Eleanore Nelson, 78, of 611 12th North Street in New Ulm, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at her home.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday.
Eleanore is survived by her husband Myron Nelson, a resident at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax; daughters, Sandra Revier and her husband Gary of Arlington, and Ramona Nielsen and her husband Dennis of St. Cloud; son Donavon Nelson and his special friend Julie Johnson, both of Fairfax; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister Verone Langhorst and her husband Elmer of Gaylord. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Harlan, Eldon and Ronald Peterson.
Eleanore was born on Nov.12, 1924, in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County to Raymond and Ester (Johnson) Peterson. She graduated from St. Peter High School in 1942. On Nov. 21, 1942 she married Myron Nelson in Winthrop. After marriage they farmed near Fairfax, and she ran the lunch wagon for her husband's auctioneer service for many years. In 1986 they moved to New Ulm.
She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in New Ulm and a member of the Ladies Aid (WELCA) at church.

Art Boyum, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at the Fairfax Community Home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Fairfax with burial in Hauges Lutheran Cemetery, Camp Township, Renville County.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8 a.m. Monday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax and Monday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his sons, Delbert of Hector, Rodney of Wabasso and Robert of Vadnais Heights; 18 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 3 great, great grandchildren and a sister, Bernice of New Ulm.
He was born Nov. 24, 1916 in Camp Township, Renville County to Christian Hanson and Annie Marie (Oakland) Boyum.

Bernice S. Meidl, 90, of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002 at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is Saturday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She was born July 19, 1912 in Bovey to David and Kathryn (Puckett) Hamm.

Nathan J. Cohrs, 28, of Burnsville, formerly of Redwood Falls, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 at First United Methodist Church, Redwood Falls with burial in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home, Redwood Falls and Tuesday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his mother, Linda Cohrs of Morton.
He was born Sept. 12, 1974 in Tracy to Linda (McFarland) Cohrs and James Cohrs.

Marjorie J. Guggisberg, 76, of Springfield, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Springfield Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sanborn, with burial in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Willow Lake Township, near Wanda.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, and at the church one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband, Roy G. Guggisberg of Springfield; sons, Roy H. Guggisberg of Sanborn, Jim Giggusberg of Sanborn and Scott Guggisberg of Sanborn; a daughter, Sharon Gieseke of Maple Grove; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter, and a brother, Darold Dahms of Bourbonnais, Ill.
She was born Jan. 15, 1926 in Rochester, Minn., to Fred and Hazel (Jensen) Dahms.

Alice Kossack, 91, of Hector, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at the Cosmos Health Care Center.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Hector.
Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. The Raymond D. Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by a son, James, of Hector, and a daughter, Janet, of Milaca.
She was born June 17, 1911, in Brookfield Township, rural Hector, to Joseph and Mary (Musil) Skucius.

Edwin C. 'Ed' Wieland, 77, of Redwood Falls, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at the Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in Redwood Falls.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Private burial of his cremated remains will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls, and at the church Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife, Joan of Redwood Falls; sons, Steven of Byron and Michael of Boulder Creek, Calif.; daughters, Jan Weight of Anoka and Mary Ellen Stedtfeld of River Falls, Wis.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brothers, Art of Fargo, N.D., and Emil of Jamestown, N.D.
He was born March 18, 1925, in Streeter, N.D. to Emil and Mathilda (Schlenker) Wieland.

Lorna C. Jahr, 85, of Arlington, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Arlington, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is one hour before services at the church. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling arrangements.
She is survived by children, Sharon Braun of Brainerd, Lois Pichelmann of Burnsville, Allan Jahr of Pemberton, Kenneth Jahr of Arlington and Barbara Mathwig of Brownton; eight grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and sister, Lee Buckentin of Plato.
She was born Oct. 28, 1917, in Hamburg, Minn., to Hermann and Lena (Matthews) Reinitz.

Carol Ann Peterson, 64, of Comfrey, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at her home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey, with burial in the Springfield City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-9 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Comfrey, and at the church one hour prior to the service.
Carol Ann Beussman, the daughter of Edwin and Rufina (Hohman) Beussman, was born August 1, 1938, in Springfield, Minn. She attended country school District 78. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1956. After taking classes at Mankato Commercial College for one year, she worked at the college for a time, after which she began employed at Kraft Foods in New Ulm. On July 14, 1962, Carol married LeRoy Peterson at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. Following marriage they lived on the Peterson family farm in Bashaw Township. Carol continued to work at Kraft Foods, and later part time at the Comfrey Times office. Carol then started employment at the Harry Frederickson Insurance Agency, now the Peoples State Agency in Comfrey, where she worked for the past 18 years. Carol had been a member of Faith Lutheran Church, now New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey, since marriage. She was a member of the Ladies Circle, W.E.L.C.A, the Soul's Inspiration Singing Group, had taught Sunday School for several years. She was a former 4-H leader and a member and past president of the local branch of the Lutheran Brotherhood, She enjoyed her family and grandchildren, visiting with her many friends, taking community education classes in cake decorating and calligraphy, walking, playing piano and organ, participating in community singing groups and helping others.
Survivors include her husband, LeRoy Peterson of Comfrey; a daughter Jayna and husband Richard Groebner of Springfield; a son Brian and wife Deb Peterson of Kilkenny; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Benjamin and Miranda Groebner and Katie and Jacob Peterson; brothers, Delwin and wife Beverly Beussman of Springfield and Robert and wife Cheryl Beussman of New Ulm. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jeremy Buchanan, 20, of Redwood Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at his home in Redwood Falls.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Franklin, with burial in the Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Friday.
He is survived by brothers, Billy of Olivia, and Ryan of Franklin; sisters, Angie and Krissie, both of Franklin; parents Joel M. and Lori Ann (Knake) Buchanan of Franklin; grandparents, Peggy Buchanan of Willmar, Donald Buchanan of Janesboro, Ark., and ElRoy and Roslyn Knake of Willmar; great-grandfather, William Garrett of Milbank, S.D., and great-grandmother, Helen Knake of St. James.

Emil Kamolz, 83, of New Ulm, formerly of Springfield, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springfield with Pastor Dave Putz officiating the service. Burial will be at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Springfield. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 - 9 a.m. Friday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Friday.
Emil was born May 4, 1919, to William and Bertha (Winkelmann) Kamolz in Springfield. He attended and graduated from Springfield High School. On May 21, 1941, Emil married Gretchen Bloemke at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield.
In 1941, Emil entered the U.S. Army and served until 1945. The couple made their home in Springfield, where Emil worked at the clothing store, operated the Red Owl Grocery Store in the 1950s and in the late 1950s, owned and operated the Kamolz Shoe Store in Springfield. In 1965, Emil started working with the U.S. Postal Service and worked as a mail carrier until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Springfield American Legion and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. He was a music enthusiast. He played clarinet in many Springfield area bands, including The Sauerkraut Band. His hobbies included aviation, playing pool and card games and gardening.
He is survived by his wife Gretchen Kamolz of Hutchinson; sons, Kenneth and his wife Betti of New Ulm, Jerry and his wife Cheryl of Bonsall, Calif., and Edward and his wife Linda of Escondido, Calif.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister Betty and her husband Sylvan Buggert of Park Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Susan in infancy; and brother Richard.

Roy P. Sogaard, 76, of Clements, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Springfield Medical Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Clements, with burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield and Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his children, Annette Prochnow of Mesa, Ariz., Renee Stefanacci of St. Louis Park, Gail Sturges of Buffalo, Catherine Hiscow of Chanhassen, John Sogaard of Brooklyn Park and Paul Sogaard of Prairie Village, Kan.; nine grandchildren; brothers, Loren of Madison, S.D., Elton of Clements and Merlyn of Saco, Maine; sisters, Dorothy Warrell of Granville, Ohio and Arleen Wood of Livermore, Calif.
He was born May 2, 1926, to Arthur and Marie (Johnson) Sogaard in Sundown Township. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Memorials are preferred to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Clements or Clements American Legion Post 519.

Bernice (Ganske) Truax, 72, of Skiatook, Oklahoma and formerly of the New Ulm and Comfrey area, died Sunday, November 24, 2002 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2002 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to time of service at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are being handled by the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Bernice is survived by her husband, Verlyn Truax, of Skiatook, Oklahoma; a daughter, Melissa Kral of San Antonio, Texas; sons and daughter-in-law, Tony Kral of Ketchum, Idaho, Paul and Suzanne Truax of Skiatook, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Sarah and Joshua Truax; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel and Harold Roth of New Ulm, and Marlene and David Piere of Winthrop.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Floyd and Wallace Ganske.
Bernice was born on June 1, 1930, in New Ulm to Herbert and Sophie (Goblirsch) Ganske. She attend country school in rural New Ulm and graduated from Comfrey High School in 1949. In 1949 she married Robert Kral in Minneapolis. After marriage they lived in various locations while he was in the military service.
In 1961 she married Verlyn Truax in Farmington. After marriage they lived in Farmington, Albuquerque, New Mexico, San Antonio, Texas and for the past several years they lived in Skiatook, Oklahoma. She worked for Southwest Bell from 1972 until she retired in 1994. Bernice loved to garden and raise flowers and was active in the American Legion Auxiliary.

Myrtle Anderson, 100, of New Ulm, died Tuesday evening, Dec. 3, 2002, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with Rev. Jon Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Friday and 7 - 9 a.m. Saturday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Myrtle Evangeline Johnson, the daughter of Gullick and Amelia (Sandquist) Johnson was born July 28, 1902, in Renville County, Minnesota. She spent her youth on the family farm and attended District 43 school near Lafayette. Myrtle was united in marriage to Bob Grussendorf on Feb. 2, 1919. Together they farmed until his death on Jan. 22, 1944. She moved to New Ulm, where she worked for the former Eagle Roller Mill and Meyer's Studio. She married J. Arthur Anderson on Jan. 11, 1952. They made their home in Lafayette. He died April 18, 1977.
Myrtle moved to the Realife Apartments in New Ulm in 1988. She moved to Oak Hills Assisted Living in June 1997, and to the Living Center on March 11, 2002. Myrtle was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Ulm, and a former member of the Lafayette American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and LaVonne Grussendorf of New Ulm, and David and Kate Grussendorf of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; daughters and son-in-law, Fern Kalberg of Oceanside, Calif., and Colleen and Stanley Mead of Seattle, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Helen Anderson of New Ulm; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Kenneth Kalberg in November 1998; seven brothers; and four sisters.
Myrtle enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing cards.

Lucille Hacker, 86, of Lafayette, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 - 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
Lucille is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Verona and Eli Teig, and Edna Maidl all of Lafayette, Doris and Carl Crone of New Ulm, and Bernice and Charles Frederick of Richland, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers-in-law, Sylvester Schaeffler and Herbert Maidl.
She was born on April 18, 1916, in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County, to Frank and Eugenia (Klement) Hacker. She lived in St. Paul and was employed by Dayton's for 40 years. She moved to Lafayette in 1993. She was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette. The family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers.
