemidji and Terry of Spicer; sister Alma Kenow of Fairbault; and three grandchildren.
He was born on Jan. 10, 1909, in rural Clements, to Elmer and Inga (Christiansen) Nelson.

Eldon C. Liljengren, 74, of 1109 North Garden Street, New Ulm, died Thursday morning, Jan. 17, 2002, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Funeral service will be I I a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm with burial to follow at the Clear Lake Methodist Cemetery, rural Lafayette. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m, Sunday, and 7 - 9 a.m. Monday at the Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm, and one how prior to services at the church.
Eldon Clair Liljengren, the son of Alix and Ellie (Lundberg) Liljengren, was born Dec. 6, 1927, in New Ulm. He attended New Ulm public schools and worked for many years for Gopher Concrete in New Ulm. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in New Ulm.
Survivors include one brother Glen Liljengren and his wife Jeanette of North St. Paul; niece, Roxanne Jungclaus of Maplewood; great nephews, Jason and Daniel Schmidt; and companion Dolores Ahlbrecht of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A. Hazel Lloyd, 87, of North Mankato, died Wednesday at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.
Visitation will be 2 - 5 p.m. Sunday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour prior to services Monday at Cambria Presbyterian Church in Cambria. Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the church in Cambria, with burial to follow at the Cambria Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter Suellen Lloyd of North Mankato; son, Kenneth Lloyd of North Mankato; seven grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
A. Hazel Lloyd was born Feb. 17, 1914, to John and Anna (Mattila) Kangas in Lawler, Minn.

Lorraine E. Schwartz, 81, formerly of New Ulm died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002 at the Franklin Healthcare Center in Franklin.
Graveside committal service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9:45-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
She is survived by her daughter, Reeta Lincoln of Richfield; 14 grandchildren; and a brother, LeRoy Stiehm of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters and five brothers. She was born on March 17, 1920 in Gibbon to Ferdinand and Hulda (Possin) Stiehm.
